when existence or when hope is gone : soc jane austen / regency au
"And have you made this entire call without once vexing or offending poor Miss Ghafa?” Captain Rietveld looked coolly at him. Inej bent her head over her sewing to hide her smiling, since she was not sure she would not laugh outright. She had not thought that Wylan would deliberately provoke the Captain, but perhaps his deference to his father did not reach anyone else. “I am sure that is not for me to decide,” said the Captain, “But I own I have been perfectly well behaved.” “Does he lie, Miss Ghafa?” “No— he has been quite tolerable company,” said Inej. “If not quite a perfect gentleman.” “You wound me, Miss Ghafa.” “I suspect I do not, Captain.”
contextual and explanatory notes about regency literary and social conventions are below the cut if you have questions during/after reading! plus some trivia for fun :)
The redacting of certain place names (—shire, — Street) is accurate to lots of old novels, where you will see it from time to time. I think it was a deliberate omission to avoid libel accusations if they accidentally invoked somewhere or someone real, or to also avoid confusing people if it contradicted real life. I used it here both to mimic the style, and also because that way didn't have to pick streets or regions lol.
The 'cut direct' was a social nuke and Kaz has balls of steel for using it on an older man who is his social superior 💀 if you very deliberately stared at and then blanked a previous acquaintance who had greeted you, it severed a relationship or acquaintance forever and could also make people turn on the person being cut. Pekka could have challenged him to a duel for it, but sensibly I think he saw the lapse in logic in giving a pistol to a soldier who holds you responsible for his brother's death and letting him shoot at you
A reticule is one of those dumb tiny handbags that regency ladies had
Governesses were in a uniquely vulnerable position. Not genteel enough for the family while not technically a servant, they tended to be isolated. While they were ofc not comparable to what Inej canonically goes through, many were abused by the families they worked for, rivalled the mothers for their children's affection, and some were harassed and abused by husbands or male visitors. There's a reason Jane Fairfax does not want to be one in Emma.
The navy lists are a publication that, unsurprisingly, list all the men, their ranks, and their ships currently trundling around on campaign. Kaz checks them to see who is still alive and to backseat drive campaigns (what's new!) and Wylan waits on tenterhooks for him to find Jesper. Which he always does because he was already looking for him.
Married couples did not tend to call one another by their given names, at least not in company; Nina and Matthias do it because they have a fond disrespect for one another. Or Nina does anyway and it's rubbed off on Matthias.
Although Kaz and Inej are comparatively very young, twenty six is pushing it for the 'marriageability' of young women; Anne Elliot was twenty seven and was considered to have lost the 'bloom' of her youth, so she is being bourne down upon a bit.
The money concerns in Persuasion— landed gentry losing money and soldiers becoming 'new' money in the war via prize money, but still being looked down upon by the old nobility— are kinda reflected through Kaz and Jesper.
(to be so honest I do not quite understand how the regency economy worked but I figured that like, no one else reading this does either, unless ur a regency specialist. if you are, sorry. how's academia?)
I think we're actually not quite yet at the peak of the 'scandal sheet' Bridgerton-Lady-Whistledown craze, but I couldn't possibly deprive Kaz and Inej of their fishmarket wife gossip habit in any universe.
I also hate Lord Byron. Next!
Nina, Matthias, and Inej are not at the Wesper wedding because regency weddings were super tiny affairs that only had v close / local family and friends at them
I think the circumstances of Kaz and Jordie having been minor landed gentry having to join the navy out of necessity may be a bit of a stretch but... Well I had to think of something to replicate Kaz's backstory with. The easier solution would have been for them to marry rich but I can see Jordie thinking that trying to marry Kaz 'Cut Direct' Rietveld off to a Duchess might be a bit tough
A trousseau was the collection of clothes that women bought before they were married; it was an expected thing, to send brides off with new clothes. Nina and Mrs Ghafa (and Jesper) are a lot more interested in this than poor Inej is lol.
The made up house names are entirely inside jokes with myself. Geldings references horses but is actually a play on the Geldstraat, Crawley means 'clearing frequented by crows', Stavewell is a play on the Stave where Tante Heleen and the Menagerie are, and I think Trasselwood is fairly obvious lol.

What inspired you to split the dueling peaks in your story, I’m very curious 👀
thanks for the question!!
an NPC (german name is Sohai) in botw at the stable next to the twin mountains tells you about a legend that it was one mountain once but were split by a dragon-deity to make this passage; its meant to hint to the botw dragons and intice you to go to the (botw) floria lake since thats where farodra (lightning botw dragon) resides-
BUT i thought that would be a neat thing to use in destiny instead, legends change over time after all and the three deities (hylia, 'demise', 'courage') are very draconic, especially so in their true forms; in chapter 3 hylia and demise fight (unsurprisingly) again and it sorta escalates with demise ending up at that mountain .. or IN that mountain really, and proceeds to split it in two (its not directly shown but he does use his true form for it) to get out AND to make a point (also him angry), creating that passage allowing water to flood into what is the kakriko/hateno region in botw but isnt inhabited at the time of my story
so the legend isnt untrue, but not quite correct either (also very very ancient), it WAS one mountain once, it wasnt one of the actual dragons who split it in two, but demise in true appearance, it did create a passageway but that was more coincidentally
basically, i saw that NPC told that legend and rubbed my dirty lil hands together snickering how i can steal that for my comic hnfjksnhjksd

Chapter Twenty-Six: Dancing? Here? (written for @zelinktines24 day 26 prompt)
Read below or HERE
On their third day of traveling to Hateno, they stop at Dueling Peaks for the night. It’s Zelda’s least favorite stable, but it’s getting late, and Celeste’s plaintive meows have gradually increased to ear-splitting howls at being cooped up in her traveling basket.
While Link haggles with the owner, Tasseren, convincing him to allow Link to exchange his unused pony points for two Malanya horse hair beds, Zelda unlatches the lid. Celeste springs out, landing on all fours and hissing her displeasure before leaping onto a nearby haybale.
“Don’t go far!” Zelda calls after her, removing an overnight bag from Star’s saddle bag.
Thanking the stablehand, Rensa, when he takes the horses’ reins and leads them to the barn, Zelda wanders to the edge of the stable perimeter. Beneath the canopy of a nearby stage, a musical troupe is setting up. A short roly-poly of a man directs them from his spot by an easel emblazoned with the name, Stable Trotters. Traveling musicians. That’s something new, Zelda doesn’t recall from before. She marvels that despite everything she and Link have been forced to endure, everyday life goes on. She supposes it’s a blessing that the common Hylian has no idea the cost of such freedom, to travel the roads of Hyrule unmolested by Guardians, monsters, or otherwise.
She moves as if in a trance further out onto the plain, following the deepening shadows of the night that encroach to cover Blatchery Plain and Ash Swamp. Zelda despises this place with every fiber of her being, but try as she might, she can’t seem to stop the tread of her feet. She leaves faint silvery footprints in the flattened, dew-drenched grass as she approaches an overgrown hill of crumbling rubble standing in the center of the swamp. When the squishing sound of her boots in the damp mud seeps through the sudden roaring in Zelda’s ears, she stops.
It was here, on a rainy night, one hundred plus years ago that Link was felled by a Guardian’s laser because she’d unlocked her power too late to save him and the other Champions. But the sword he’ll wield for just a short while longer had instructed her on how to save him. If Link’s correct, and Zelda dares to hope, it seems they’ve come full circle.
The swamp and surrounding area have long been cleared of the hulking remains of the Guardians that littered the area. They’ve been stripped of any valuable machinery and the strong, durable metal melted down to be repurposed into all manner of weapons–swords, lances, bows, and shields.
She looks to the walls of Fort Hateno that have been repaired, and are now patrolled by several of the new guard that Link trained. Beyond is one of many army camps set up through all the regions of Hyrule, to protect and uphold the peace.
Zelda startles when arms wrap around her waist, until Link whispers in her ear. “What are you doing out here?”
Turning in his arms, her gaze locks onto his bright blue eyes. Otherwise, he’s silhouetted by the flickering flames from the stable beyond, and a soft breeze blows his hair to obscure his face. If not for his warm hands on her hips, Zelda would think he’s a ghost. To be sure, she catches the stray locks of hair with her fingers, tucks them securely behind his ears and presses her lips to his. They’re soft, pliable, and real, and return her kiss without hesitation.
The faint strains of a waltz drift over the deserted plain, and when they break apart, Link takes her hands, placing one on his shoulder while keeping the other firmly in his grasp.
“Dance with me.”
“Dancing? Here?” Zelda shakes her head, taken aback. He can’t be serious, dancing upon the site where he’d died in her arms. Even after all the years, she can still feel the cold dampness of the swamp counterpointed by his warm blood seeping through her gown.
“It’s time to let it go, Zelda. All of our past failings and regrets.” Link presses his hand lightly against the small of her back, and begins guiding her in a languid circle there on that soggy, muddy plain.
Despite her misgivings, with each step, she feels a little more of her fear and remorse flutter away on the wings of a silent prayer.

THE START OF A DYNASTY: THE HEIR OF CASTERLY ROCK
Hello writers!
We are traveling again thank you for your patience as we have worked out the details for OUR FIRST EVENT IN THE WESTERLANDS (Starting today April 8th and ending April 21st). Our muses find themselves in the Kingdom of Tyland Lannister as the king prepares to present the heir to the throne, Prince Arthur Lannister. Beneath the cut you will find a breakdown of housing, locations, and events.
Casterly Rock is carved out of a colossal stone hill beside the Sunset Sea. It is popularly believed to resemble a lion in repose at sunset. The Rock is two leagues (six miles) long from west to east and has a width of two miles from north to south. Its peak is about 2,100 feet high which makes it three times as high as the highest point of the Wall and taller than the Hightower of Oldtown too.
All Westerland courtiers, royals and the families of the hands will stay within the Rock while all council members of other regions will stay in Lannisport with their families.
Locations:
The Stone Garden is a godswood in a cave within the Rock. It contains a twisted weirwood whose tangled roots have almost filled the cave, choking out all other growth. (Casterly)
The Lion's Tor is an ancient place of history within the Westerlands, roughly an hours ride away from Casterly Rock if the weather is good and the roads are clear. Search "The Lion's Tor" in the server for more details about this ancient location.
Cliffside Theatre is a location built along the cliffs.
The Great Sept of Lannisport; Domina Nostra In Septem Caelum: Information found here.
Events/Activities:
Lann's Day: Each year upon the first of june, the westerlands celebrates lann's day. The festival is centered within the city of Lannisport; highly decorated and filler with various competitions based on wit and intellect, colorful tents holding produce, and dances conducted by singers and storytellers. When in public it is expect for one to usually wear a mask in order to conceal their identity. Once the sun beings to set a game begins where people will attempt unmark each other, should you be unmasked you are expected to pay up a fee. Whoever collects the most amount of coins from unmasking people through the night will be crowned the day's "king" or "queen". Note: The Festival has a dubious reputation, and noble women are chaperoned around the city.
The Fair Games: The decorated warriors of Fair Isle put on performances of strength whether they are taking part in duels, gladiatorial style contests such as fighting lions or bears, and fears known to the Fair Isle Warriors. This is a show as much as it is a demonstration of strength.
The King's Games: These are your standard games that take place during these large gatherings; jousting, melee, archery, and the like.
Chariot Racing: An event, much like the King's Games, are open to the public. It's fierce competition much beloved by Highborns and smallfolk alike .
Justice Gallery: This allows people to go and watch a trial, another popular pastime among many in the region.
Mount Market: A popular market that's often filled to bursting with or without a major event happening, you can find many items here, even a few you're not meant to have.
Port Settlements: Dotted in and around Lannister lands, namely near the water, these locations offer beaches and alcoves for visitors and residents alike.
Smuggling Caves: Dens of smugglers, purchase even more illegal wares here and perhaps find some trouble.
The Ghost Ship: A wrecked ship people sneak on to and explore. Many swear there are ghost and you can hear the sounds of the crew preparing the leave if you're there at morning.

Pokémutations: Polycreaty
Originally it was believed to affect only field-group species with horns, but more extensive documentation has disproved this theory. The truth is that any pokemon with horns is capable of being born with this mutation
This pokemutation is most well-known in gogoat and dubwool offspring, as dubwool fathers often have the chance of passing down the genes for their lower horns onto their skiddo babies, gifting the mount pokemon with four horns instead of its usual two. However, it has been proven that this is not the only case for polycreates of these pokemon to occur. Some skiddo/gogoat and wooloo/dubwool have been found with this mutation without hybridization, including one particularly shocking instance of a professor's assistant in Galar hatching and evolving a dubwool with a whopping eight horns!
Some the most notable examples of obscure/non-field group polycreates include:
Four-horned aggron and houndoom found in the wild and under the care of trainers
A wild Paldean cetitan recently spotted with three upper jaw horns (still has yet to be captured)
Corsola found with extra horns grown on random parts of their bodies
One infamous scolipede in Pinwheel Forest with horns that ran along its entire back that was famously stopped from a rampage by a rag-tag team of bug catchers
And of course mythical sightings of duel-horned absol on the highest mountain peaks in various regions (due to never being caught it is unknown if these are mistakes made by people who have viewed its mega-evolution in the wild as opposed to true born mutations, though most sighting insist on the horns being of equal length)
These mutations do in fact increase the attack stats of these individual pokemon and due to this some tournaments have tried to ban them from being used by trainers, although these bans are only ever warranted if the pokemon with polycreaty is known to be at a higher risk of severely injuring itself or its opponents with its extra horns

Days thirty-four and thirty-five in Tears of the Kingdom:
So, turns out that the caves on Dueling Peaks are not marked by the Satori markers! Whether this is a deliberate design decision by the developers, or just an oversight because there's so much of the mountains directly above the cave entrances, I don't know. Point is, I only figured out where those caves are after I looked them up, and got another piece of the Tingle set.
After this, I had to look up another piece, this one associated with the Gerudo warrior statues. Turns out that I had completely forgotten that the one the riddle referred to was in the mountains, and not in the desert - but at least I had no issues with solving how to get into that cave.
I tried to look around prison island (the one near Hyrule Castle) once more, in the hopes of figuring out how to get into the Depths there. . . I still didn't manage it.
Went after the riddles for the awakening set, which were easy enough to figure out, even if it did leave me sorta confused that you get the quests for these one after another instead of all at once
Headed to the tower near Gerudo with no clear goal in mind. . . only to directly discover the cherry tree there, which basically set the goal for me then and there: exploring caves around the region.
Happened upon another Yiga hideout, and did their exam for an officer
Explored a couple of caves in the desert
Went a bit all over the place, doing various Korok Puzzles and clearing some sidequests

Story Summary:
A Star Wars Episode IX story using elements of "The Rise of Skywalker" & "Duel of the Fates" with a happy ending.
As the Resistance mounts a last ditch mission to break through the transmission blockade on the First Order Capitol of Coruscant, the last Jedi Rey races towards the hidden planet of Exegol to stop the return of the Sith...
Chapter Summary:
Supreme Leader Kylo Ren sets out across the galaxy in search of the secrets of the Sith...
Excerpt:
Kylo Ren, Supreme Leader of the First Order, couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation as the dropship carrying him and a squad of elite stormtroopers descended into the planet of Mustafar.
His journey to Mustafar felt to him like a pilgrimage of sorts, visiting the planet his grandfather, the great Sith Lord Darth Vader, once resided.
Yes, he was the Supreme Leader, the de-facto Emperor of the galaxy, far surpassing anything his grandfather had accomplished in life, but Kylo still sought his guidance, and his guidance was what led him here.
Kylo had accomplished so much since slaying his master Snoke and taking his place at the head of the First Order nearly a year and a half ago. He had taken the First Order from a nomadic military junta that still hid in the Unknown Regions to heights that rivaled the Empire at its peak. His Order occupied every single major inhabited planet. He re-conquered Coruscant and made his capitol, just as Emperor Palpatine did during his reign.
Yet despite his enormous success, Kylo was still as troubled as ever. The Resistance had gained little ground since he decimated them on Crait, yet they still remained persistent.
The Resistance... led by his mother. Leia. When the moment came before during the attack on Resistance’s then flagship the Raddus... he couldn't press the trigger to finish her with his TIE Silencer's missiles. He wasn’t sure he'd be able to do it even if given another opportunity. He wasn’t sure he'd be able to murder her like he did his father. A deed that continued to haunt him nearly two years on.
The Resistance... joined by the scavenger. The last Jedi.
She had rejected him and betrayed him after he risked everything and offered her everything. He thought she was different, but she was just like everyone else. Just like Luke Skywalker. Betrayers. Liars. He was not bluffing when he promised his bastard of an uncle that he would destroy her and their precious Jedi Order. All of it.
He hated her. He hated that yet a part of him still felt everything but hate for her.
Rey.

A Hero’s Sacrifice, Memory 17
Tumblr media
Another purple portal appeared in front of the nine heroes, calling them to walk through the ominous purple portal.
“Where do you think we’ll be next?” Wind asked staring at the portal
“I don’t know, but anywhere but Hyrule’s” Legend huffed, crossing his arms
“What do you mean by that?!” Hyrule yelled, only backing down when Time placed a hand on his shoulder.
“We won’t know till we get there.” Time stated.
Wild nodded and looked behind him to Twilight, they both grew closer, along with Time, they were closer than the other heroes. Time had his suspicions that Wild was a descendant of Twilight, they were just too similar.
“You two alright?” Time asked as the other started to walk through the portal, though they were hesitant.
Wild nodded, not many words come out of the young hero’s mouth, only nods and simple looks of interest, disgust, anger. Twilight was expressive as well, though he used more of his words than simple facial features.
“You good Cub?” Twi asked the blue cladded hero, who simply shook his head yes.
The three followed the other six and walked through the portal. It took a minute for all of them to properly stable themselves from the sudden nausea. The first to recover was Wild, who knew where they were immediately. They were in his Hyrule. He knew where they were too, they landed just outside of Dueling Peaks Region one that many in the land dubbed Hylia.
Time blinked at the new surroundings, going around making sure everyone was okay. They all seemed disoriented, though that seemed to be normal whenever they actually traveled through those portals. Time then turned to Wild, who held a face of worry and anxiety.
“Hey, cub? You okay?” Time asked, walking over and catching the attention of the others.
“We’re in my Hyrule.” Was all Wild signed.
“Woah! You’re Hyrule is massive!” Wind gushed.
Wild smiled and pulled out his slate, one that fascinated some and scared the living hell out of Legend. Wild’s face didn’t have any emotion in it, it scared Twilight and Time, who looked at each other in worry. “If we head to Lanayru, we should be safe. Maybe even Kakariko.” Wild signed and placed the slate back on his hip.
“Are you sure? Would we be safe there?” Sky asked
Wild nodded. “I’m sure. Just let me go change quickly. It would make it easier for me.” he concluded and left to go behind a couple of thicker trees.
“Is he okay?” Wind asked “His face wasn’t normal.”
“I don’t think any of us are normal. If he wants to talk he’ll talk.” Time smiled.
They continued a meaningless conversation, it was probably about different food and which was better. Time tuned them out a while ago. He kept looking back at the tree that Wild had disappeared behind. When he did a final time, Wild returned with a different set of armour, unlike the one he normally wears when in other worlds. Twilight followed the elder’s gaze and landed on the younger one.
Wild donned his Stealth suit, one that he picked up in the beginning of his journey at Kakariko Village. It helped him hunt, fight, and obviously move quicker, he always wore it whenever he could. He rushed to move to the front as he was tying his hair into the two sticks.
“What’s with the get up?” Four asked
“It’s my stealth set. Helps me move quickly and silently.” Wild explained, “Many different areas sell clothing with enhancements to their area. Well, the Zora’s don’t, but I’ll have to ask Sidon about it.” Wild signs then fixed the scarf of the set.
“You remind me of Sheik.” Time stated
“Who?” Wind asked
“Well, she was Princess Zelda, it was a disguise that helped her get away from Ganon.” TIme simplified.
“Oh yeah! My Zelda did that too!” Warriors he smiled at the memory.
“Is that normal from some Zelda’s?” Legend asked as everyone started following Wild.
“No? I mean Tetra is a pirate, and She’s a Zelda.” Wind explained.
“Tetra is Zelda?” Four questioned
“Yeah, She doesn’t like to be called a Princess or Zelda anyways.” Wind laughed at the expression Four and Legend held.
“They are all different.” Twilight laughed leading most to agree with him.
Wild looked at his slate, since he was in the middle of Twilight and Time, they looked at the map, which was previously blank when they first met up. The map was covered with blue dots and tiny ones that looked like towers. Twilight was fascinated with the amount that covered the world.
Wild saw how both of the heroes were glancing down at his slate and slightly smiled as he went to this weapon, which seemed to have changed. He noticed the Master sword and Hesitated before summoning it and taking the place of the one Sword crafted for him. He was going to figure out how to break that sword eventually.
They were suddenly stopped by a rumble in the ground and the sound of an Elephant yelling. Wild looked to the Lanayru region and they saw a mechanical beast sitting atop of the mountain. Many were amazed by the sheer size of the beast, Wild held a look of terror, eyes glazed as he looked up.
“What was that?!” Legend yelled.
“One of the four divine beasts.” Wild stated, his answers seemed to be shorter and shorter each time.
“The what?” Twilight asked
“The divine beasts are Shekiah technology from 10,000 years ago, they each have a champion controlling it. They are massive and could probably take out an entire mountain.” Wild explained quickly.
“Well, which was it?” Wind asked
“Vah Ruta, piloted by Prince Sidon of the Zora.” Wild smiled, “Also my boyfriend.”
“Your boyfriend is a prince?” Legend asked
“I didn’t like princesses so, Hylia gave me a prince instead.” Wild joked, which was normal.
Hyrule choked on his water that he had pulled out some time ago, the others laughed at his misfortune. Wild smiled and looked forward, quickly placing his fingers to his mouth and whistling.
“What was that for?” Four asked
“I was calling my horse, she can help hold our things.” Wind explained right as a horse started running to them.
The horse was wearing something that covered it’s entire upper half, it was glowing orange and blue. Time found Wild’s world fascinating. They had just an open area to find what Hylia wanted them to do.
Once everyone placed what they needed on the horse, she followed close to Wild, who grabbed her reins to guide her. Twilight smiled at how Wild was connected to the animals that they’ve encountered.
They soon arrived at a stable, the sun was setting and Wild suggested they stayed there for the night. They cooked some food, Wild was talking to Beetle, which Sky though was weird cause he was also in his world.
Wind played with the cuccos, scaring literally everyone who messed with them. Wild laughed at their faces. Commenting how they weren’t that bad, just attacked when provoked. They all sat near the campfire, Wild seemed to look at a pile of what looked to be over turned urns, with massive long legs. Time followed his gaze and frowned, he looked like he had seen a ghost.
The Links knew little of Wild. They knew that he had died and was put into the Shrine of Resurrection, but never further than that. He also held the slate close to his being, only so far letting Time and Twilight hold onto it. They had numerous pictures, ones of him and the group of Links, and others of places that they assumed to be his Hyrule.
“Hey, Wild?” Wind asked while looking at the glowing shrine.
Wild hummed looking at the youngest.
“How many of those glowing shrines are there?” Wild followed the younger's gaze.
“I believe about 132, including the ones the original champions used to gain access to the divine beasts.” The older informed
“And you went through all of those?” Hyrule exclaimed causing Wild to shake his head, with a small smile at the brightness in his eyes.
Time smiled at the little group, who started to do their own thing. Wild started cooking with Wind, something about Wind’s Grandmother’s soup. Sky was looking at Wild’s Master Sword with a confused expression. Legend and Hyrule were playing with the animals round the back of the stable. Twilight was starting to walk over to where Wild was staring at.
“What are you over here for?” Time asked while looking at his protégé
“The look on the cub's face looked like he was relieving something. I don’t see anything that could be anything that emotionally connects him to here.” Twilight stressed and then both of their vision went white.
They regained their vision with a view of a guardian as Wild had explained on their trip to the stable. The field was swarming with these mechanical beasts. Time felt sorrow from the place in front of him. Twilight felt fear and pain for some unknown reason.
They spotted one that moved to two figures, one the two immediately knew, It was Wild. Kneeling on the ground with the Master Sword holding him up. Behind him is what the two assumed to be his Zelda, who wore a dirty, white, gown with gold bracelets, looking like she came from something important.
“Link, save yourself! Go!” Zelda exclaimed “I’ll be fine! Don’t worry about me!”
Twilight felt a lump in his throat, this must be ones of Wild’s many memories that he kept from them. Time felt like he was invading his friend's past. There seemed to be nothing he could do about it.
Wild got back up, giving them a clear view of the younger face. It held the beginning of his face scar, his blue tunic was somehow intact. Just from one look you could tell that he was badly injured but still fought.
Time turned to see one of the many guardians looming over the two, letting out an audible gasp, he caught Twilight's attention, who then looked in horror as Wild stood up to fight the mechanical spider.
The eye of the guardian showed a bright red, quickly tracking Wild with a laser. Just as it was about to shoot, Zelda shoved Wild behind her and stood before the beast.
“No!” She shouted as she raised her right hand, which now glowed with the Triforce of Wisdom. She created a beam of light that spread into a huge bubble of light, killing many guardians that were in the field.
Multiple Guardians collapsed where they stood Twilight and Time looked relieved that she had stopped them. Twilight turned quickly to Wild who was swaying. He heard Zelda talk about her sealing power, but he paid no mind and he stood helpless watching Wild collapse.
Zelda heard him and started pleading. She was sobbing ‘no’ a couple of times. She crouched next to Wild, she picked his head up and looked him in the eyes. “Link! Get up!” she sobbed while shaking the said hero.
Wild let out a series of coughs and looked up at Zelda. He looked worse by the minute. Twilight became worried, he felt tears run down his face. Looking at his brother in arms dying. Time was the same, though he held back his sorrow and placed an arm around Twilight to comfort him somehow.
“You’re going to be just fine…” Zelda promised, Wild gave her a look and then went limp.
Twilight collapsed, he couldn’t hold himself up any longer. Time understood. Those two were as thick as thieves. He treats Wild the same way Time treated twilight during his journey. They both heard Zelda sobbing, Time noticed a couple Sheikah who arrived.
She commanded that they take Wild to the Shrine of Resurrection, stating that if he didn’t get there soon they were going to lose him forever, she expressed that his life was now in their hands. The vision started to fade.
Twilight moved forward a little. This time, he felt hot tears run down his face. He looked at Time, who was having a hard time keeping his emotions in check. They both starred at the field. They didn’t even hear the sound of Wild approaching them.
“Guys? You okay? Wind called you like 5 times.” Wild laughed, then stopped when he noticed Twilight's tears, he then started to worry.
“Are you okay? Did something happen.” Wild rushed to face Twilight who closed his eyes.
“Yeah….I just miss home that's all.” Twilight gave a watered smile. Wild seemed to believe him.
“There are some kids in Kakariko, I’m sure you can bond with them while we’re here.” Wild smiled and moved both of the men to the stable, “We should eat. I finally perfected Wind’s Grandma’s soup!”
The two ancestors looked in shock, how could he go through that and still be able to joke and cook. Twilight smiled at how strong Wild was. He looked behind him one last time, then turned to walk to the campfire.
~Next Day~
Wild got up early. Surprising Hyrule and Time. He usually was one few to get up last. Wild smiled and he was happy to be home. He knew this Hyrule like the back of his own hand. Not needing a map as much as he did in the beginning of his journey.
“What are you doing up so early?” Time asked with a joking smile. Wild shrugged and started to gather a few things from the bags they carried. He remembered that he had access to his slate’s food inventory. He pulled things out from there and started to make breakfast.
“Hey Wild, where did you learn how to cook?” Hyrule asked, making Time flinch ever so slightly
“Dunno. I knew I had the knowledge after I came out of the Shrine of Resurrection. Maybe my family. Maybe something I just picked up after. I don’t know.” Wild informed from the pot boiling in front of him.
The morning went on quietly. Everyone eventually got up and they packed up and headed to Kakariko Village. Wild kept looking behind him and analyzing different travelers. This piqued Legend’s interest.
“What are you so paranoid about Wild?” Legend asked from beside Hyrule.
“Well, when you have a clan of assassins trying to kill you throughout hyrule, it's something you get used to doing.” Wild sighed “Though I stopped doing that.”
“People were trying to kill you?” Wind asked
“I mean yeah? Here put this on. I don’t want them shooting the wrong Link.” Wild summoned a Hylain hood from his clothing, handing it to the smaller.
“Why?” Wind asked taking the cloak
“We both wear a bright blue tunic, and they’ve seen me in my Sheikah Armor, so they might not. It’s just to ease my mind, yeah?” Wild smiled, earning a nod from the small boy.
They made the short trek to Kakariko, which was quite peaceful, though most of the Links stayed away from Cado’s cuccos. Wild smiled and waved at a few of the townsfolk.
“Link! Just the person I was looking for.” Cado called
Wild looked next to him and smiled, giving him a wave of his hand. As he urged Cado to speak.
“Yes, well. You know how Queen Zelda has been working on repairs throughout Hyrule?” Cado asked, earning a nod from Wild and gaining the interest of the others.
“Well, last I heard, they finally completed the reconstruction of Lon Lon Ranch. The Queen said it was special to her, so she fixed it up quite quickly.” Cado expressed
Twilight threw Time a look of concern, while Time stood there with a grin on his face. His and Malon’s ranch lasted centuries after he died. Time looked at Twilight and smiled. The other eight looked at the face of the ninth, he looked happier than ever.
He frantically signed to Cado saying he had to go talk with Impa, to which Cado practically shoved them to the elder’s house. Wild looked up to the house wedges in between a crevasse of a mountain. It almost reminded Twilight of his little village town, though it seemed much more built up.
They climbed the stairs and Wild opened the door, under an arch sat a short grey haired woman, who wore a large hat that had Sheikah eyes made of some type of metal hanging from it and a large red Sheikah eye in the middle of the hat.
“It has been quite a while Link. To what do I owe the pleasure?” Impa asked, bringing her head up from her slouched position.
Wild let a small smile grace his scared features, making the others somewhat shocked, as he was not one to express emotion. Impa gazed at the other eight. She tilted her head and let out a laugh.
“More than one spirit of the hero?” Impa asked, shocking the others
“I guess.” Wild spoke up, leaving the others slightly shocked again.
Wild’s voice was soft, but had a rough undertone. It showed that he was still young but had obviously not used his voice in a while. Twilight smiled at the elder and got to explaining what was going on. Time helped when he could. Wild was messing with the slate and had an alarmed face.
“Impa?” Wild asked, causing the men to stop explaining.
“Yes, Link?” she responded
‘What’s wrong with the Divine beasts? Ruta was yelling, she hasn’t done that since I defeated the Calamity.” Wild stressed, the others now noticing a slight country accent, similar to Twilights.
“That is of the most recent concern. Divine Beast Vah Medoh was also acting up from the information the Teba had delivered not to long ago. Now it is Ruta. I would go check Zora’s Domain. The king is most likely going to send a Zora here to deliver the news.” Impa informed
Wild nodded and turned to walk out, Legend and Hyrule caught his face before he left, it was cold and not as playful as it usually is. Hyrule looked at Legend and then at Time. He was about to speak when Twilight spoke up.
“Impa?” He asked
“Yes, Hero?” she looked up at him.
“Yesterday, when we were at the stable. Me and Time were looking at an area filled with dead guardians. We saw a memory of Wild’s.” Twilight informed, Impa’s face turned into one of sadness.
“Ah, the Hero’s Fall.” Impa stated
“How did we see that? They are his memories, we shouldn’t see things like that.” Time asked, grabbing Wind’s shirt from the books sitting near a picture on the wall.
“I could only assume it is because you share either spirit or blood. Hylia is a very confusing Goddess. Wild started his training young, he was eight or nine I believe.” Impa smiled sadly.
“He was younger than me?” Wind asked no one in particular. He looked down then rushed to find Wild, probably for reassurance. They knew impa understood.
“I remember meeting Link for the first time. He was helping out around at Lon Lon Ranch, a place he practically grew up in. The King found that he had the hero’s mark and immediately started training him.” Twilight saw red. The king of the land forces training onto a kid. Warriors were in shock.
“How dare he!” Legend raged having heard of the King's actions.
Impa nodded and told them to take care of him, he was a stubborn one. Time smiled, and shoved everyone out of the old woman's house. They spotted the two youngest at a cooking pot. Wild was smiling at Wind, who seemed to be dramatically telling a story about him and Tetra.
Wild noticed Time and the others who simply nodded, signifying that he was okay. They all started to get settled, Wild showed them the Inn that they were staying at, and then headed out to the pot, where Wild made a Creamy Meat Stew, one of Legend and Warrior’s favorites.
They all just hung out around the fire, eating and joking they all eventually retired to bed. Wild was the last to go to bed. Having a routine when he was in the village. He finally laid down.

now that i've got the DLCs i've been reliving old memories retracing my steps with the Hero's Path feature, so in the spirit of a nice stroll down memory lane, i hereby present to you all:
retrace my steps boy
(aka Dumb Stuff i did when first starting botw)
ran the entire Great Plateau butt ass naked because i never noticed the clothes in the shrine of resurrection
eventually got the warm doublet from the old man (but continued running around without pants literally all the way to Kakariko Village)
died 8 times before ever leaving the Great Plateau
died another 5 times immediately after leaving the Great Plateau yet before crossing the first river
spent a truly ridiculous amount of time at the Dueling Peaks stable and its surroundings because i didn't wanna leave the horsies
finally made it to Kakariko Village. got pants!!!!!! (proceeded to spend a ridiculous amount of time there too)
eventually made my way to Hateno Village upon my trusty horsie, did a buncha stuff there, then teleported back and forth between Hateno, Kakariko, Dueling Peaks, and the Great Plateau no less than 15 times for very little apparent reason
went all the way through the Lanayru Promenade to find the memory picture. met my first lynel. got killed and immediately hopped back on my horse and turned right back around all the way back
finally started on my way to Zora's Domain through the wetlands! saw the region tower, thought "nahh it looks blocked i must be supposed to do that later," and spent the next 3 hours of gameplay slowly and miserably zigzagging my way through the path with no map (dying 4 times along the way)

–––– ✧  BOTW VERSE
- Jellal was born at Dueling Peaks Stable however he was raised in a small lodge at the ruins of the former Fort Hateno. His father was a former blacksmith from Hateno village, turned traveling merchant, while his mother was a former teacher.
- Living in Fort Hateno, hearing the stories of old & seeing the ruins, what were once guardians. It peaked his interest to know more about what happened, the history of hyrule & about the once running machines themselves.  His father passed away from a monster attack when Jellal was only 16 years old, this also added to the fuel.
- His mother is the one that taught Jellal all he needed to know when it came to reading & writing. She sparked his interested, drove his passions towards knowledge & showed him the stars above. His mothers parents had once been astrologers back when they were alive, an interest passed onto their daughter & now passed onto him. His mother passed when he was 24 years old.
- He studied under the tutelage of Ivan ( @reivun ) when he was first getting out, back in Akkala. Jellal still studies under him but has branched off more onto his own. He now lives in the Southern Akkala region, a living space & research facility of his own making, near to the South Akkala Stable.
