Eevee and Umpreon have THE cutest interactions in the background of Dollightful's Eevee videos. The big brother-little sister energy is off the charts. Thank you Vasira for making this come to life!! You were a joy to work with!

I found this 3Ds in the board game section of a Value Village in a box with Pokemon Sun in box, Pokemon Moon in the cartridge slot, a pikachu figure and a toy z-ring, all for $6 CAD ( I 100% believe whoever priced it and put it there just couldn’t be bothered to look in the box because holy shit lmao). Genuinely it is my best thrift store find ever. Anyways I immediately got to modding it, which I had always wanted to do but was too scared I would brick my childhood 3DS, and made plans to paint it since it didn’t quite feel like mine being red. Well, it took a while, but I finally got around to painting it after starting summer break, so here it is! 🎀

Had this sitting mostly finished in my drafts for 2 years, I needed to rework the original design and I'm actually quite happy with this even if it might still be a little too complex.

Strideon: The Calling Pokemon

(Stridulation: The act some insects perform of rubbing a body part together to make sound)

Info + original design:

Strideon are capable of producing 2 unique sounds. One is enchanting and melodic, this one is made by rubbing their ears together. The other sound is quite the opposite, it is harsh and off-putting, it is made by rubbing their legs together.

The sound made from their ears is used to attract either prey or friends. Meanwhile, the sound made from their legs is the opposite, being a warning sound or used to ward off danger.

The fur on their legs is coarse, stiff, and with fine ridges that are hard to see with the naked eye, these qualities allow it to make the sound at all. In a similar way, their ears are far softer, coated with fine scales, yet the texture of their ears is oddly similar to that of a bug's wings. To rub them together would make quite the sound.

Some say the dark splotch on the back of Strideon looks a bit like a pair of wings.
