Technically these are all pictures from yesterday but oh well. I went into work yesterday morning to help get some pieces together for a class. A retired professor came to guest lecture and requested some items. I got to sit through her lecture, which was amazing and I didn't get the chance to have a class with her so it was even better. In studio art my professor found the linoleum block he carved of a Holbein print and I got to print it! I love it so much and i'm planning on trying to simplify one and do a wood carving for my last print next week.

Maybe it’s the Australian upbringing, but dear lawd to a feel like an ass for actually promoting my art stuff.

But I know I should, and that I need to even, to be the professional I want to be. So here’s the halfway point of me rubbing my arms nervously coz I’ve started streaming art ‘study sessions’. It’s very rough and doesn’t quite know what it wants to be yet, but if you’d like to come hang out on Twitch and draw some stuff together with company, come on by.

Gonna make some posts later with the drawings done on stream too. Gotta say, it’s been really motivating to talk though and share progress. Would love to see you there.

learned that oil pastels are actually not that bad (these r from art class)

Ive always hated doing stuff beyond doodles in traditional art, or anything outside digital. I've never used oil pastels before but they're pretty easy to pick up as long as you dont mind it getting all over ur hands

The eye was for an actual assignment and the little creature and bush was because the colors look nice :)

Continuous Thread

This piece another work in my thesis project. It consists of three ceramic and mosaic tiles. They are meant to represent the connection between the generations of Greek women.

There are three hands holding on to a blue thread, which is a symbol of Greek heritage. The level of connection to cultural identity, while different for each woman, is still present whether it's realized or not. At the end of the day, we are all Greek by blood. It is part of us in one way or another.

The size of not just the hands, but the tiles as well are all intentional. They are based mainly on the age differences. As you can see, they haven't gone through the first round of firing yet, as there isn't much color and no mosaic tiles. I'll continue to update the process very soon!
