After a drought of information, both the Sui/Han comeback and GP assignments drop on the same day! So much to think about.

Lots of Grand Prix thoughts. I know everything is strategic with these. I can see that strategy with Bock, who got the easiest set of assignments. Less so with Gilles/Poirier with their Finlandia pick, which is a tough field with both the comeback teams jockeying for position.

And CPom and LaLa going head to head in both assignments. Each of them are likely to get silver at their home event. The strategy here for both may be to avoid all the travel to focus on training time. Both now seem like long shots for the GPF. I hope I’m wrong!

Starting with GP France - I’m not surprised to see FB/C there (lots of home cooking coming) but that’s a lot of pressure to be ready for the first GP and no ability to withdraw without sending eyebrows way up. Seeing F\G and G/F go head to head early on will be interesting. So happy to see R/A get two assignments despite the disaster at Worlds.

Cup of China - should be an easy win for Bock. Silver and bronze will be interesting with S/D and L/B fighting it out. Another key match up (and following behind in case others make errors) is B/S and Z/K. Good to see Lim/Quan got an assignment here.

Skate Canada (why do you have to be in Saskatoon??) A coronation for G/P and likely much home cooking for LaLa. I would expect to see CPom in bronze but it’s a very strong field. T/V and Mzazeks for sure and R/A if they are back in form. Hoping for Hensen/Lickers in that TBD.

NHK - Two key face offs. F/G versus G/F again. And the US face off for the third Olympic spot (?) between G/P and the Shibs. This is where I think the Shibs have the best chance of medalling. I’m also excited to see Fabbri/Ayer and Yoshida/Morita debut.

Skate America - A super easy win for Bock unless disaster strikes again this year (can you imagine CPom winning SkAm??!). A strong field with LaLa and L/B in the race for medals. I’m looking forward to seeing Bekker/Hernandez and Tali/Lafonara debut. And that US TBD sitting there reminding us of all the drama last year.

Finally the least predictable (IMO) one - Finlandia. On paper G/P should win, but given the surprise falls last year and politics at play - who knows. FB/C certainly could challenge if their skill or politics are working by then. S/D, T/V and the Shibs will also be in the fight and past home cooking indicates T/V will be taking the bronze. This is also a Shibs versus Z/K ( which I’d guess the Shibs will win) and and Igor versus Marina showdown. The drama will be high. Looking forward to Orihara/Pirinen’s debut. This is also the Brown’s only assignment and it’s a tough one.

On the politics front it looks like USFS is setting Bock up for Olympic gold and giving the Shibs every opportunity to get an Olympic spot. France seems to have thrown all their support behind FB/C, leaving L/B out in the cold as we all feared. Skate Canada sending only 4 teams out?

It’s going to be a very interesting season. My guess would be Bock, G&P, FB/C, F/G and G/F at GPF, but we could have a season like last where the mighty literally fell. Ice is slippery. Those who don’t make the final get the advantage of more training time before the Olympics and good showings at GPF certainly didn’t help L/B or LaLa at Worlds last year.

I can’t wait! We all know one of the key factors is good material, so I can’t wait to see the new programs.

to my untrained eye it looks like fbc are not as bad as previously hoped sadly. however they definitely look like 2 people who happen to be skating together rather than a partnership with actual chemistry

I think with FBC and the Shibs we are seeing 1) how hard it is for skaters to find something after skating that feels meaningful and 2) the weakness of the current top 3 leading everyone to think they can come back and be successful.

I totally agree with both points, these teams are coming back because they feel the field is open and they can be in contention.

To me, I would be less negative about both comebacks if I will see each of the teams truly try to do something different, try to challenge themselves, and challenge the sport. That's one of the main reasons that I respect Tessa and Scott's comeback so much, they were very open about feeling they still have more to give, feeling like they have unfinished business, and feeling like they want to really challenge themselves and do things differently. And they did, they came back with new lifts, new styles, revamped technical skills, changed coaches, and changed the way they skate and prepare. At the same time, the Shibs and FB/C are coming back to the same coaches, FB/C seem to simply be doing whatever Cizeron is already comfortable with, and the Shibs have yet to release even one skating video and have only done PR in their 2018 costumes and an old lift. To say I'm not optimistic about what these two teams will bring to ice dance is an understatement, unfortunately, but I will say their motivation seem to mostly be around going to another Olympics and not anything else.

It's the first game in the genre that I would say could go toe to toe with Ib. And that is HIGH PRAISE from me. Like the highest I could give an rpgmaker style horror game. in storm, published after the first dunk and egg tale, suddenly a new phrase is being thrown around to insult people. and hmmm, all three characters mocked with these word are all v good-sized BIG and TALL types, not unlike ser duncan the tall, who introduced the phrase. and hmmm, the third of these characters, brienne of tarth, is later further linked to dunk in her own pov, when she recalls finding an old shield in her father's castle described just like dunk's uniquely picturesque coat-of-arms. and hmmm, the fuller version of the insult dunk repeats in his head is "Dunk the lunk, thick as a castle wall and slow as an aurochs." who else is insulted as an aurochs? that's right, the second mocked character above, grenn. so what i'm saying is i think bri and grenn are distant cousins of some sort, and if anyone's keeping track of things catelyn stark and jon snow have in common (besides disliking theon and finding jaime hot) then you should add earning the loyalty of a descendant of the noble line of ser duncan the tall aka dunk the lunk.

🌸｡*ﾟ+. HMMMM... I'll have to hearken back to the Facebook roleplaying days... someone's muse had a crush on mine, but mine just viewed them as a friend? And then I started writing with a friend where our muses were together. So this person went around telling others that my muse broke their heart?? And then others started messaging me on there like Why did you do that??? and I was SO confused...

FB RPC tend to be very single ship (because y'know... the "relationship status" thing?) but I was one of the few who didn't do that. So I was. Very. Confused. And just sorta... bowed out LOL which sucks because I did enjoy writing with a good amount of people on there! But oh well... it eventually lead me to roleplaying on here, which !! Is by MILES far better than on there!
