Top Row: Leah Needlenam*. Volt from Volt. Denos, a community character.

Middle Row: Pickpocket & Widget from Pickpocket, Our Hero. Vindozz AKA The Threat from the New Fantendoverse. Boare from Unten's franchise whatever you wanna call it.

Bottom Row: Agustaclove from The Overclove. Stump from Pusher's Pile. Dawn Shadows from Fear Fighter.

These are basically all more or less my own spins on the designs except Pickpocket who is basically the same.

Name: Flying Banana

Can you believe Flying Banana does not have an official render? I guess I can. But it is still kind of sad! I like them! So I made this Fantendo-style custom render to try to do it a bit more justice. I hope you like it. It took a whole a few minutes!

I like Flying Banana. It’s a banana, and it’s flying, and are you gonna go catch it? No, you are not, because it is not collectible! When Flying Banana appears, it will be followed by a trail of normal bananas, and collecting THOSE will turn the Flying Banana into some kind of goody to collect. It is generous, but it must test you first, to see if you are worthy of its reward... will you make Flying Banana proud? I know I would like it to have a good opinion of me.

Hm? What’s that sound? Why, it’s the LORE BELL! Yeah, that was really all Flying Banana does in game, and now it’s time already to discuss the Lore of this fruit, which does indeed exist. The first secret stage of the game, Zip-Line Shrine, is entirely themed around Flying Bananas! I think it is safe to assume this was left by an earlier Kong civilization on the island. There are massive stone statues of them all over the place, and at the very beginning of the stage, DK unearths a trio of statues that open their mouths, releasing a swarm of Flying Bananas unto the earth. Be free!

I think it is very funny to see them in a group like this. Like bugs. Imagine someone being completely jaded to Flying Bananas and seeing them as a nuisance.

Post-Rare Donkey Kong definitely puts a focus on pure gameplay over fleshing out the world and characters as the original DKC trilogy did, but Flying Banana feels, to me, like a sort of call-back to some of those original elements. In the past, there have been Banana Birds and Banana Fairies as mystical, banana-based creatures who help the Kongs. Flying Banana, then, with the background lore implications, feels like another version of this concept, even if it’s ultimately just a platforming collectible! And it feels like there is even more value in this new DK world beyond just Funny Animals, even if Funny Animals is always a great thing.

And then there is the Mario Kart Banana Peel. Another banana with eyes! Might they be related? Even if Flying Banana has differently-styled eyes, it definitely does still bring to mind a Mario Power-Up. It is like a dash of Super Mario in Donkey Kong’s domain! I don’t think Flying Banana is directly related to these specific Banana Peels, since these ones have a mouth and all, but that could just as easily be attributed to an art style thing, especially since the banana statues in the shrine have mouths. Could Flying Banana’s true identity be a Para-Banana...?

That was a bunch of rambling. Look! This banana has a mustache! Heehee.

1) Wtf happened to the Koopalings? Why do they all look so traumatised?

2) Why are wedding Mario, Peach & Bowser not together?

3) Why is Dr. Mario so far away from the other Marios?

4) Why is Dry Bowser #2 so far away from the rest of the Bowsers?

7) Why is Pom Pom and Captain Toadette here without their respective companions (Boom Boom and Captain Toad)? Unless this Toadette is Odyssey Toadette, which I guess is fine, but POM POM IS NEVER WITHOUT BOOM BOOM?

8) Why is this under the Koopalings tag if 24/31 of the plushes are not Koopalings?

With a long ole big ole schnozz. Well for most of my life the very first google image search result for snifit, which is still there on the top if you google "snifit", was this:

This THING from Fantendo made by a fellow named "Ziegs" in 2007. And ever since I was a kid i used to fucking hate looking at it. Why does it look like that?? Why is its sniffer so small and flat?? No snifit looks like that. Well when i watched the mario movie against my will last year guess whose off-model gaze I happened to meet

So I fell down a rabbit hole with friends, which is the Fantendo website. On it I found ideas that were pretty fun, and I wanted to try my hand at two of them! I guess you could call them fanarts?

Ah, Fantendo wiki. The place where dreams don’t come true but by god they put in the work anyways. I’ve always been enamored with its community and culture so every now and then I get the urge to draw some of its many characters. Top and Bottom row have my own spins on the designs, while the middle row have been presented as-is.

i sadly never made any sparkledog characters (closest to that are the pokemon i'd draw in 2016 lol) when i was first on the internet.... but i made a lot of princess ocs back then!!

this character here from 2014 is called cloudee, or dee for short. i named her recently because i dont remember her original name she was inspired off the fantendo character princess lumi lol maybe i should redraw her one day!!
