any ideas on how to get more confident in your art or just things you make in general? I struggle a lot with my thoughts and always talk myself out of trying to get better at art because of stuff so was just curious if you had any thoughts on the subject? thanks !

HI HELLO! I'm always up for hyping up fellow artists!

So, I used to struggle a lot with being confident in my art to the point where I solely relied on other people's opinions of my art to validate my self-esteem. It really sucked and dampened my enjoyment of drawing quite a bit. But one thing that helped shift my focus that I eventually realized was this:

I wasn't letting myself be proud of my own work.

It is not self-aggrandizing or wrong to simply be happy about something you have created, to look at it and go "Y'know what? I really like the way I drew that nose. And those flowers look AMAZING, actually." It's perfectly normal and healthy to hype yourself up and in fact, I encourage it! Be your own hype-man! Look at an old drawing you made and instead of only focusing on what you think looks bad, just focus on what you think you did well! Give your art three compliments today, I promise you it will make you feel better about your art skills.

Of course, that's not to say you can't critique your own work, or that you should blind yourself to what you can improve on. But you are your own worst critic, and often times people fail to remember that proper critiques and constructive criticism include mentioning things you enjoyed about the work alongside the potential improvements.

Bullying yourself or beating yourself up is not constructive, it is destructive. And thoughts that don't have your best interests in mind are not thoughts worth listening to.

And another thing, you need to accept yourself where you are. You cannot do better than your best and that is ok. With time and study and practice, you will improve. But if you don't let yourself draw in the first place, then how are you going to get better? Like a very helpful person once said: "bad art is good art because you made art."

And one final note: Art as a general, overarching concept is not something to "get right," it is not something with cut and dry rules that must be followed to the letter of the law. It's a form of expression. It is a product of passion that is tailored to the individual. And it is beautiful. When you let yourself pour your heart and soul into a piece and share it with the world, people will see that; even with any technical mistakes that you may have made, what people are going to notice and latch onto first is the love you have for art and the passion you carry for the craft that shines through what you make. So when you love what you do, other people will too :)

Like my mom always tells me: seek to express, not to impress.

I hope this advice helped ya out my dude and I want you to know that I'm rootin' for ya in your artistic journey! Art can be tough and really frustrating at times and I'm proud of ya for makin' it this far and seeking ways to improve!

Hi babe, just read what u published about getting hate on Clora from your latest chapter.

I just wanted to say that there’ll always be people that will throw HATE - on your oc - story- decisions u make for your fanfic-story-character. The important thing here is to know where you stand, what u like, how u want your characters-story to be headed. I knoooow for a fact that is jealousy, towards you, your creativity, your imagination, and they just wanna be “cool”.

I’ve followed u for a time now ( and sorry I’ve always wanted to message you saying how awesome u are 🥲 but didn’t have the courage to do so… but this drew the line! ) and how you manage to portray the feelings, story and the character’s personalities is truly unique. U👏KEEP👏DOING👏THAT👏.

In my country we say “take the things from who says them” ( poor translation sorry ) it basically means take the comments and opinions from the people who know about the topic, from people that are important to you, from people you admire, etc. Not from those kind of people who CLEARLY have NO CLUE about the HP plot 😅 which like u said, it revolves about sacrifice and love, or just for the art of hating an -awesome- OC. Like, c’on we’re too old for this hating on one and other 😒.

I know it’s upsetting. BUT: Keep on shining. Keep on giving Clora her vibrant and wonderful personality that u both share. Keep working hard. Keep creating.

and he cares about you like crazy

so that’s why most of the times when you argue it has something to do with your wellbeing––if you’re overworking yourself or not taking care of yourself

he worries tbh

and he can get v passionate in a sense

meaning he won’t let you just brush it aside, he’ll wanna talk about whatever it is and he can get frustrated if you won’t cooperate

he just wants you to be happy, healthy and safe!!

so let’s say it’s been several days that you hadn’t been sleeping like at all

for whatever reason

and it doesn’t seem like you plan on changing that any time soon

iwa would confront you about it,, gently

but the more you try to push it aside, the more frustrated he gets 

and when he get frustrated,, he yells 

his eyes widened as you flinched at the sound of his voice that was almost echoing off the walls of your living room. he froze, swallowing harshly as he watched you. “i––i’m sorry i...i shouldn’t have yelled.”

you looked down and wrapped your arms around yourself, a bit uncomfortable with the energy in the room. to be honest you felt bad and a little embarrassed that it had gotten this far, that your actions were affecting him so much. you didn’t like worrying him, it’s just that sometimes you lost track of time or valued other things more than sleep, or even your wellbeing in some cases. 

“yeah...” you mumbled, still not looking up. “but you’re right, i––i should take better care of myself.” you sighed, blinking a few times when you took notice of how heavy your eyes were, how it almost pained you to keep them open. “i didn’t mean to worry you. i’m sorry.”

he sighed softly, stepping closer to you. “can i?–” you nodded and he closed the space between you, wrapping his arms around you, leaning his head on yours. “i just want what’s best for you, sweetheart.” he kissed your temple and squeezed you tighter. “can you please come to bed with me?”

you nodded and he let out a breath of relief. “thank you. let’s go get some rest, okay?” 

suna:

suna is known for his lazy glare and his deadpan personality 

but you tended to be the exception to those things

he was kinda rly soft with you, putting you in his lap no matter who was around and not letting you get up bc he wanted to cuddle

he’d just glare at or ignore any comments people had to make 

but he had to make somewhat of an effort to stop himself from reacting the way he normally would sometimes, when he was with you

like the glaring, the silence, the snarky comments, the half-assing whatever he had to do

it’s not that he was mean,, he was just used to doing those things 

and he tried his best to keep them at bay when he was around you

cause he really did like you, even if he didn’t say it a lot

i feel like one day he’d just be in a bad mood

not really wanting to talk

and since he doesn’t tell you, you try to carry a conversation and ask him what’s up which only annoys him further

and he says something kinda rude, paired w an icy glare that makes you stop in your tracks and flinch

suna knew as soon as he spoke, he shouldn’t have said that. he didn’t mean to be rude to you, he just wasn’t in the mood. and he regretted the way he spoke as soon as he saw your reaction. of course to you, it didn’t seem like he cared since his face didn’t change in the slightest, but that wasn’t the case. 

he narrowed his eyes, now annoyed at himself and sighed, closing his eyes for a second before looking at you and taking a deep breath. “look i––i’m sorry.”

you scoffed at the insincere look on his face and moved to get up, done with this “conversation”. “yeah, right.” but before you could get far, a hand pulled you down and suddenly you were in suna’s lap. “hey–”

he brought a hand to cup your cheek and pressed his lips to yours without a second thought, which you embarrassingly welcomed immediately, sighing into the kiss, making him smirk. he slid his hand down to grasp your neck and pulled away after teasingly biting your lip. 

you brought your hand up to hold his wrist and slowly opened your eyes. you pouted but he was quick to swipe it away with his thumb. “i’m mad at you,” you mumbled. 

but he just raised a brow, “no you’re not.” you sighed and looked down, knowing he was right. no matter how annoying he was, you could never stay mad at him, at the end of the day, you knew he cared about you and would do anything for you. 

but you glanced back up at him when he went on, “but you should be.” you looked at him curiously as he looked around the room, moving his hands to hold your waist. “i shouldn’t have said that to you... i don’t deserve you, honestly.” you were about to argue when he looked into your eyes and you decided you’d let him talk. he rarely did, after all. 

“i’m a dick. i’m sorry.” 

you laughed at his blunt conclusion but smiled nonetheless, appreciating his efforts. you placed your hands on his cheeks and passed your thumbs over the faint blush coating his skin. “you are a dick, yeah.” you gave him a quick peck. “but you’re my dick.” 

“sweet.” he rolled his eyes and put his tongue in his cheek to stop the smile that was threatening to break free. “yeah, i’m yours.” he kissed you again and smirked. “and you’re mine.” 

you looked at him sternly, “but i won’t be if you don’t communicate with me, okay? that’s how a relationship works.” 

he nodded, “deal.” he licked his lips slowly as his eyes traced over your features, “you know i like it when you put me in my place––”

you rolled your eyes playfully. “shut up.”

he raised his brows, “how about you make me?”

he definitely got what he asked for.

god i love tcw, genuinely, but they really have those eps sometimes where its like ‘why the fuck should i care abt anything that’s happening here’ 

like...okay genuinely i love the show but there’s rly some stinker eps and i think a lot of the time its bc its a plot that has no relevance, and is focusing on characters that we dont give a shit about, like the droid arc??? no offense but who cares lmao, like r2 is great but like....in small doses, or WITH humans, not other droids we've just met??? like if we got that arc filoni had intended at some point, the one with rex and r2, like?? that’d probably WORK bc rex is one of the literal main characters, and seeing him interact with a side character we dont usually see him interact with is INTERESTING (esp since like...lbr whilst rex is in a lotta eps he doesnt get the same amount of focus that the jedi mc do lmao)

its like the ep where they get the replacement for r2 is fun, bc its shenanigans with ahsoka, anakin and rex, and its fun!! 

its just.... i think as well a lot of those stinker eps could be solved with just..a little more genuine character interaction....like characters actually TALKING abt stuff othe rthan the mission, like i GET its a war i get its literally the clone WARS i get it, but like...for example. besides having kit fisto swimming around half naked for 3 eps, the mon cala arc adds nothing substantial to the show at all (even though i think the prince is sweet)

like god okay anakin and ahsoka are both in that arc, why dont they talk more??? their lil padawan/master bickering would have given the arc a bit more gotdamn life, or idk, have padme and ahsoka having a convo!! 

nd i think like....okay they have goofy eps every now and again to offset the violence (tho still present in said eps) but i dont...enjoy most of them, bc they focus them on characters we dont rly...care about, like jar jar lmao and uhhh...again, r2 and c3p0 like i get it, they’re iconic characters, but they’re also not rly that engaging to follow around for like an entire 45 mins of screentime lmao

just....all they need is small bits here and there (i can deal with “landing at point rain” bc of the competitiveness between ahsoka and anakin when it comes to their droids killed count, throwing rex off the wall, all that!) just small bits to SHOW the idk...MAIN CHARACTERS interacting, and BLEASE figure out which characters of urs people actually like in tcw, like its not some random 4 droids and some annoying tiny frog man, its anakin, obi wan ahsoka, rex, a LOT of the clones we’ve seen (waxer fives echo, hardcase, hevy, 99, etc) maul, savage, hondo, satine, padme, ventress!

nd like...thats not even me being biased, clone centered eps/arcs are some of the most popular ones!!!! they’re fan favourites for a reason, bc clones are sympathetic and interesting characters, because of how different each one is!! bc their eps tend to be more character centric!!

like just!!! we need eps with characters we care about interacting with characters we care about more,  more of anakin and obi wan sassing each othe,r bc thats something that does get lost, (spekaing of characters we like interacting with others we like, its at least part of the reason why i actually like the zyggerian arc like...it LITERALLY has all 4 of the main characters in the arc together we needed so much MORE of stuff like that!) we need to see these characters being goofs together, or even somber moments, just!!! aaaaaa i just.....sometimes....i do think tcw’s huge cast of characters is a bad thing, it leaves characters stretched thin, like stop focusing on/introducing tons of new characters, instead, see which characters people like and WORK with that, FOCUS on the ones people love, make THEM interact, i get they couldnt have known which characters would actually become well loved but they also had 5 years to adjust accordling lmao, like!!

there’s some interesting pairs we could have seen interact but never do!!! we dont see anakin or ahsoka like...interact with most of torrent company, despite the fact that as the LEADERS of said company, they would have worked with them like through MOST of the battles during the war??? you’re telling me empathetic ‘clones are people too’ padme amidala wouldnt have got along EXCELLENTLY with fives, the clone with the strongest sense of self and individualism??? (i can see them talking passionately about clone rights in my head as we SPEAK)  you telling me padme never interacted with any of the people under her HUSBANDS command?? bullshit

like...it doesnt evne have to include clones, i actually really enjoyed that ep where padme and satine uncover corruption (i know fans arent a huge fan of that one), and ones with barriss and ahsoka because like!! these are characters we care about, ones we dont see interact all that often, and its fun! 

like. again, i’ll stress i do love this show, there’s a lotta genuinely good eps, INCREDIBLE EPS eps that are nice and fun or heartbreakingly dark and sad, very interesting, either way the’re all engaging and make me feel!!! (anything with domino squad members, innocents of ryloth, mortis arc, umbara arc, anything with hondo anything with maul and savage, mandolre stuff) but its not perfect by any means and i wish they changed those gotdamn unnecessary eps like the droid arc, anything with jar jar, uhh,,,the onderan arc honestly (first ep was good), the mon cala one nd just....put in more characters we cared abt at leas,t or made them interact or just!! something!!!!

just....i think tcw would have been perfect if they tightened the cast a bit, and added just a lil more interaction between the main characters just..sacrifice a little plot driven strytellnig for character driven storytelling, just a LITTLE
