Childhood friends or soulmates: a powerful trope

The trope started in 1997 with Harry Potter (Harry - Hermione - Ron)

In 2001 it became Fullmetal Alchemist (Alphonse - Winry - Edward)

In 2007 Chihayafuru (Arata - Chihaya - Taichi)

In 2009 Akatsuki no Yona (Hak - Yona - Soowon)

In 2012 Noragami (Yato - Hiyori - Yukine)

In 2016 Yakusoku no Neverland (Norman - Ray - Emma)

Noragami has remodeled the trope in the most innovative way since between the two male characters there is a father-son relationship and also because the three of them are "different beings" (a god - a human soul and a living human). In manga form It is the only trio that like in the original input source isn't of childhood friends.

Why haven't we met it earlier? Because only recently we started to acknowledge the friendship between boys and girls like something that there has to be in this world but we are still wary about it. Look at a provoking manga like Giorgie and you'll see how this trope was played out melodramatically in the past. So far none of those trios ended up to be only "friends". Nowadays boys and girls are more close then in the past, but now we are tore between the purest of the bonds and the ambiguity of attraction.

Strangely I can't recall any trio made by two girls and a boy. It is still un unexplored trope.

Casting Manga-Only Promised Neverland Characters

I finally finished reading The Promised Neverland manga and now COMPLETELY understand everyone’s anger with Season 2. There was so much wasted potential for an amazing continuation of the anime, and it’s a real shame that we weren’t able to see so many characters get animated. 

So, here’s the real life English voices that I assigned to characters while I was reading (yes, I pretty much cast the characters in my head).

YUGO = Eric Vale
