Ok you know the scene, the infamous scene, in Empty Place, where they kick Buffy out of her own house because they don’t like how she’s leading them. Obviously, it’s probably the worst part of the entire series. Completely highlights the warped perception of Buffy that all her friends have of her through the entire series. Shows how truly isolated she was in her role as the slayers compared to those who chose to join the fight.

Well, with all the Hunger Games media having its renaissance, I’ve been seeing a dozen edits a day minimum, and I’ve been thinking. Imagine Katniss being told she was lucky. In the end, people questioning her place in the rebellion at the end of the series, but not because she was a child or because she was forced into the role. Instead questioning her authority and perspective by calling her ‘lucky.’ ‘Lucky’ to be forced into multiple games, to lose her loved ones to forces outside of her control, to be constantly fighting from a young age, to be forced into a leadership role without any choice, only to be cast aside and blamed when things take a turn for the worse.
