Simone Simons - VERMILLION
Tumblr media
1 - Aeterna 06:02 2 - In Love We Rust 04:46 3 - Cradle To The Grave (feat. Alyssa White-Gluz) 03:59 4 - Fight or Flight 05:24 5 - Weight of my World 04:21 6 - Vermillion Dreams 04:36 7 - The Core 03:56 8 - Dystopia 04:44 9 - R.E.D. 04:04 10 - Dark Night Of The Soul 04:12
For more than 20 years, ever since she was a teenager, Simone Simons has been spearheading the world of female fronted metal. As a lead singer, icon, and role model for a whole generation of female metalheads, the Epica lead singer remains one of the most prominent key figures in all things metal. After eight albums and countless global tours with her band, Simone Simons finally found the time to release her first solo album “Vermillion”, showcasing her many different influences ranging from prog rock to film scores to metal to electronic elements.
Simone chose not to rush her solo project, opting instead to thoughtfully consider how she wanted to present herself. Enter stage right Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon). Her musical partner and longtime collaborator is no stranger to her soaring operatic voice. And while many would use their solo effort as a radical, even provocative departure from everything they stood for, Simone remains true to her love for epic melodies, huge choruses and monumental, intelligent music.
Release date: August 23, 2024

BG3 Character Theme Songs
So, I used to create playlists for characters from games etc when I was on Tumblr years ago, and I miss making them big time. So, I've made one for some of the BG3 characters that I feel fit them as a person. I've created it in some sort of order of who you meet first (or attempted to create an order anyhow). Playlist 1. Delain - Masters of Destiny [Lae'zel] 2. Evanescence - Taking over me [Shadowheart] 3. Slipknot - Vermillion Pt 2 [Gale] 4. David Draiman - Forsaken [Astarion] 5. Kamelot - Torn [Wyll] 6. Pale Waves - Red [Karlach] 7. Epica - Memento [Minthara] 8. Kamelot - Willow [Halsin] 9. Cellar Darling - The Spell [Jaheira] 10. Nightwish - Ghost Love Score [Isobel] 11. Disturbed - Avarice [Dame Aylin] 12. OTEP - Ghost Flowers [Orin the Red] 13. Kamelot - Veritas [Raphael]
Spotify Playlist link [X]
Please let me know what you think and feel free to suggest other characters you'd like me to add!

Tag game from @wispstalk: post your 9 favorite album covers. Aesthetics, not necessarily favorite albums.
Got tagged by @dirty-bosmer and @skyrim-forever. Thank you, you know how much I love to nerd about music & related topics. All metal this time because let's face it, we just got the best album covers. We wear them on shirts for a reason 😁
1. Cathedral - The Ethereal Mirror
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I actually have a favourite album artist:
Dave Patchett, responsible for those gorgeous Cathedral album artworks as well as the Electric Wizard debut album and, funnily enough, the infamous artwork of Dance of Death by Iron Maiden. However, the band used the barebones prototype, which resulted in Patchett not wanting to be credited.
What I love about those covers is not just their freaky, Hieronymus Bosh-esque design, but also that they come as posters in the actual booklets, so one can really appreciate all the little details.
2. Kamelot - The Black Halo
Tumblr media
I love the sinister undertone of this artwork, befitting a two-album story loosely based on Goethe's Faust.
3. Ghost - Meliora
Tumblr media
This is a cover that warrants a second look. At first it's just sinister in the same way how, at night, some people tend to interpret grimaces into everyday things. But then you take a closer look and see that there's some sort of sacrifice going on.
4. Cattle Decapitation - The Anthropocene Extinction
Tumblr media
You look at this artwork and know everything there is to know about the album, from the topic to the sound. And both punch you in the face.
5. Epica - The Holographic Principle
Tumblr media
Not much to say here; I just love the use of colour in this piece.
6. Ahab - The Call of the Wretched Sea
Tumblr media
I love how this artwork feels like a painting from the late 18th/early 19th century. Also, it's one of those tell-tale artworks. You know this album is atmospheric, brutal, and about Moby Dick.
7. Amorphis - Under the Red Cloud
Tumblr media
This is an album artwork where, the longer you look at it, the more details you spot. At first it just looks like an abstract pattern but then...
8. Subrosa - More Constant than the Gods
Tumblr media
Minimalist elegance compared to the rest of the list, but no less beautiful and very fitting for the album.
9. Pain of Salvation - Remedy Lane
Tumblr media
This artwork fits the album soo well. I love how those people almost seem to interweave, just like their lives are intertwined on the album. I also love how this artwork conveys intimacy despite only depicting two approximations of people. There's also a hint of darkness in there—love it!

7, 9, 19, 26 for thr music ask if you will?
7. Favourite album(s) - I've listed my top 5 several times on here, so maybe it'll be more interesting to add some others:
Kamelot - Silverthorn; although Haven is my favourite, this one is just perfect from start to finish, including the bonus tracks
Lacuna Coil - Black Anima; I swear, even after 30 years they still get better with each album. Maybe it's because of the change of Andrea's vocal style. I don't know.
Delain - April Rain; can't forget that one
Ad Infinitum - Chapter II: Legacy
Amaranthe - The Nexus, although it's a tie between it and The Catalyst for now
There are several others, classics like Iron Maiden's Somewhere In Time and Judas Priest's Painkiller, but I have to end the list somewhere... :D
9. Favourite concert I've attended - hmmm, that would be the Kamelot concert in Sofia in 2022, partially because I missed their last coming to Bulgaria before the pandemic and wasn't really sure if I'd have the chance to see them again. And when the opportunity came so soon, you know the spirits were high! The Lacuna Coil one from last year in Imola, Italy was also special, because of the very homely atmosphere.
19. Favourite song with colour in the title - Under Grey Skies, also Nightmare's Red Marble & Gold has been stuck in my head for the last few days.
26. Song I relate to: I'm not sure if I can explain it well but I relate to a lot of my all-time favourites HOWEVER, it's usually only partially. For example, the aforementioned Under Grey Skies - I usually find it difficult to convince myself that everything will be fine when dealing with something difficult - so although I can't always relate to this mentality, I like the "there's hope no matter if you think so, trust me" message. It is calming to me. With that said, I'll put Delirium by Epica here, because of the way the lyrics go from melancholic to optimistic, back to pessimistic and then to hopeful again.

I’ll do my On Repeat Spotify playlist for maximum whiplash
1. the Vampire From Nazareth - SepticFlesh: The album that this is from (The Great Mass) is fantastic. SepticFlesh has been a metal staple of mine ever since I heard this song more than a decade ago.
2. Dessumiis Luge - Eluveitie: I never listened to this band up until a couple months ago, I can’t believe I slept on them all these years! This track is in Gaulish, and it’s taken from a found text that curses Roman soldiers for a “false oath.”
3. The Great Tribulation - Epica, Fleshgod Apocalypse: I am really into this album right now—This is from Alchemy, an album that was a collaborative effort of symphonic metal between Epica and several other artists. If you’re into symphonic metal I think it’s absolutely worth a listen.
4. Mercy Mirror - Within Temptation: I quit listening to WT for a few years, I didn’t find anything they did past about 2009 interesting; but I gave them another listen and actually found that I quite liked a lot of their later stuff (not all of it though, we won’t talk about the song they did with Xzibit).
5. Hakkerskaldyr - Heilung: I just had the immense privilege of seeing this performed live about a month ago. If you need some weightlifting music, you can’t go wrong with most Heilung. The text of this chant is taken off of a stone written in Proto-Norse, experts argue over the translation, but it seems to be an Odinic funerary rite chanted by a koryos/berserker band for a fallen comrade.
6. Apage Satana - Rotting Christ: now this one is a rollicking good time. If I had the talent and budget for music video directing, I’d set this song to a storyline that pulls heavily from Nathanial Hawthorne’s Young Goodman Brown, but set in Old Florida. You’d get it if you saw it.
7. Snake Pit Poetry - Einar Selvik, Hilda Orvarsdottir: I highly recommend a listen, it’s a beautiful lament about a gruesome death.
8. Goodbye Horses - Q Lazarus: my husband and I were talking about Silence of the Lambs and thought we’d look up the Buffalo Bill dance song. Surprise, it’s an absolute banger.
9. Lana Del Rey - Say Yes to Heaven: it’s so Ultraviolence-core, I love it. I wish she’d release five more albums that sound like that and not boring shit like her last three, I said what I said, Jack Antonoff die challenge.
10. Small Town Boy - Paradise Lost: hands down THE BEST cover of this song
I think all of my friends have been tagged already, I tag @fenris-returns

EPICA's SIMONE SIMONS To Release Debut Solo Album
Tumblr media
EPICA singer Simone Simons has announced plans to release her debut solo album. The LP's first single, "Aeterna", which was co-written by Dutch songwriter, singer, musician and record producer Arjen Lucassen (AYREON),will make its online debut on Tuesday, May 7 at 9:00 a.m. PDT / 12:00 p.m. (noon) EDT.
Earlier today, Simone took to her social media to share a teaser for the "Aeterna" music video, and she wrote in an accompanying message: "May 7th everything will turn RED. At 18.00 CEST my first single AETERNA will go live.
"@ayreon_official and I created some masterful melodies for you! We will go live on Instagram tomorrow at 18.30 to hang with you all and let you in on all the details of my solo album."
This past March, Simone told Mexico's Summa Inferno that EPICA's follow-up to 2021's "Omega" album will likely be released in 2025.
"I love the songs so far that we've written," Simone said. "There's more [songs that have been written] than fit on the album. So it's gonna be cool. And we won't tour that much this year. So we are focusing on the EPICA album and the 'Symphonic Synergy' shows [where EPICA will play alongside an orchestra], which is a lot of work."
In November 2022, EPICA released "The Alchemy Project" through Atomic Fire Records. The EP was co-written and performed with diverse guests ranging from extremists like FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, Niilo Sevänen (INSOMNIUM) and Björn "Speed" Strid (SOILWORK) along with melodic masters like Tommy Karevik (KAMELOT),keyboard legend Phil Lanzon (URIAH HEEP) and Roel Van Helden (POWERWOLF) to a once-in-a-lifetime song with Simons, Charlotte Wessels and Myrkur.
Just one day after the release of its anniversary reissues "We Still Take You With Us" and "Live At Paradiso", EPICA celebrated 20 years of existence live in September 2022 at 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands, the same place where they played their first show (supporting ANATHEMA) back in 2002.
EPICA was formed by guitarist/vocalist Mark Jansen after leaving AFTER FOREVER in 2002, and the band quickly gained attention outside their home country, taking big steps towards becoming the leading symphonic metal superpower they have long proven to be. After their ambitious debut "The Phantom Agony" (2002) and the surprisingly eclectic sophomore work "Consign To Oblivion" (2005),the road took them to new heights via their first concept masterpiece "The Divine Conspiracy" (2007) and their global breakthrough "Design Your Universe" (2009). 2012's opus "Requiem For The Indifferent", 2014's bedazzling "The Quantum Enigma" and "The Holographic Principle" (2016),cemented their reputation as not only one of the hardest-working metal bands in the business but also as one of the best. With "Omega", the final part of the metaphysical trilogy they began with "The Quantum Enigma", they reclaimed the throne without so much as the blink of an eye, amassing three million-plus streams during the first week of the album's release.

Jogadores do Flamengo as Divas do Gothic e Symphonic Metal - Parte 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
David Luiz as Liv Kristine (Theatre of Tragedy, Leave's Eyes, Solo)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Arrascaeta as Vibeke Stene (Tristania, Veil of Secrets)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
João Gomes as Simone Simons (Epica)
Tanto o João quanto a Simone começaram ainda bem jovens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pedro Guilherme as Sharon Den Adel (Within Temptation)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Arturo Vidal as Clementine Delauney (Visions of Atlantis, Exit Eden, Serenity)
