Schrödinger’s Slap Ritsuka Fujimaru/gudao/gudako is from Chaldeas.

A thread analyzing Ordeal Call Prologue to prove this fact. Spoilers for up to OC Prologue ahead.

This is not the first time that Kadoc has claimed something to that effect. In Traum, he does the same thing with his claim that There’s no… one… who could be a Master to so many servants. (He also compares their command spell spam to Ritsuka’s Combat ones)

Even ignoring that, even back in arc 1, Ritsuka was never the last person alive from Proper Human History. They were arguably the last Master alive in arc 1, but they can’t even claim that title in arc 2. Kadoc is alive- so is Goredolf who has contracted Koyanskaya in LB7 so… So while you can point out the logic contradiction of Subject: E no longer being the last person alive on Chaldeas if Ritsuka is from there, the same contradiction applies between Ritsuka and Proper Human History. AimenImpaired The reality is that it doesn’t matter if they are last or one of a dozen though what matters is that all the collective will of billions is spread into such a small concentrated force. The effect is the same. The actual reason to believe it’s Chaldeas is that PHH isn’t destroyed AimenImpaired ·Oh yeah, Kadoc also directly compares Subject: E to Ritsuka. And Ritsuka inherits some of Bluebook’s memories when it’s implied that Subject: E died in Traum… Which is weird?

The logic puzzle dictates that Ritsuka was always a part of Marisbury’s plan. Daybit says that excising the Lostbelts is part of the script- they need a Master to do those. Especially since other characters claim cutting the Tree of Emptiness down is impossible.

Through seven Lostbelts, the only characters to cut down a Tree of Emptiness are Ritsuka and the Foreign Priestess. Morgan had to burn/drain hers without destroying it. Beryl damaged Magellan but didn’t destroy it. ORT just became the tree.

Dobrynya says this in Tunguska when Mash asked if she could cut down a Tree of Emptiness. She compares the task to stopping the Bleaching or a Lostbelt from taking root in difficulty.

Ritsuka’s ability to do it is an outlier, and as such their presence is a part of his plan. Daybit claims that he simulated fighting Ritsuka inside his coffin. Roman in King Arthur’s trial quest talks about Ritsuka before arc 1 and says it’s not clairvoyance that showed that.

Kirschtaria believes Ritsuka is their equal in combat- that’s not an accidental element. People who can match Kirschtaria in anything are rare. He also says Daybit told him a ton of stuff about what Ritsuka was like? How? They met once by Olympus.

Ritsuka’s presence was clearly a predicted part of the equation. Writing off the protagonist as just an ordinary person from Proper Human History, is foolish. They are integral somehow. But how? Does that mean they aren’t random or have inherently special abilities? Not really. They are from Chaldeas- it’s still just the role that is special. They were a random person from Chaldeas and as the last* survivor have these rights. They could be anyone, just a random person- but they were the only one chosen to swap. AimenImpaired · Jan 31 Let’s go back to the FIRST explanation of displacement we are given. Notice what Da Vinci uses as that first example- people. Not only that, but people who might not even know they were swapped.

On time, and no slap. Even if you pretend that they can recall everything they slept through, Ritsuka has two details that are so inherently contradictory to what we are explicitly told happened. And one of which we are also explicitly word for word told was different.

Why are there two sets of memories? Because that first rayshift is when Proper Human History Ritsuka swapped places with Chaldeas Ritsuka. And that is the version that we have been playing with for the entirety of the game. They weren’t aware of it, but it’s who they are. AimenImpaired · Jan 31 The obvious question with the idea of a person swap occurring is the idea that you are turning a simulated soul into a real one. Is it possible to do that? For that, you have Prisma Illya where displacement substitutes the soul with one from an imaginary world.

Ordeal Call Prologue’s official translation makes that the same exact system as the one used in the bleaching. It works for people! This is the Ainsworth magecraft- to swap a soul with one from an imaginary world and that can even bring the dead back to life.

It is worth noting that Ritsuka has absurd Rayshift aptitude, like to the point where they can rayshift outside of a coffin- which Beryl claims is impossible for even Chaldea. Daybit is our other character who is noted for their Rayshift aptitude- someone who isn’t from earth.

Narratively, Grand Order has to have something to humanize Chaldeas beyond Olga who is more from PHH. The Lostbelt conflict worked because they humanized the worlds and made you care for them. There is nothing of Chaldeas you care for right now. Chaldeas is not an evil planet, and Kadoc points out that Marisbury was no pessimist. Daybit claims the same, telling Marisbury the flaw in his plan is the chance of success is too low. You have to humanize the world that is an identical copy of Proper Human History.

· The only difference being that this simulated world was created in order to be destroyed. That is your distinction between worlds. One was chosen to live, the other to die. That is why Bluebook worked- he was the greatest Avenger because he had every reason to be one. Except, you have to humanize Chaldeas and add weight to the cost that they were forced to pay. The thing that makes humanity the lowest form of life- the willingness to genocide entire universes. And as the final world to be destroyed, it has to have the most weight. · You also are just going to have more of an uphill climb humanizing a world that isn’t real. People struggle to accept the idea of artificial people being equally human even in fiction, Nasu has had Arcueid tell Sion in Melty Blood BAAN simulated worlds have become real.

· Jan 31 Ritsuka being from Chaldeas humanizes it better than any of the Lostbelts have been. The world is the exact same. The people are no less human. The difference is they suffered most, the sin of Chaldea that they committed unknowingly, judging on the back of that wrong claim Our Lostbelts have all been less than human, but close so far. You have beastmen, truncated lives, one person as the only human, extended lives, dinosaurs, etc. Chaldeas is different. Bluebook is a 99% match for a PHH human. Your people are equally human there. By having your protagonist be a simulated existence the entire time, while you insert yourself over them and peel away throughout the story, you legitimize the people from that world as people. The loss feels real. Same idea as what they did with Hakuno in Extra. As we have been told repeatedly, nothing from a Lostbelt can exist in Proper Human History once the Lostbelt is destroyed. Not Gerda’s flowers, not the Storm Border… and not Ritsuka. “You are sure to face partings as you walk this path. Be certain you are prepared for this.”
