Przewalski's Horse (equus ferus przewalskii)

Not the greatest picture but it was really exciting to finally get to see some Przewalski's Horses! These are a rare wild horse (the last true wild horse) native to Mongolia. Every one of the 1900 Prezwalski horses alive today is a descendant of the only 14 caught in the wild in the early 1900s. They are now slowly being reintroduced into protected areas in the wild where they once roamed.

Likewise, the Sakha (Yakut) people always donate one mare from their large herds of domesticated Horses to a shaman.
