My new hobby is skimming through seasons of Ninj//ago to induce a fever dream like state in my psychese

#I've always had kinda like....petty beef with ninj//ago just cause like. EVERYONE compares it to monkie kid #When they r just not comparable beyond the surface level observation that its legos #Like ninj//ago contributes to the idea of an Asian monolith and uh. It's annoying to me.#It's also so thematically empty and they just reset shit whenever and it barely has characters. It's not good #Which makes me feel crazy when lmk is SO good. Like so so so good #Let it be known I've seen all that's out of drag//on rising #the first 3 seasons of the og show. And I skimmed through possession seabound and both crystal king parts #Gotta say. Sea Nya slaps like what the hell #Ninj//ago isn't good but that was legitimately like. Awesome #So there are officially 1 and a half episodes that I find thematically banging #I'm always a sucker for there being no good choice but still having to choose. Like I am. What decision can you live with #But Nya losing herself to the Sea? Losing her own breath and inhaling the sea to remove the water out of Jay's lungs?#The fact that she only became the water ninja because her friends needed her which eventually pushed her into this fate #Making it so she couldn't remember who she was or what her loved ones meant to her?#Her convo with nyad was like #duuddeeeeeeeeeee. brooooooo #Like she became eternal and endless. A force of nature but there was still a small part of her that remembered what ''good'' is #The part of her that would save a sailor who had gone overboard even if it went against the natural course of the ocean #Because there is no right or wrong there. Except in the small drop of Nya that was left #Like what the FUCK that's CRAZYYY BRO #Like she literally had to pull herself out of herself (the sea) to keep ''Nya'' together like. oh my god. How the cookie crumbles I guess #ninjago critical #anyways I've been losing my mind about Sea Nya and how nothing else in ninja//go is like it I needed to get it off my chest #sea nya

#ahahahaha #i’m watching my sister play for now and i like it so far!!#i do miss some of the old features and the more character driven story of the old games #but it’s still very cool #and eo3 was wildly unexpected in general so i kinda view the entire game as bonus content anyway #endless ocean

I don't think playing 3000 hours of endless ocean 1 as a child is the reason I'm like this but it certainly was a precursor of things to come

#i never even played through the story #like i was fully unaware there even WAS a story until i accidentally stumbled into a plot point that i had ignored for several months #and then they tried to get me to go to that trench area that i was scared of so i jsut never progressed past that #i still made up lore for the player character tho. childhood oc thingz #endless ocean

summer is hitting me something fierce and I want to do a beach episode because of it :( do you have any idea how much I love beach episodes :((((

#and movie nights #and slice of life filler #if it were up to me systema would be purely slice of life fluff #but with it also up to me i want it to be a dark thriller #sigh #anyway i live for fluffy shit #i can see it now #Eric? surfing. Sonia? getting a sick tan and being dumped into the water by Vincent #Amon? swimming. he is far. He is one with the water.#Nate? swimming then walking by the shore with sera. then going for some smoothies. he likes well rounded trips #sera? staying away from the water. and the sand. god this sucks. she would stay at the villa but the shore is nice to walk by #eventually she gets sick of it and flies around with a shorter nate in tow.#Strohl has blinded people #He still gets sunscreen for some odd reason.#he and katya lounge about before swimming a bit #Katya wears the most sunscreen to protect her career #sonia has a silent need to one up her so she tries being extra lavish and classy on this trip #rivalry stays strong even though shes over Strohl #Amon returns to the beach house covered in seaweed and with five ocean fish in tow.#Eric has surfed for a long while and vincent has enjoyed swimming and flying the day away #the men HUNGER #Nate has since cooked for everyone with Sera's help #Everyone enjoys a nice meal and then some with the fish amon caught #Adra made a ton of sandcastles with katyas help #etc etc etc etc etc #writing groups is fun #character interactions are endless #sera likes crabs and she enjoys observing the critters with her good eyesight #Shes never seen them before #Vincent does eventually tire of swimming to make a better and bigger sand fortress for adra

Look initially I was not excited to hear that there would be “an area that changes with every dive.” Like one of the favorites parts about the game was exploring the areas, completing the maps (pushing myself in going to “scary” areas to do so), and revisiting beautiful areas. But something else this would likely impede on is there being a story! You go to different spots, explore different areas! It’s just not possible without specific locations.

And the trailer we got for the game did not even touch upon the story. I think perhaps the trailer is more meant to draw in new people unfamiliar with it.

It mentions this generated ever-changing area called the Veiled Sea, then immediately shows multiplayer.

The Veiled Sea is a fantasy place they can implement generated areas in. And multiplayer is through the Online Play (maybe locally it’d work too) ….I think it’d be very dumb of them to bank on this being an exclusively multiplayer game. (If that was the case why not just make a diving game with a separate title?)

The trailer shows the atmosphere of the dives. The story likely isn’t going to be as enticing for a trailer showing a few quick snippets… the story in Endless Ocean 2 was very low-key from what I remember. (Not many flashy action shots for a trailer lol.) It’s a low-key game (with some little scary moments haha.) So marketing it with the story might not work as well…. Maybe showing off multiplayer and endless dives is what they prioritized, bc multiplayer games are kinda a big thing right now.

I’m like 98% sure the multiplayer and generating sea is just a feature they wanted to entice with. That remaining 2% of doubt is bc sometimes ppl do dumb things. And it would be very dumb of them to abandon the story and land exploration aspects that the previous game had in a new installment.

Imo the Overwatch fandom is at the perfect size rn. Not sprawling like it used to be, but not so cramped that you can’t get away from people you don’t vibe with. I like it at this size

#OW 2016-2019 (my first era with it) felt so impersonal sometimes #most of the posts/art/fics you made would get lost in an endless ocean of content (of wildly varying quality too)#it felt like there was very little cohesion bc every character’s fandom was bigger than the fandoms of some entire franchises #now it feels more like we’re all in this sh together lol
