My school didn't teach anything about alternative attractions. My friends called me immature because I always had an aversion to the topic of sex and I went with it.

I turned 19 when I had my first bf and thought it was Christian morals that I got nervous sleeping in the same bed or tent. Until my friend just dropped very casually "maybe you are asexual" (explained it) and I was like "nah I think it's simply too soon I feel quite normal" as if I know how it sould feel hahaha.

But after a while I noticed it makes sense. I didn't tell my bf, I think he grew tired of me and dropped me anyway. But the last week we were togetherI noticed I thought "I think I could feel alright doing it with him someday..." So I dropped the Ace label sometimes, like I wasn't sure I deserve it even tho I literally once said "I am ok with never having sex in my life ever, but I desperately need hugs"

Then I had a conversation about relationships with a stranger teen when I was 22 and I explained to her I had my peculiar feelings. And she simply said "That's demisexual" And I chatshouted at her "WHAT IT HAS A NAME????" I didn't need a label, but DOG DID I FEEL RELIEVED! It's like finding the last edgepieces of a puzzle.

Still say I am ace because don't wanna confuse the unknowing with a "weird new sexuality".

Bonus: Being ace made it hard for me to determine my attractions, I thought my romantic feelings toward girls were mere friend crushes until 2 years ago I found my heart beating uncomfortably fast and had the usual butterflies in the stomach when that gorgeous barista smiled at me and told me I look pretty that day.

So. Yeah. What a rollercoaster haha. Legit thought I was simply straight until the last few years because I didn't even know of the other things
