Haha holy shit. So, you guys know there's been some theorizing about how there's some weird time shit going on, and the time of 8:15 pm keeps potentially popping up as when weird shit happens to Will involving the Upside Down. Which made me "jokingly" say I was gonna go through and screenshot every episode at the 8 minute 15 second mark.

Well...since I was already messing around in episode one and looking around at other stuff, I decided to see what was at 8 mins 15 secs and...well...

How about the very vanishing of Will Byers himself.

OH THERE IS SMTHN VERY VERY FUNKY GOING ON WITH THE TIME ON HALLOWEEN NIGHT IN S2. SERIOUSLY SOMETHING IS UP HERE, WILL MAY VERY WELL HAVE SOME TIME POWERS. SERIOUSLY PLS READ THIS BC SOMETHING IS UP

a.) WHY is there a soundtrack track called “eight fifteen” for s2 and WHEN does it play and WHY is it the last song on the official stranger things playlist

b.) WHY, when Will is recording mike right before their argument does it show 8:04 on the camera (from Will’s pov) but when joyce watches that SAME scene back, it says 8:15?

But wait- couldn’t joyce just be watching different footage that happens at 8:15 with mike and not the footage that will recorded at 8:04 pm? NOPE!! THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE AT ALL AND IM GOING TO EXPLAIN WHY  Regarding b.), there’s no way that it could be both 8:04 and 8:15. Because here’s the thing- when we see the scene from Will’s pov, mike is talking into the camera and asking about max, and the time says 8:04. And then will STOPS RECORDING MIKE/puts the camera down, and the camera does NOT focus on mike again before mike stomps away. This means that there is no way that the recording that joyce sees of mike happened at 8:15 pm. It’s not possible. Because will STOPPED recording mike a 8:04 and does NOT even lift the camera back up before mike stomps away. It is 100% impossible that any video of mike talking at the camera was filmed at 8:15 pm, at least based on what we see in that scene + the time in the scammers in that scene.

So why the hell does it say 8:15 pm during that scene when joyce rewatches it? Why is there an 11 minute difference? And I’d say it was just coincidence/a mess up with the times if it wasn’t for the fact that there’s literally a soundtrack song for s2 CALLED 8:15. And the fact that they CHOSE to show us the camcorder footage WITH the time both from Will’s pov vs from Joyce watching the tape back.

And according to the scene where Joyce watches the footage, Will is yelling for mike at 8:17 pm. Meaning according to the footage that joyce watches, he was in the upside-down at 8:17 pm. But according to the time on Will’s camera at the time, with it being 11 minutes behind the footage that joyce watches, it would have actually been 8:06 pm.

So what the hell happened to cause bob’s camera to have an 11 minute time jump?? Like not just record for an extra 11 minutes but for the timestamp to actually change in retrospect?? There’s GOTTA be something here

This is practically anti byler theory, but nvm

So, Dimitri has a son named Mikhail, which is russian version of name Michael, Mike

So, people were just saying that instead of Mike, Will will end up with Mikhail(who’s technically Mike bc of the name, yk)

I think everyone was just joking, oh, good ol’ times

Lettergate/Pocketgate

These theories aren’t the same one, but it’s basically the same concept, ig

The basic thing is, that Mike wrote a letter to Will(singed Love, Mike)

In pocketgate, Mike has the letter saved in his triangle pocket, bc in st, characters many times has letters, that were important to them, in their left pocket(above the heart), for example Hopper and El(Hopper’s heart-to-heart), Jonathan(acceptance letter to college) etc.

And he would just take it out in the middle of confession or sth

+the triangle always points to Will like an arrow

Lettergate is just basically the same, ok, idk how to describe it differently��

Twelvegate

Not exactly a byler, but theory, that Will was number twelve in HNL, and that he’s El’s actual twin

And from that, there’s theory that Will has powers, but wasn’t n. 012

Flickergate

This theory is very lovely! after Will tells Mike that rolled seven in s1, the light behind them flickers

and since ud is frozen on nov6 83, when you signal sth from ud, it should appear at nov6 83-s1

this connects to electricgate(i dunno if sth like this exist, but just keep reading), the electricity~are friends electric~will possibly having electric powers

so mike and will could go together in s5 to ud on a mission or sth, and kiss in wheelers garage, and that would make the light flicker(i’m so good at explaining things, right😐)

will and mike going to ud together is predicted by mike and will sitting on upside down couch in last ep. of s4

Birthdaygate/Memorygate

Soo, remember how they forgot Will’s birthday? what if all wills memories, that people reminded him of in the shed are gone? his birthday, building castle byers, meeting mike… and that’s why mike says that his life started the day he found her, bc he doesn’t remember meeting Will

for me, it’s really weird, they couldn’t just forget Will’s birthday, no, this ain’t it

Kiss at lovers lake

I’m not sure if this has a different name, but it’s that their first kiss will be near lovers lake

evidence: patrick(the kid who died at lovers lake), had a nickname “berlin wall” or sth(we saw this in the school newspaper), and it was devided to four, same as hawkins

and song heroes is abt couple who lived at different sides of berlin wall, and idk, it just connects, okay?

when will painted the map of hawkins while he was possessed, mike was holding blue and yellow meter

Context: will left the wheelers at 8:15 in s1

in s1e1, time mark 8:15 is literally the shot where will disappears in the shead

i think there’s a season 2 soundtrack called eight fifteen

tw: time fuckery: while will was recording on halloween night, the time says 8:04 while he’s recording mike saying “did you agreed with this?”, but when joyce rewatches it, it show 8:15(byler)

Sth like, that when there’s some fight happening between characters, if curtains are open, it means they’re open with their feeling and opposite 

Example: milkvan make out scene-closed, but you don’t love me fight-opened

Bonus: „ but they like the curtain. people like us are just trying to look behind the curtain”(my very bad quotation of murray, yk what i mean)

Also, Suzie had blue and yellow curtains, and they were opened

piggybackgate

El knows abt Mike and Will. she saw how they act around each other, she’ve heard will saying “you’re the heart” to mike, saw that mike has Will’s painting now

New Coke Theory

basically, old coca colla is mileven, new coke is byler. it contains some of the old ingredients(mike), and new ones too(will). not everyone likes(bc its gay ship). and when you look at scenes with can of new coke, it’s many times symbolizing byler vs. milkvan

one of my favorite new coke theory examples is this: in s3, after el gets attacked by the flesh monster, she tries to crash a can(but she doesn’t have her powers, so she can’t). this is a can of new coke(byler) and she can’t crush that/destroy it. and in this scene, we get a flashback to the lab, where she crushes aka destroys regular coke(mileven)

mike and will not calling each other, bc of joyce’s telemarketer job(he won’t stop whining abt it)

I can’t believe it took me this long to see this:

They are in the middle of the game.

They have been playing for 10 hours.

They needed 20 more minutes.

We know now it takes 20 to defeat Vecna. It also would have taken 20 more minutes to change the future.

The ”middle” (meaning half) of 20 is 10. 10 wasn’t enough but two 10s is makes 20 and that is enough.

And we ofc know who those two 10s are…

(If you haven’t seen this before, look at the shoe sizes. Both Mike and Will are a size 10)

It’s just so crazy to me that they actually told us those numbers in the first minutes of the entire show!

Also there is the ”15 after” which tells us something about eightfifteengate…

My favourite thing about the plot gates (birthdaygate, flickergate, eightfifteengate etc) is that if one/any of them are disproved in s5, all those fics will still be immortalised and years from now, a new wave of the fandom will discover byler and open ao3 and be so intrigued but so confused by all the AUs

Super fast post because I can't stay on the phone now to explain better BUT El saying to Hopper "it's 8:15, you're late!" in s2 and Will disappearing at minute 8:15 in s1... what if they go back to that moment and they are late to save Will from being kidnapped by Vecna so that's what starts a possible time loop that begins in s5 and closes in s5 too!

“when the hell are they?”

Currently driving me crazy: we have a show with constant time references, homages to Back to the Future, significant things happening around 8:15 p.m. (like Will’s disappearance), meta-references to 8:15 like Will’s disappearance happening at 00:08:15 in 1x01...

So what do we find at the timestamp that would correspond to 8:15 p.m., if you started the whole series at midnight?  That would be 20 hours, 15 minutes, 0 seconds into the series’ runtime: doing a little math, that’s 3x07 at 00:13:58 (41:52 remaining on the Netflix counter for the episode). 

...which is...

If that’s a coincidence, it’s a hell of a coincidence.

Yeah there's something really weird with the timing in the last few scenes of S2E1. This might be nothing, but it's just strange how they laid these scenes out. I'm gonna start with this scene of Mike trying to contact El.

It says here it's 7:40pm. At the end of this scene, Mike thinks he hears El, but it's actually Lucas and Dustin contacting him on the radio about figuring out who Mad Max is. Mike isn't interested and cuts them off. Lucas and Dustin then part ways, and the very next scene is:

Bob recording Joyce on camera as she makes popcorn for the Byers movie night. And yeah, it says 6:10 before changing quickly to 6:11. That's a little odd considering Mike said it was 7:40 in the previous scene, no?

Now, it might be that the scenes weren't meant to be consecutive timewise. That they showed what was happening with Mike at 7:40 before going an hour and a half earlier back to the Byers house. Sure, that's a possibility, but it's a weird directing choice kind of.

Anyways, we then have the scene with Jonathan and Will in Will's bedroom about 'being a freak is the best', followed by Bob, Joyce, Jonathan, and Will all sitting on the couch and watching Mr. Mom.

Here's where things get weird. Mr. Mom has a run time of 1 hour 31 minutes. As I stated above, Joyce is making the popcorn at 6:10. If we assume the convo with Will/Jonathan, plus allowing everyone to get situated on the couch and ready to watch the movie took a minimum of 10 minutes, they likely started the movie around 6:20, best case. Which would put the end of the movie around 7:50pm. Keep this in mind, because I'm really puzzled about the next scene.

There's a VERY brief scene right after the movie scene above at the lab, showing the sensory equipment going crazy.

And then it cuts RIGHT BACK to the Byers house where it shows us this clock saying it's 8:06ish:

and Will walking through a seemingly empty, yet well-lit Byers house to use the restroom:

Let's remember, the movie didn't end until 7:50. Everyone was there, and Will was fully dressed in his clothes he went to school in. Now it's 8:06, Will is in his pajamas, and EVERYONE is GONE except for him? All that happened in the span of fifteen minutes? Possible? Sure, I guess so. Everyone could've went directly to their bedrooms at 8pm. Or Bob, Joyce, and Jonathan could've all left the house and left Will alone? I don't know.

But this was the direct lead-in to Will's Upside Down experience where the door opened and he saw the Mind Flayer. And it just so happened to be right after some curious time inconsistencies. That just so happened to be right around 8:15.

Alright, so, today I stumbled across an interesting piece of information- the clocks and watches from Hiroshima are stuck at 8:15, the moment that the bomb struck.

Considering all of the constant references to 8:15 and all the posts James has made about radiationgate and Hawkins and nuclear disasters, I have to wonder if 8:15 is going to be significant for the radiation stuff in S5, especially with all of Vecna’s clock imagery and with Eddie talking about his watch being stuck at the moment that Patrick died.

There’s also all of the references to the UD being “frozen in time,” (whether you believe it’s really frozen in time or not, that’s how they refer to it in the show), which is also something that’s often mentioned figuratively with Hiroshima, with the clocks being frozen.

Anyway! Just something to think about!
