RUAAAGHH I CANT IGNORE THE LORE ANYMORE.
Rant under cut (I need help on this)
Ford went to the second dimension. Bill destroyed the second dimension. Unless he didn't, and he just killed everyone in the dimension. But then it wouldn't have been inhabited by shapes like Ford said. Besides, Bill had been frequently visiting the second dimension (the quiz in the book of Bill where the optical illusion thing was "this thing has been in my dimension for a while, it's yours now") so he would have gone back into it. He said his dimension was destroyed. Maybe we can think of it as an estate, but that wouldn't make sense either. He would have moved to the inhabited one instead of going to the nightmare realm. There has to have been some sort of complication, it DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.
A dimension, we can think of it simply as a room, the room more than likely has a galaxy or at least stray planet in it, the planet is euclidea, if euclidea is taken out of the room, the room is now empty. You can go in and out of the room. But if there are multiple planets in the room, the room won't be empty. So Ford could easily slip into the other planet there, but why couldn't Bill?! THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!!! is Bill banned? Is Bill restricted? What is it?! What else could it be ?! DID FORD TRAVEL TIME?!
I know @boiling-with-rage said this in my last rant: "... YOUR UNDERDEVELOPED MINDS CONSIDER THE “SECOND DIMENSION” REFERS TO THE DIMENSIONS OF PHYSICAL EXISTENCE, NOT A LITERAL PLACE YOU CAN GO TO. EUCLIDEA IS JUST ANOTHER INTERDIMENSIONAL MOCKERY OF MY GLORIOUS HOME WORLD...." Just means it's multiple dimensions. And if you can't go to it, then how did Ford? Physical existence is a verb that refers to a noun. The noun being "dimension". Dimension is the room. the planetary system, or , realm (like euclidea is by dictionary definition) would be the noun that should be referred to. I state my case, Ford went to , or a place resembling, euclidea. And I need to know how before my brain kills me.

Reminds me of the Short Film “Flatland” by Johnson and Travis, which literally has a 2D shape going through various dimensions (1D, 3D, 0D).
Tumblr media
Apparently this Short Film is based on the 1884 novella by Abbott Abbott called, “Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions.”
I wonder if this piece inspired Bill Cipher and his home 🤔

But imagine if Bill was lying about that because he hates Stan so much and he wishes this happened.
I’m not saying it couldn't have, but knowing Bill he’s very likely to make that sort of thing up. And also Fil wasn’t originally supposed to be as hated as he was by the fandom, so there’s that.
What did Ma Pines say about it? She usually sticks up for Stanley so why not this time? Did Filbrick do something to her to get her to concede, or was she indifferent?
IDK something about “only Ma and a tax collector showed up to his funeral” sounds suspect too. Where was Shermie? IDK if he was the baby in the flashback, but he would have been older even if he was.
Bill is a known liar and vehement Stan Pines hater. Just a thought.

So this guy Steve survived Euclidea's explosion and made sure to forever be in Bill's business.
Bill can't bring himself to obliterate him, because he's literally all that's left of his home and it's his fault Steve has no one else and nowhere to go.
He can't bring himself to kill the very last Euclidean no matter how anoying he is

and another thing i really like about bill is just how truly horrific his life on euclidea must have been. not for the social isolation and bullying and medical abuse, but for the cosmic horror of it.
imagine spending your entire life lying on your back, pinned to the earth below you, and knowing that that is your position. everyone else around you believes their world is whole and complete and perfect but you know. you know there is an Up, you can conceptualize a Below, you can understand an Around. and because there are parts of reality those around you cannot see you become keenly aware that there are parts of reality you cannot see.
you know there could be horrors lurking just outside your visual field, things that can see you but you can't see back. just like the lights that are Up shine down on you but no one can see their light. how terrifying, not knowing what threats may lurk and being aware of that ignorance.
i was thinking about it it yesterday and it struck me as very gerald's game in a way, trapped in one position and know there is More but unable to access it, and how the mind erodes due to the what ifs.
i've always thought of the euclidean massacre as starting with bill acting in self-defense, finally backed too far into a corner, his final stand, he will be abused this far no further.
but what if he wasn't lying when he said he liberated them. what if the what ifs became too big and he snapped, realized he couldn't let his people keep living as sitting ducks in ignorant bliss.
what if bill saw something that terrified him.
we know from journal 3 what its like when 3d beings interact with the 2d world. what if bill saw something he really by all accounts shouldn't have.
i don't know. just the thought of being stuck on my back and seeing the vastness of the room and the world around me and imaging both the beauty and the horrors beyond that is enough to make me shudder. i think it's fun

I have a theory. It's a lot of speculation, but an interesting thought:
Euclidea was a hivemind. Or, at least part of it.
Tumblr media
This is my main "evidence." The line "One of the few conciousnesses" and referring to the lonely humans as "you" somewhat implies that he himself is or was part of a hivemind consciousness. Like, for example, a fungal spore network.
Tumblr media
With what we know of Euclidea (strict adherence to rules, valuing uniformity, fearing non-uniformity), it wouldn't be a surprise.
What constitutes as a "hivemind" here is vague, and if it is the case with Euclidea, it doesn't mean that all of the Euclideans were the same person with the same shared knowledge.
It may be more of an extrasensory connectedness, uniform patterns of thought, a general understanding of what others are experiencing/feeling, physically or mentally. This aligns with some of Bills powers: reading minds, possessing multiple corpses all using his own voice, seeing through many eyes (not necessarily simultaneously, but as "peepholes")
Tumblr media
If we follow this idea, it makes the Euclideans seem less like fascists and more like people looking out for their community. So averse to a reality-breaking mutation because it posed a threat to the minds of anyone connected to bill.
Maybe, rather than forcing baby bill to be medicated just to make him normal, his parents were doing what they thought was best not just for their child, but for their people.
Tumblr media
(^ I'll admit some of these screenshots are more "thematic" than "evidence")
Maybe it was so easy for Bill to destroy his whole dimension much by accident because all he had to do was stop taking his meds, and let this mutation which nobody else was physiologically able to handle into the minds of those people.
He felt so stifled that he made the conscious decision to endanger people; it wasn't fully an accident, nor was it fully violent in intent. But his choices directly resulted in the massacre.
All this to say, this concept is mostly just more fuel for angst. Bill not only destroyed friends and family, but pieces of himself. His blue flames and red anger aren't just influences or genetics from his parents, because his parents weren't just parents; They were pieces of himself.
He was alone in the universe, but it was worse than that. He was alone, truly alone with his thoughts, without knowing how to even process what "his" thoughts were, or what "alone" really meant.
He blacks out when he recalls the day he tried to fuse everyone into his own individual perspective, because the memories missing are the memories of countless dying people.
He's an idea. Not a soul, not a conciousness, because the soul was shared among his whole race of people.
Maybe this could be why he's so desperate for attention, belonging, friends, and family: He's desperately trying to fill in the gaps of his own consciousness.
And, it could explain why he's so, so very bad at it: Because he can't conceptualize the desires of individuals. They should all want what he wants, think like he does, that's how it's supposed to be when you love someone!
Your family is an extension of yourself, so why wouldn't they want to make you happy? If you're happy, everyone is happy!
Tumblr media
He's a handful of selfish thoughts that persisted after the soul they belonged to was destroyed.
Now don't come at me with your conspiracy pants on and tell me how little evidence I have and how unsubstantiated and speculative all this is, I KNOOOWW but I'm having fun and playiiingg!!

I C R A V E more gbc au stuff: particularly with Bill: were the twins aware of Bill before gravity falls? what do they tell the twins about bill once they get there? how does bill and his parents even go about reconnecting?? I want to know more about the direct aftermath of the reunion. It's not hard to piece together Bill and Fords relationship from the journals: did they read into it the wrong direction or smth? Like Bill fucking traumatized Ford: Euclid and Scalene's estranged long lost son fucking severly traumatized and manipulated a realtive of their adoptive kids: there's gotta be more complex feelings there? Does Bill blame them for his medical trauma? do Scalene and Euclid regret that? did they have differing opinions on it back when? also like, now Bill is legit insane: what with him having been percieved insane or a ticking time bomb of insanity before how do they feel about that? do they have differeing opinions?????
FNSKJDFNSDKJ DSI C R A V E MORE FERERJSNJKFDNFKE
PLEASE FEED MEEEEE
Ask and ye shall r e c e i v e
Both Scalene and Euclid were under the impression that Bill died when Euclidea inevitably collapsed in on itself. They told Dipper and Mabel that they had a child, but never went into much detail, as it hurt too much to talk about.
(You can imagine how fucking gutted they were when they saw images of him all around the Shack. Journal 3 was just a big fat gob of salt in their open wounds)
Tumblr media
Reconnecting for them is like a healing an infected wound: you have to cut out the rot, grit your teeth for the burn of cleaning it out, work to keep the infection away, and accept the fact that there will be a scar.
Bill is so fundamentally broken and mentally unwell that not even the Axolotl can really fix him. The best he can do is help Bill get to a point where he can begin again in a different form. But getting to that point is the real trouble. It's rotten work, a path laden with pain and suffering and hurt feelings, but it's the only option worth fighting for.
Scalene and Euclid feel immense guilt for the mistakes they made raising Bill. They allowed themselves to be pressured into trying to make their gifted son normal, and everyone they ever loved and then some ended up paying the price. Bill may have started the fire, but their misguided good intentions handed him the match.
Bill himself is a whirlwind of emotions. He is unexplainably relieved that his parents are alive, but that also means that he can no longer possess a false bravado and pretend he intentionally slaughtered his entire dimension. His past is red and blue and in his face, and the voices have only gotten louder since he saw his mother's heartbroken face. Not only that, but they have, in his eye, replaced him with two of the people destined to destroy him! They look at Shooting Star and Pinetree with all the fondness they used to look at him with, and it makes his insides burn.
They also are constantly setting off each other's triggers, like some kind of sick oroborus of trauma. Bill's powers often manifest as pyrokinesis, which isn't great when your parents are still living with the horrific injuries caused by said fire. On the other side of the coin, Euclid has been soothing the twins with gentle TV static since they were little, since his preferred method of manifestation is screen-based technology, (whereas Scalene prefers music and books) which has caused Bill to spiral into a violent panic attack more than once.
As for Ford... well, neither Cipher parent is fond of him, as i've stated, but while they don't know the entire story of how his and Bill's time together was, they know enough to know that it ended in violence and misery, and they are not so heartless that they do not feel pity for the man and disgust towards their son's actions. They make it very clear to their eldest, when they can stand to speak to each other, that he is to never possess another member of the Pines family.
He only breaks that promise once, though it was for a good reason. Gideon needed a good beat down, and Pine Tree was too hurt to make that jump without help.
