W.O.W. Joy

Ho incontrato Joy durante il mio scambio-lavoro a Bali, in Villa AmanGiri. Siamo stati insieme quasi un lungo mese, Joy - il suo ragazzo Ran ed Io. Conservo un ricordo bellissimo di loro e davvero posso poter dire di aver conosciuto dei meravigliosi esseri umani.

Rispettosi, allegri e riservati, scherzoni. Un sorriso sempre pronto. Mi mancano molto ma so che li rivedrò presto. Intanto vi lascio l’esperienza di Joy

JOY, 24 // Macrame Maker W.O.W. Kids I volunteered in a farm, in the village of Tadian in northern Philippines. The farm employs people from the village but they invite volunteers to experience the farm life. As volunteers we help with harvesting, weeding, planting, and mulching. The farm and the village has great atmosphere and the people are very friendly.  I could never forget the smiles on everyone’s faces especially the kids!

Why is technology now being applied to these problems?A lot of cryptography was developed in the 8-0s and 90s but did not make their way into public consciousnessBitcoin managed to being them to libertarians and open software developersIt was a form of uncontrollable peer to peer moneyThis got people thinking about bigger implicationsThis brought people to deeper technologies and looked for way to recombine fields of research that had never been applied to the real worldThe real value is less in blockchain, it is the large volume of young people who want to change the worldThe most important objective is to have a vision of where we want to go and to use these pieces to get there

So where do we want to go?The most important problem is increasing public participationReconstructing the moral fabric of society.

Ebbene Si. Mi hanno mandato la prima W.O.W. Experience per il progetto della mia tesi e sono molto molto felice di coinvolgere persone che, come me, credono nel volunteering, nello scambio-lavoro come strumento per affacciarsi all’economia delle relazioni. Vi presento quindi:

Exeperience | Ho trascorso 15 giorni in un B&B nel centro della città di Cordoba, in Andalusia. Ho avuto l'opportunità di evadere dalle routine e consuetudini del mio tipo di lavoro per riscoprire in questo grazioso b&b il calore delle relazioni umane nell'incontro di tanti tipi diversi di persone provenienti da ogni angolo d'Europa. Non ci si stanca mai di conoscere nuove persone.

Assieme alle persone che si incontrano facendo scambio-lavoro si condividono tempo, lavoro e conoscenza. Si vivono esperienze umane che costruiscono il nostro rapporto. Una relazione è dinamica, mai statica, sempre in evoluzione. Le relazioni sono costruite dalle persone intorno ad idee, visioni e anche luoghi. “Relazioni” e “luoghi” sono connessi da un nuovo modo di stare al mondo, da una naturale propensione alla cooperazione, aumentata dalla tecnologia, che sta cambiando le cose intorno a noi. In questo processo la tecnologia stessa sta mutando. Ed è per questo che l’innovazione è sempre sociale, perché mutano le regole, nascono parole e significati, cambiano i comportamenti, le decisioni e le prospettive.

A Bali gli helpers che con me lavoravano in Villa AmanGiri ridevano sempre quando dicevo WOW!

E lo dicevo spesso.

Dicevo WOW perché avevo imparato a tagliare il bamboo senza spaccarmi le mani; dicevo WOW perché Bella - la mia chicken preferita - ci faceva le uova fresche proprio prima di pranzo; dicevo WOW quando zappavo e trovavo vermi colorati sotto la terra; dicevo WOW quando mi svegliavo all’alba per dare da mangiare alle galline e da lontano si sentivano le preghiere musulmane che, con il loro solito potere ipnotico, mi tenevano ferma li, davanti al sole, a ringraziare il primo colore del giorno; dicevo WOW quando l’americano vero americano mi ha confessato che il mio inglese stava migliorando; dicevo WOW quando con Teresa siamo salite su un albero di Papaya per farci un bel frullato di prima mattina; dicevo WOW quando ho visto un prato pulito dopo un’intensa sezione di weeding sotto il sole di 12am; dicevo WOW quando Joye per merenda mi ha portato una banana bollita con la buccia (e con il caramello sopra, che buona!); dicevo WOW quando ci siamo persi e ritrovati senza telefoni o internet; dicevo WOW quando Kelly - la nostra host - ci ha fatto organizzare un pranzo tutti assieme in piscina; dicevo WOW quando abbiamo fatto la pizza, e l’ho pure scritto sulla pizza; dicevo WOW perché per me era veramente tutto WOW.

Ma la cosa più WOW di tutte erano, sono e saranno le relazioni: con la terra, con il sole, con le galline, con le persone, le relazioni son quelle connessioni che non si spiegano. Quando son belle sono WOW e basta.

Mi sembra quindi giusto che WOW diventi il leitmotiv di questa tesi. Se lo merita tutto (siamo ancora in pieno work in progress ma il WOW Effect sta arrivando davvero!!)
