( MICHIEL HUISMAN. FORTY TWO. CIS MAN. HE/HIM. ) in texas, JAIME KUIPER is more commonly known as DOC/COOP. they’ve been living in stratford for FOUR YEARS and currently WORK AS AN EMT FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. some say they are UNAPPROACHABLE & DISCONNECTED but i’m more inclined to believe those that say they’re DRIVEN & FOCUSED. if you walk by their house, you can sometimes hear LE PERV by CARPENETER BRUT playing from their window. ( old dog tags hidden under tee-shirts , exhaustion claiming every aspect of your body ( and never letting go ) , craving that adrenaline rush you'll never get again . )
— quick stats. —
birth name: jamie kuiper. nickname(s): doc, coop. title(s): doctor, md., corpsman. age / d.o.b.: 42, august 08. gender, pronouns & sexuality: cis man, he/his, heteromantic/sexual. hometown: amstelveen, noord holland, the netherlands. current residence: straton, texas. occupation: emt (current), marine combat medic (corpsman) (former). education: acquired his medical doctorates through the military, high school diploma. relationship status: single. children: none. positive traits: adaptable, calm, driven, focused, intuitive, methodical, patient, practical, sentimental (ish), steady. negative traits: aloof, blunt, disconnected, faithless, irritable, malicious, nihilistic, sarcastic, solitary, unapproachable.
— quick bio. —
i. the only child of the kuiper family, jamie came into this world screaming bloody murder and established a certain aura about him that never left. for the first five years of his life jamie lived in the netherlands, but the kuiper family located to a sleep new england town for better work opportunities and naturally their only child was apart of the entourage. the new kid, he was picked on ---but he always fought back, bullying the bullies. it was his aura, after all.
ii. life was unremarkable. he was a smart kid, excelled, did well. when he turned 18 he strolled into the nearest recruitment office and enlisted. to navy corpsman school he went after boot camp, then he was shunted off to his tours with a marine battalion. while he was an only child his brothers in arms were more than enough for him to never question the details of a tight-knit family.
iii. his settling in straton was happenstance - after his tours were complete he checked in with old teachers in texas and the job opening was rumbled through the grapevine. offers were there for hospital work, but coop never played well with that sort of authority ---he settled happily as an emt with engine 13 for the adrenaline rush it brings.
iv. a true neutral party, coop has existed pleasantly on the line of keep me out of it but the work is incredible. he'll make house calls to interested parties - has even shown up to the club houses when invited for off-the-books patch jobs, but he won't choose a side. he won't even voice his opinion on the matter. he just does what's asked of him as far as patient care goes, drinks the ambient tea, and fucks back off to his little corner.
v. and then there's selene. his closest friend since he moved to the states, the one constant in his life. at some point his feelings changed from very close friend to romantic interest, but he's been mum on the topic. still, she's his obvious soft spot - the smile that reaches his eyes (when nobody is looking, of course) and the way he seems to melt into himself in her presence. finding her in straton was the bonus, the anchor to finally weight him back to earth in some fashion. he'll chase his adrenaline, but bring himself back to the ground for her. every little nice thing coop does is usually for or regarding selene in some form. a will-they-won't-they lasting literal decades, with timing never on their side.

For some reason, lately I keep thinking about back when Obama was still President and I went to EMT Academy. It was “boot camp” style, meaning, very strict rules, daily uniform inspections, pushups if you didn’t shine your shoes, “you have 2 minutes to get back on the line in your PE clothes” and “you have 2 minutes to get back on the line in your dress uniform” over and over until everyone could do it in 90 seconds, and literal obstacle courses where we had to carry each other on gurneys to learn how to handle difficult terrain and work as a team. Anyway on the first day they tell us two things: that the most important thing we need to remember to do is to look out for each other’s safety, and that they’re going to break us into 3 squads and each one will need a squad leader. Squad leaders will sit in the very back where they can see the whole squad and will have some added responsibilities and so on. With me being the kind of student that made my friends nickname me Twilight Sparkle, you can imagine my excitement to volunteer. So on the day they decide to pick squad leaders, they had us do a bunch of drills. Walk here, stand there, do this, do that. Move. Stop. Stand still. Until, in the blaring heat of the afternoon sun on un-shaded asphalt, they had each squad standing in a block facing one way and a line of us squad leader hopefuls in front of them, facing towards them. Both groups were told to stand at attention. Silently sweating perfection of form, if you like rectangles. I notice the obvious waver of a student in the front row who is trying very hard but is going to pass out if nothing changes. “She’s going to go down,” I said, pointing. No one moved, we weren’t allowed to. “Someone help her, she’s going to go down.” No one moved, we weren’t allowed to. “YOU,” I said, pointing to the student next to the waverer, “HELP HER.” No one moved, we weren’t allowed to. Except the faculty. It was at that moment that one of them stepped in and told the student I’d directed to help, “Get her to some shade, have her sit down, and bring her some water.” Finally. Allowed to move, the student helped, even while looking confused the whole time. They never told me why they picked me for squad leader, but this was the only thing I did differently than anyone else in the running for my squad. Anyway the main moral of the story is that helping out your fellow humans when they are suffering and/or at risk of great harm is more important than following arbitrary rules since arbitrary rules aren’t written for emergency situations. And the secondary moral of the story is that most people aren’t going to break the arbitrary rules in emergency situations, so you have got to step up yourself.
#true story#EMS#EMT#humanity#help each other#community values#honestly heat stroke is horrible and I think the faculty waited too long to intervene

MEET ROME
Full Name → Derek "Rome" Roman Rutherford
Age → 29
Birthday → August 5th, 1994
Order & Type → third, solo
Gender & Pronouns → cis man, he/him
Sexuality → bisexual
Occupation → firefighter EMT at Bearcreek Fire Department
THEIR STORY
(tw: death) For the first five years of his life he didn't speak a word and his parents had been worried about sending him to kindergarten but after determining that there was nothing physically or medically stopping him from speaking, they sent him and twenty minutes into his first day he spoke. When he got home and his parents asked him why he decided to speak that day, he answered simply that he didn't want his parents to worry. As a child Rome remained quiet and kind but restless. Always looking for a way to move and to use his hands, full of curiosity and determination, he took quickly to sports and science.
As he grew, the youngest Rutherford found himself making friends easily and while his strongest subject was science he managed to excel in all of his subjects and was impossible to beat at tag because he was just too fast. Everything about his childhood was damn near perfect. A loving close knit family lead by two supportive unconditionally loving parents who were open and encourage their children kind, empathetic and strong. So when career day rolled around his junior year it shouldn't have been too surprising that this scientific minded, athletic, bleeding heart of a guy found his calling in nursing.
For the rest of his high school career everything he did was to get himself into the nursing program at the University of Pennsylvania, one of the best nursing programs in the world. It paid off because he got in and with a scholarship to boot. Moving away from home had been scary, but with the love and support of his family the transition to college life had been as smooth as it could be. It was a new challenge that Rome took on with enthusiasm.
Toward the end of his first semester, he met Sasha and she was the most beautiful person he had ever seen, Sasha was smart, out-going and brave and a fellow nursing student. Despite his quiet and reserved demeanor he just had to say hi to her. It took until the end of their freshman year for him to build the courage and confidence to ask her out, but hen he finally did, she agreed. Once they got back from summer break they were inseparable and nauseatingly sweet.
Over the next two years, Rome and Sasha both found themselves wanting to enlist and be combat medics. So a month before they graduated, they got married and a month after graduation they both enlisted in the Marines. It as tough, but they never gave up and they were always there to keep each other ground and by the end of boot camp and their training they were being deployed to war zones. By the time they were twenty-two they welcomes a beautiful baby girl into the world, Iris Calista Rutherford, but like her dad she was pretty quickly referred to by a nickname derived from her middle name, Cali (pronounced khal-EE). Up until this point, Rome was living a life he couldn't have dreamed up if he tried. A beautiful wife and child and a job that was trying and exhausting but rewarding. Then tragedy struck. A little over a year after their daughter was born, Sasha was on, what was meant to be, her last deployment, when the chopper she was in was shot down. She didn't make it. After that, Rome was inconsolable, even unwilling to believe it. It wasn't until her funeral that it processed. He was a widower, at twenty-four.
For the next year, Rome was a shell of the man he use to be, he took his full bereavement leave and a little extra. While he could have gotten out of his contract, he only had one more year and for some reason, he hadn't been ready to let the military go just yet. So he finished out his contract and moved him and his daughter back home to Bearcreek, so he could be closer to his family so he could do what he needed to do to try and heal from his daughter and for himself.
Over the years Rome had become a more social person, nothing crazy but he would start conversations and put himself out there. Since his late wife's passing he had barely spoken a word to anyone other than his daughter. So, he got himself into therapy, and after a couple of months he decided he wanted to go back to saving lives and so he went to the fire academy and did his probationary year and became a Firefighter EMT for the Bearcreek Fire department. Five years after the loss of his wife and finally, Rome was feeling capable of maybe putting himself out there again. Make some friends, be more present with his family, maybe even date. While he still struggles to socialize, therapy has really helped him process and in turn has helped him return to the man he once was, not the same but maybe even better.

growing up, kaia was an adventurous kid. she was always outside, exploring nature and just enjoying the fresh air.
she was always encouraged by her moms to be herself, she always had a supportive environment.
she did fine in school grades wise, she was popular amongst her peers as she loved being social and being the center of attention.
out of all the people in her life, she was closest to her siblings. the three of them were practically inseparable, of course they fought from time to time, but they always ended up resolving this quickly.
hiking and walking in nature was how kaia spent a lot of her free time. doing nothing specifically, just walking.
graduated high school and opted to get her emt certification.
she loved being an emt. she loved hearing people's stories, being there to help them in their saddest moments and on occasion, their happiest.
she decided to follow her parents and moved to atlanta at nineteen.
kaia found employment relatively quickly as she was determined to get back to being an emt.
she met her first love a year into living in atlanta. she was an er nurse who kaia saw frequently during her trips back and forth from the hospital.

still super close to her siblings, she spends as much time with them as her schedule allows
delivered a baby in the back of an ambulance on her first day as an emt in atlanta
still not over her ex girlfriend (it's been five years)
she will get mad if you call her an emt and not a paramedic, she will tell you that there is a very BIG difference
doesn't really drink but insists on being there for her friends just in case anything happens
loves to go on hikes and nature walks still, she's been getting into nature photography as a hobby
has various unfinished diy projects around her apartment, will she ever finish them? the world may never know
iv. connections
someone she clicked with immediately. this person and kaia are known as those best friends. whenever kaia's not at work or with her siblings, she's probably with this person.
someone she works with/sees a lot during her job. this person probably also works as a paramedic/emt or in the medical field.
kaia's hiking buddy, someone who will come with her on her day long hikes and maybe even some camping trips.
someone kaia used to try and get over her ex girlfriend, she maybe lead them on then dropped them when she got bored.
a current fwb, very much no strings attached.
a fwb who has feelings for her, but is aware that she is very emotionally unavailable.
a childhood friends she thought she'd never see again, bonus points if they just happen to run into each other.
someone who helps her finish the diy projects she's started but never ended up finishing (there are a lot)

Shoot Out
TITLE: Shoot Out PAIRING: Javier/OC RATING: T CHAPTER: One-shot SUMMARY: Javier takes Dani on a date and it doesn’t go as well as he planned.
[A/N - I’ve been missing Javi. Inspired by “Blackout” from In the Heights.]
It had taken months for Javier to convince Dani to go on a date with him and now he was finally able to take her out.
The efforts to find Escobar had increased and the missions lead with the Search Bloc had doubled.
The investigation was currently stalled, so Javier had a Saturday night off.
Dani was the secretary for a higher up on the CIA floor and had been repeatedly warned not to divulge any information to Javier, no matter how charming he could be.
Javier, being DEA, didn’t interact with her much at work but they happened to live on the same floor in the apartment building owned by the Embassy. And on more than one occasion, Javier had driven her to work when her car was in the shop.
Dani was waiting anxiously in her kitchen for Javier. There was a knock on the door and Dani found Javier standing there dressed in a tight black shirt, leather jacket, tight jeans, and boots.
In his hands was a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
“Oh,” Dani breathed, “They’re beautiful.”
Javier wanted to tell her that the flowers didn’t compare to her, but he didn’t want her to think he was sweet talking her.
Dani took them from him and put them in a vase full of water.
Javier offered her his arm and they walked down to his Jeep.
There was a club not far from the Embassy that someone had recommended as a good place for a first date.
Javier hadn’t been on a real date in years. Javier didn’t count sleeping with informants as dates.
They got to the club and went inside.
“You wanna dance?” Javier asked Dani.
Dani shook her head. “I’m thirsty.”
They went over to the bar and Javier ordered drinks for the two of them.
Javier and Dani were waiting for their drinks when Javier saw one of Escobar’s sicarios enter the club. He had a gun on his hip and he was looking around. Javier quickly turned back to the bar and wrapped his arm around Dani’s waist. He leaned in towards her ear and said, “Go back to the apartment.”
“Javier, what…?” Before Dani could finish her question, the sicario open fired.
“Get down!” Javier yelled to bystanders.
People started screaming and running for the doors. Many people fell to the ground either dead or injured.
Javier pulled his gun out and started to return fire. “Go, go, go!” Javier yelled to the club patrons. He grabbed Dani by the arm and started to push her towards the doors. “Go!”
Tears filled her brown eyes. “I’m not leaving you,” she told him.
“Please go.” He pulled a guy aside and said something in Spanish.
The guy nodded and grabbed Dani.
“Hey! Javi!”
Javier had already disappeared into the crowd.
“Javi!” Dani screamed.
The guy pulled her outside.
There were police and EMT’s surrounding the club.
In the chaos, Dani managed to find Steve. “Steve!”
“Dani?”
“Javi…Javi, he’s inside.”
“Did they see you?”
Dani’s thoughts were a mess. She could barely think straight. She was just worried about Javier.
Steve grabbed Dani’s upper arms and shook her lightly. “Did they see you?”
“I…I don’t know. It all happened so fast. I…you have to help Javi.”
Steve pulled an officer aside and told him to drive her back to the apartment building.
Dani could do nothing but wait for Javier to come back. Instead of going back to her apartment, she camped out on Javier’s doorstep.
It was well after two in the morning by the time he got back to the apartment building. He found Dani asleep up against his door. Javier sighed. He unlocked his door before picking her up and carrying her inside. He gently laid her in his bed before she woke up.
“Shhh, cariño. It’s just me,” he told her.
“Javi?” she asked. She sat up and wrapped her arms around Javier, setting her head on his chest.
Javier leaned down and kissed her head.
“I was so scared,” she said.
“I know.”
Javier had been scared too.
Scared that a stray bullet would hit her. The only woman who made him feel alive nowadays.
Javier actually looked forward to leaving for work because it meant he got to see her.
“Can…can I take you on another date?” Javier asked.
Dani looked up at him and laughed. “Yeah, but this time we can maybe go to a restaurant not frequented by sicarios?”
Javier smirked. “Sure, hermosa.”

4-Tier Survival.
The tiers are as follows:
TIER ONE: This is your everyday carry (EDC) on person. You should have this with you 24/7 or as close to 24/7 as possible. Basically, if you have pants on, you should have these items with you.
TIER TWO: This is your EDC bag. You should have this with you or within reach 24/7. Take it with you to work, the grocery store, running to the gas station, etc. If you walk out the door of your house, it should be with you.
TIER THREE: This is your 72 hour kit, bug out bag, SHTF bag, or any of those other catchy names for them. At a minimum you need one. If you only have the funds for one, so be it. But, eventually I would suggest having one for the house, the vehicle and possibly at work if you have the space to store one.
TIER FOUR: This is for long term preparedness. This is long-term food and water storage and procurement methods. Always prepare your home to shelter-in-place first. Then, if you have a secondary bug out location, prepare it. Depending on the disaster or emergency you may or may not be able to bug out. On the other hand, you may be forced to evacuate or bug out.
TIER ONE: On-person EDC
Blades/Tools
Quality folding knife of your choice.
Quality multi-tool.
Lock picks/Bogota
Small compass.
Pen and small notepad
Small survival whistle.
Cotton bandana.
P-38 can opener.
Cell Phone.
Cordage
550 Cord. There are lots of different, creative ways to carry. There are bracelets, key fobs, zipper pulls, belts, even lacing your boots/shoes with it. Learn how to braid your own items.
Fire
Small brand name lighter
Small firesteel.
Tinder. Could be a magnesium rod, dryer lint, or any brand of quick tinder that is out on the market now, you should know what works.
Firearm
Light
Small flashlight.
Keychain LED light.
USB Drive
I use my USB drive to store all types of important documents and other information I run across and want to save. I have encrypted my USB drive in case it falls into the wrong hands. (I strongly suggest doing this.) Also, save the information under nondescript names. In other words, don’t save the file as: “Insurance Papers” or “Social Security Cards”, etc.
Birth/Marriage Certificates
Social Security Cards
Driver’s License
Insurance Policies/Cards
Vehicle Registrations/Insurance
Medical/Shot Record
Recent Check Stubs/Bank Statements
Stocks/Bonds
Property Description
Another option/addition to this is online file storage. There are many places available on the internet to store files on a remote server and be able to access from any computer or cell phone with internet access.
TIER TWO: EDC Bag
Tier two is going to contain pretty much everything from tier one except bigger and better.
Blades/Tools
Quality fixed blade knife of your choice. Again make sure it is sharp.
Sharpening stone.
Quality multi-tool. I would look at one to complement the one from tier one. A little larger and possibly features that the other does not have. I personally wouldn’t want the exact same model from tier one. Look at the ones that have the screwdriver possibilities.
Small entry bar or pry bar.
Larger more reliable compass. Possibly a GPS system if you are so inclined. If you are in a large urban environment, I would have a city map in my EDC bag.
Pens and notepad again. Plenty of pens and permanent markers.
P-51 can opener.(A scaled-up version of the P-38.)
Cell Phone/Communications
This is where I would keep a wall charger for my cell phone.
I would also think about one of the emergency chargers that run off of batteries at this point.
I also carry a pay-as-you go phone in my EDC bag. On some occasions when one service is down, others are still up and running. It’s a cheap insurance policy.
Radio of some sort. Depends on your location and abilities.
Cordage
I would carry no less than 25 feet of 550 cord in my EDC bag. The more the better. Again, options here, braid it to take up less space, key fobs, I’ve seen some braided water bottle carriers.
I would toss in some duct tape and electrical tape here. You can take it off of the cardboard roll and roll it onto itself and it takes up very little room.
Possibly some wire, picture hanging wire works well.
Possibly some zip ties. Various sizes as you see fit.
I also have a couple of carabiners clipped to my bag.
Fire
Another cheap lighter.
Larger firesteel.
More tinder. Personally I prefer the magnesium, but whatever you are comfortable with.
Firearm
I would however warrant the carrying of at least two spare magazines for the handgun in tier one.
First-Aid
Basic first aid kit.
Package of quick slotting agent.
Basic EMT shears.
Basic pain relievers, fever reducers, upset stomach tablets etc.
Small bottle of hand sanitizer.
Baby wipes.
Food
I always carry a couple of energy or meal replacement bars in my bag. If nothing else, I may have to work through lunch and need a snack.
Some people will toss a freeze-dried meal or MRE if they have room.
A small pack of hard candy.
Light
I personally prefer a headlamp at this stage. You can use a headlamp as a flashlight; you can’t use a flashlight as a headlamp.
Extra batteries. On the subject of batteries, do your best to acquire electronic items that use the same size of battery.
Another keychain light. I have one attached to the inside of my bag to aid in finding items inside in low-light situations.
Some people carry chemical light sticks in their EDC bag. I have found battery operated light sticks that also have a small flashlight in one end I prefer to carry.
Shelter
I keep a packable rain jacket at all times and depending on the weather a packable pair of rain pants.
I also keep a couple of “survival” blankets in my bag.
I keep a couple of contractor style garbage bags as well.
Water
I have a stainless steel water bottle that stays in my pack at all times. If I am traveling longer than my normal commute, I will toss in a small collapsible water container.
Ziploc bags.
Two-part chemical water purifier.
Filtering drinking straw.
Toss in a couple of standard coffee filters to filter sediment if needed.
Now, bear in mind, my EDC bag is not for long-term survival. I feel like I could sustain myself for several days if I needed to with the contents of my pack. However, that is not its intended use. All of the tiers are designed to sustain you until you can “make it” to the next tier.
TIER THREE: Larger rucksack or backpack
A lot of people would call this the 72 hour kit. However, I feel that in this stage of the game, you should be able to carry enough to survive indefinitely.
Blades/Tools
Quality fixed blade knife. If you want you can double up from tier two. Depends on your requirements. Remember, two is one, one is none.
Small quality folding shovel.
Quality hatchet.
Small machete.
Some type of saw or saw blades. .
Tools for forced entry if warranted. Pry bars, bolt cutters, etc.
Tool kit. Depends on your location and environment. At the bare minimum carry enough tools to repair anything that you are depending on in a survival situation.
Cell Phone/Communications
Depending on the level of the disaster cell phones may or may or may not be working.
Again, depending on your location and abilities, depends on the type of communications you should carry.
One thing I have not seen widely talked about is two way radios. Obviously this would be if more than one person is in your party. However, now you start talking about batteries and chargers.
Cordage
At least 100 feet of 550 cord.
Depending on your environment, climbing rope, harness and gear may be warranted.
Tape, electrical and duct.
Zip ties, various sizes
Wire, picture wire.
Carabiners, various sizes.
Fire
Cheap lighter.
Firesteel.
Tinder.
Camp stove. Small, lightweight, portable. A lot of good information about this out there. Pay special attention to the type of fuel that the stove you select uses.
Firearm
This depends on the type of situation you are in. I will list the types of firearms I would have, not necessarily carry, and reasons why. If this is a true bug out situation obviously the adults in your party could carry at least one, more than likely two, long guns.
We have already discussed a handgun.
“Modern Sporting Rifle”. Be it an AR based platform, an AK-47, Mini-14 etc. I personally like the AR platform. However, A’s can be a bit finicky if not properly cleaned and maintained. Something you may not be able to do well in a TEOTWAWKI situation. So, I would grab an AK-47. Whatever your budget and preference lead you to.
.22 caliber rifle. There are many options, I personally recommend the Ruger 10-22. There are several collapsible stocks available. This is for hunting small game.
Home defense shotgun. I would suggest a 12 gauge. The options and setups are endless. You can go as mild or as wild as your budget and imagination allow. This is not something I would necessarily always grab. However, this is something I feel that no home should be without. The sound of a shell racking into the chamber of a pump shotgun is a sound that will deter most people without even firing a shot.
Extra magazines and ammunition.
First-Aid
More advanced first aid kit. There are pre-made ones on the market or come up with your own.
Quick clotting agent.
EMT Shears.
Pain relievers, fever reducers, upset stomach pills, etc.
A week’s supply of any prescription medications.
Any supply of antibiotics or narcotics that you can procure.
Knowledge of natural/herbal remedies. Here is a great area where knowledge can help you a lot longer than supplies can.
Food
If you want to put in a three day supply of freeze-dried meals or MRE’s. Go for it. But here is where procuring your own food will come in handy.
I would suggest some type of mess style kit for cooking. Again, your choice.
Fishing kit. Fishing line, assortment of hooks, sinkers and artificial bait if desired.
Fishing “yo-yo” traps. Can be set and left alone to catch fish while you are doing some other task. I feel these are a necessity. They are light and take up little room.
Snare kit. I would suggest several pre-made snares and supplies to create more.
Traps. Connibear style traps, an assortment of sizes. 4-6 is all you should need.
Frog gigs. Could also be used for spearing fish, depending on your location.
You also have a firearm for taking small or large game.
Knowledge of wild edibles in your area or bug out location.
Light
Again, I would suggest a headlamp and extra batteries.
Use your discretion for what else you may want/need.
Shelter
Two changes of clothes. One for warm weather and one for cool/cold weather. Again depending on your environment.
I would suggest at least 3 pair of underwear and 6 pair of socks.
Packable rain gear.
Quality bivy style shelter or tarp.
Quality sleeping bag. Again, do some research. See what fits your needs and budget.
Sleeping pad if wanted.
Possibly a pocket style hammock.
Water
Stainless steel water bottle.
Chemical water treatment.
Water filter/purifier. Again, look at your budget and needs.
Coffee filters for straining out sediment.
Collapsible water storage.
TIER FOUR: Long term preparedness.
Even though this is the largest of all the tiers, I will probably go into the least amount of detail. There are many great sources of information concerning long term preparedness, SurvivalBlog.com being one of the best, if not the best, in my opinion.
Blades/Tools
Obviously any blade or tool previously discussed. Except full size versions.
An ax, saws, shovels, garden hoes, rakes, etc.
Possibly a plow, seeder, etc, for planting a garden.
Variety of hand tools.
Automotive tools, carpentry tools, etc.
Sewing machine, needles, thread, clothing patterns, etc.
Begin thinking of ways you can use your tools and knowledge to develop a skill that can be used for trade or barter.
Communication
Short wave radios, ham radios, etc.
Two way radios.
Cordage
Large amounts of any cordage or supplies under cordage already discussed.
Fire
Cast iron stove.
Fireplace.
Begin thinking now about how you will be heating your home in the winter. Think about how you will be cooking your meals. Also, think about how you will get fuel for your fire.
Firearms
We discussed in tier three the types of firearms I felt were needed.
Begin thinking about amount of ammo you can and are willing to stockpile.
Begin thinking about reloading your own ammunition. Begin thinking about stockpiling supplies. This can be turned into great bartering items.
First Aid
Begin developing a large first aid supply. Think about what you will need to do without a doctor present. Suture kits, surgical kit, trauma kit, etc. There will be no running to the emergency room.
Begin thinking about dental supplies. Again, there will possibly be no dentists to go to.
Again, knowledge is key in this situation. There are some good books about this type of thing. Take a first aid class, learn CPR. Learn as much as you possibly can.
Study about and begin stockpiling medications.
Food
There are many more articles to be written and read on this subject alone.
Start developing a small reserve of foods that you eat on a regular basis that have a long shelf life. Start with a week; go to a month, then three months, then a year, then longer.
Begin thinking now about storage. A year’s supply of food for your family will take up a considerable amount of space.
Expand on the amount of items you have from tier three. Increase the number of traps and snares you have.
Think about obtaining a variety of seeds to plant in your garden.
Again, there is a vast amount of information to be found on this subject alone. The main thing I want you to understand is this is doable, on any income. Start small and work your way up to larger quantities.
Do not get yourself into a financial burden by going out and buying a year’s supply of food at one time.
Light
Begin obtaining lanterns, fuel, mantles, etc.
Begin thinking about candles and candle making.
If you are so inclined, begin thinking about solar panels for your home or shelter location.
Shelter
Begin making those small repairs to your home. Things that may be fairly quickly and easily fixed now may not be so easily fixed later. I’m not talking kitchen remodeling; I’m talking leaky faucets, broken windows, drafty doors, etc.
Think about having a metal roof installed if you don’t have one already.
This is the time to think about a secondary survival location. A remote, rural location. Think of this as an investment. It could be used now as a vacation spot. Use it later as a retirement home.
Water
Begin storing water. Think not only about drinking, but also cooking and cleaning.
Again, start small. Begin with a few days worth; then weeks and months.
Start thinking about long-term procurement and storage. Gutters that empty into water storage, etc. Think also about purification on a large scale.
Miscellaneous Things to Thing About
Sit down and make a list of normal, everyday things that you do around your house, cleaning, washing, “personal” business, entertainment, etc.

📖📖
Pearl is an EMT suffering from trauma related to a bad case; Max is a catholic ex con who starts working out at her gym. Pearl has a car that’s not very reliable; Parvati works at the garage she goes to, and is in love with the captain of the local police precinct. Nyoka owns a food truck that serves dishes from “the old kingdom”, Felix works for her. Ellie is a surgeon from the hospital where Pearl is based.
When Pearl goes to a therapy group she’s surprised to find Max is the group leader, his calm eloquent manner is at odds with the furious way he’s been going at the punch bag. They begin a relationship, she learns that he didn’t want to work in his family’s business as a young man and fell in with the wrong crowd. He was framed for the crime that sent him to jail; but admits he did things in there that meant he deserved to be locked away. While there however he reconnected with his faith, and his studious nature impressed the prison chaplain who has suggested he applies to the seminary.
BUT there’s a secret underground bare knuckle boxing match due to take place, where he plans to kill the man that framed him. Pearl puts it all together after he goes missing from her apartment and tracks him down to outside the church where he just made confession prior to going to the fight. She fights him to stop him; the police arrive but Junlei let’s them get away, but brawling on the steps of a church has drawn too big a crowd so Max wouldn’t be able to go to the boxing match undetected.
They go travelling together and get high af at a full moon party. When they return to LA, they open up a recovery centre where Max provides counselling and Pearl does physio and rehab, all for what people can afford. They fund the charitable side by teaching boot camp and boxercise classes.
A local hipster paper describes them as “East LA’s hottest workout, but they’re married… to each other!” and “a bi4bi biceps dream”. Isadora has the cuttings framed (she’s still alive in this AU, she is very up in Max’s business but she approves of Pearl).

MUSE PROFILE: Isabel Josephine Hart .
real name — Isabel Josephine Hart
single or taken — Depends on verse. In her first main verse, her life mate is Freja Ranum... a Danish vampire. Another verse she is dating / engaged to Mary-sue Smith ( @torntruth ) and funnily enough, she also slept with their sister Kristen Durus. Guess it’s a small world after all! Otherwise in most verses, she tries to stay single due to her immortality.

She also can feel the spirit’s exact emotions prior to their deaths, during and after. Demons / evil or negative entities are her biggest weakness... because they can drain her energy and leave her vulnerable. They can leave a mark on her that lasts for weeks or a month, depending on how dark they are and it can cause Isabel to shift into a darker mindset or personality. She is immortal, so she has rapid healing / regeneration.

Adult JTK Crew headcanons
(This may contain some stuff that may be sensitive, such as mental issues, please put your mental and physical safety before anything!)
Jeff
-His father cut his hair against his will when he was 15. Around the time he suffered the injuries to his face, Which led to him not allowing anyone to touch his hair again. This event scarred him. Because his hair is his main source of confidence, he puts so much effort and care into it, and to see his own father just chop and butcher it off crushed him.
-After this, he was kicked out by his father, despite the protests of his mother and Liu. So he automatically went to Keith. Since he was the last person he had. He lived with him for a while. But slowly began to push him away when his mental health seriously deteriorated. Eventually just running away.
-In the events of running away, he met Slender. He saw potential in Jeff, so he took him in. He was quickly trained to be able to kill and fight. Eventually making his way to being a very well skilled hitman.
-Jeff feels absolutely horrible for leaving Keith behind. Cries about it often, because he still values and cares for him.
Liu
-Was extremely pissed off at their father. Which led to a lot of conflict between them. Which promptly got his ass kicked into boot camp. Which only fueled his thirst for violence. Liu also managed to learn some very valuable skills in boot camp. Such as survival and being able to make a weapon out of anything.
-Liu eventually got ballsy enough to straight up runaway. He doesn’t know how he fucking did it. One moment he was just shoving things into a duffel bag and the next thing he knew he was running down the road.
-Determined to find his twin, he scoured every corner of the city. Which led to him getting in a lot of physical altercations with many gangs and criminals. Despite that, he still kept going, but it was hard. Since Liu had to avoid the feds.
-Once he finally found his brother he almost broke Jeff’s ribs. They quickly began to team up with one enough. Slender eventually officially employing Liu to come into their mafia. Liu taking charge of the locations, targets, and whatnot. He makes sure that both he and his brother are safe. He stays back and watches, but that doesn’t mean he can’t do jack shit.
Randy
-Spent a few years in JDC for the shitstorm he caused, didn’t stop him though. My guy has the mentality of a fucking honey badger.
-Once he was out, Randy quickly discovered both Keith and Troy completely moved on. Both pissed off and sad that his only two friends had left him, he went out to find another crowd to run with.
-He joined a biker gang, he was weirded out by how close they all were, since he didn’t have anything like that. But he quickly got used to it. Along with riding on the back of someone’s motorcycle.
-Randy is out for fucking blood. He was completely humiliated in his time in JDC for letting a guy nearly a foot shorter than him send him to the ER and JDC. He wants to give Jeff a taste of his own medicine. Along with getting back at Troy and Keith for leaving him in the dust.
Troy
-Through a long time of self hate and body image issues, Troy finally fully gained back his confidence. Taking pride in the way he looks.
-Troy’s sudden surge of vigor and confidence actually led him to achieving his dream, opening his very own restaurant. He now works full time on his business and is incredibly proud of himself and his hard work. Both he and his Abuelita run the business and have so much fun doing so.
-But, he still feels the guilt of leaving his childhood best friend behind. Because even through Randy was a horrible influence, Troy still misses his best friend. He feels horrible about leaving him behind, but he tried to pull through.
-Troy also is a very big advocate for body positivity and acceptance. He wants others to be able to love themselves no matter what shape or size and be proud of it. Along with their family heritage.
Keith
-Keith was absolutely horrified when he saw Jeff sobbing with choppy hair on his front porch. Instantly taking the poor guy in. He couldn’t help but blame himself, despite having no control over what happened to Jeff. He tried his best to give him as much love and comfort, but ultimately couldn’t stop him from running away.
-Although Keith was completely crushed upon Jeff running away, he turned away to finish school. Slowly growing apart from Troy and Randy both. He put all of his stress and negativity into his school. It motivated him to just get better, be better so it could distract him from heartbreak.
-After a lot of years in EMT training, Keith finally became one. He instantly started on his job, using it as another distraction. But with some of the cases he received, he couldn’t help but have a meltdown after his shift.
-He hopes that someday he will see Jeff again, since he’s still hopelessly in love with him.

Dialogue promt! "Would you like top or bottom?"
Thank you @savagearchitect for the prompt!
I went with a Modern/Camping Trip theme. It’s a little NSFW towards the end but what else would you expect with that prompt? Hope you enjoy it :)
“Would you like top or bottom?”
He’s asking innocently of course. This is Jon and he’s just trying to be polite and give her dibs on which bunk she wants tonight now that they’ve made it to the shelter…if you can call it that. It’s a mere shack in truth, enough space to lay their gear and one sets of double bunkbeds to get them out of the elements.
“What I’d like is a shower,” she says with a touch of snarkiness because it’s safer to be snarky with Jon than to admit the thoughts that went through her head when he suggested top or bottom. Top me. Please, top me.
Gods, how will she make it through tonight with him so close and them all alone?
Everyone knows this is not ordinarily her thing at all but it was Robb’s 30th and he’d wanted to do this three-day hike.
At the time, it’d sounded rather idyllic; fall colors, crispy mornings, campfires and marshmallow toasting at night.
Instead, it’s insect bites (when, oh when will the bastards die off?), sore feet (the boots were cute-she had just failed to properly break them in) and sleeping on the hard, cold ground with only a half inch of padding and a sleeping bag separating her from the cold dirt (which is exactly as much fun as it sounds.)
The thing is, she’d allowed Arya’s scoff of disbelief and Robb’s sweet but downright insulting ‘You mean, you’d seriously go, Sansa?’ kind of push her into this. She should’ve just told them to have fun and that she’d bake him a big cake when they got back or something. But noooooo, you had to prove something, didn’t you?
So, here she is, a babe lost in the woods. Hey, I am rocking this plaid flannel even if I’ve not showered in…32 hours. Ick.
But, her cute hiking boots have caused blisters to develop. She’d tried stoically limping along in silence today as long as she could before Arya caught her by the stream with her shoes off and made a big to-do over her needing to get off her feet.
Then, Robb’s best friend (his scorching hot best friend) had volunteered to see her back to the shelter (one of the free ones the thru-hikers prefer) that they’d passed by earlier where he hopes to treat her feet, figure out how to pack her off back home and catch up with the others along the trail.
Oh, yeah…he’s an EMT. Jon’s very handy to have along on a hike. And very rugged with his scruffy beard and wearing his flannel and jeans. And way too sexy with his dark curly hair and chiseled physique.
He snorts at her longing for a shower and then suspends their gear from a strange hook apparatus. “Looks like we’ve got mice.”
“What?!”
“They love the shelters. Some people can’t clean up after themselves properly and ‘leave no trace’ as we say.”
“In that case, I’ll take top bunk.”
“Okay.”
Will she ever make it back to civilization?!
But an hour later, the mice have crept back into their hidey holes and Sansa’s feeling far less snarky and less in a rush for this night to be over.
They’ve eaten their meager meal. And instead of roasted marshmallows tonight, she’s getting a different sort of treat.
Jon’s massaging her feet, the parts that aren’t blistered anyway after he’s treated those blisters with some balm and carefully wrapped them in sterile bandaging. They feel almost normal again. And a foot massage is…well, she’ll never say no to a foot massage, especially from a man who knows what he’s doing.
“That’s sooooo good,” she moans. She doesn’t miss the way his eyes flash in response.
She should be embarrassed by this. She would be if she were stone cold sober. But Jon had pulled out his flask that he says he brought along for medicinal purposes and they’ve been passing it back and forth ever since he had her remove her boots.
He doesn’t tickle. There’s a steady pressure but not too much. He seems to know just the right spots to give special attention to. Is he a masseuse as well as an EMT? He sure knows how to treat a lady’s feet. What else might he know?
She rolls her neck and relaxes, the liquor uncoiling all that tightness in her shoulders. She smiles lazily and looks down at him. Her foot was edging dangerously close to his groin area. He doesn’t seem bothered by that. In fact, he’s staring back at her and kind of…
Oh, damn.
She leans forward, her chest heaving. “You’re really good at that,” she purrs.
He takes a second before he answers. “Thanks. Uh…all done.”
He pats her ankle and scoots away. She frowns and puts fresh socks on. The massage is over. She takes another sip from the flask.
“I’m sorry to keep you from the others tonight.”
“It’s alright, Sansa. I won’t miss Theon making jokes about cuddling for warmth. I won’t miss Grenn farting either.”
She snickers and nods. “I won’t miss wondering if I’m about to get eaten.”
“Were you in great fear of getting eaten out here?” he asks, his eyebrows waggling mischievously.
Eaten out? Oh, don’t give me ideas, Jon Snow, she thinks.
Except she didn’t just think it. Oh, shit!
“Uhhh…” He’s blushing and she’s made him uncomfortable. Great, she’s made herself uncomfortable!
“I’m sorry, Jon. I’m a lightweight when it comes to straight whiskey and I’ve not had a decent night’s sleep the past two nights and…I’m tired.”
“Yeah, okay,” he says, seeming to give himself a shake.
They both crawl into their bunks after mumbling an awkward goodnight. She stares at the ceiling of the little shelter feeling depressed now. She wishes her feet weren’t blistered and she wishes she hadn’t made Jon uncomfortable. She likes him…a lot. She always has liked him but spending the past two nights on this trek together she’s realized she likes him in unexpected ways. But she’s probably ruined that now. Figures.
She shivers in her bunk and tries to get comfortable. She tries not to think about mice. She tries not to think about Jon and what she might say to make things normal again. She wonders if he’s asleep. He’s quiet but maybe too quiet to be asleep. It’s hard to say.
“What kind of ideas?” he whispers in the dark just as she decides he must be asleep.
There’s an edge, a raw sort of rasp in his tone and she knows exactly what he’s referring to.
Her face heats up but that’s not all that’s heating up. “I could…show you…if you like,” she whispers back.
“I’d like for you to show me.”
She slides out of her bunk down to the floor as he unzips his sleeping bag. He raises it up to welcome her in. They’re soon giggling like children but they’re not children.
He tastes like his good whiskey with the vanilla and caramel notes coming through. He’s frantically unbuttoning her flannel while she’s shoving his boxers down, licking her lips and so eager.
“You want on top or…”
His words end in a long, low groan when she takes him into her mouth.

Day one
I wish I could call you and hear your voice. But as we both know we're time zones apart. Maybe there will be an off chance you'll take a look at my Tumblr today, and since you miss me would want to know if I wrote anything for you/about you. Well I'm in bed yet again missing you, wanting you to be next to me, missing and wishing for the summer to end so I can cook you a candle lit dinner at an air bnb.
So today was the first day of camp. 112 male boys ages 9 to 17. Dressed in a bright red button up, a dark brown Carhartt vest, brown cowboy hat, with boots. I think it might have turned you on lol. Jkjk I liked the outfit. It was all hands in the infirmery, and surprisingly it went smooth. A team of 2 nurses and 2 EMTs and we killed it. For one month these parents trust us with the care of their boys. Homesickness, boo boos, meds with every mean, and everything in-between. I think this has to be the best summer health team I've worked with. I'm really excited as to where we end up. We all have great experience, and we're all team players.
These kids come from all over the U.S some from the bay area, other from the Houston Texas area. It was really cool to tell them I was there for hurricane Harvey helping out their community, it was a cool moment to share with a group of boys. There was another cool moment where I was giving meds after dinner to boys, and just being a pure goof ball to them. Talking to them like a man child throwing jokes left and right. I was so in my element and I wish you could have been there to see me. It felt so natural, today really grounded me in regards to how much I love to work with kids in a medical setting. I'm tired and I'm ready for bed, but I didn't feel like worked at all today. I had fun, I enjoyed helping the 3 nose bleeds and 2 boo boos. Idk babe, today was just awesome.
It's 30min till 0000 and I think I should sleep soon. I have to help give meds out tomorrow morning. I hope your enjoying your self in Europe, it sounds like your exploring Europe and having a blast doing it. I'm happy for you. You worked so hard in your first year of law school, you deserve everything your doing right now. I'll never get tired of saying it, but I really am proud of you. You make me want to work just as hard at school. You're a positive influence on me, and thats why I'm so in love with you. I wish I could tell you all this over the phone. I wish I could hear your voice or just teliport to you in person for just 10mins so I could hold you in bed then tell you about my day...
Someday we'll get there, and I can't wait for it. I need to go bed now. So again just know I think about you every day, and every night. I miss you, and I love you.
Good night and sweet dreams from cabin Ramshorn.
