Hannah Conda has spoken out about her mental health struggles in the wake of Drag Race success. 
After coming runner-up on season two of Drag Race: Down Under and finding newfound professional success, Hannah said she began struggling with depression and anxiety.
“Depression, she actually called up her little sister, anxiety,” Hannah told the Mental As Anyone podcast.
“It was so confusing because it was meant to be this point where my career was changing.
“The time after Drag Race, I hated it. I was so depressed, so miserable. I hated getting into drag, hated going to gigs. The thing that brought me so much joy, and that I loved so much was enemy number one in my mind at this point.”

Hannah Conda: ‘It has lurked around me forever’
Hannah said that after Drag Race UK, things had gotten so dark that he began to experience suicidal ideation.
“I was chatting with my friend on Friday night at the club and I said, ‘you know what, I haven’t thought about killing myself for six months’,” he said.
“Suicidal ideation, it has been one of those things that has lurked around me forever, always. “There have been many times I have tried to end it all and be done with it.”
However, Hannah went on to say that she had come out the other side.
“I’m at an eleven babes, I’m just having the best time at the moment. I’m savouring each moment, I’m enjoying each day,” Hanna said.
“Everything always works out, it happens in whatever way it’s meant to happen. So let’s just enjoy the bloody ride.”

West Virginia renters who experienced losses due to the severe storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides of April 11-12 may be eligible for disaster recovery assistance from FEMA and the U.S Small Business Administration (SBA). Renters may be eligible for grants from FEMA to help with such disaster-related expenses as: Renting a new place to live when the renter’s previous home was lost due to the disaster. Disaster-related medical and dental expenses. Replacement or repair of necessary personal property lost or damaged in the disaster, such as appliances and furniture; textbooks and computers used by students; and work equipment or tools used by the self-employed. Repair or replacement of vehicles damaged by the disaster. Disaster-related funeral and burial expenses. FEMA grants are not loans and do not have to be repaid. They are not taxable income and will not affect eligibility for Social Security, Medicaid, welfare assistance, SNAP benefits and several other programs. Renters who sustained losses can apply for assistance in several ways, including: visiting a Disaster Recovery Center, calling the FEMA Helpline line at 800-621-3362, online at DisasterAssistance.gov, or downloading the FEMA App for mobile devices. West Virginia residents can visit a Disaster Recovery Center to get help registering for FEMA disaster assistance. To locate one, check the FEMA app or visit fema.gov/drc. NSW Premier Chris Minns has formally apologised on behalf of the government to people convicted of homosexual acts.
NSW is the last state in apologise for the anti-gay laws which were reformed in 1984.
Mr Minns said these laws “persecuted, and harmed” people based on their sexuality, and acknowledged there was “still much more work to do to ensure the equal rights of all members of the LGBTQIA+ community”.
“We’re here to apologise for every life that was damaged or diminished or destroyed by these unjust laws,” he said to a packed public viewing gallery.
“To those who survived these terrible years and to those who never made it through, we are truly sorry.
“As a state, we told you were wrong. But the truth is you are never wrong. These laws were wrong.”
Attending the apology were more than a dozen 78ers, NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb and Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore.

However, Pride in Protest has called the apology a “distraction” and is calling for the state government to do more to protect LGBTQIA+ people – specifically, passing the Equality Bill.
Chris Minns is apologising today for the historic ways the law was weaponised against the queer community,” Pride in Protest and Sex Worker Action Collective member Wei Thai-Haynes said.
“The big problem is that while he’ll apologise in one breath for the past, Minns’ is delaying progress and refusing to act on all the ways the law is STILL homophobic and transphobic.
“An apology is long overdue and we would all like to be together to commemorate an important symbolic moment. But the victims of the criminalisation of homosexuality and our broader queer community deserve a genuine apology – that means an apology that is accompanied by an end to the ways the law still fails us”
“The Minns Labor Government have the numbers in Parliament to pass the Equality Bill today. They could give us legal protection from discrimination. They could remove the barriers that prevent many trans people from living their lives freely and authentically. [The NSW government] could ignore the noise from religious extremists and transphobes and protect the dignity of queer people.
“Every day, NSW Labor is choosing to leave us unequal.”
