I started watching dexter and it’s genuinely wild shit. His inner monologue will be like ‘this would be considered a kind action, if I had a heart. But unfortunately, I feel nothing inside. Heard a vague acquaintance joking yesterday that if a podcast creator didn't want anyone to listen to a particular episode, they could just release it on Christmas Day because no one listens to podcasts on Christmas. I could have absolutely blown his mind if I told him about the two-hour Wolf 359 finale released on December 25th.

#Obviously a very Western/Christian-centric perspective from this guy #In his slight defence he was only thinking about non-fiction podcasts #where people are much more likely to skip episodes #and he was discussing his plans to produce potentially the most niche podcast known to man #But anyway I would be fascinated to know how many Christmas-celebrating Wolf 359 fans #absented themselves from celebrations for a couple of hours that year #Ngl I think I had to wait until Boxing Day to listen fully #it was painful #the empty man rambleth

getting just enough of something feels like a kind of faith that i will be able to find more of what i need when the time comes. maybe this is what it means for me most of the time. something about trusting myself in a material way in the face of uncertainty

it feels like a kind of protest against the hoarding impulse at the heart of this system. i am resisting, in the language of the system, the overconsumption that defines and sustains it

but sometimes when i get just enough and no more i know it is a lack of faith in the future itself. an expression of doubt, measured in cups and ounces, that there will be enough time left to use even this amount, never mind bothering to get any more

Cleaning milestone! Started the dishwasher running again. This actually represents the vast majority of my dirty dishes; there's maybe most of a load, some large items, and a handful of hand-wash-only items left.

#it took so long because i was washing the hand-wash-only items as i went #i would be overwhelmed right now if i didnt #also i cant hand wash dishes a lot at a time because it makes my sciatica flare up #so i have to do a few and then rest and then a few more and then rest #next i gotta start putting trash in the empty cardboard boxes #i was hoping to get to these while it was still light out so i could just take them out to the trash as i filled them #but ah well #it is what it is #i gotta get all the junk mail off of the table by the door #also sombra brand warm pain relief for arthritis and back pain reviews are in #1. not warm #2. all right for little things but not really heavy duty enough to stand up to situations like 'i stood in front of the sink for 7 minutes'
