Bro How’d I Do This?

If I had a nickel for everyone my favourite character in a Hellaverse show:

- Was played by an actor I previously knew about and adored

- Had white skin with red facial markings

- Had like black/dark grey arms and legs (Luci’s are accessories I’m pretty sure, but still the black limbs on white body base is like MMM)

- Became increasingly hotter the more clothing they removed (I’m a simp for jacketless Luci and ripped shirt Fizz)

- Sang my favourite songs of said show

- Was famous in said show but didn’t really enjoy it

- Had a tragic backstory

- Was not mentally doing okay

- Had really cute shortened nicknames

- Was expected by the entire fandom to be an asshole but ended up being just the most adorable little guy

- Completely stole the show for the little amount of screen time they have gotten so far in their respective shows

- Had fun powers/abilities that tickle my brain fantastically (Luci’s pretty golden magic and wings and demon form, and Fizz being like ultra-stretchy 1000. You can’t tell me both of those aren’t completely enjoyable)

I’d have two motherfucking nickels, which isn’t a lot, but HOW THE FUCK DID THAT ALL HAPPEN TWICE?! (And all of that is just canon shit! There are so many more ways they connect in my headcanons)

I don't know which is crazier. The fact that Dr. Fossil is bold enough to stick his whole head in an apex predator's mouth and be confident he will not have his head taken off.. or the fact that he's actually right.

The preposterous Pied Piper makes it’s heinous debut!

With an intimidatingly permanent jolly expression to it’s face and a constant knack for laughing and giggling, it’s no question why this meticulously designed specimen is quick to make others flee! But don’t be deceived by it’s raggedy, silly exterior! For inside this humanoid build is a great multitude of… rats! A seemingly hive mind of an entity, inside of this soft sentient shell is the internal makeup of countless vermin it commands! Like seriously. They’re nothing but rats inside it. It has no other make up inside. It’s just. Rats.

But deep down, this whimsical, giggly entity has a darker origin to it’s motive. That old Mother Goose— yes, the very one after our pregnant protagonist Einin— has piqued this entity’s interest to the max. Joined along a small band of it’s equally sadistic allies, The Pied Piper has set it’s sights for control of that beastly bird with quite the cult-like obsession. Why? Who knows! Perhaps recognized power, or maybe it seeks alliance to carry out more wicked deeds alongside each other? And Einin…? She’s the utmost perfect bait to allow them to get ahold of that creature… if bait means sacrifice, in this case.

It would pull just about any trick in the book to get exactly what it wants. With a trusty smoking pipe along side him that it blows an oddly wispy essence out, it can easily lure in just about whatever it wants if the mind is feeble enough to fall impressionable to the falsified truths they will whisper. To him, nothing dare stand in it’s way of it’s cultivated goal… not even a backstabber.

hi there! your recent post had me curious: what is the parallel between meme and bring it on's lyrics that's lost in translation?

It's 俺らこそが鼓動を鳴らすべき人類 (We're the ones who should make our heartbeats ring out", or officially "We are the ones that blow the horn for justice") and はんぶんこ　鼓動を鳴らせ (Split in half, make that heart beat/make your heartbeat ring out).

To be clear I don't really expect it to represent some sort of secret super-special connection between Mikoto and Fuuta. They're far from the only songs with similar lines. For example Haruka and Shidou have a parallel that's just as strong, if not stronger, between "To take away in order to give" (Throw Down) and "Taking in order to receive" (All-Knowing and All-Agony) (originally うばうことであたえられるほうが, translated as "I will keep on killing to be your good boy"). There's also Umbilical and After Pain both putting a lot of emphasis on "I found out" with nearly the same wording.

You can go even further if you start looking for smaller matching fragments and including the covers. For example, Harrow talks about stained/dyed emotions and Throw Down talks about colorless emotions. Bring It On and Anti Beat (Kotoko's cover) share almost the same line of "How do you like the taste of sin/punishment?".

Or how about the fact that both Bring It On and Tear Drop both reference children's games, but one only in Japanese and the other only in English? You probably remember the "come marco, I'll polo" line (though interestingly the Japanese version of Marco Polo does use a similar phrase, though the wording doesn't match. It's "This way, demon, towards the sound of clapping hands" and it's used A LOT in songs and various media). Meanwhile, the "those who believe in justice, assemble!" line uses kono yubi tomare, AKA "Stop my finger", which is a way for kids to invite others to play with them. Basically you go "Those who want to play tag (or whatever), stop my finger!" and those who want to join grab it. So yeah, "assemble" but with a lot less gravitas. In context it's both kind of cute and terrifying.

And there's a lot more of minor and arguably unintentional connections. Like Bring it On uses 嘘憑 (lie-possesed) instead of the usual spelling for 'liar' (which is more like lie-spitter), just like in Psychogam. But this also shows in other Deco*27 songs like Fake Actor and Ghost Rule. Or "I found out how much I'm not needed" vs "The things that aren’t here, and the unneeded things, are they still living somewhere?" (After Pain and Weakness). Or "Is it ok if I breathe" vs "If you damaged someone's dream to the point it's not breathing anymore" vs pretty much all of Two Breaths Walking (After Pain and Harrow). Or how both This Is How to Be In Love With You and Otome Dissection have a scene of a needy girl waking up her boyfriend with a phone call. Both Muu and Haruka crouching and clutching their heads near the one-minute mark in AKAA and After Pain. Etc etc.

I actually wrote a whole .doc comparing lyrics, but this is the most relevant stuff. After that it basically just becomes nothing but "Hey, this word that appears in this song is in that one too!".
