i know tv tropes says that andrew answering “no” to wether music competitions are subjective is him being forced to admit that fletcher’s approval is really what he wants but honestly i lowkey agree with him and dont think thats the point of the dialogue 😭

art really isnt as subjective as ppl think; theres a difference between stylistic and skill differences. thats why competitions exist. but some people arent looking to improve and thats okay!! art can be a hobby as well as a honed skill. there ARE good and bad artists (as long as you arent comparing apples and oranges).

I thought that scene was more getting at the idea that andrew’s family doesn’t see music as something that he has to work for as much as everyone else. it’s already established that they dont rlly see it as a serious career, but they also dont see his work as progress, because they 1. don’t have the trained ear to know the fine differences in music and 2. don’t see it as work in the first place. if that makes any sense

thinking so so hard about vivienne's defensive reactions to dorian and cassandra trying (and failing) to comfort her over bastien's passing. chewing on it. thinking about her inability to talk about bastien, even to an inquisitor when the player tries to talk to her about him.

and then her banter with blackwall, who is one of the companions she has a mostly negative dynamic with, yet it is him and not dorian or cassandra that she responds kindly to.

blackwall doesn't dance around it or try to lessen the blow of bringing it up like dorian and cassandra do, and i think she appreciates that directness. she still doesn't open herself up to him, though. she is so,,, agh

my wife (!) only thinks about tim drake in relation to me; pretty sure 90% of what she knows about him is indeed through osmosis, 1% is from when she's gone off on her own to find me a tim-related gift or something, and the remaining 9% is her own background dc knowledge from reading everything that has ever featured renee montoya.

unfortunately tim drake has nothing to offer her (he's not a lesbian) but she's very supportive of my interests and has employed the phrase "look, it's your boy" many times over the course of our relationship.

Captain America's cast is predominantly POC, from the protagonists, the antagonists and what neutral and/or side characters.

And just look at the differences in premieres and attendance and the exposure between it and tbolts. Now a film with a return to predominantly white cast gets huge spectacles and events made of their premiere with constant advertising and interviews. They even get the Marvel intro that they refused to give Sam's first lead film.

But where was half this fanfare fer Captain America?

I feel bad fer Danny because he showed up and had to see the favoritism firsthand and he's not a dummy or blind to the preferential treatment given to white actors/characters. That had to feel like a slap to the fucking face. As a fan it certainly feels that way.

And there aren't enough words at the level of disgust I continue to feel fer this fandom at large. How can a film that they're bitching about Stan not having a bigger role still be so fuckin fantastic if they're majorally going to see it fer him? The dishonesty and blind obsession of that fucking sect of stans is sickening.

Their open hostility to Sam about everything his character has said or done, and many things he has not except in their small minds, is unforgivable. But the bitch who disrespected everyone, especially women and POC, treating them inferior and with such poorly hidden hatred, who attempted to kill Sam (who they dgaf about) as well as their precious bean Bucky and actually murdered a surrendering man that was not responsible fer his besties death and then lied about that to his family - this muthafucka they go to bat fer?! the wrongful villainization of anders after dragon age 2 is directly linked to vivienne's writing as being a staunchly pro-circle character in dragon age inquisition. btw. and i think we must keep this in mind when we talk about her. dragon age inquisition pulled back HARD when it came to the mage/templar war in an effort to completely villainize what anders had done, ensure that no one could find him sympathetic, and tried to 'both sides' the conflict in attempting to present it as more gray and ended up failing in this attempt, at least imo. this centrist, toothless turn in writing that so blatantly points the finger at the mages reflects highly in vivienne's own characterization. and we must keep this in mind when talking about her beliefs and politics.
