From the Reductive Block Printing workshops @featherstonecenterforthearts this past month. Shown here are state one and state two of the block, printed separately (1st) and then together(2nd.) Then there’s the second and third states of the block, printed separately, followed by examples of all three states printed together. The last two show the whole process laid out of the bulletin board, including the design play at the end. I cut the block in half and started playing with found shapes and patterns (black and white.) Making these hand towels is a blast. Each one is a new adventure in color and texture while keeping it soft to touch. And of course they have to work i.e. they need to be able to dry stuff! They look cool on the back too. The seamy side is often as beautiful to me as the “presentable“ side… In people as well as art! i’ll be restocking at Featherstone’s holiday gift show today.
