I just love James so much & he didn't need to die

I immediately becamed enamored with when I first watch COTBP & have been so invested with his character ever since.

he's just such a beautifully written complex character & seriously one of the best male characters disney ever created. he bears some resemblance to an Austenian hero. he's a good natured man who's deeply flawed & struggles with internal conflict, that has also made grave mistakes that he deeply regretted. he wants to do the right thing so badly that he sacrificed his integrity in order to regain honor, but all it did was leave him lonely & depressed. I cried so hard when he died, not just cuz he was killed off but also because his death was pointless.

James is also a perfect example of how not write a complex character. his character arc from COTBP to AWE was brilliant, until the end when it was cut off too short. he had not completed his hero's journey, he still had to atone for his actions & make amends, but he was not given the chance to do so. his death served no purpose, if he was kept alive it would've made no difference to the ongoing story, & everything would've continued the same. there was so much more that could've been done with him, so much more to explore about his character cuz he was so fascinating. honestly I feel he was so underutilized in AWE & only served as a plot device for Elizabeth's arc which is so unfair, he deserved better than that. he didn't need to die for Elizabeth to continue her story. his death also sends the message that if you suffer & make mistakes you deserve to die which is very bleak & macabre.

he didn't need to become another tragic character. his death was just so sad & unnecessary. he deserved better.

also please look at his smile! he's so cute! I wish we saw him smile like this more! he deserved to be happy like this all the time!

just finished reading Wings Of Starlight & I want to SCREAM! it was so heartachingly beautiful! I am in pain!

I've been obsessed with Clarion & Milori ever since I watched Secret Of The Wings so I was happy when I heard there was gonna be a book about them & the story of their relationship, as well as the relationship between the Winter Woods & the warm seasons. I've never anticipated anything so much in my life, & I am not disappointed. it was so much better than I ever could've imagined. Clarion interacting with the Winter Woods & the fairies who reside there was so sweet, she cared so deeply about a realm & people she's never visited before, & it hurt her heart how alone they were. she wanted so badly to fight for them & bring them back together with the other seasons. Milori having to bear the heavy burden of keeping the nightmares imprisoned & his people safe, & blaming himself for them getting out & causing devastation throughout pixie hollow, & Clarion just wanting to help him & ease his sadness. everything about the development of her relationship with Milori from their first to last meeting was so wonderful & also so full of sorrow. the way they fell in love felt so natural, every little interaction was so cute, & the yearning & angst was intense. they saw themselves in each other, the loneliness they felt & the duties they had to take on. (it was seriously one of the best written romances) he watched her star fall & made a wish on it! there was so much pain when they said goodbye but still so much love. I just wanted to cry. also how Milori broke his wing OH MY GOD I WAS NOT READY! THE FACT HE NEVER FOR ONE SECOND BLAMED HER (BECAUSE IT WASN'T HER FAULT)! I CAN'T!

just think, between the events of the book & the movie, they had to be apart from each other for 380 years. I can't imagine the immense loneliness the two of them felt being so far away in their own respective realms, still being so in love but unable to be together like they want (f**k I can't do this) their realms united but they remained separated. but I can't be too sad cuz they end up back together.

also I need to mention the fact that we got not one, not two, not three, but four kisses & they were so passionate! (the last one being so sad) romance & my inner childhood are healing!

god I loved this book so much.

also "Stay A Little While" by Amaranthe is definitely their song. 🥹🩵

Faramir is such a beautiful character. his sadness really broke my heart. my poor boy really suffered.

my sweet prince I wish I could protect you & take away your pain. you deserve so much love.

also he & Éowyn are the best LOTR couple & I'm forever annoyed they didn't kiss in the film. but still their scene together is so soft & sweet. made me so happy seeing both of them feeling so loved by one another.

I'm watching AOT again & I just... I just love Erwin so much oh my god. he's literally so perfect & he's so beautiful. I wish he didn't have to be another tragic character. his complexity & the internal conflict he deals with is astonishing character work.

we don't talk enough about how much this man suffered. he deeply cared about his soldiers more than anything including his own life & yet so many died under his command. he had no problem making sacrifices despite sparing as many lives as he could. he had to live with the guilt of their deaths, being haunted by the ones he couldn't save & also blamed himself for his father's death until his own demise. he carried great burdens no one could begin to understand. i understand why he died but I still wish he didn't.

this man was an angelic demon in every way. still he deserves all the love & appreciation.

also look what a dork he is he's so adorable what I wouldn't give to see him smile like that again

Sailor Senshi and Shitennou Romance Essay -Sailor Mars and Jadeite

Whew boy, if ever there was a pairing that drew me into Sailor Moon way back when my sister was watching it as a kid, it was this one. I, to be honest, had a crush on Jadeite. He was a smooth type, and a villain that I really enjoyed, even with the weird filler stories. The thing is that, I liked Rei but didn’t like her at the same time back then. I thought she was too much like Usagi and felt that there wasn’t a lot to her in that sense. It’s hard to explain because looking back even I don’t really understand my like and dislike of her. The thing was that my sister then clued me into the manga and I started to look up the stories and as I got to know Rei more, I became more aware of the fact that I liked the idea of her and Jadeite. It just sort of clicked.

Rei as a character is a very soft spoken serious type of person. She’s beautiful, in the old fashioned Japanese beauty type that her creator seemed to be going for. Long black hair, soulful eyes, and yet her distant and coldness seemed weird for someone who was connected to fire. 

At the same token you have Jadeite, who, until I read the manga, I had no idea what his actual powers were, and even then I was a bit confused by things…and then crystal came along and everything seemed to fall into place on why these two have a connection like they do.

If you look at their powers, much like Jupiter and Nephrite, it’s hard not to see the connections between them, especially in this case. Mars is the god of fire, and as such Rei’s fire ability you would think would be a clash with her outer personality of someone cool, calm and collected. Yet, during Crystal, and in the manga, we see a lot of that comes from the fact that she’s passionate and compelled to keep the princess safe. She has no time for the frivolities of life, as her own desires come second to that of the princess and keeping her protected at all costs. Because of this, fire would make the most sense for her as with Rei, who hides her emotions so as not to get hurt again due to her father and the man she cared for, that internal need to cleans and purify, destroy but also protect and keep warm, grows inside her like a flame that bursts out. We’ve seen Rei mad, and we know that her temper can tear someone apart, yet she keeps that locked down hard and tries her best to not let her own feelings get to her or let others know that they have.

On the flip side of the power though is Jadeite with his skills in creating golumns from the earth, and ice. You’d think, well ice is water, wouldn’t it melt by the heat. And there’s the thing, Rei is cold but compassionate. She keeps things locked in, but also can show others her feelings when she gets to know them. Jadeite, on the other hand, shows his emotions on his sleeve. He’s the first one we see smiling, and clearly the one that is the most fluid with his own feelings and the like. So why ice? Mostly because their opposites, fire and water, but with ice, it allows the flames to touch it before it melts away. Again, ice will melt in flames, but depending on the temperature of it, it takes longer. So I think the idea here is that while Jadeite can show his emotions better, that doesn’t mean that his darker feelings may be held close, thus the ice. And fire, when it heats clay, can create things. So by that, the two have a direct connection in that her power is what’s needed to complete his clay set up.

Sailor Senshi and Shitennou Romance Essay -Makoto and Nephrite

(Again, Warning: If you are reading this on Mobile, there is no read more to be seen. Everyone else, longer post below the cut.)  

So on to my second favorite pairing. It’s a weird thing that I like these two. Originally after watching the first anime I couldn’t stand Nephrite, and that’s probably because I really disliked the way they made him with Naru. I’m not sure what it was, maybe his smug nature in that show or some of the other aspects about him, but I just couldn’t get behind the character at all. It actually took me reading the manga and then watching Crystal to get his character and realize there was more to him then what the first anime made out. Not that he was a bad character there, but via Crystal and the Manga as well as the Materials collection, I could see why Ms. Takauchi decided to pair Makoto with him, and probably changed some of her plans in regard to who ended up with whom.

What’s also interesting in this pairing, and a bit odd, is that they’re opposite colors. Red and Green, are typically seen as fire and wood, and Jupiter’s attacks are mostly electrical and plant based, but, Nephrite’s are Shadow and wind it seems and both actually are connected to one another. You need electricity to power light, which gives way to creating shadows and darkness, and you need wind to help with the growth of wood, as it blows not only water around in the form of air molecules but also there’s a connection there in how it tends to help the trees grow stronger through bending them and allow them to change their appearance.

So you have an opposing color theme going, but not an opposing personality theme, like Rei and Jadeite’s blue and Red scheme.

So what about their personalities connects these two? Well let’s start with Mokoto’s and peel back the layers to see.

Sailor Senshi x Shitennou Romantic Essay - Sailor Mercury and Zoisite

(Again a warning. Due to the way Tumblr works on the phone, this post is long and if you’re reading on a phone there is no read more button. Sorry in advance.) 

So after thinking about it for a while I figured it would be better to start off with the pairing I think is actually the most interesting because it seems to be the most quiet in terms of their personalities, that being Ami Mizuno and Zoisite.

This, oddly enough, is my favorite pairing, and it’s not your traditional romantic couple by a long shot. Ami has always been the quietest of the girls, and second only to Rei when it comes to not being able to deal with boys. Unlike Usagi, Minako and Makoto, Ami is the one of the group that seems less incline to be busy with a romance. This is not to say she’s against it, and it’s been clear in various versions of the show that she wouldn’t mind having a husband and getting married. But part of her goal is to become a doctor, so romance isn’t as strong an idea for her versus the other three, minus Rei.

Sailor Senshi and Shitennou Romance Essay: Venus and Kunzite

Let me start by saying that Venus and Minako has always been my younger sister’s favorite character and, for that reason, I spoke to her about the pairing to get a different insight. One of the big things that I noticed right away with the famous picture is how close and intimate Venus and Kunzite are, and that’s not a coincidence. Minako was designed to be the beta Usagi back when Sailor V was first conceived, and this is true of Kunzite as well. Judging by how Takauchi described him in the Materials collection, as a prince, this at least tells me that he was probably going to be a Mamoru character stand in for Minako to chase after, and it showed. We had a clone of Kunzite even show up in the Sailor V manga causing her to have her memories starting to return, and then there was the whole thing with Kaito Ace, who practically indicated that she was in love with Kunzite and that no one else could even get close to her because of it.

Because of this, it very much seems like Takauchi had plans to have Minako and Kunzite be the beta couple for Mamo and Usagi, and this, I think, lays a lot of the groundwork not only for the finalized Sailor Moon series romance between the two mains. But, also became they became the lead base for all the other romances in the Shitennou x Senshi romances, and even extending to the Outer scouts romances as well.

Sailor Senshi and Shitennou Romance Essay -Introduction

(Warning. Due to the way Tumblr Mobile is working for me there may not be a read more on the mobile version of this essay. I do have one up on the computer version of the program, but apologies for anyone reading this on mobile. I’m still trying to work out how to make this work better for the readers there. I may have to eventually set it up where there’s a mobile only blog…but until then…yeah…still working this all out. )

Where to even being with this. I suppose I should start as to why I would even do an analysis on the romances here, given that they were very limited in scope of the story proper. We only really got a quasi-detailed account of Kunzite and Venus from Sailor V and the main Sailor Moon Manga. Yet, it seemed to be that, even despite not being able to write about the romance in her work, (due to either her own issues with writing long works. (Something that Ms. Takauchi has mentioned in interviews before), or the story proper not being able to facilitate a longer narrative for the romantic structure (it’s a Tokusatsu after all)), Ms. Takauchi still seemed to want to have those romances in some way. If you look at her artwork and some later stories –such as Casablanca Lilies and the short story about Sailor Moon’s other child (which is non cannon) –we know that she does have focus on the girls love lives.

I haven't seen Magic Knight Rayearth in so long & I was finally able to watch it again! this is the most beautiful anime ever & my absolute favorite! I feel like it's so underrated it really deserves so much love. ❤️💙💚 

I loved everything about this anime. the characters were absolutely the heart of the show. they were so wonderful, a lot of them were so fun, & some of them had so much depth being more complex than others. the fantasy world was beautiful. the overall story was beautiful & fun, but also so depressing. 

Lantis was always my favorite character. he was so beautiful & perfect. he carried so much sadness but was still always so kind. all he wanted was to spare someone else from the suffering & sacrifice of being the new pillar. he never wanted anyone else ending up like Emeraude & his brother. 🖤

the romance aspect of the anime is what really drew me in. love is portrayed as something so precious that can save the world but also brought so much heartache & sorrow. the tragic romance with Zagato & Princess Emeraude was so heartbreaking. when it was revealed they were in love & Zagato only wanted to save her from the burden of being the pillar I was almost in tears. it took death for them to finally be together in love. they really deserved better. 💔 

I loved watching Lantis & Hikaru slowly fall in love with each other but having such a hard time admitting their feelings for each other, Hikaru especially being afraid of her feelings for him. Lantis was always so soft & gentle with her. their relationship was written so beautifully. I was so happy when they confessed their love but so frustrated with how it ended. I really wanted to see them together. I need a continuation of this anime with the girls back in Cephiro, & Hikaru & Lantis reunited! 

also I loved Eagle so much! his death completely devastated me! he was such a good friend to Hikaru & Lantis despite being on the other side of war. he was a kind heart & a pure soul. I miss him. 💔

Prince Philip is the most badass prince EVER. And here's why.

Okay, so he’s got a girly face, and he wears tights and some high boots. Sure.

But check out that noble steed. That’s one ready-to-kick-ass-and-take-names steed.

While other princesses just run away and leave nothing, Philip gets AN INVITE TO HER HOUSE. He gets a song, a dance, and a first date.

He comes home, just to tell his dad he’s not going to marry the princess because he’s in love.

No. Other. Reason. He rides in and is just like, “I met the girl I’m going to marry. Now I’ve got a birthday party to be at. Bye Dad.”

Now how much do you think his dad weighs? That short fat little man? Probably pretty heavy.Not a problem for Prince Philip.

And then he gets jumped by goblins, both hands tied behind his back

But that’s not enough to stop Prince Philip.Oh no.

He breaks his hands free and starts chucking goblins.

Look at that face. That face. The “BITCH JUST YOU WAIT” face. He may be tied down by a dozen goblins but he’s not gonna take no shit from this witch.

In fact, he’s so strong, she ends up keeping him chained to the wall, but he still fights back.

Now when he finally does get free–

He’s ready to go into battle UNARMED. He don’t need no shield or sword, he’s going to go punch Maleficent’s face in with his fist. If Flora didn’t stop him, he probably would have, too.

Backed up against a cliff edge, nowhere to go. Fighting off goblins. But there’s so many and just one Philip.

NBD I’LL JUST JUMP AND SLIDE DOWN THE ROCK PILE IN MY SKIN-TIGHT TIGHTS.
