tsumugi being so fucked in the head and devoted to eichi that he doesnt see an issue in trampling over innocent people but still recognizes that. obviously people may come to hate them for this. people are being sacrificed after all. and hes okay with that. hes so disconnected from it all that none of this phases him, even allowing natsume to get physical with him if he so pleases because god. all this man does is please

it all sucks so fucking bad though bc like. yea eichis plan worked in the end. tsumugis judgement wasnt exactly wrong. but tsumugi went along with it under the assumption that him and eichi had something. that even once the contract expired, theyd continue working together. but just like with natsume, this war ended up costing tsumugi the people he cared about. completely tossed aside once the gig was up. yumenosaki is better now, sure, but despite tsumugis claims of "no matter what anyone does to me, i cant feel anything," once the war was over and he was left all by himself natsume noted that he felt like if tsumugi was left by himself for longer he may do something reckless like take his own life. thats how badly this got to him. and in the end, after everything they went through, after everything they lost, natsume and tsumugi were left with only each other as they sat by that burning pile of documents

Okay, some quick Blackbird thoughts before I sleep:

The contrast of Wataru wanting to support Eichi under the pretence of filling their respective "roles" and Wataru slipping up and admitting his feelings just by talking to Eichi is too good: (Eichi) "I don't know how you feel." (Wataru) "Nor do I, really. Through my entire so-called "life", this is the first time I have felt as if I am actually alive. Whatever's inside of "me" is all jumbled up, I can't make sense of any of it."

Learning that Eichi was straight-up refusing treatment post-war is... a lot. Also complicates Eichi and Wataru's rooftop convo in EP:Link even further somehow (Eichi calling the students who committed suicide "losers", Wataru being afraid Eichi was going to take his own life, etc.)

THE PARALLELS WITH THE PLEAIDES NIGHT MONOLOGUES!! Wataru approaching Eichi because he has no one else left. Wataru staying by Eichi's side and thereby convincing him to go on living, promising they'll "weave a new story" together. Sounds a lot like one Natsume Sakasaki and Tsumugi Aoba.

And the contrasts with the pln monologue too! Wataru and Eichi begin building their idea of a new future based documents Wataru salvaged (he reproduces Natsume's plan), opposed to Natsume and Tsumugi burning the relics of their past. They also talk about revenge for a bit in a way which recalls how Natsume talks about the revenge he'll have on Tsumugi. (I say contrast because Wataru concludes revenge isn't what he's after.)

Random piece of dialogue that I wanted to share: "Your magic tricks are wonderful as always, Hibiki-kun." "You talk as if you know me, but we aren't close at all." "I've always paid attention—to you, I mean."

Honestly, this is the best thing to come out of Enstars in a long while. If Enstars ended service and became a series of light novels I'd be happy. I hope the ex-fine/eccentrics story manages to live up to this.

ive said this literally 5 times but god im so sorry for what youre going to wake up to. any the fact that the first few pages of the chapter is mitsuba having to eat a supernatural's heart and the lines "you actually think that thing looks tasty dont you, you wouldn't be making that face if you didn't" and the the next page is a color spread of kou and mitsuba eating at a diner. fucknig whiplash

those first 4 pages are the biggest indicator that shit was about to go down, that line of dialogue is going to be stuck in my head forever. and next chapter is going to have colored pages too damn. actually next chapter is chapter ONE HUNDRED. if this was chapter 99 i cannot imagine chapter 100

realtalk anything that’s a big project is always gonna be pushed aside for pef lkghlskdlkgh ive been on and off working on a olberhardt postgame thing since i beat olberic’s chs in octopath that i basically go back to and write a paragraph of every time i finish a pef chapter so that will. ideally be out somewhat soon WWWWW 

thats the one thats most likely to get Published but beyond that ive been tossing around concepts for a fe3h au where (black eagles spoilers) edelgard dies during the childhood experiments and ferdinand is picked to be the replacement heir after some political manuevering from his dad. eventual ferdibert but Very slow burn in the “they start out deadass hating each other” way u kno. i dont really kno where to take it tho i gotta wait for alm to finish black eagles so i can bounce ideas off them

O: How do you begin a story–with the plot, or the characters?

HMMMMMM........... this is a tricky one bc basically almost all my story ideas are “hey how would chara a react in a situation like this” or “what kind of situation could i do to make chara a act this way” u kno. like. pulling out the obvious example pef was “ok but an ng+ where goro is the one who goes back” > “ok but his character means hed try to speedrun it” > “ok so how do we keep him from doing that thats still ic” u kno? so pef is basically character driven the whole way thru

but for emperor ferdie au (black eagles spoilers) my thought was “hmmm is there any way to avoid a war in this game while still keeping the same backstory + history?” and realizing that. the only way el would give up on her ambitions is if she’s dead. and then it was like going from there how all the other characters react to that nad that kinda stuff

so i guesssssss it’s like. ill have a concept but the way that it moves forward is based entirely on how i htink the characters and stuff would act u kno!!!

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

haha let’s start with non-fic authors bc i talked abt fic writers a lot recently. honestly my biggest influence is probably alice hoffman!!! i really deeply adore the atmosphere in all her works; i’ve probably reread practical magic like a thousand times......... its so good. one of the things i like is how thematically well all her stuff ties in together too like. practical magic is all abt love and everything abt it is abt love and family and i just!!! its so good

hmmmm beyond that....... lemony snicket/david handler really influences my desire to make character voice present in stories wwwww same with john dies at the ends’ author whose name is escaping me. JOEY COMEAU IS A BIG ONE (asw author) his books are always soooo well done. i think abt one bloody thing after another All the time please read th...... i havent read her since early high school but francesca lia block was a big influence in terms of metaphor (im sorry).... and akira-sensei’s writing w/enst is genuinely one of the biggest influences i have re:timeline stuff and foreshadowing and slow reveals........ ill never forget how i predicted most of lionheart before it dropped wwww their style is good

in terms of non-prose authors.... clamp for storylines + thematic stuff, the way they play w/consitent themes across not only a single story but entire works is good. satoshi kon is smth i think abt a lto when i try to think of an interesting approach to take w/starting a scene if that makes sense....... thinking abt my “”camera”” for that stuff........ zero escape fuels my desire for characters to start talking abt stuff that seems totally unrelated to the situation at hand but later on u realize its Desperately Connected thats a lot of fun wwwwww

ficwise i think i mentioned before i really consider decolark’s dialogue hugely inspirational....... luv how they can convey so much in so little u kno. pengiesama is someone ive followed for Years at this point and her sense of humor in fic is really really good it’s smth i want to be able to do wwwww ladysisyphus for story hooks + general engagement levels............

writing is good. theres a lot of good stuff out there.
