Sørvágsvatn, lake on Faroe Island. 🇫🇴
The Sørvágsvatn or Leitisvatn, is the largest lake in the Faroe Islands.
It is located on the island of Vágar, in the west of the archipelago, being shared by the municipalities of Sørvágur and Vágar.
It has an area of 3.56 sqm.
Its average depth is 2.5 m, and its maximum depth is 59 m. It is an elongated lake located in the south of Vágar, at an altitude of 32 m.s.n.m.
At its northern border, close to the geographical center of the island, is the village of Vatnsoyrar, in the south the drain lake at the Bøsdalafossur waterfall, which falls directly into the sea from 30 m height.
