Me again, a follow up question. While I know it's pretty much impossible to have a perfect transposition from greek to latin alphabet, I'm trying to have at least some kind of ruling. This said, would you transpose κ as a english "K" (harsh sound) or "c" sweet sound. Ex, Αλκιμεδων is Alkimedon or Alcimedon or whatever? Thank you

That's a great question. The truth is that the transliteration of Greek to Latin characters is terrible because even though the closest letters are chosen, these letters often have different sounds between the two alphabets. The problem is aggravated by the fact that English especially took a lot of Greek words via their Latin version and not directly and by the reliance on the popular Erasmian pronunciation which is questionable on so many levels (and ugly), to say the least.

Grasping the opportunity provided by your example, there is not a soft c in Greek at all. Never has been. The closest one by sound is σ (σίγμα) which is the equivalent of s. There is only κ (kappa) which is a harsh k. The frequent usage of c in words of Greek origin probably only means that these words have made a passing through the Latin language first.

But not just that, d is considered the equivalent of δ but the latter hasn't been pronounced as d for a couple millenias and even when it did, it was still softer than the modern d of the latin alphabet languages.

So the correct way to transliterate Αλκιμέδων to the Latin alphabet is actually Alkiméthon. The problem here is that Greek has two entirely different letters for the two ¨th¨ sounds, whereas English doesn´t. Some transliterate δ as ¨dh¨, as a solution of sorts. This would turn it into ¨Alkimédhon¨.

But because there are so many problems, there are no established rules. I believe the transliteration that should prevail now is the one that follows as accurately as possible the living pronunciation. Pre-hellenistic pronunciations are just theories after all.

So how I would transliterate is:

β as v (not b)

γ as gh (not g) before the consonants and the vowels α, ο, ω, ου and as y before the vowels ε, αι, η, ι, ει, οι, υι

δ as th or dh (not d)

η, ι, υ, ει, οι all as i

θ as th

κ as k

ξ as x or ks (not gz)

σ, ς as s or even as ss in the middle of a word because it is a little more “snaky” than the English s

φ as f or ph

χ as h or kh. Maybe that's how it should be written even before another consonant (i.e χρόνος - hrónos or khrónos as the more popular ¨chronos¨ is often mispronounced as kronos)

ψ as ps, but remember that both consonants are voiced unlike in English where the p is silent.

ω as o

αι as e since this has been the pronunciation for so long

ου as u or ou although I visually don't like the latter. Some use the oo which is not all that wrong but it looks utterly horrendous.

γγ, γκ as ng in the middle of the word, as g in the beginning or if it appears more than once in the word.

μπ as mb in the middle of the word, as b in the beginning or if it appears more than once in the word.

ντ as nd in the middle of the word, as d in the beginning or if it appears more than once in the word.

This is more or less the transliteration that lately is used for Modern Greek. Those chaotic differences are the reason a Greek woman might tell somebody her name is Thanái and they won't realise she's telling them her name is Danae. XD

Now even though this is more correct I acknoweldge that visually the inaccurate transliteration is often more aesthetically pleasing or maybe it's because we are used to it. Take as example the verb for "skin, peel" :

γδέρνω is gderno in the usual transliteration but it is ghthérno in the more accurate one. The funny thing is that ghthérno looks terribly ugly but it sounds far more delicate and pretty when spoken than the inaccurate but better looking gderno XD

It's a mess what can I say. I have sometimes received some mild criticism for retaining the latin version of Greek words i.e I write Ευρυδίκη as Eurydice instead of the more accurate Evrithiki. Just for visual aesthetics. Honestly Evrithíki sounds nice when you say it but it looks so ugly in latin characters ffs I am so sad about this XD.

The latest example is that I wrote "Andronicus Palaeologus" even though I should have written "Anthronikos Paleologhos". And yet I believe that the latter sounds better than the former. Still, even if it's visually better, Idk, I think we should opt for accuracy especially in more "official", serious circumstances. Unless it looks much uglier and pronunciation doesn't matter in a certain situation so in this case we can show some understanding :P

"Time offers up curve balls, moments things change"

No sooner have I asked the movie director Oliver Stone and the history professor Peter Kuznick about criticism of their book and TV series The Untold History of the United States than Stone is shaking his head, tutting grandly and instructing Kuznick to “show him, show him”. Kuznick proffers, with a flourish, a full page of plaudits, including one that makes them beam most: “There is much here to reflect upon” (Mikhail Gorbachev).

Both book and TV series — the latter called Oliver Stone’s Untold History of the United States — analyse “what America has done wrong, in the hope it can change”, says Stone, director of Platoon and JFK, in his husky voice, a vivid red scarf wrapped around his neck.

Two years ago Stone, a magnet for controversy, apologised after claiming a “Jewish-dominated media” focused on the Holocaust. Now he’s condemning the rapacious “empire building” of the US, which has warmongered for power and profit, and — in the cause of American exceptionalism — negated its potential as a force for good. “What is untold for me — and I was born after the atomic bomb was dropped, the Cold War was my youth — was the truth that the Russians were the main victors of World War Two and paid the highest price.”

Stone means the 27 million dead that the pair attribute to the war, although one critic claimed that between one and five million could be attributed to Stalin’s brutality. Stone and Kuznick claim that Truman was an aggressor and the Japa- nese were about to surrender before the US dropped the Bomb. “The US did that as a strong, barbaric statement to the Russians,” says Stone. “‘You can’t fuck with the United States. We control the world and kill people.’ ” His eyes glitter, the swaggering Stone replaces sober tutor: “That’s just the f*ing first three episodes!”

In the week of the tenth anniversary of the start of the Iraq war, Stone is strong in his condemnation: “It’s been a tremendous setback for our country, a national trauma. Obama has continued the lie that this is American military service abroad without any selfish motive, that it has everything to do with 9/11.”

What was Iraq about, for Stone? “God knows,” he laughs. “It was a plan definitely with its eyes on the prize, beginning with [former Vice-President Dick] Cheney’s on Iraq’s oil and gas reserves.” Iraq represented “a very dangerous continuation of the neocon plan to penetrate the Middle East”.

In their most contentious chapter, Stone and Kuznick say that had the left-wing Henry Wallace, Vice-President under Roosevelt, become President rather than Truman, “the Cold War, Vietnam, arms race, Iraq and Afghanistan” may not have un- folded; the book sweeps through Reagan’s consolidation of the US military-industrial complex and Obama’s failure to keep his promise to “change” America. “Obama’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing,” Stone says.

He and Kuznick may have received praise from Gorbachev and many others, but their revisionism has also been criti- cised. The biggest firestorm has been played out on the pages of The New York Review of Books. The historian Sean Wil- entz accused them, in a lacerating review, of distorting history and the actions of Truman,Wallace and others, and “cherry-picking” sources. In response, Stone and Kuznick said Wilentz’s review was “error-riddled”. Wilentz then blasted their “disgraceful” version of history.

Have they made errors? “There are some mistakes but nothing major,” Stone claims. “We could have spent more time attacking Stalin,” concedes Kuznick. “There are no limits to the bad things you could say about Stalin,” Stone growls. “He destroyed the true leftist communist movement in the Twenties and Thirties, forever. But I went to Russia in the Eighties. They loved Stalin, he was their wartime leader.” Stone praises Stalin’s “coolness” in his dealings with the West. “There are libraries full of books that talk about his brutality,” says Kuznick. “We didn’t feel that was a story we needed to tell.” Stone: “Ask the average American who won World War Two and they’ll say ‘We did’. But the Soviet struggle and sacrifice was far greater.” Kuznick identifies the “mythic understanding of our past” at the root of American exceptionalism: “The cavalry riding in . . . that we’re God’s gift to humanity. It’s fanciful and destructive.”

Was America ever the good guy? “In World War Two,” says Stone. Kuznick: “The Marshall Plan was a positive way of us relating to the world, rebuilding it. If America had reached out to the world we could have helped carve out a different world. We’ve had that opportunity time and time again.” For Stone, the greatest US presidents that never were include Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy (had they not been shot) and George McGovern.

“Something was wrong” in the history Stone imbibed as a child. “Up until the late 1970s I never questioned the Bomb.” While his father, a Republican, hated Truman’s labour policies, “I was born and raised in an age of conformity, we walked around in jackets and ties. I was more scared than rebel, growing up in a climate of fear of bomb tests and Russians taking over our country.” Stone’s analyses, and sometimes audacious revisions of history, are intrinsic to his movies, most controversially in JFK, which posited a conspiracy theory around President Kennedy’s assassination.

Platoon was based on his experiences as an infantry soldier in Vietnam, the experience of which was “an eye-opener, but not radically so. I didn’t come back and become an antiwar protester like Ron Kovic [the subject of Stone’s Oscar-winning Born on the Fourth of July]. I went between left and right. When I went to El Salvador in 1985 [to research his movie Salvador] I saw how the death squads and paramilitaries were linked to the US. I felt the same anger I felt about the confluence of shady ‘contractors’, military and terror we brought to Vietnam. You could tell you were tearing wounds into a country. It was horrible, frightening. But you couldn’t see the whole until you pulled back. In Platoon, when you see them shooting at the feet of the Vietnamese in frustration, that’s true. You saw rape and killing. We used semi-automatics . . . you’re a monster, you’re as powerful as Hitler when you have that thing in your hand.” Stone (“of course”) thinks there should be greater gun control in the US.

Was he traumatised by Vietnam? “Some people would claim so,” Stone says, smiling. His voice hardens. “No, I was lost. It was as if I didn’t belong. It wasn’t like World War Two, which people spoke about, it was very distressing.” He attended New York University. “I felt like that kid in Taxi Driver, that I could kill somebody.” His first wife “helped stabilise me”.

Stone voted for Obama in both elections (this time, “because I didn’t want the other guy to win”) but claims that Obama is “worse than Bush in some ways, he’s reinforced his policies”. The men aren’t excited about a President Hillary Clinton. “She’s too hawkish,” says Kuznick. “She’s into empire,” says Stone. “Nobody wants to talk about getting rid of the f***ing military.” He thinks “economic devastation” could serve some good. “It’s the only way to end an empire. If you don’t have the dough you can’t do all this shit.” But if you don’t have “the dough”, then your infrastructure crumbles, I say. Stone ignores that, and says America doesn’t need “a thousand military bases”. Obama is “a manager of em- pire, not someone willing to challenge it”.

Hollywood doesn’t embrace radicalism, he says: “I don’t think a ‘political film’ has ever had bite.” What about the Oscar-laden Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty (about the hunt for Osama bin Laden) and Argo (about the rescue of US hostages in Iran in 1979)? Lincoln was “well-written. The others were conservative, centrist. Argo didn’t investigate the reasons for the Iranian unrest. But that wasn’t even as close to offensive as Zero Dark Thirty, which didn’t take account of internal opposition within the CIA against the use of torture.” For Stone, it echoed the vigilantism celebrated in American film-making from Dirty Harry to the present day. “By the end, she [Jessica Chastain’s character] is a merciless robot who has no qualms about what she’s done. We should have brought bin Laden back to the US and put him on trial. At the Nuremberg Trials ‘they’ got to give us reasons and important things were aired.”

Occupy Wall Street signified “something positive”, says Kuznick, but nothing will substantively change until America becomes “part of the global community”, willing to sign collective treaties and disarm. “A council of nations, like in Star Wars,” should preside over space, says Stone. America should be “answerable for what it does rather than be the Darth Vader of the world”.

The death this month of Hugo Chávez, the President of Venezuela, has robbed the world of “its great consciences”, Stone, a friend, says. “He represented the under- class and poor oppressed everywhere. He was extremely heroic and a great leader.”

Stone accepts his book is a “leftist primer, but closer to the truth than people think”. Why does the TV series bear his name? “It was Showtime’s idea,” he says of the production company. “I understand why, otherwise it would disappear.

“It’s taken years out of my life. This is it man,” mutters Stone. “I’m finished. I’m f***ed. After this, how do you go back to drama? I need a pause.” But not for too long. “I’m writing something, but I’m not going to tell you what.” Of retirement, he says: “I might slow down but I don’t think I’ll retire my mind. It’s always playing chess with itself.” As for our future, this history man is not pessimistic. He hopes that a progressive leader will emerge. Time offers up “curveballs, moments things change”, he says smiling. “I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t able to get out of bed this morning and put some hope into my clothes and toilette.”

kiana and mei have a moment in ch 32 where they both confess and reinforce that they are the most important and beautiful parts of the world to the other.

i have my gripes w azure waters and the way it portrays sex and sa but the bronseele kiss was always portrayed as something innocent and serious. its not treated as a joke nor is it fetishized and it means infinitely more to the characters than to straight audiences (it literally being a part of their promise which motivates bronya and seele to survive throughout the time theyre apart.)

Ewan and Anna Apart from that one time I got on the wrong bus, I've been following your work for a while - I think I even saw your first piece as a scratch. Aside from reminding everyone how dedicated I am as a critic, this has allowed me to see a development in your work - and your most recent tour was on a slightly smaller scale than usual. Is this going to be more like your earlier work - or where does it fit into your progress? Ewan: In that there’s a slightly larger company of 5 performers, yes, this piece is closer to our earlier work. Stylistically we think it’s quite different - we’ve been really surprised and delighted with the material the company has created. Anna: It’ll be interesting to hear how you place it in a larger trajectory! For us, The End of Things is the natural development from Invisible Empire and Seven Hungers. We learn things as we go, and each new project is fed by the discoveries of what went before. Ewan: So The End of Things is definitely shaped by our earlier pieces. But it is also a product of our current fascinations and obsessions which change over time - although intimacy and the ways it can go wrong seem to run through most of our work to date. In the case of The End of Things, one of the things we wanted to look at is the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves, the world, each other - our dreams - and how they can be born and die.

I know this is a real stereotypical question - and I have probably asked it too often - but how do you feel your work meshes with manipulate's particular identity? Ewan: One of the things we have in common with many of the artists that perform at manipulate is an interest in non-linear storytelling. We aim for our work to be a space to dream, both for ourselves and for the audience, and that means not closing down interpretations, not making shows where there’s a ‘right answer’ to what’s going on. Years ago, I remember going to see the amazing circus Archaos somewhere in Glasgow and being transported by the show. But what struck me most was when I looked over at a guy sitting on his own a few seat over on those wooden bleachers. He was dressed like an office worker in suit and tie, the last person you’d expect to see at a punk French circus night. And he was openly weeping, tears streaming down his face. I felt then that somehow that show gave this guy the space to experience something he deeply needed. I hope our shows can do the same for someone, sometime. It’s also true that manipulate is programming more and more Scottish artists from the physical and visual performance scene here, people like Al Seed, Sita Pieraccini, Melanie Jordan, Tortoise in a Nutshell. Though our work is very different from all of these artists, there are also shared interests and points of contact. When I am talking about abstract modes of performance, I often end up dancing around the point, so here we go with a direct question: do you have a particular story to tell with this show? Ewan: Yes and no. We were interested in endings, and in the fact that really, endings only exist because stories exist. There are key points in our lives - the beginning of a relationship, a divorce, a death - these are stories we tell and retell to try and make sense of them. Things only end from our perspective, from the perspective of the universe, matter forms and reforms, things change, but nothing ends. It’s only from our point of view as story-making creatures that things end. We also wanted to look at how these stories, these dreams of how the world is, can themselves die, or break, or fail. Some people think that we’re in a time where the cultural stories we tell ourselves - that we’re progressing towards a better and better world for example - are failing and need to be replaced. Is that a yes? Probably not. There aren’t any stories told in the show, but it is saturated with stories, and the worlds of stories. Is that an answer? How would you describe the 'training process' for the cast? Ewan: We do a lot of individual and group work to free our bodies and imaginations simultaneously, so that the impulses of the imagination can move us without the rational mind getting in the way. We do this work through the body and through the voice. The devising of a show is also in itself a kind of training - in working together. We improvise daily so that we trust each other in the space and can play together well. The aim is that we can, both individually and collectively, go to places we’ve never been before. I sometimes think about the training as learning to drive the mind offroad. As in, at some point you have to turn the wheel into the jungly undergrowth and you need to learn to take the bumps and potholes and trust yourself and your partners that you’ll be ok. What kind of music can we expect? Anna: The sounds of dreams, the sounds of space, unconscious sound, deceiving sound, the sound that exists between people - the unheard music that lives in the space between people. I know that you have a background in Polish theatre, but does Company of Wolves have a Scottish aspect to their work? Anna: Absolutely. We live here, so it’s inevitable that it will seep into the work. For this show particularly, we were really struck by Glasgow as a city: the grit and the old grandeur, abandoned buildings and boarded up windows amidst thriving communities… It’s the city that’s finding its way into our work, it feels. The city, and also the space. The hills, the islands. We’ve been lucky to do a lot of travelling around Scotland in the last couple of years. And every time we head out, we’re both struck by how stunning this country is, and how vastly different the landscape is from region to region. Last time we were out together, we ended up stumbling into the Assynt peninsula. That place is unlike anything I had ever seen. And then just up from there, you end up in total wind-swept desolation on the northern coast. Crazy, crazy beautiful in such different ways. And then there’s Glasgow. Totally down-to-earth city. Gritty, human, alive. We love it here. Over time, these things are starting to feel like they have a stronger hold on us than the Polish landscape. Ewan: Also the Polish artistic tradition that gave rise to the laboratory theatre companies is quite different than the tradition here. There’s hardly any Scottish polyphonic tradition except the Gaelic Psalms of Lewis for example - but the folk tradition is based around storytelling songs. The theatre landscape in Scotland is heavily dominated by new writing. These things seep into our artistic consciousness, both as things to appropriate aspects of, or things to react against. Since we set up the company in 2012, it feels like the shape of our approach to making work and training has changed profoundly through our engagement with Scottish landscapes, both literal and artistic, but if you asked us to put how it’s changed into words, I don’t think we could. Company of Wolves is a groundbreaking laboratory theatre company based in Glasgow, formed in 2012 by Ewan Downie and Anna Porubcansky. We use elements of theatre, dance, music, and improvisation to create performances that shed light on what it means to be human.

Ewan Downie (Director) is an award-winning director, writer and actor, working worldwide in experimental theatre and performance. Ewan was a member of Poland’s renowned Song of the Goat Theatre from 2006-2012, devising and performing in Macbeth (2006-2012), The Crucible (2010), and Songs of Lear (2011-12), for which he won both a Fringe First and a Herald Archangel. Recent projects include Achilles (in development), A Brief History of Evil, The End of Things, Seven Hungers, and Invisible Empire for Company of Wolves; Cruzadas (National Theatre, Portugal); Hidden Birds (La Virgule, France).

Anna Porubcansky (Sound Designer) is a musician and performer whose training includes classical and choral singing, natural voice and vocal anatomy (Kristin Linklater, Roy Hart Theatre, Alexander Technique). She works as a music director, voice coach and live sound designer, blending traditional song and experimental electronic music. She also holds a PhD in ensemble theatre and the creation of community from Goldsmiths, University of London. Recent performances include Song Cycle at Scot:Lands (Edinburgh's Hogmanay 2015); Chemikal Underground's Duke Street Expo (2014); Cruzadas (National Theatre, Portugal) and for Company of Wolves, Seven Hungers and Invisible Empire.

The Basic Principles of Effective Website Design

One of the more important considerations for a brand is their online presence. A critical element of this is good web design. Good web design can elevate you above or drop you below your competition. Design matters, because it is a reflection of your brand and how you do business. Ultimately it helps determine how your clients and potential customers perceive you verses all your competitors.

This is especially important when it comes to web design. Websites are effectively the new storefront and often the first point of contact for a business online. With over 97% of consumers searching online for local goods and services a businesses online impression is critical. Make a poor impression, and you could lose a potential customer. Make a good one, you can gain a new customer. Make a great impression, and you can will capture and keep a customer for life.

It begins with website design, how you present your written text and visual content, and the experience you provide your users. So, let’s cover what you should know about good website design!

Have a defined purpose

Does your website have a clear purpose? Is that purpose immediately apparent to the visitor when they land on your sites home page? Or are they confused about what the point of the page is, or what type business the site is about?

Does your website quickly make it clear to the visitor the value that they can get from your products or services? Most online searchers have an extremely short attention span, especially if they are searching on a mobile devise. Are the benefits of what you have to offer immediately clear? Or is your page merely a list of products or services, and a jumble of features and specifications. If your website visitors don’t quickly see that your site is what they are looking for and the benefit you can offer them they will quickly bounce away.

Make it easy to scan your pages

When visitors come to your site they are most likely going to scan the page rather than read everything on it. For example, when visitors are looking for specific content or to complete a certain task, they will quickly scan a website’s pages until they discover what they are looking for. As the website owner it is your responsibility to help them with that by insuring good visual hierarchy. Visual hierarchy is the arrangement or presentation of elements in order of importance ━ where their eyes should focus first, second, etc.

Practical tips:

Avoid large blocks of text. Organize your content into groups to make it easier to digest visually. Breaking up blocks of text by headers or bullet points.

Put more weight on important elements. Make important elements such as call-to-action buttons or contact forms focal points so guests see them immediately. You can emphasize elements by using different font sizes or colors.

Consider our natural scanning patterns. People in the Western world read left to right, top to bottom. A website should go with this pattern to avoid confusion for your visitors. Well-designed websites lay out their content in a “F” reading shape or “Z” visual pattern.

Take content seriously

Textual content is just as important as the design of your website. More than 80% of the content on the internet is still written language. Even if your site were award winning design, it’s merely an empty shell without great content; a good website has both good design and great content. The design of the site should aid and complement the content.

Insure that the content is relevant. Visitors come to your site to find information or solve problems that they have. You need to speak to their needs, wants, and issues. Do not focus on you or your business. Focus on them. Speak to their needs and questions.

Avoid jargon. The information on your website should be as plain and simple as possible for comprehension. Best practice is to write for all levels of readers by choosing words that are simple, clear and that avoid industry or insider jargon that may not be understood by everyone.

             A Good Call-to-Action

Identify the ONE THING you want someone to do on each page of your site. If you have properly identified the prospects needs, desires, pain point, and you have offered the best solution for them, you need to give the user a way to get the benefits you’re offering. This is called a call-to-action.

For example, if you want visitors to get in touch with you, you could provide a link that says:

If you want them to download a free eBook or file, you could say:

Don’t miss out, download our special eBook on the best sites to visit in Rome, It’s free!

If you want them to subscribe to a newsletter by filling out a short form, you could say:

Yes! I want to get proven ways to make money from home by subscribing to your free newsletter!

These are just a few examples. The point is to compel them to take action now. If they put it off, it will not happen!

Minimize the number of choices

The number of choices consumersare presented with willaffect their decisions; the more choices they have, the less action they are likely to take. When you present your prospectwith too many options, you make them think too much. To increase chances for action, it is importantto minimize the number of choices.

Engage users to scroll

Scrolling drawsusers deeper into yourpagesand makes them invest more time in the experience. This increases the chance that the user will convert ━ take action. buy something, sign up for a newsletter, or contact you. Content at the top of the page is very important. It creates the important first impression and expectation of quality and positive results forvisitors. People willscroll, but only if what’s above the fold is promising enough.

Practical tip: Content and images at the top of the page will set initial expectations. If a page provides users with high-quality visuals and content, they are willing to browse for more content.

Simple and Obvious Website Navigation

The best way to ensure your visitors get around your website easily is to place a navigation menu with links to the main sections of your site at the top of each page. If you site is for a local business you will want to also have a contact phone number prominent at the top of each page. You’ll want to make it obvious to your prospect that all links are clickable. Be sure that these clickable links are visually different from the regular text content on the rest of the site.

Keep top-level navigation for main navigation options. Limit your top-level navigation links to a maximum of seven choices, most users cannot interact effectively with more choices than that. If you need more, create sub-navigation with clear categorization. Notice that even Amazon can get you to almost any product you need within about three clicks.

Use clear labels for navigation options. Use familiar words for menu options to help users understand them better.

Reduce the clicks required for users to get to a destination. Design your navigation in a way that gets visitors where they want to go with the least number of clicks possible. When designing a website, remember the three click rule we outlined above, which says that your viewers should never be more than three clicks away from what they are looking for.

Include navigation options in the footer of your site. A footer is a place where visitors expect to find navigation options and contact information.

An About Us Page

The “About Us” Page is often overlooked. It is however an opportunity to really set yourself apart from the competition. This is a good place to get creative and tell your story in a very compelling way. A good About Us page is personal and informative. It will contain striking visuals and great inside information. Undoubtedly,the best ways to market your business, products, and services is to let your satisfied customers do it for you. Make sure to include a compelling call to action on the page. Don’t leave your visitor wondering what to do next. Along with testimonials for your website, don't forget to collect online reviews.  Reviews from Google, Yelp, and Facebook can not only build your online trust but they are extremely important in building trust when searchers find you online.

A Contact Page

This should be redundant to be sure. Every page of your site should have a contact section. Never the less, be sure to give your users a way to get in touch with you! Ideally, you’ll have a contact form that a prospect can quickly fill-in and send for feedback purposes. You can also provide links to social media accounts as well. However, do not make these links prominent on the page. You do not want potential customers clicking away from the page without filling out the contact form or clicking on your call to action.

A Blog

A blog is a great way to market your business and keep your clients up-to-date on special offers, events, personnel changes, community events, etc. You can use it to create content relevant to your industry that’s useful to your clients. This is productive for them and builds authority for your site in the search engines. Use your blog to start discussions, and you can use it to get valuable feedback as well. This will provide ideas for future content and builds a sense of community between you and your clients. Done correctly, posting regular, well-written, and useful blog content can do wonders for engaging the people who matter most to you (and therefore, your business).

Fast Loading-- No one wants to wait for your site to load. In the age where most users are on mobile devises this is ever more important. Insure your site has prompt loading times for all users on all devices. You can use Pingdom or Pagespeed Insights by Google to check your website speed and get insights on how you can improve.

Mobile Ready-- Virtually everyone uses smart devices today. Create an engaging, mobile-friendly website that your audience can access quickly and displays correctly.

Tracking Enabled-- Analytics matter - it’s critical to determine that your website is actually effective and bringing in traffic. Your website should include functionality to gauge key indicators such as traffic, goals, and conversions.

SEO Savvy-- Don’t underestimate the power of optimizing your website for both browsers and humans. Provide compelling, readable content for your site visitors. For the search engines, make sure your content is keyword rich. Be sure to include all necessary on-page SEO tags and elements, including schema and XML sitemaps.

Conversion Optimized-- Synergy between visual and content elements. Address the wants, needs, questions and skepticism of your prospects then offer compelling reasons to act now to enjoy the benefits of your solution.
