Everything looked so fun and amazing, from the decorations, the things to do, the food and she really liked the costumes some were wearing, really out of all the festivities she came to know since being here Halloween was probably the one she enjoyed most, and really everything going on really make all the bad things that went down lately , just go away.
She was happily eating some cotton candy, seeing how she'd look with diffrent colored hair, right now she had some shade of magenta and she kinda liked it honestly. She noticed someone close by "Are you having fun?"
Tilly's blonde hair was soaked red from the sticky fake blood for her Carrie costume, and she looked great - that was her opinion, but she knew she did. The tiara was pinned in, and while her skin felt just as sticky as her hair, it didn't bother her. She wasn't cold, it was a nice evening on the island and everybody kept talking about how fun the snacks were. Pink cotton candy had her long locs turning the same rose color as the sugar. Just then, someone spoke, and Tilly glanced over with a smile and girlish giggle. "Wait, this is so cute!" she gushed, getting a piece of blue cotton candy next, and watching the color spill down from her roots to her ends. "This is so fun!"

Temporary Home//Malon+Fayeth
Going off of this @fayeth-araven
Malon was a bit excited to be staying at a real house again rather than a cell. And it was someone he knew too so that was a super plus for him. Though he knew that would be the reality when they rooms are all back up again. But he wasn't expecting to be at Fayeth's house and it was a really nice house. When he saw Fayeth at the front door he smiled back. "Hey there~ I will say you got a really nice place and ya a tour sounds fun! Im just happy to have a real bed again haha."

Katell was taken aback by Fayeth's assessment at first, but upon reflection it was true. Although she was a bound slave on a depraved island away from all the power and luxury she'd ever known, she was happier here than she'd been in some time. As much as her status contradicted it, she'd found more freedom within the safety of this shrouded island than her last few decades at court under Daley's thumb.
At Fayeth's second admission, Katell took her friends hand. Her thumb rubbed the back of Fayeth's hand as she shared a soft, understanding smile. "I can only imagine the confusion that must have filled my absence at court. It must still linger in your mind and if I could explain it, I would. You must understand my silence, it's-" she stopped, her tongue refusing to utter words that might point to foul play. The orders Daley gave her had not lost their potency in the time she'd been away.
Katell took a deep breath and changed the topic, "but we're both here now, and happy. That is what we must focus on, our futures." She smiled brightly to try and easy any concern Fayeth might have had.
“Happy and safe and everything” she explained she sighed “I was worried not knowing anything” she also felt she couldn’t talk about it with anyone back home, even if she knew many felt like her they all knew it was best not to rock the boat or anything. She had always take comfort that Katell knew people and unlike her she knew much about the mortal world and other species but still.

continued from here! @rowan-revelry
As she approached the corner, not suddenly at all, Fayeth felt like crying too. She needed not to hold her gaze on the dress or the bruise. There was... Sorrow. And maybe grief? And it hurt badly, didn't it? It broke her heart altogether to feel it, even though she hadn't exchanged more than some pleasantries with its source.
Someone handsome. But who she found quite odd and had a thousand curiosities to ask to, if given the liberty.
"Are you...?" Alright, your royal highness?
That seemed like a rather dumb question.
Fayeth suddenly realized that simply acting true to herself should be enough... a gesture of goodwill, at the very least.
The young princess caught her own skirt, so she could ease her way down into sitting near the other: right in front, yet sideways, with her back against the wall.
In a way, a shield from the rest of the world. In another, some soothing presence.
She then grabbed a small package from her pocket and gently offered it to the other, with an extended hand and open palm. It was a piece of chocolate she had been saving since lunch.
She felt like she had barged into something rather private. But she had good intentions... and this had to count, right?

“Well I don’t mind petting him all he wants really” she said as she began to pet the bear, it wasn’t every day that she got to pet a cute bear after all, so she intended to make the most of it. “Oh that’s really amazing..so you were a very good warrior and so he picked you or you have always been one?” Odin was probably very understanding letting one of his warriors come to the institute, or maybe there were just no battles to fight right now.”Yes I am! have you met others like me?”
Magnus chuckled a little, his head shaking with amusement at the bear's antics. If he hadn't trained Bumbles himself, he would think that all he cared about was cuddles and affection. “I was and still am an amazing warrior. I became a Berserker in 492 AD when I died as a human and a Valkyrie plucked my soul from the battlefield and presented me to Odin. Ever since then I've died and been reborn constantly across the centuries.” Magnus shrugged nonchalantly. The life cycle of a berserker didn't bother him, especially considering how little he remembered from his many lives. “I have indeed met many Fae. There's a number here on the island and I've been to the Fae court many times with my Grandfather.”

Fayeth is very proud of her cooking, and the amount of effort and time she puts into it - especially when it comes to seasoning. It helps that her establishment is mostly a bakery, but when she DOES do full meals for the folks staying in her guest rooms, or coming for a late dinner, she rarely does the whole "putting out a salt rock" thing. And when she does that, she mentally notes anyone who actually does lick it.
If it's a foreigner, trying to do what the guidebooks say is "Ishgardian etiquette," the problem usually sorts itself out. No one WANTS to just plain lick a salt rock, especially when it means wiping out the taste of the actual food. If they keep trying, then honestly, they're probably just never going to appreciate good food.
Brume-born folks almost never touch the salt rock, except to maybe take a knife and tap a tiny bit more seasoning out. Neither do most of the sort of middle-level folks like Fayeth's family. In either case, she just folds her arms and accepts the good-natured ribbing that comes with having to prepare it. Yes, she has a business to run, and appearances to keep up. No, that doesn't mean she can't take a joke. But also yes, you will be paying an additional fee for ordering it.
Ishgardian soldiers know not to tempt fate by doing the above. Fayeth somehow never notices that off-duty soldiers stiffen up and are on their best behaviour, and nor does she notice that their sergeants always seem to sweep around at regular intervals to check up on them. There is never a worry about the salt rock. If they want additional seasoning, they ask - typically very politely, which confuses the poor gal, whose childhood exposure to such was as the eldest daughter of a High House sergeant, whose soldiers were as rowdy as they came. (She has not connected the dots, no. She's smart, but occasionally misses some things)
The nobles, though... If you lick the salt rock, you go on the list. It's usually temporary. Just long enough to make you regret it. More than one lower noble in a High House has been seen pacing, waiting, around Valentione's, desperate for those cinnamon buns that no one else has the recipe for. And if you're a Dzemael who does it? Even/especially granted her links to that House? Well. Your best bet is in going out to Moghome and begging Tarreson to intervene, because that is a PROPER ban.
....I think I ended up rambling. I might reread this tomorrow and roll my eyes at myself, but I couldn't resist.
my least favorite character in ff14 is the ishgardian rock salt tooltip
1.) it's always correct to disrespect item descriptions you don't like, especially if they only exist in english
2.) *pinches nose, extremely a nerd voice* it's been established in-game that ishgard is culturally distinct from coerthas and that a defining feature of ishgardian cuisine vs. coerthan cuisine is how extensively spiced and seasoned it is (whereas coerthan food is noted to be blander and probably derived from gridanian cuisine, and ishgardians dont appreciate coerthan food and vice versa). that motherfucking food is seasoned!!!! get that shitty rock off the table!!!!!!!!!!!!
3.) since ishgardian food is well-seasoned already, if the salt rock exists it should only be as an incredibly funny secret insult. if you lick the rock you're telling the host that you think that he is shit and his food is bland (like a coerthan, god forbid, or even worse, a gridanian). the rock should only exist as a catalyst for 3 to 7 generations-long ishgardian blood feuds. i want to see people getting knifed at the table for daring to lick the rock. i want to see families get ruined. make the salt rock political

あなたは今どこで何をしていますか? この空の続く場所にいますか? いつものように笑顔でいてくれますか? 今はただそれを願い続ける…
(The song got stuck in my head, and I had to do it, even if it's incredibly overly dramatic. Still, though.)

Just another curse for the unlucky guy
To know you will mourn your child
No wonder he never denies going on trips with her. He might be hesitant but he goes, what if maybe if he dies he doesn't have to mourn for this little girl that he raised with the assumption that she would safely outlive him. That they would have centuries together. Do you think he looks back at Figs baby pictures and wonders why he didn't spend more time at home?
What I'm saying is that Gilear didn't just find out his wife cheated on him, he also discovered he was going to outlive his daughter by centuries. Tiefling typically only live a few years longer than humans, which is a far cry from the life span he expected for Fig. Do you think he's ever processed that grief? Do you think Fig has? Do you think any of her parents sat her down and talked to her about what that meant for her? idk I have some feelings about it.
