So I started thinking of an AU where Della didn't take the Spear of Selene and the bois grew up with their entire family and now I'm thinking....
In this AU, F.O.W.L. wouldn't have seen the need to make April/Webby
Not hear me out
Cause Webby and the bois are the same age yeah? But we don't know exactly who was born first. We know the bois hatched in April 15 (HA! April!) but we don't know when Project #87 started. It's totally possible Project #87 got started after the bois were born
No okay listen to me
F.O.W.L. needed Scrooge's heir, right? But an "heir" doesn't necessarily have to be a direct child, it can be a niece or a nephew too, the show itself says so. Scrooge refers to them all as potential heirs.
So F.O.W.L. didn't need Scrooge to be a father really, they just needed Scrooge to have a child (or multiple children) in his family to potentially consider as his heir. This is why I believe Webby wasn't made until after Della left with the Spear of Selene.
Before Della got lost, Scrooge had 5 potential heirs right there. The twins and the unhatched Duck bois. F.O.W.L. didn't need to clone Scrooge, they just needed to wait until the eggs hatched and see if they could manipulate the triplets into getting them the papyrus.
But then Della got lost, one less potential heir. And Donald had a falling out with his uncle and left the mansion, one less potential heir. And the triplets were hatched and raised in the houseboat, without meeting Scrooge or even knowing they were related. Three less potential heirs.
No potential heirs
So now F.O.W.L. has a problem. And what do they do? That's when they make April/Webby.
So if Della didn't get lost and the family didn't break apart, then they wouldn't have made Webby.
More evidence to this is the fact that we see that Scrooge was living alone when Beakley moved in with him. Della and Donald were all already out of the picture before Beakley came to his door with a child.
Della knows Beakley as "Agent 22", she's surprised that she's the housekeeper now. So, we know that she didn't move in until after Della's disappearance.
So, in an AU where the Spear of Selene didn't happen, there's no Webby.

DT 87 and DT 17 ep 1 comparisons (spoilers for both)
Ducktales 87 Donald and triplets: Trusts Scrooge with the triplets despite knowing he’s cheap and a grump. And the triplets despite knowing Scrooge is rich, still doesn’t wanna live with him because he’s a grump and a cheapskate.
Ducktales 17 Donald and triplets: After the Spear of Selene incident with Della, Donald is bitter with Scrooge and reluctantly trusts him with the boys. Meanwhile the boys are psyched because they know about Scrooge being an adventurer and super rich.

a rant about dt-17's finale and how it somewhat destroys the themes of the cartoon
ducktales (2017) spoilers for the finale under the cut. every day i tag spoilers for something more and more silly.
can i be honest with you guys? i kinda fucking hated the whole twist of ducktales' last episode. Now, now, i haven't watched it in a while (like five months) but my point still fully stands:
Webby being Scrooge's biological daughter was completely fucking unnecessary. Though I will admit that it has a few perks-- accidentally confirming that Scrooge was trans being one of the bigger ones-- the reveal ultimately serves to disservice the importance of found family.
Family of all kinds is the driving force of DuckTales, from Ms. Beakley to Lena to, hell, one could argue the Beagle Boys. For almost the whole show, Webby was meant to be the keystone of this entire theme. She integrated herself as an extra sibling to the triplets, she adopted Scrooge as her own uncle, and none of this was hampered by the fact she wasn't related by blood to any of them. If anything, this added to her character, by the idea that she never fit in with any of them, and her arc was growing to realize that a family full of adventures like she always wanted doesn't have to be a descendant of McDuck, that she could help shape that family on her own. This is especially important as you remember that in the early episodes, Webby had little say about how her life was lived, secluded from others by her overprotective guardians.
Many people also tend to say that Webby's being a genetic clone of Scrooge ''explains'' her extensive research to him. To that I say, no! That was a typical special interest for her, especially considering how she envied Scrooge's adventurous lifestyle at the time! And throughout the series, there are many parallels between Scrooge and Webby, such as their love for adventure or their almost blind-seeming courage, which proves that they were intrinsically tied through blood. While I do see some merit to that idea, this is much better explained by how she was raised in such close proximity to him and his affects left on the world. You spend years studying some guy, you're bound to pick up on his mannerisms and ideals.
A few other notes: I believe that the finale was horribly rushed, but that seems to be an effect of the production, so, whatevs. Going away from Webby, I also don't particularly like how May and June lacked their prior connection as Daisy's nieces. Although that connection was established, it seemed flawed and almost out of place. Also, the reason why Webby was made-- and this could easily be me just forgetting things-- lacked context or explanation. yeah, yeah, whatever, McDuck blood, but. I don't know. I think that the reason the writers added this subplot in was to explain Webby's ancestry, but there are just. So many better ways to do that.
Despite all my deep-burning hatred for the twist, I guess I do see the appeal, but I would find it much more rewarding if Webby actually searched these answers out for herself after seeing Della and the boys reunited, which, please do remember, she worked together with Dewey to do! She's a naturally curious person, she likely wouldn't just accept that she knows nothing about herself if she found even one inaccuracy to the story Beakley told her about her past. In a perfect world, I think that she'd see this as a new mystery to unravel and might persue it with Scrooge if timings were right, which would lead to a MUCH more emotionally satisfying conclusion to an arc about her heritage.

Donald being Scrooge's most trusted ally. Scrooge giving up adventure to save him and having a Papa Wolf moment over him. Donald yelling at Scrooge to not do it? Scrooge letting himself be shackled for Donald's sake. Donald being the first to defend Scrooge when he was helpless. The scream Scrooge let out when Bradford tried to murder Donald. They delivered on Donald and Scrooge in this finale. I love them.

Every single episode of Ducktales (2017) Summarized in Roughly in One Sentence or Less!
Thank you Frank and team so much for introducing this family to a new generation of kids while remaining faithful to your source material. I hope you all enjoy my attempts at humor!
Woo-oo!: We don’t really know what’s going on yet but let’s do this!
Escape To/From Atlantis!: “Well I’m wearing a kilt McDuck! A kiiiilt!”

The Great Dime Chase!: “Shut up, everyone! I’ve done something brilliant!” (Also: Guess’s who my favorite character is?)
The Beagle Birthday Breakout!: Lena and Webby are best girls, fight me on this
Terror of the Terra-firmians!: This is the Spoopiest episode and also the most heartwarming.
The House of the Lucky Gander!: He’s an asshole but I love him.
The Infernal Internship of Mark Beaks!: He’s an even bigger asshole but I love him.
The Living Mummies of Toth-Ra!: I too would do anything for a good burrito.
The Impossible Summit of Mt. Neverrest!: “If I had a nickel for every person who cursed me with their dying breath, I’d be twice as rich as I already am.”
The Spear of Selene!: Of course Scrooge showed up freaking Zeus.
Beware the B.U.D.D.Y System!: The fusion of Iron Man and Sailor Moon I never knew I always wanted.
The Missing Links of Moorshire!: I always knew My Little Pony had a deadly fandom but this is ridiculous…
Mystery at McDuck Manor!: Took you long enough, Duckworth, welcome back.

The Golden Lagoon of White Agony Plains!: Scrooge and Glomgold are in love with Allison Janney, and honestly, same.
Day of the Only Child!: Doofus is even creepier than Lil’ Gideon, and that is saying something.
From the Confidential Casefiles of Agent 22!: *hums James Bond theme intensely to myself*
Who is Gizmoduck?!: He’s not throwing away his shot! (I’m sorry, I had to)
The Other Bin of Scrooge McDuck!: I love Louie in this episode, he’s such a mood.
Sky Pirates… in the Sky!: The Pirates of the Caribbean meets High School Music crossover starring evil Panchito I never knew I needed.

The Last Crash of the Sunchaser!: *ugly sobbing*
The Shadow War, Part 1: Night of De Spell!: Donald finally gets the love he deserves.

The Ballad of Duke Baloney!: Dammit, Frank.
The Town Where Everyone Was Nice!: They’re boyfriends mates, sorry I don’t make the rules.
Storkules in Duckburg!: Storkules is the ultimate Donald Duck fan, we cannot comepete.
Last Christmas!: Somehow the Ghost of Christmas McBrayer is the least surprising thing I’ve ever seen in this show.
Whatever Happened to Della Duck?!: Oh, so that’s how she survived.
Treasure of the Found Lamp!: Dijin is the best character.
The Outlaw Scrooge McDuck!: Yee–and I cannot stress this enough–haw.
The 87 Cent Solution!: *wheezing* Dammit, Frank…

The Golden Army of Cornelius Coot!: Della is just pulling a Donald and adopting any and all kids within arms reach at this point.
Timephoon!: “I’m on it!” *gets struck by lightning* “I’ve immediately failed you!”

The Richest Duck in the World!: Drag them, Owlson. Drag them all…
Moonvasion! Part 1: *deep inhale* D A M M I T F R A N K!
Moonvasion! Part 2: Glomgold is my new favorite villain character.

Double-O Duck in You Only Crash Twice!: We were all simping SO HARD this episode don’t think I forgot!!!

Astro B.O.Y.D.!: So much ANIME!!!!!!
The Rumble for Ragnarok!: Eh, the MCU did it better
The Phantom and the Sorceress!: Seeing Gladstone suffer brings me an odd amount of joy
They Put a Moonlander on Earth!: They’re lesbians, Harold!
The Trickening!: Did… did no one really tell Launchpad how Halloween works?
The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades!: If I had a nickel for every time a cartoon version of Ponce de Leon died a gruesome death on screen, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?
Let’s Get Dangerous!: *spoilers* THEY ARE A SUPERHERO FAMILY!!!!
Escape from the ImpossiBin!: Scrooge and Beakley are a little too excited to traumatize their family because of their trauma.

New Gods on the Block!: The most accurate representation of Zeus ever.
The First Adventure!: Young Donald is one heck of a mood.
The Fight for Castle McDuck!: The sibling culture episode.
How Santa Stole Christmas!: Charles Dickens would approve, probably.
Beaks in the Shell!: Huey ships Fendra and Gyro needs to stop hiding in the closet.
The Lost Cargo of Kit Cloudkicker!: The Battle of Theatre Kids... in the Sky!
The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck!: All the emotional weight was nearly overshadowed by One (1) attractive goth twink.
The Last Adventure Part 1; A Tale of Three Webbys!: They’re so cute! I love them!
The Last Adventure Part 2; The Lost Library of Isabella Finch!: Letting the kids on the plane is the single smartest decision Scrooge has ever made in his life.
The Last Adventure Part 3; Tale’s End!: *ugly, happy, heartbreaking sobbing* Woo-oo!

I just realize that 'Ducktales' 2017 has just a few sexual innuendos.
1. Scrooge stating Goldie makes him sweat
2. Glomgold terrified when discovers Goldie and Scrooge were stuck in an elevator
3. Mark's malicious blink to Falcon
Four, if you count Louie's joke on not making photos of feet because there would be weird.
Compared to every other cartoons I saw in my life it's a record.

WIP Wednesday
Here are 3 snippets for my Ducktale OC one shot collection:
The Pantheon was under attack.  With the piercing CLANG! of conflicting blade against blade, the various battlecries of the many warriors and enemies roared, and the rare flashes of light when a god’s power was used.  She could hear everything, as well as the footsteps against the marble surface as she ran with her mother.
As a child, I was always starving...
On Alladola Isola, the markers are bustling with on both street and river.  A spectacular circular piazza, seen from a bird’s eye, with steady narrow boats and gondolas sailing down the canals, bridges that had many marketgoers rushing back and forth to browse the many stands selling rations, produce, and different tchotchkes bought to remember a serene visit.  She hid near the fabric stand, crouching, uneven pigtails, wearing a dirty white dress shirt, and uneven overalls waiting for a clear coast.
The first thing I remember seeing, is a bamboo forest.  It was the same place Chichi and Haha said they found me, whenever my eyes glowed with curiosity.  I would sit between my parents to look at their faces blooming with affection and wisdom. This is how the tale went,

What was the point of separating Huey from the others in the beginning? It lead nowhere. I thought it was going to lead to a big moment from Huey’s character, but we got nothing. No one even knows that Huey helped Bradford (even though it was with the best of intentions).
