the writers made murata stay in the temple during ep045 bc they knew if he met elizabeth the chemistry between them would be so powerful that she would immediately dump wolfram and the episode would have zero conflict

If James and Jessie had to go up on stage for karaoke night what songs do you think they’d sing?
they pick their own theme song every single time. like i’d love to give you a fun answer but pokemon has 1000 episodes and within the first 45 of them team rocket not only found a karaoke machine but wrote and performed their own song in full costume.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you can think of something that a human being can do team rocket has probably done it

Rocket Gang sings a song from EP045 (original Japanese lyrics)
How would you compare it to the English dubbed version of their song?

ncfan listens to The Magnus Archives: S2 EP045, ‘Blood Bag’
- This is another episode I can’t help but think Ito Junji would have a field day with. I’m starting to think that about an increasing amount of the episodes of this podcast, as it happens. If any of you find mosquitoes or the possibility of being unwittingly exposed to blood-borne diseases the least bit upsetting, maybe skip this one. I’ll try not to go into too much detail.
No spoilers, please!
- First of all, I really hate mosquitoes. Malaria isn’t a common problem in Georgia, but mosquitoes are everywhere in summer. If you have outside pets and their water bowls are outside, you have to check those bowls for mosquito eggs every day, and tip it out and refill it if you catch even the slightest sign. I have been “swarmed” before, though outside the realm of fiction, being swarmed by mosquitoes means picking up maybe a dozen bites over the course of about half an hour.
- I was struck by the description of the bag that was being used to hold the blood substitute, and later the infected blood. Made of a material extremely reminiscent of human skin, and with Dr. Thompson insisting on sticking human hair on it, it sounds as if he was almost trying to make a vaguely human dummy. It’s just one of the many “I’m not quite sure what I’m looking at here because I’m lacking the appropriate context, and that unsettles me” moments in this episode.
- It’s made clear immediately that Thomas Neill was seriously fucked up by what he was exposed to in the lab, health-wise. The fact that he wound up dying is, unfortunately, not exactly surprising.
- From what I understand, mosquitoes actually have an important place in the ecosystem—their larvae are a prime food source for fish, and if you remove the mosquitoes, then fish numbers decline, the numbers of the animals that feed on fish decline, and so on. So maybe poisoning the mosquitoes isn’t really the right thing to do.
- The Victorian-era syringe feels like it was a talisman of some sort. Given the way everything immediately starts to go wrong once it’s sold to Mikaele Salaesa, it feels like it had an influence of some kind that was keeping the disease entity presumably working through the mosquitoes in this episode at bay. And it sounds very much as if the disease entity in the episode took the opportunity to take its revenge on this descendant of John Snow, who paved the way to making the world a less diseased place.
- And Mikaele Salaesa shows up again. I agree with Jon that no way in hell is his repeated appearances in these statements a coincidence. He shows up, sells someone something, and something really bad happens to the person who bought stuff from him.
- The exchange between Salaesa and Dr. Thompson in the pub is another one of those moments when I can’t be sure just what I’m looking at. Ostensibly, Salaesa is paying Dr. Thompson quite handsomely for that syringe, and handing him the money through the briefcases. But I can’t help but wonder if that’s really cash that was in that briefcase. It’s possible that the mosquitoes somehow managed to convert the “hemoglobish” into the infected blood—I’d argue it’s even probable (Especially considering Dr. Thompson’s reaction when he finds out about the infected blood). But we never do see what was in that briefcase.
- My stomach dropped when Thomas Neill started telling us about all the diseases bacteria that was found in the infected blood. The strains that they were able to identify were bad enough, but I really start feeling itchy when Neill tells us there was stuff in the blood that no one was able to identify.
- And there goes Dr. Thompson. And what a way to go, Jesus.
- So Tim studied anthropology and then somehow wound up as an archival assistant? Wow, I didn’t realize Tim was secretly me.
- With the “supplemental” part of the episode, I had to laugh a little, because Jon is so bad at being a (paranoid) “detective” that he didn’t even think to lock his office door, and Martin burst in on him in the middle of it to ask him if he wanted some tea. Don’t be dismissive of Martin, Jon; he cares about you and he just wants to make sure you don’t drop dead. But the moment Martin asked if that was a picture of Tim’s house on Jon’s desk, the laughter dies, because we’ve learned that Jon has graduated from simple paranoia to stalking, and honestly, that’s the scariest moment of this episode.

Growin Up Rock Podcast – Joel Hoekstra Interview – EP045
Growin Up Rock Podcast – Joel Hoekstra Interview – EP045
Whitesnake’s guitarist, Joel Hoekstra is the perfect portrait of what today’s guitar god looks like. The man comes across as humble with true personal values, but on stage just enough attitude and swagger that draws you in, and has you standing on your chair with your fist raised high above your head. Oh, and we can’t forget the most important trait in a guitar hero. You must be able to wield…
