My Top 5 Favourite EQG/MLP Askblogs (in no particular order)

1). @ariasarchives (Indefinite Hiatus)

I know I said that I don’t have a particular favorite, but I think AA takes the cake to be honest. This blog centers around Aria Blaze and the other two Dazzlings. Here, it basically follows thier everyday lives since they are not evil anymore, thier struggles and relationships with other people, platonic and romantic. Not to mention that they have kids and their trees are explored thoughout the story. It takes place 7 years after the battle of the bands.

The creator has stated that he’s uncertain if he will continue with the series, but for what it’s worth, it was a great run 👍 

2). @sunsets-serenade (Still active)

What started off as a blog about Sunset and her everyday life is now a Sunata (Sunset x Sonata) themed story ^^ I’m a late follower to this blog, but from what I’ve seen from it so far, it’s a pretty interesting read. I’m neutral on the pair, but I’m also interested in the story. Unlike many EQG ask blogs these days, this one is still active, so that’s good in my opinion. And I hope to see more stories along the line. 

3). @dusk-oceanos (Indefinite Hiatus)

For what very little it was, it was an interesting read and I wish there was more. The story basically starts with Sonata and her life without the other two dazzlings. Then suddenly, Aria comes back into her life. From there, the story basically focuses on Sonata and Aria mending things and talking about their kids and their pasts.

Like AA, this series is also on a indefinite hiatus. I wish I’ve seen more before it ended, but again for what it’s worth it was a good series while lasted.

4). @scisetdiary (Story is on a indefinite hiatus, but still active for art sometimes)

A Sciset story, in which it follows Sci Twi and Sunset’s relationship, lives and thier struggles. It also follows the life of their daughter, Sapphire Sparkle. This story also crosses over with AA.

This series had a good run, but unfortunately the creator ended it due to losing interest. It does saddens me, because it didn’t have a proper conclusion, but I understand completely. I’m just happy that it lasted as long as it did.

5). @ask-twigset (Status Unknown, most likely indefinite hiatus)

A SciSet themed blog that wasn’t active for too long, but had a lot of promise and potential. It basically takes place in college, where the two start dating.

6). @ask-sunpie (Canceled)

A sunpie (sunset x pinkie pie) blog. From what I read,  it takes place a few weeks after Sunset’s Backstage Pass. Sunset and Pinkie are dating and basically the series planned to have a couple of stories along the way. Unfortunately though, it was canceled and the mod plans to delete the blog. For what it’s worth, the blog really was interesting and was looking forward to more. I’m grateful for what they did do though 👍

7). @honeycrisp-tales (Still Active, but very slow)

A fun little blog about Cadence and Big Mac’s daughter in the EQG world, Honeycrisp. She also has a group of friends who are related to some of EQG’s characters, including Adagio being like another mother figure to her. It’s a fun little read ^^

Solar and twilight; *use their magic to hold winter frost in the art*

Part 4

Solar and Twilight, the conjoined pony duo, harness their combined magic to easily lift the enormous fuzzy creature. Solar, fueled by frustration, and Twilight, brimming with disappointment, manage to still their massive dog in its tracks.

Overwhelmed by the flurry of unanticipated social interaction invading their once tranquil solitude, Cyprus is spurred into impulsive action. Ignoring the potential feelings of their uninvited guests, they begin hurriedly ushering them towards the exit. "Thank you for visiting and introducing my walls to your sizable canine, goodbye now!" they exclaim, the words tumbling out in a rush, their desire for their regained peace clear in their hurried tone.

For your Equestria Girls AU, is Sunset initially not being in the Rainbooms band until the end of Rainbow Rocks because of Sunset feeling too guilty and ashamed at her previous actions from before or because of the Rainbooms (especially Rainbow Dash) maybe having a small sliver of uneasiness with Sunset (as the Dazzlings imply when they confront Sunset)? Or is it some combination of the two?

I want Rainbow Rocks to change very little in this rewrite, because it works well enough as it is. So the barrier between Sunset and the Rainbooms does come mostly from them (understandably) not being able to fully trust her again after she drove them apart -- though the snippy comments mostly come from RD this time. (I'm particularly proud of making RD Sunset's ex-bestie because it explains her being kinda horrible in the second movie. Sunny was bad company and in a way she's reaping what she sowed with Dash.) That doesn't mean Sunny isn't going Through It, though. The guilt and frustration are there as they were in the movie, because being left out is a significant part of her trauma regarding Celestia.

I'd tweak the second act confrontation between her and the Dazzlings a bit: they know what she did, they know she straight-up mind-controlled the school (an impressive move and very similar to what they do with their music), and comment that if she ever gets tired of being an emotional punching bag to the Rainbooms, they are willing to take her in as a Dazzling; this way, she would be free to be as evil as everyone thinks she is. (Someone could overhear the conversation, but I don't know how to properly set that up and it's really not necessary)

This would be set up for the Awesome As I Wanna Be scene, where she prevents RD's transformation in the worst way possible by tackling her mid-song. Adagio shows up congratulating her on successfully sabotaging the Rainbooms and says she really convinced the Dazzlings to take her in as one of them. Dash is immediately furious, the girls are skeptical but full of questions, and Sunny tries to say something but eventually just kinda goes "you guys are never gonna let me live it down, are you?" and leaves.

(Of course she'd come back to rescue them from under the stage, and the rest of the movie would play out without major changes with the exception of a big apology from everyone for the attitude they had toward Sunny, especially RD. That she saved them even after the way they treated her is a big testament to the fact that she changed for good, and it was unfair of them to keep bringing it up and distrust her the way they did.)

This took less time to draw than i thought actually; I first attempted a few nights ago but 1. couldnt find a base i liked on DA and then 2. tried to freehand and gave up. 3. tried tracing over an image but it was low res, so i almost just....didnt do this ask. Glad i came back to it because wow! this was a fun challenge.

If it's not too much trouble would you mind sharing more on your thoughts about AJ? Esp the line she shouted at Rarity and her "struggle with sexual identity" I'm kind of new so I would like to hear more! Does Rarity also struggle with sexual identity and fearing AJ would leave? I love the family oriented person A and the business inclined and impressed by shiny new things person B trope

Ok, this is gonna get into head canons and personal opinions.

The writing in Rollercoaster of Friendship (and EQG as a whole) is much simpler and more stripped down in comparison to FiM (most likely to appeal to a younger audience; don't want to seem like I'm dissing the writers), but that one confrontation made me sit up in my seat because it carries the entire special.

More under the cut cuz I don't want MLP analyses clogging up my blog.

For one, we've seen AJ get frustrated and angry about the same exact conflict over a girl in FiM (Rara), establishing a pattern. And even though she's right (her friend really is being manipulated), I read both cases as her acting out in jealousy too. Here's this girl who she's felt a unique attachment to being "taken away" and changed by someone new. This is most apparent in RoF; the moment Vignette introduces herself, kisses Rarity on both cheeks, and establishes herself as Rarity's "new best friend," AJ immediately reacts with shock, betrayal, and boldfaced jealousy (made even worse when Rarity forgets her during introductions). Although AJ acts independent, she's actually very emotionally dependent on certain people in her life.

If we come into this with the assumption that AJ has romantic feelings for Rarity –– which is a normal assumption given the director/writer confirmed the special was written as a romantic drama between the two –– AJ's line is all the more heartbreaking. If I may slip into fictional speculation: your crush is no longer listening or paying attention to you, even though you know something is wrong and that she's getting hurt. Your frustration at her lack of awareness is really your anger at her lack of care –– she doesn't care about you anymore. So in a fit of rage, in your big, dramatic confrontation, just to make her look at you, react at you, feel how she's been making you feel all day –– unwanted and unspecial –– you hurt her back. AJ yells, "You're not special!" and Rarity cries.

And what really gets me is that AJ lies. In this moment, she lies that Rarity's not special when (again, assumption of romance) she's the most special person in the world to her. So special that she's placed all her feelings of self-assurance and security on their relationship. So special that the moment their relationship is shaken and she doesn't know to recover it –– recover herself –– she lashes out, acts against her character, and says something dishonest just to hurt the girl she loves.

(Honestly, rewatching this special, AJ is so insecure and attention-needy. The way she pouts and slouches and lags behind the group and says, "Never mind. It's nothing," when asked what's wrong is textbook "please pay attention to me and ask me what's wrong because i need a reason to be honest about feelings i know i should be ashamed of" behavior.)

I think AJ's insecurities (which could be tied to her lack of experience with romantic relationships) reveal how she has a tendency to misattribute and redirect anger onto the person she cares most about (see Simple Ways as well, where she's caught on the opposite end of a jealousy spat). This could easily become a very toxic trait, but AJ grows past it. Near the end of RoF, the two come together and apologize. AJ recognizes her entitlement and confesses her insecurities about their relationship. She felt hurt and attacked when her status as Rarity's best friend/girlfriend was threatened because it's a role she uses to self-identify –– if Rarity isn't hers, she loses part of her identity. And she admits that she thought her motivation was to protect Rarity, but really she was just being selfish and protecting herself. Rarity was busy and stressed and needed someone to lean on just as much AJ needed her. She isn't AJ's emotional support girlfriend, and it wasn't right to expect her to be one.

(Which is why Rarijack is peak because throughout both series, they repeatedly show just how important honesty, open communication, and trust is in maintaining, supporting, and growing a romantic relationship.)

I just finished your Magnum Opus, and it was super great. I especially loved the Pinkie chapter (which surprised me because she’s my least favorite character!). Anyway, do you have any mlp fic recommendations?

oh boy do i have a list for you, strap in!

if you read my magnum opus writeup, you may have seen i mentioned three authors that dragged me back into mlp. if you're interested in sciset (and what's probably the most popular eqg fic on the entire site), Long Road to Friendship by Albi is a longfic that started after the first eqg movie and is a rlly lighthearted read. i don't normally care for OCs but gosh if i dont accept Albi's version of trixie's parents as canon in my heart haha. if you're interested in pony adventure fic, i also rlly liked Sunset of Time, another rlly well done longfic ive carried in my brain since i first read it xd

the second author, Monochromatic, aka the raritwi authority aka someone who has a GREAT taste in editors, has written three of the most formative longfic ive ever read: The Enchanted Library, its sequel The Enchanted Kingdom, and Crimson Lips which i unfortunately can no longer link since she's taken it down, but i believe you can still buy physically through PFP if you wanted to take a gamble on it (it would be a very good gamble). apart from her longfic though i also adore some of her shorter works, including but not limited to The Choices We Make, a really interesting Pinkie study that's definitely shaped how i view her, Your Own Worst Enemy, which is just. peak rarity content, and Injuring Eternity, which while being one of her older works still has certain passages that wreck me emotionally on sight.

and the third author responsible for my magnum opus is the one and only Aragon, who i can not only recommend for his fics but ALSO for his blog posts and comics (see the comic index on his profile for links to all of them, as well as this amazing blogpost about his neighbour that is just peak comedy). he's also the writer responsible for the banger longfic Crime and Funishment which absolutely defined my writing aspirations for a few years and is the definition of comedy if you looked it up in my heart, as well as In Hindsight, yet another banger rarity fic, and Love Is In Doom which is just bloody, silly, stupid fun (and has sunset shimmer in it)

and then if we want to talk fics i love written by other authors, Sleepless Knights by r5h has my favourite brand of scitwi written right into the margins, Administrative Angel by horizon has one of the most amazing endings to an opening chapter ive ever read AND an amazing celestia, The Best Night Ever by Capn_Chryssalid is a fandom classic with a groundhog day twist on the gala episode from s1, Side by Side by Krickis is a feel-good rarijack oneshot w a focus on lgbt (specifically trans) themes, Wax Earplugs by Reedhoarse has a dysfunctional mess of an adagio dazzle that i adore, Merge Request by FanOfMostEverything has all the scitwi/midnight shenanigans you could ask for wrapped up in the relatable content of github hell, Guppy Love by PaulAsaran is a rarijack longfic with an incredibly realistic setting and an interpretation of mermaids that i love so much, Doused Flame by heartlessons has me handshaking on the "sopping wet pathetic relatable guy" flash sentry interpretation that won me over recently, 80 Days 'Til the World's Farthest Shore by Cynewulf feels like reading a professionally published short story (and i mean that in the best of ways, it's enthralling), and finally if you'll allow me to be self-centred a bit i also am very proud of my two oneshots Heartstrings and Something About Midnights if you wanted to check em out too xd

Going through your blog since I came across a lovely post with Luna and Moon and now! Obsessed with Robots in Ponyville!

So I have a few questions and feel free to answer as many or as little as you want!

How does DCA react to colourful, talking, magical ponies?

Is the virus present here and does that affect much of the story and is there any effort to help get rid of it?

What role do they get (ie childcare, baking, etc) and where do they live during their time in Equestria?

Whats Twilights initial reaction and if this happens post Equestria Girls does she write to have any input from Sunset about these human looking robots?

Since we have an idea of Luna reaction/relationship with Moon whats it like with Sun? And how does Celestia react/interact with either of them?

Anon I am BITING YOU!!! I AM BITING YOU (POSITIVE)!!!! I'll answer with a bulleted list under the cut so as to not clog people's dashboards with a super long post. I am SO EXCITED TO TALK ABOUT IT!!!

Okay! Both are honestly terrified at first, but they react in different ways. Sun is the first to encounter the ponies and Moon's later direct encounter is informed by his memory of Sun's. Sun is a people pleaser, so he seems like he's going with the flow. He's not. He's just biding his time until he can find a way out of this mess. Moon decides to cause as many inconveniences as he can because he's not sure if the ponies are being genuine in their attempts to help them. He operates under a "you can't hurt me if I hurt you first" mindset.

The virus is very much still present! It's not as intense as it was in the Pizzaplex since the Daycare Attendant is no longer connected to the network, but it did fundamentally change them. The effects of the virus play a big role in both Sun/Moon's arcs. If the can get rid of it or not? Time will tell.

They live in Ponyville for the time being! They don't intend to have a permanent residence, so they kind of live with each of the Mane 6 for a while... Minus Rainbow Dash and not just because she lives in the clouds.

Twilight is FASCINATED. Equestria has never seen machinery as advanced as the DCA let alone anything that runs without magic. She's read about the multiverse theory of course, but seeing living(?) proof of it is mind blowing! I'll be honest, I didn't even consider EQG. I'm thinking Equestria Girls happens much later in the Robots in Ponyville timeline, if only for my own peace of mind. So Twilight has no idea what humans are.

Sun is very wary of both princesses. Luna because of the similarities between Nightmare Moon and his own lunar counterpart, and Celestia because he cannot understand her own actions. Moon kind of resents Celestia for what she did to Luna all those centuries ago, even if her sister has forgiven her. Celestia, like Luna, sees herself and her sister in the animatronic's relationship and wants to help them. She is annoyed by Sun's attitude, but doesn't show it most of the time. He may or may not occasionally manage to get under her skin.

Despite the object's ominous aura, anyone familiar with these two would know what's coming next. Both being quite adventurous and playful by nature, it's practically inevitable that they're going to dive right into investigating this intriguing find - likely through a round of boisterous and magical play.

Artist Note: It's natural to sometimes feel disappointed with one's own work, especially when we know we haven't put our full effort into it. However, I won’t let this momentary feeling of frustration discourage me. I will remember, it's through these moments of dissatisfaction that we push ourselves to improve. I’ll embrace this as a learning opportunity, and as a motivating factor to invest more time and energy into my next piece of art. Every artist has their off days, but it's how you bounce back from them that truly defines your artistic journey.
