Hey. It’s been awhile. A lot has happened. I’m not sure how to even start with all of it. Not sure I even should, really.

Anyhow. I know most of us are Detectives. I know my offer is really late, and I’m sorry. But if anyone needs to talk about anything, relating to the end of our case or not, I’m here :)

Which leads me into the reason I’m writing this letter, other than to establish I’m not dead. Does anyone know where their Jake is? Or what happened to him? I’ve been trying to look, but I don’t have any leads. Other than the mines, but I haven’t found much there yet

Oh, whoops, there might be new people reading this. Crash course: supernatural things exist, I’m a version of the amateur detective whose “phone number” was sent to Thomas in the Duskwood case, I say “a version” because alternate universes exist and this letter exchange goes to quite a few people and universes, call me Yu, I have a “twin” nicknamed Troublemaker, yes those are nicknames and not our real names because almost no one here uses real names, and this letter has been sent to who knows how many other people too, most of them in the same position as us or at least having some connection to the Duskwood case.

I’ll try to catch anyone new up in further detail on request.

Quick updates on situations for people who have been following for longer: Venn is dead. Flower is alive again for some reason. There’s a new ruthless killer entity running around, who doesn’t have a name I know of but is usually called “that child” or “The Child”. Don’t be fooled by the name, she’s bad news. Inky’s... changed. Not as cruel, at least to us. There’s so many other things, but I don’t even know where to start with all of them, so I guess I’ll leave it at that for now.

Despite everything, it’s oddly nice to be writing again. Though I gotta wonder if anyone’s going to respond this time.

MC stepped out of the police station, relieved to have finally finished the last report on the Hannah case, feeling the warmth of the sun on their face and the crisp spring air filling their lungs. They glanced at their watch, already mentally mapping out their route to the next town where their expertise was needed. But before they could take another step, a mysterious figure clad in black approached them, sunglasses hiding his eyes, a hood obscuring his features.

"Are you MC?" he asked, his voice low and gravelly.

They nodded cautiously as he handed them a sealed envelope without another word. Without waiting for a response, the enigmatic figure vanished into the bustling street. Intrigued and slightly unnerved, MC tore open the letter, their curiosity piqued by the unexpected delivery, despite already having a premonition about the sender of this letter..

As I sit here, penning these words to you, my heart races with both excitement and trepidation. The events that unfolded during our recent mission have left me both exhilarated and wounded, both physically and emotionally. But above all else, they've left me longing for your reassuring presence.

I need a hugo favor from my girlie gamer friends.

Just a quick couple of questions for you.

I am working on a MAJOR project with several hands on it.

I'm taking mobile and pc capabilities.

The video game of about 14 days of game play in real-time or probably 40 hours in free play time.

1) Have you played any games in the "found phone" or "chat sim" genre?

2) Have you played games that have multiple routes for romancing characters?

3) In those games, how do you prefer your romance and the games story to balance out? (rough percentages are fine)

4) Do you want to have at least one female Romantic option?

5) Do you prefer to have at least one or two POC in your love interests?

6) We want to take all our favorite aspects of games like Duskwood, The Healing, Sarah is Missing, and otome/dating sims like lovelink, mechat, mystic messenger and blooming panic and mash them together. What mechanics are important to you?

7) Would you prefer a developer ask for money outright OR include mechanics that would have you pay money for extra/premium content?

8) Do you hate minigames as a feature?

9) If you don't mind the minigames, would you prefer they made more sense or just be mind numbing? (Example: Duskwood has you "hack" using a candy crush style game. Would you prefer that, or something more like Mario Party where you use your phone or PC to complete tasks relevant to that moment in the game or that task? For example: hacking would be more internal. Typing a series of numbers or letters quickly. Moving wires around to make a pattern on a phone to disable lighting to break in for clues. Rewiring something for a camera)

10) we are still looking for someone with coding experience and voice actors (primarily male but females with the ability to drop their voice would be a-okay as well!) We will need testers. And some other things. If you'd like to help. Let me know what you could help with.

We want to make a game you love.

This would be more of a Duskwood/Mystic Messenger cross-over style game. I want to focus MORE on the story that MM, and MORE on romance options than Duskwood. If that makes sense. With better mechanics. Take what we love, and get rid of what we hate. That's the point of this survey. MOST people seem to think the same way about things, but it's nice to get a more... varied pole.

Also, while I intend on self-funding the project, if we need to bridge any sort of gap, would you consider donating to something for this project? It would be a sort of... last resort deal.

Episode 10 Thoughts

Things I'm thinking about after finishing Episode 10 and restarting the game.

So... Spoilers Ahead!

Starting with Episode 10:

Richy swore he didn't tamper with Dan's car. But were Dan's brakes actually messed with and Richy lied about it, or were there nothing wrong with Dan's brakes and he actually did have too much to drink that night? When we talk about it with Richy early on, we're given the option to say we actually believed Dan was telling the truth. If that was the case, what exactly happened with Dan's car?

Was Hannah sending our number to Thomas purely a coincidence? A wrong number situation? Do we actually know her? Did Richy have Hannah's phone the whole time and sent the message instead? But if that was the case, how do we know him? The whole number thing is one of the only things that truly bothers me after the end of the episode because it's something I've always wondered about.

Did Dan actually have a reason to not trust Jake or was that because he always thought he had something to do with Hannah? He seemed adamant from the beginning that we didn't trust Jake, but I wonder if he'd have the same opinion after the discovery of the MWAF. It could have been his way of protecting us. Same with Alan. When Alan said he hoped we knew about Jake. Will this be explored more in the next game? Is this a thing?

Jake being in the mine. Don't get me wrong. That was absolutely one of my favorite parts of the episode. However. While my brain says he got out, I do wonder how exactly. If they had placed men at every exit of the mine, his escape would be hard. Also, Jake did tell us the mine had been in danger of collapsing for years. When Richy set himself on fire, are we supposed to assume that Jake was out / far enough away from Richy by that time? Maybe Richy caused a distraction and Jake was able to escape. And who tells Jake about Richy? Do we tell him when he gets in contact again? How long do we assume it is before we can go to Duskwood and meet him?

What was the story with the Dare House? Was that just a distraction that Richy used to take us away from the fact that he was going to go back to his garage and see that "someone" had marked him? Is that where he hid out after everyone assumed he was dead? Was it just a story he wanted to tell us while he pretended to be our friend?

Also: something I don't understand about Richy. Or that doesn't add up with the whole 'wanting to get them to confess' story. If that was his whole plan, and he kidnapped Hannah because she found out who he was, what was the point of attacking Jessy and going into the house they were staying at? We found out from the letter at the end that Richy had not killed Amy, but drove her to kill herself instead, so we know he didn't really kill anyone. But would he have? Was that his intention going into the house before Dan shot him?

Also, why did he want us to meet him at the Grimrock waterfall? Was his plan to free Hannah and take us instead? Would he have revealed himself to us before he took us captive? Talked it out like he did over the phone? He obviously wasn't interested in hiding it at the end as he told Jessy. I know that wasn't his plan before he was shot, but the whole "meet me in Duskwood" plan just seemed like a bad idea.

At the end, during the cinematic, we see Hannah sitting there before her eyes widen at something and she looks like she's about to stand up. What or who are we supposed to assume she saw? Jake escaping from the mine. We know she knows what he looks like because they were on a video call when Richy kidnapped her. Maybe Thomas on his way to see her? Is that something they'll talk about in the next game?

Also, what do we assume the next episode will be about or who will be in it? Everbyte said it will be set in the same universe, so are we supposed to assume we're still with Jake? I certainly hope so. And if he is somehow in it, I wonder how big his role is in the next game. If the other members of the group are in it. They said we would be introduced to new characters, but that doesn't necessarily mean the characters from this game won't be in it at all, even if only in passing. Maybe we'll finally get to talk to Hannah. Maybe we'll find out if we did really know her.

Also, does Phil ever get out of jail?!?!

Either way, I am very excited for the next project Everbyte is working on for us. And while we wait, I'll play Duskwood again and probably come up with more questions I have. :)

So since episode 10 of duskwood is coming close like REALLY close i thought to share some theories/thoughts i have so- im just saying things that comes to mind really-

!SPOILERS! (kinda- only if you haven't got to ep9 yet lol)

RICHY BEING ALIVE (probably gon fucking happen anyway)

Richy being behind all this- (MIND YOU- his death was sus ASF so im just thinking and i replayed the game like 8 times so i paid attention to everyone's behavior)

Jake and/or Jessy confess their love to us ( see im still pissed off whatever gender you play you get different outcomes but i digress)

Hannah's fucking dead and been dead for awhile now ( like some ghost shit- but its certain that aint true)

Jake cussing out Phil ( i just want the interaction so much ong jakes feelings for Phil don't change when your either the male mc or female mc and it's hilarious)

We get to talk to darkness again! (i miss my buddy so much)

Dan using the gun (i hope and i PRAY some one shoot somebody- hopefully not some one we care for)

some one else dies- (ion know the way episode 9 ended kinda sus...)

Thomas actually being useful ( do i have to explain)

We get to talk to that officer chief (i forgot his name but yea)

Hannah AND Richy being in the dare house (its fuckin obvious as soon as richy came back from the DARE HOUSE he gets marked like????)

This episode being longer and full of more DRAMA (yes i need more tea)

Hopefully theres a happy ending...

We get a letter back from the ted guy

We get to free text again ( i wanna cuss people out more)

We get face to face with Michael Hanson (more like phone to phone but yea know)

Michael finna do some extra shit i just know (i finna be pissed tf off i JUST KNOW)

Jake opening up to us (i want my boy to relax and open himself UP i wanna CRY damnit.)

Hannah thanking us at the end or hell SOME ONE BETTER BE THANKING US.

We get to see hannah and jake reunion i just know its finna be cute ( i kinda care about thomas and hers reunion or hers or lilys but mostly jake and hers)

We get to stay friends (ofc we gonna stay friends wtf did i write this-)

Jake revealing himself (which is probably gonna happen)

Jake's POV

It's been 2 weeks since Hannah was missing. So many things happen in Duskwood. Isabella finds out that the kidnapper was following a legend called ' Man without Face'. At first, I thought it was just a waste of time. That's why I let Bella and her friends do that work. But when Jessica got attacked by that kidnapper then we find out that he was wearing a jute mask that was written in that book. I found Hannah's call record.

Also, Dan had an accident. According to him, the kidnapper had done something to his breaks but we all know that he was drunk. Cleo's mother also got some photos of Cleo and a warning letter. After that Lilly uploaded a video. In that, she accuses me and Bella that we kidnap Hannah. I can see that Isabella is so angry and upset with Lilly. I tell Lilly to remove that video and I will give her the proof that we are innocent.

After that Lilly and Bella solve the riddle together and in the end, they find out that Hannah and Lilly are my step sisters. After this, they become good friends. And I am glad about it.

As for me and Bella, we became good friends. I don't know if a friend is an appropriate word to define our relationship. I know I like Bella. I mean how can I not she is so smart, polite, funny. You know when I am telling her that I am wanted I was so scared that she was gonna be frightened and wanted me to leave her life.

But nothing happens. She says we will talk about it later. First, my safety is important to her. I was so happy that she cared about me.

Nymos doing his work properly my pursuer tried to hack Bella's phone but nymos stopped them. She said was so scared. It makes me feel so guilty because of me they are trying to chase her. Because somehow they know that I cared about her. Now that my pursuers don't know about my location I can again read what is happening in the group.

As I hack Bella's phone to read the message. I found something that I didn't expect. I saw Bella and a guy whose name is Phil take an hour.

"What the hell do they talk about so long? Calm down Jake, they must be talking about some work" I tell myself and then I notice that the third number in the call record belongs to that Phil. I sign and rub my face with my palm. I know I promised that I am not gonna read her private chat but I am too curious to know what they talk about. After a few minutes of battling with myself, I decided to read their conversation.

Isabella:- Hello Phil. When you are free, message me.

Isabella offline

Phil online

Phil:- Hello Isabella. I am surprised you message me.

Isabella:- how do you know? It's me.

Phil:- cause you are quite popular in duskwood. I saved your number.

Isabella:- So Phil I want to ask you some questions.

Phil:- No, Hannah is not in my basement :)

Isabella:- I know Phil I want to ask some other questions if you don't mind.

Phil:- ask whatever you want

Isabella:- Ok so…

So she asks Phil many questions. And I don't like the way he talks about Hannah. How can he ever think Hannah wants him that way? As I read the chat further.

Seriously, Why is he flirting with her? " You are a womaniser, you have a penalty of woman. Stop flirting with her. She is just mine. "

"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU JAKE SHE IS NOT YOURS" I yell but not too loud. I lean on my chair and try to relax my body." Don't worry Jake she is not yours yet but in future, she will" I whispered to myself the thought itself is enough to make me smile.

As I read the chat more. My blood instantly boils. "How dare he ask her to come to Duskwood even though he knows how much Duskwood is dangerous for her" I know at the end of this chat I am gonna die from blood pressure.

I have to make sure she doesn't go to duskwood.

I have been kept away from normal or rather kind human beings for a long timespan of my life, therefore I am trying to deal with that and those powers that could make it much easier.

Question

Duskwood fans and writers, should I start up a letter game? Basically, I would have my Duskwood character write letters and post them here, and then other people or other characters could either respond with asks or their own letters. Basically an askblog, but with a different format. It would probably have spoilers for all the episodes so far.

I’ve got a first letter drafted already, albeit one with a sort of odd premise, but I’d hate to post it and have it go nowhere because no one’s interested.

*Clover stands like frozen for a very long time. Eventually, she makes her way to Flower's corpse slowly.*

*She looks at Flower's corpse silently for a very long time, silent tears dripping down her face like cascades. The guilt and regret is unbearing, and yet Clover can't make herself look away. This has now been taken from me. Now I am captured. Grey walls that seem to be suffocate me have been the only thing I see for 23 hours a day. But the very moment you were led through the door, my lonely world lit up for a moment as brightly as never before.

Everything around you looked like black and white painted but around you life shone. Looking into your eyes made me feel more hopeful than ever.

The moment you took my hand, I felt our hearts colliding again and again.

I had no idea I would ever experience such a deep feeling of happiness again, and I want to express my gratitude to you for it. Thank you with everything I have, even if this is not much at the moment.

I'm composing these words here because I couldn't express myself to you face-to-face. I'm uncertain as to why. I was lacking in confidence. Despite that, I still have a strong resistance to drag you into my dark world. But I know that you decide for yourself and I don’t have the right to decide about your life.

At least now you always know where I am, as it looks like I won’t be able to leave this place anytime soon.

But before I digress again – what I desired to tell you is that I love you. I love you more than anything in the world. I love you more than I’ve ever loved anyone.

And I want you to know that. I want you to know that thanks to you, I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get out of prison.

I’m at your mercy, MC. Until the end of my miserable life, which thanks to you is not nearly as miserable as it used to be.

Please, take care of yourself out there, be careful. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do. ;) On top, it would be greatly appreciated if you could convey to Hannah and Lilly that I miss them and that I love them too.
