11. Do you write scenes in order, or do you jump around?

When I first started writing fic, I wrote in chronological order. And of course if the story lends itself to being short, I still write that way. But now as I develop more multi chapters, or even write more vignette style fics, I jump around, even fiddling with the organization of the story, so sometimes, something I wrote that was intended for the end, might switch to the beginning. 

13. Do you listen to music while you write?  If yes, what have you been listening to recently?

I am one of those writers that when I am in the “word dumping” phase as they call it, I do listen to music. When I’m editing, I don’t because I need concentration in that moment to hone on the story and cut or flesh out the story depending on the need.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Hmm. Maybe Singles Club? I don't know if I'd say it's that angsty, but in comparison to others...? Or maybe To Say Goodbye because it's sort of a sad ending. I'm overthinking this lol, but I feel like I focus more on making an ending realistic which can result in a combination of things.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

This is hard to pick too, and although I never actually wrote a third part, I guess I'd say Kinda Like Us. You can't get much happier than a wedding, right?

Yep, there's two(?) fics hiding out on a sideblog that I wrote with my friend many years ago. It's sorta hilarious to go back and read them now but at least we had fun writing them.

What’s your all time favorite ship?

I definitely have more than one buttttt I'll go with nace. It's my current top ship.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

Kinda Like Us. It would be one more chapter to write a different version of the conversation with Kevin and Rebecca where he decides to build the future house. But for right now the chapter 2 ending might just be it and the good thing is it works fine as an ending.

What are your writing strengths?

Ummm. Maybe style? I don't know if I'd necessarily call it simple but I like to keep it clear / easy to read.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Not being able to get myself to actually write fhaksja. Or maybe moving characters from place to place just because I don't like writing that so it can come off as choppy to me.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I never have.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Agent Carter. Shout-out to the 400 words still out there on a deactivated blog. I'll never forget you.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

I'm tempted to say At the Bluffs because I'm so surprised I wrote that much and finished it lol. But I think The Things That Tie Me to You has to be my favorite. It gives the depth to Frances and Madison's relationship that canon hasn't (yet, I say hopefully), is Madison centric, and gives Kevison the type of progression I'll forever be mad the show didn't. Plus for a long time it was THE longest piece of writing I'd ever completed so it'll forever be special for that reason.

Well, guys, long time no see.

If you haven't seen any of the writing updates on my blog, that's because, for about two months, I had been dealing with a particularly nasty case of Writer's Block. The good news is that I'm over it now! I finally finished the scene that was giving me so much trouble and was, in fact, able to complete the second draft of Chapter Five and start Chapter Six. I don't think these following three chapters will take quite as long (fingers crossed), and then once I get to the third draft of each chapter, I'll be able to do more final edits and get them ready to post. I'm so excited to get these out!

With that being said, there's a playlist that will go with Chapter 6, and while I have a shortlist of the songs that I mention by name in the chapter, I'd like to have a few more to round it out. So, if you'd like to send some suggestions for songs to play at a wedding reception to my inbox, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Without a moment's hesitation, she booked it to the restrooms at the end of the carpeted hallway, fleeing to the sanctuary behind the black-paneled door.

She breathed a sigh of relief as the door slammed shut behind her. 

Laying her clutch on the counter, she turned the handle on the black matte faucet. Cold water spewed from the spout, flooding the ivory basin. Rosaline let it run for a few seconds, listening to the gush of water as it hit the sink before she collected it in her hands. When she splashed her face, the water trickled between her fingers. It dribbled down her cheek like melting ice, dripping off her chin in fat droplets back into the basin.

Thank goodness for waterproof makeup.

Hello again.

I'm so terrible at keeping you guys updated on my progress. I swear I've been writing even though it's been a month since you last heard from me.

In the intervening time, I've had time to revise the first three sections of Chapter Six, which means I have two sections left before I can move onto Chapter Seven. Unfortunately, one of those is a monster, clocking in at over 4,000 words, so I better get cracking. I'm trying to get more writing done this month than I was getting done in the last few months so that should help a bit. I will try to be better about posting WIP Wednesdays as well.

As a reward for your patience, please have the next snippet of Chapter Five:

Rosaline ducked into the bathroom. “Unzip me?”

Benvolio swallowed audibly. “Sure.”

Rosaline lifted her hair. Benvolio hesitated before placing his cold hands on her back. His breath warmed her neck as he inched the zipper down until it rested at her waist. When his fingers ghosted over the black lace band of her underwear, she shivered. He stepped back as if he'd been burned.

“Thanks.” Rosaline spun around, clasping the dress to her chest and gripping her silk nightgown with the other hand.

In general, I don’t talk about movies online right after they’ve come out of respect for people who haven’t seen them but I have to say one of the funniest things about this last week is finding out which of the blogs I follow have seen Eternals by the sudden influx of Drukkari posts on my dash.

1. El ambient no es un género, es una sensibilidad. Hay una historia oficial del ambient que nace con Pierre Schaeffer y Brian Eno. Pero el ambient como sensibilidad merece una historialización alternativa que podría empezar en Erik Satie, seguir los pasos de la Muzak, y chocarse un poco con el jazz. En una apuesta mayor, la historia del ambient como sensibilidad también tendría que ser interdisciplinaria, mezclarse con la poesía, la narrativa y el cine.

2. En la autobiografía que Miles Davis escribió con Quincy Trope, muchos personajes aparecen en la vida de Miles pero muy pocos quedan. Todos los que pasaron por la banda que Miles armó para sus tours tienen una mención, también los productores y sesionistas que trabajaron en sus discos. Pero los músicos que Miles describe como fundamentales para su carrera se cuentan con los dedos de una mano, como John Coltrane, Gil Evans, Tony Williams y Bill Evans. Miles conoce a Bill en un momento clave de su vida en el que estaba listo para hacer su primer transición radical. Su primer colaboración está en el disco 1958 Miles, del que rescato “Love for Sale” por el final emotivo del solo de Miles. Y Bill usa esta composición original como un sample. O como un edit en el que agarrás la parte que más te gusta de una canción y la alargás para que dure minutos y se vuelva una canción propia.

4. Hay un término en inglés, “palate cleanser”, para describir algo que sirve para “limpiar” el sabor de lo que vino antes y poder encarar lo que viene desde una posición más neutral. Existen varias canciones que pueden servir para esto. Lo ideal es escucharlas justo antes de ir a la cama, para dar un cierre general al día y meterse entre las sábanas limpio de pensamientos. “Peace Piece” encabeza esta playlist, como un soundtrack para sentarse después de haber lavado los platos, mirar las plantas de interior, tomarse un último trago de agua.
