at the moment, it's the lack of patience some people seem to have. if someone doesn't follow back immediately, they unfollow. if you don't engage right away after becoming mutuals, it's a "lack of interest". like.... is it so hard to just.... wait-

some of us are very busy, some of us have shit going on, many of us are very open about how slow we are. just.... have some gd patience people

b.aizhu. 100% b.aizhu. we're chronic illness buddies. to a similar extent, blade, bc i too live with constant suffering and can't always trust my own mind-

i relate to quite a lot of my muses in some way, but given my current mood, those two are up there rn

the literal middle of the night. i've always been the most productive at night & it's when i can focus the most

i mean i don't write ocs (not in an rp setting anyway, i do have ocs in the setting of actual novels) so.... canon characters- SDLKJBGDFL

although, i do like taking minor characters / npcs with very little in canon, so i can build and expand on them with my own ideas (see: vautrin)

Howdy lads. Apologies for not being as active recently. Been on BSKY and in a Very Active WoW guild. And Work.

ANYWAY. I've wanted to do my own little thing for GL S2. Yes the actual one we got. Just my little mini analysis of it, if you could call it that.

This post talks about all of the characters and what I liked/disliked from them this season. It will be under the cut. It will be long. It will be every character. Enjoy if you decide to read <3.

Let's start off with our main besties. Our main kiddos

Chase: Okay. I will say I didn't hate. A LOT of what he did in season 2. Also kinda feel he shouldn't have had his big sacrifice from s1 (giving up his physical body) be fixed just like that yeah idk. It CAN happen but that was waaay too short a time.

Now, this is all based on the last time I actively watched all of season 2, which was technically the first time. And the last. There's probably scenes with him that I really hate but straight up don't remember.

Yaz: What did you even do this season. We got your backstory (which was retconned from freaking s1) and then I feel like you didn't get to do anything. But be sad. I'd be sad too. You deserve so much better, as does literally everyone else on the freaking character list.

Also your backstory was Fine. If it didn't retcon season one, it would've been aight.

Kazu: Well! At least you died! Didn't have to deal with the Everything that Happened after your death.

Why were they doing you like that. They took your confusion, but willingness to learn and not judge from s1, and turned it to *gestures* that. It could've been INTERESTING. it was not.

Cammie: Well, let's just be grateful that they didn't do anything worse since she was technically 18 with the time skip!

Would've loved to see you repurpose the Union's tech but ok. Ig suicide and become nano. IDK.

Btw did Nugget ever come back. I don't think he did.

Val: You and Chase are the least messed up team members. I don't remember many of your scenes, unfortunately. But you were pretty cool from what little I do. I wish they hadn't messed up your promo material??? I mean,,,

Migas: Listen you were pretty sick. I love u always Miguel Garza. Mr. Go With The Flow. Um. Your arm went with the flow, literally, but uh. You know what I mean. Not too much else to say about you. wish you did more tho.

Leon: Mr. Not living longer than five minutes into the season.

Man they could've just gotten you a new VA. YOU COULD'VE BEEN THE SECOND GHOST IN THE MACHINE GRRR.

Jodie: Wow! I think the only times you really showed up this seasson is during the Scene (TM) and your brutal other the Scene (TM, Death Edition).

Listen. It's not like GL hasn't had brutal violent deaths before.

In S1, the Spy's brain gets fried. We see this on screen. We are shown different reactions, from horrified to 'glad that's over'. It actually you know sets the stage. And you know. *Gestures at Chase and the rest of his team*.

Not Miranda randomly deciding to fire on (? I don't remember the context) both Polity and Nemesis Units (That was probably the context) alike, killing Jodie in the process because MARIN TELLS HER TO.

MARIN WOULD NEVER. BARK BARK.

Also Miranda would never but obv.

Jodie literally wasn't a bad character. He just didn't get to do ANYTHING.

Miranda: *Holds her gently* Okay. Not entirely. Bad. They still hurt you Bad. Not as bad as Marin. But Bad.

I did like the scenes of her and Dri tho :) What little I remember.

As I said with Jodie, *Gestures* and you know.

Marin: Her character was assassinated the most out of every other character. SURE. I'LL BELIEVE THAT MISS "You're making soldiers out of these children!" Would immediately stoop to these incredible lows. That directly affects said children.

I will never not be mad I love you forever Colonel. You'd have to turned against the Polity if it would've helped the GL team

Jha: *twirls hair* I like what they were TRYING to do with her actually. They failed. But at least she gets to live lol.

IDK I feel like she would've tried to dismantle them (both sides) from the inside out bc she hates them both. IDK IDK.

All I'm saying is if we thought that Weller was a father before, then what about Jha? More reasoning into why they separated? Besides the obvious but u know.

I have more to say about her but idk . Thank u for not dying queen.

Weller: Hiiii. What the heck was Omega Protocol FOR? I wanted you to do more morally gray (is that the word for it) actions. Would've been cool is something kicked in the protocol and it ended up saving Kazu's life. "You were supposed to protect us." Blah blah blah. Or whatever Chase said.

DO find that him knowing the Polity started the war interesting. Would've been made even MORE interesting if we learned he was using the Polity for his own personal gain.

I like the Polity not being exactly the good guys. And I like the Union also being the bad guys.

Should've freaked out when Cammie 'ascended' imo. I mean. IDK. Or you know. When Kazu DIED.

Caliban: They could never make me hate u Caliban. I do wonder why your inner you was a child though. I sure wish we got more of you being you. Boy howdy can't wait to explore how all of Weller's grief in his past absolutely went into how he created Caliban. And how Caliban has all his memories, but chooses to block out the ones that he deems unimportant, both good and bad. Like a Cammie choosing not to delete her memories of her head being ripped off, but instead of deleting them, Caliban just absolutely shuts them off unless he determines that they hold some kind of use.

Idk, they should've done more with you, Mr. Omega Protocol.

Dri: HIIII DRI. IM SO GLAD YOU LIVED. UNLIKE OTHER PEOPLE.

I don't have much to say. I can't wait to see what Actual Season 2 Of Gen:Lock does with you.

Same goes with their mother, I wanted to see more of Mrs. Chase :)

WHY DID THEY EXPLODE AFTER COMPLETING A MISSION WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THAT. THE TEAM WOULDVE FOUND OUT ABOUT THEM ANYWAY.

Sinclair: I said every character, but I don't remember the very minor side characters that were with Sinclair (wasn't Dri with him at one point Or am I misremembering)

I would've liked a more 'Oh yeah, the consequences of war kinda suck, I've been seperated from the team I was supposed to be with for the past year, and now that we've finally met back up, I am a completely different person and I don't know if I can exactly fit in with everything I've been through now' Wouldve been NICE.

They go infiltrate a Union base and find Sinclair liberating prisoners. They recognize Sinclair, because the Spy copied him Perfectly in looks.

Why. Why Did they do all that with him,,

I forget did he actually get to do anything afterwards. Does he even actually share any words with the GL Team.

taking a look at my activity and i noticed that someone liked a post i had made a while back about reading the Symphony of Ages series by Elizabeth Haydon. and i thought i should probably add to that post, because i did finally get my hands on the last three books. and oh boy let me tell you...

i hated how that series ended! absolutely hated it.

like, yes, okay, i get it. they are effectively immortal characters. unless they are killed outright (and not even then) they were going to live forever. and they were not species who were supposed to even live exceptionally long. except for ashe (but only by taking on a completely different form).

but what she did to grunthor? that was horrible.

and i don't mean just the nature of his death, or why he died. the stories never shied away from those kind of things. but it was the way it was address on page. on one hand, i hated it. that was never the way it should have happened (not to him, not to anyone honestly). but on the other hand, it was a very good representation of the diminishment of heroes from one generation down to the next and the next and the next...

i am very glad that his actual death wasn't show on the page. but the description of what they did to him, how they probably tortured him in order to kill him. and then the desecration of his body after? even grunthor would pick the bear, i think.

rhapsody's visceral grief, horror, and rage was very real. it was exactly how you would expect her to react. a woman who survived prostitution as a child, and the terrible sadism of possessive, obsessive narcissist? learning that one of her oldest friends, her very first protector, had been so savagely murdered and his remains so abused... all because of a misunderstood and off hand comment her husband made? oh yeah, i would be seeking the title of "widow" before "divorcee" as well.

fine, that also gave ashe what he wanted. gave him his moment for transformation (and thus condemned him, too, to a solely earthly existence. burning away what was human in him and any chance at moving to an afterlife). his execution satisfied the firblog. the fact that their First Woman, their king's assumed consort even after she married ashe, was the one to dispense that justice was right in their eyes.

but after that... after losing grunthor and then ashe... and her children not yet ready to hear or listen to what had actually happened... she was given, what? a few days? just a few days to go "yep, nope, this is it for me"? and to turn to achmed and ask him to do it for her? after he had lost his oldest friend and ally, here was his second oldest friend, the woman he had been in love with for millennia (who knew he was in love with her, and was also in love with him - just not from the stupidity of childhood)...

he would have given her the world. waited any amount of time she needed. been supportive (tho possibly distant at times, because yeah sometimes he had healthy boundaries, sometimes none of them did) of her through her grief. but no... we can't have nice things. so out comes some re-written scrap of prophecy from an undone timeline to kill her instead.

and then achmed's story! omg! they undid every bit of growth and development for him! literally sent him all the way back to the very beginning of his journey both mentally, physically, and developmentally! he was sent on a suicidal self imposed mission! he left his new born baby behind! (if rhapsody hadn't died, she'd have killed him just for doing that!).

and opening that real but metaphysical door at the underside of the world to drain the ocean into the hallows of the earth? bullshit. bullshit bullshit bullshit.

i have more i could say. a lot more i should say. but i just don't have the mental energy for it. and honestly, i haven't re-read the last book in a little while. i am still so fucking mad about it. fuck her for destroying the characters we loved because she was bored and probably under contract to finish the series.

re: ur tags about mcrs apoliticism too, like even w leathermouth as a (pretty weak) outlier, there's that one interview frank did w ljg where they both got to answer what drew them in to punk she goes on to talk about politics and he explicitly says (like he's been saying forever) that to him it's always been about the diy ethos more than any kind of activism. like it's okay, there's plenty other political bands, people trying to paint mcr or frank projects as inherently political to any meaningful extent def feels like setting themselves up for disappointment. the way i personally see it the most "radically political" thing they did was probably just be openly supportive of their largely queer/female fanbase, groundbreaking enough for the time and the scene

ya totally, that's a really good point. the diy ethos is the foundation of personal ideology for a lot of people in frank's general social circle - and that conviction is something i really admire in frank and a lot of diy values do align closely with political leftism, but it's a mistake to assume someone like frank is coming from a strong political background. like in the end the new jersey hardcore community (especially the localised scene in new brunswick, which mcr were just on the fringe of) was largely made up of college-educated white men who probably hadn't had much reason to closely examine their political opinions and class consciousness beyond a surface level. you hear it a lot from the kind of podcast hosts who interview frank, geoff rickly etc. (some of them will occasionally seem slightly taken aback by geoff's more overt class politics because yeah, their opinions are more rooted in their experiences with diy communities than activist ones, tho there's some overlap).

and like i kind of touched on in my tags earlier, yes leathermouth is definitely more political than mcr, and the lyrics of kill the president are great and all, but i find it a little misguided to overly praise them for that when they're on the same album as songs about murdering prostitutes or shooting up a school told from the perspective of the perpetrators adjgkaljg. it's possible i'm not giving him enough credit but i feel like the anarchism in leathermouth, while rooted in genuine dissatisfaction with bush's policies etc, is more aesthetic than it is purposeful. i know there's legal issues surrounding it but frank hasn't really said anything particularly meaningful about that song to my knowledge. again, not a criticism of frank! just of the discussion around his (and mcr's) music that often gives them all too much credit. i also mentioned how rtl has some of the only overtly political lyrics from an mcr member in that they address police brutality, racism etc., but not in any radical way whatsoever. and ray himself said that politics weren't something he was particularly conscious of/attentive to until his kids were born and he started thinking about the world he wanted them to grow up in and how he wanted them to contribute to it. like...the sooner we all accept mcr are all just ex-working/middle-class liberals who came into wealth a couple of decades ago now and are generally decently progessive people but not political activists the better sjfkljsjfl

here is my headcanon for how marauders era girls spent their valentines day in their 6th year!

they started the day of with waking up at 04.00 am each of them had planned something to do during the day and Lily and Alice weren't dating anyone (yet), so they were really excited for the idea of spending the day together. Marlene and Dorcas were dating eachother and had been since the begining of their 3rd year at hogwarts but they were perfectly fine with spending their valentines day with Lily and Alice. They were happy to have a change this year.

Dorcas had planned the first activity they woke up, got ready and headed out their dorm quietly. They quickly got into Dorcas's car and drove to a beautiful flower field next to a old train track. Dorcas brought out some food a big cloth and layed it down

they all sat down and unpacked their food for a unforgettable picnic, they ate their breakfast peacefully while listening to their favorite playlist that they had made together with all the songs that reminded them of how much they should cherish their teen years

they all listened to the song Marlene resting her head on Dorcas's shoulder while everyone cuddling

after finishing up with their picnic they get back into the car blasting music, Lily drooping from the window

they arive to their next location again picked by Dorcas a beautiful lakeside. They were the only people there so they change into their bathing suits and jump into the water splashing and throwing eachother, piggy back riding and trying to push eacother of as they do so.

After splashing eachother for hours they get out and lay down at the fallen tree trunks while blasting the song tounge tied.

Not so long later Marlene drags everyone out and they all dance while singing the lyric

As the song finished the four girls got up and made their way to the car for their next destination

as they were pretty tired they all slept in the car well.. except Dorcas, even tho she said she was fine Lily did make her change positions half way the trip so she could also get some rest

Their next destination was picked by alice, she had suggested to go to the candy factory down town after a hour of driving they made it there it was a big, very big factory with a every single type of candy you could imagine Marlene and Dorcas sprinted their way into the candy jewlery making area and started making evrery single type of candy they saw

Eventually they sad down after hours of runing around and grabbing candy (including being screamed at by five diffrent employes) and started making bracelets while Lily and Alice walked around admiring every single candy piece they saw.

After spending a good 2 hours they bought around 10 bags of candy and headed out the store recieving many bad looks from the employes there.

It was time for the second place Alice had picked she only told Lily cause she was the one driving and they had become super close lately she would rant to Lily about her boy troubles and not so suprisingly Lily was a very good listener.

25 minutes later they arrived standing right in front of the animal shelter that they were about to enter

Alice had talked to the owners and decided to volunteer together to the shelter. They all immedietly ran inside and were greeted my hundereds of dogs,cats you name it. They all started petting and feeding every single one of them and chatted with the owners a little learning about each animals past life. Some of them were abondened cause the owners didnt like them, others were abused by previos owners but now they were here, they were safe. They all decided after graduating they would buy their house that they will live together with and come adopt animals here. With that they exsited the shelter and made their way to the next location.

By this time they started getting hungry even tho they had eaten many many candys this was perfect on Lily's part cause her plan was to take the girls to a cafe.

Yes it sounded lame but this cafe was diffrent it was a flower shop and a place where people could go write some poetry and display them on the walls. She went there a lot when she wanted to clear her mind from things and it usually helped. After driving for a good 45 minutes they made it there, they got changed into some clean clothes and went in.

As they entered the smell of fresh baker bread and pastry filled their nose, the walls were filled with old looking papers with diffrent handwriting notes.They quickly sat down ordered some food that came with a piece of old looking sailor paper which they knew was for the poetry

They all ate their food while writing in silence, it was a comfortable silence with the sound of classical music filling their ear. Lily finished hers she got up and hang hers up next to many other works the rest of them did the same and they walked over to the flower section, they were astonished by the selection of diffrent flowers as they looked around They each got bouqets with their favorite flowers paid for them and left the store.

Lily's next stop was about a hour away if they walked so they decided to park the car and walk admiring the beautiful architecture around them they chatted and the hour didnt even seem that long since they didnt even realise they were at the next stop.

They were at a art museum, it was such a Lily place to go to but they didnt mind as they entered and tried not to get kicked out for being loud Lily gave them lectures on all the artwork and statues around them, Lily loved learning about all there things, it made her feel something and everytime she researched about these for hours flipping through pages of old books in a old library for hours made her feel at home. She talked and gave lectures about the history behind every piece and the girls couldn't help but just become so proud of her. They spent hours and hours there and before leaving they look a couple pictures of eachother.

It was getting later and by the time they got to the car it was already 5pm now marlenes request was perfect for the time they first drove back to their school to get to their dorms they each took a quick shower and changed into some aestehtic but comfortable clothes. Marlene's first request was pretty basic she had rented four bikes and suprised the girls.They quickly went down the streets and headed to Marlene's bigger plan but had a lot of fun while teasing eachother trying to get eachother to fall while trying not to get run over cars,

During the way Lily had opened her favorite playlist and was blasting some songs

The sun was about to set at this point and they had arrived at the last location. There was a huge carnaval standing right in front of them. They quickly dropped their bikes of at the place Marlene had bought them and headed to the carnaval. They were all hungry at this point because they hadn't eaten anything since their lunch at the poetry cafe so they ate hot dogs and bought candy apples,cotton candy alongside eating the food they had gotten from the candy factory.

They spent hours going in diffrent rides marlene and Dorcas going on all the couples rides whole Lily and Alice played the games that are just impossible to beat but managed to get some teddy bears for eachother. They went on many rollercoasters even tho Lily and Alice weren't really willing to but did it for Marlene and Dorcas.

After going on all of the fun rides like spinning teacups, the death drop and one of their favorites the Ferris wheel since the view was insanely beautiful they decided to head back to their dorm it was 1.00 am at this point but they didnt care they ran like maniacs in the middle of the road while singing at the top of their lungs cause they know they aren't going to be teenagers forever and they might not even live through another year

hi hi hi🩵💗 I had a really good week actually! I hadn't been on my phone much bc I actually moved to a new flat!! Aside from that though, I totally agree that our minds work similarly bc I pretty much agree with anything u say haha😭💗 AND NOW DID YOU JUST SAY THAT MAYBE YOU'LL WEAVE SOME OF THE TROPE INTO OTDE?!?!?!?! I AM SCREAMING. i literally live for this trope and otde omfg I'm unwell. I feel like it really fits them, not only bc they are so emotionally tied but also bc I also the love that evolves from hate (well it's always there but i hope you know what i mean😭) is really strong and pretty much consuming, since both hate and love are really strong emotions, so them combined is a heavenly disaster and makes the relationship in result pretty much disastrous (in a good way tho)!

I would also like to say that you write the tension between lix and mc so well — it's so real and never seems forced.

BUT YES THE MOODBOARD IS VERY MUCH IN PROGRESS, IN FACT IT'S ALMOST FINISHED!!! for now, I decided to portray their relationship/the overall feel of the series rather than them as specific characters (or specifics of the story BC IT WOULD BE SO LONG AHAGWH) and I totally agree that the two colours could definitely fit our two mains, though I would say that Felix in otde is pretty much dark red coded and mc green but a vibrant one (but I also feel like a dark green or forest green could fit really well ANJW IDK??!?!) if that makes sense? I might look into some specific shades and then see🤔 (also, why do i feel like Vans just for some reason fit otde...)
