Is Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Cruetly Free?

For today's Is (BLANK) Cruelty Free? I'm going to be focusing on the brand Fenty Beauty by Rihanna. This is a brand new brand that is available exclusively at Sephora. And I am really interesting in trying out everything considering they are coming out with 40 shades of foundations, lip gloss, 2 full highlighters, 5 highlight duos, blotting powder, 10 match stix shimmer skinstick that can be used as blush/highlight, 19 match stix matte skinsticks that can be concealer/contour, primer, and brushes. With more shades on their way for all of them. So there's something for everyone. But there's been a little confusing over if Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is cruelty free or not. Originally when they announced the brand, their website said they would be launching globally including in China and Turkey where they are required to test by law but since that's vanished. Most likely due to a change inside of Sephora's parent brand LVMH putting the brand to their cruelty free brand Kendo. So let's drop into what their policy is.

As a side note, second I can I'm getting a large portion of this collection as it looks amazing and is magnetic to the skinsticks form a beehive pattern. And will be doing a review on it. Most likely in October when I come back online or in November. Just depending on funds and how many things will be available when I do get funds for it.

The criteria I use to determine if a brand is cruelty free are the following:

Don't test finished products or ingredients on animals.

Don't have suppliers who test on animals.

Don't allow any third parties to test on animals on their behalf.

Don't sell cosmetics in physical store in mainland China.

Don't test on animals where required by law.

As for where the products are available, since the license is owned by Kendo these products will never be in China or a country that requires testing by law. But here's what they had to say about it:

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Invisimatte Blotting Powder

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Invisimatte Blotting Powder gets awesome reviews on the Sephora website, but it was the only product from my recent Fenty Beauty purchase that I didn’t love…so I’ll keep this short and sweet.

It’s a 0.3-oz. plastic pan of non-refillable $32 pressed translucent powder (comes with a puff) for setting your foundation and/or concealer (you can also use it on bare skin to vanquish shine), and while it’s supposed to be completely undetectable on skin, unfortunately, I can totally see it.

OK, I’ll admit that I’m weird about face powder… I absolutely do not want to see it on my skin. At all. That’s why I hold MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in such high regard, because it’s the most non-powdery powder out there, IMO, regardless of how closely I peer into my mirror at it, and regardless of the lighting situation.

Sadly, I can totally see Invisimatte when I look at myself in bright sunlight, especially when I turn my head. BAM! It drives me absolutely batty. There they are, grains of powder hanging out on the little hairs on the sides of my cheeks, and don’t even pretend like you don’t also have them.
