Well the Frenchies (Gasly Ocon) are going to be teammates next season and they hate each other so maybe we'll get some spice. Although I don't think Ocon got it in him to be a cunt
esteban ocon is a legend of the sport for this alone don't get it twisted (context)
hello f1 asks here :P 21 what is your favourite f1-related quote? and 17 who do you think is the greatest of all time? xoxo nicke
HELLO HELLO
ok favorite quotes, there's a couple. obviously I have to mention "if you ever don't go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver," probably the f1 quote of all time. I think enzo ferrari's "if you tell a child to draw a car, he colors it red" says so much about what ferrari is that it makes me feral. of quotes from current drivers, I was just reminding everyone of the time max said about lewis "god may be with him, but he is not god," which is just a level of feral I cannot understand. estebestie's quote about how he knows he can always get checo to back off (when they were TEAMMATES) because "he's having a child, he doesn't want to die" is massively underrated. when my phone rings I will more often than not do charles's "why are you colling me, do not coll me," which is the second most fun quote that requires doing the accent. the most fun quote that requires the accent is "zhere are many sings zhat ve vill never undastand about zee relationship between lewis and nico, because it goes all ze vay back to ze kahting days," possibly the most ridiculous thing anyone has ever said out loud.
who do I think is the greatest of all time!
ok so first of all, there are only two answers I will even accept for this debate, and they're schumacher and hamilton.
[I understand that there are people who think that senna's driving is just beautiful in ways that I don't understand the sport enough to see, and I think that if he hadn't died he likely would have won more titles and put himself in contention... but he did. we can't know what he would have achieved. you have to actually win the titles, not just be good enough to win them.]
[If you think Max could get there someday... ask me again in 20 years and if he's gotten there we'll talk!]
to me, what puts lewis ahead of michael is the remarkably different conditions under which he won his titles. lewis won his first title in the era when you still had to refuel the cars. he won in the turbo hybrid era. he won after the introduction of the halo. he is the only driver to have won in any two of those eras, let alone all three. maybe recency bias is coloring my sense here, but I don't believe that schumacher's career covered such big technical changes. and lewis won against some of the best--especially beating defending wdc fernando alonso head to head in equal machinery as a rookie.
