Feysand Parenting Headcanons

A/n: For day 3 of @officialfeysandweek2023 I wanted to post some parenting headcanons for the prompt ‘Family’, so here is a collection of headcanons with Rhysand, Feyre and lil’ baby Nyx.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

✨ Feyre and Rhysand love with their whole hearts and so you just know that Nyx is the most adored baby around.

✨ Being so absorbed in trying to save his mate during her pregnancy, Rhysand never had the chance to go through what most first time parents do, which is to have a pre-baby panic.

✨Once Feyre and Nyx are safe though and Madja and the Inner Circle have all gone home, Rhysand’s doubts start to creep in.

✨His main concern is that he is afraid to turn into his father. He dreads the idea of causing his son any feelings of inadequacy like his own father did to him.

✨He feels better however once he talks this through with his mate.

✨Feyre also had the same doubts about her own suitability as a mother, when her own was so neglectful. But they both make each other see how they are nothing like their parents and they are not doomed to make the same mistakes.

✨ Feyre and Rhysand LOVE being home with their baby. After everything they have gone through they enjoy just relaxing with with each other and their son in the peace of their own home.

✨This causes relentless teasing from Mor and Cassian who are convinced having a baby has aged the couple a thousand years.

✨Despite becoming homebodies they do still venture out with their son into Velaris for walks along the Sidra and dinners out with the Inner Circle.

✨Nyx is such a happy bouncy baby. He loves meeting new people and exploring the Velaris with his parents.

✨Baby carriers probably don’t exist in Prythian but you can’t convince me that Rhysand wouldn’t rock some sort of baby wrap made from the most lavish fabric so that he can carry his son and look stylish at the same time.

✨He would wear it ALL the time. Even in the house sometimes. But Feyre wouldn’t care at all because she loves seeing her boys cuddling together.

✨Rhys and Feyre would have so many playful fights trying to get Nyx to say Mama or Dada first.

✨A lot of these arguments ended with Feyre lovingly calling her mate a prick, which is why they should not have been so surprised when that was Nyx’s first word.

✨After this incident Feyre and Rhys insisted on instilling a swear jar policy for not only themselves, but entire inner circle.

✨This does not go down well with the rest of the Inner Circle, and is overflowing after the first hour thanks to Cassian who keeps forgetting to censor himself in front of the baby.

✨Nyx’s birthday gifts would be EXTRAVAGANT, because you just know Rhysand would not be able to control himself.

✨Nyx is obsessed with the horses they sometimes see on their walks and so Rhysand would not hear it when Feyre told him a one year old doesn’t need his own horse.

✨Another year Rhysand bought so many gifts it took them a full hour to open them all, and Feyre had to enforce a ten gift limit after that.

✨Rhysand’s heart can’t cope when he comes down from his office to find Nyx napping on Feyre in the living room whilst she also dozes peacefully.

✨Seeing his mate so at peace and makes him so unbelievably happy.

Headcanons: How the IC Reacted to Finding Out Feyre and Rhys Were Mates

My contribution to Feysand Week Day 3: Family! @officialfeysandweek2023

Mor, obviously, was the first to find out that Feyre and Rhys were mates. Immediately, she was begging Rhys for details. She was absolutely thrilled by the prospect of Rhys having a mate, but also having another girl in the group. Going out to bars with Amren was a lot less fun when she only drank blood.

As much as Rhys would have liked to take credit for Feyre's wardrobe and room in the Moonstone Palace, a lot of it was owed to Mor, who hit the shopping district of Velaris to find things she thought Feyre would like, just in case she ever came to the Night Court. After all, Rhys had been gone for 50 years. He was behind on the fashions.

Mor was much less convinced than Rhys was that he would never call in the bargain, and was quite proud of herself when Feyre mentioned how comfortable she found the Night Court's styles.

Azriel hadn't been getting reports from Nuala and Cerridwen while they were trapped with Rhys, but when they got back to Velaris, they told him their suspicions about Feyre - it turned out, to anyone who knew Rhys well enough, his connection to her wasn't nearly as secret as the High Lord would have liked to think.

Because of this, Azriel knew almost as soon as Mor did, but pretended he was oblivious for the next three months.

He was suspicious of Feyre at first, because she was from an enemy court, but not long after meeting her, he saw what she was capable of, and that she went to the Weaver and the Summer Court without hesitation. She had earned his hard-won respect and trust.

Amren found out because of necessity, and because of Mor's lack of subtlety. When the three of them were having a strategy meeting not long after Rhys returned, Mor let it slip "on accident."

Rhys made her swear not to say anything to his brothers.

Outwardly, Amren looked at it through a political lens - another Made faerie could have lots of implications on the upcoming war. However, she also spent time researching any laws that could have prevented Rhys from calling in his bargain or separating the two of them. Like Rhys, she knew what it was to be lonely, and she knew he deserved someone by his side.

Rhys wasn't wrong when he thought Cassian would be ready to marry Feyre after she threw her bone-spear at Amarantha. Rhys's attachment to her was immediately obvious anytime he talked about her.

Cassian ended up bothering Azriel about it until he got Az to admit it. Like Az, he had to pretend to be surprised when Rhys actually told him (shortly after Feyre dumped his ass in the snow)

Rhys didn't notice the fake surprise, but only because he was in enough emotional distress over the thought of losing Feyre forever.

Even before he met Feyre, Cassian was replaying the descriptions of Feyre, weak and hungry, hunting for her family and completing the trials. He related to her childhood better than anyone in the Inner Circle. Someone with that kind of spirit, he thought, would be perfectly suited to Rhys.

By the time Feyre and Rhys were mated, the Inner Circle was more than ready to call her family.

ooooh of course❤️ here you go:

the leathery membrane is perfect for being drawn on

and once Feyre realises that she will play with the thought of asking Rhys to be allowed to do it

she knows how Illyrian males are when it comes to their wings and how sensitive the wings are and even though Rhys is her mate she has some hesitation

before she has always painted just Rhys on a canvas, but now he was going to be used as a canvas?

but she will still address it some day and Rhys immediately loves the idea

it includes his wings, Feyre and painting - what better thing could happen to him

they will choose a calm moment, where Nyx is with his aunts and uncles and stay in their bedroom

it is an intimate moment and Rhys wants to be their bed chamber for it

he summons his wings, flares them while he lies on the bed, his face placed on the pillow

Feyre will be careful and gentle, touching him ever so slightly, but obviously the arousal will rise inside of Rhys

Acotar Crack Headcanons

In which Reader introduces gold star stickers in the bedroom. Reader x everybody. Poly type deal. And it is most definitely a competition. There are sticker charts. Gold prize - for the male with the most stickers? A week alone with reader. No interruptions. No sharing.

Azriel:

Confused at first

When he realizes he’d be SO into the competition element

So competitive

“How many does this get me” as he’s just pounding

“And this?”

It devolves because you stop being able to give him stickers

“What about this, baby? What if you can’t walk tomorrow? How many stickers do I get then?”

You can’t do a damn thing about it as the sticker sheets fall from your hand

But when you’re done

The two of you curled up together

You take the whole sheet and start giving him stickers, one by one

He’s smirking as you line them up in rows along his chest and arms

Then you finally put one on his nose, grinning as you recall the feeling of his head between your legs

“It was that good, huh? Maybe we’d better try to one up ourselves. See how many stickers I earn from you then.”

He goes out that day to buy his own sticker sheets

Likes to give them to you too

Gives himself gold stars for how often he can make you moan

“STICKERS? SAY LESS”

Adds his own prizes to the mix

Is competitive but really just cares about making you feel GOOD

The stickers and prizes are just a bonus.

Walks around shirtless just to show off his stickers

“These are my rewards! Don't you like them?”

He has a sticker chart on the back of the bathroom door where he collects his stickers at the end of each day.

Eventually he just starts sticking them to random things around the house - mirrors, his daggers, the kitchen cabinets.

Lucien:

You give him a sticker on the forehead during oral

his little mechanical eye like gleams at you as he SMIRKS

he’s like 'hmm what's this?"

He takes one off the sheet and does his little smirk and the star just GLOWS

he sticks it on you down there

because he LOVES TO EAT

gives a little predatory grin as he crawls over you to move to the next thing

Tamlin:

Gets distracted by you placing the sticker on his shoulder

Pauses mid thrust

“No no dont stop”

“What… what is that?”

“It’s a sticker. You’re doing a good job. Keep going”

“... what?”

He’s so confused

He doesn’t keep moving

You take the sticker back - “You stopped moving. You stop. You lose the sticker.”

He does NOT like the stickers

“Please put them away.”

He’s very butthurt over losing his only sticker

Immediately flaccid

Rhys:

Isn’t a part of the competition

That male is interested in Feyre and Feyre ONLY

Hears about the competition from Azriel

Immediately goes to Feyre

“We need to buy gold star stickers.”

“Why?”

“Trust me, Darling. Gold. Stickers.”

Your next visit to the river house becomes an adventure of finding all the places where the two of them left stickers while Rhys grins and Feyre rolls her eyes with a laugh

Your favorite find is under the tablecloth, where it’s next to a golden paint smear

“We recreated our mating night for the anniversary,” Rhys whispers to Cassian conspiratorially

He’s intentionally loud enough for all of you to hear

He doesn’t really understand the rules 

He just likes the idea of putting the stickers everywhere him and Feyre fucked so he can show off.

Nyx Headcanons

Headcanons for my favorite little bean, because we don't talk about him enough.

He 100% inherits Rhys's "earth-shattering" power. That extra chapter where Feyre and Rhys were deciding on a name and basically felt powers shifting in the Force when Nyx came up makes me firmly believe that.

He's a good, sweet kid but also goes through a few phases where he's an absolute nightmare to raise through no fault of his own. Nyx is a happy baby, but has zero concept of his power when it starts to show, leaving one very tired High Lord and High Lady when he shatters a window in his nursery when wiggling his arms excitedly.

He's an intuitive little guy though and very quickly figures out he needs to be careful when Feyre and Rhys try to teach him to get a handle on that power. He learns this the hard way after accidentally nightmisting one of his toys.

Nobody for the life of them can figure out why he adores cranky Auntie Amren so much. Though he's not old enough to explain it, he thinks she's another child to play with. Cassian suggests this and Amren nearly rips his head off.

Nyx is a full-fledged mama's boy. He adores Feyre and is a complete snugglebug with her. He's also very protective of his mama.

That said, he idolizes his dad too and copies everything he does. He follows Rhys around and mimics everything, right down to trying to copy the High Lord's graceful swagger. Feyre, naturally, absolutely melts at the sight of him waddling after his dad with one hand in his pocket looking too cool for school on his tiny little legs.

Nyx is obsessed with Starfall, and his first-ever painting is a finger painting of him with his parents under those stars. Rhys gets misty-eyed when he sees it.

He's besties with Kallias and Viviane's little snow angel. The fact they're the same age is perfect--when the grown-ups are too boring tending to one courtly matter or the other, Nyx and his friend can easily pass the time playing in the snow. Nyx already has met his match in the realm of snowball fighting, and takes a new tactic or two back to absolutely wallop his uncles. Rhys could not be more proud of this fact.

Nyx takes his role as Eldest Cousin very seriously, but there's one cousin in particular who absolutely does not and will not listen to a word he says. Guess whose kid that cousin is.

Nyx takes a little too much after his mother sometimes in that he befriends every semi-civil demon-thing or dark spirit that walks the face of the earth. To Uncle Cassian's absolute horror, Nyx is apparently friends with Bryaxis...and Bryaxis loves this kid.

Hear me out… Nyx’s first word is Nesta (or to be more precise: “Nes” while pointing at her and giggling). Do I think this will happen in canon? No way in hell; it’s probably something boring like “Ma” or “Dada” in a future bonus chapter (just kidding… or am I? Let’s face it, this screams bonus chapter material).

I’m into this headcanon for the pure CHAOS and comedy of it all. Rhys is incandescent with fury but forced to be outwardly happy around Nyx, praising his son for his first word. Feyre is a little disappointed but too thrilled with how intelligent her baby is (idk maybe he starts speaking two months ahead of schedule or something). Cassian starts chanting “Cas” at the baby to no avail — Nyx just stares at him blankly and repeats “Nes” confusedly again. Elain smiles and says that it’s only fitting considering how Aunty Nesta was responsible for Nyx’s safe delivery.

Azriel stays quiet and is the only person to hear Rhys mutter that maybe Nyx was trying to say his own name and that baby X’s sound like S’s. Right then, Nyx screams “Nes!!!” again and toddles into Nesta’s arms. Azriel fails to keep a straight face at Rhys’s quiet rage while Feyre is furiously lecturing her mate via mindspeak. Amren and Mor are sipping on glasses of wine, mentally promising themselves to continue a child-free existence for the rest of eternity.

Bonus: Nesta is shocked but privately very gratified. She hasn’t been trying to teach Nyx to say her name, unlike some members of the Inner Circle. But she takes this memory and holds it close to her heart for the rest of her life. 🥹

(I do not think any of this actually happens, but the Nyx vs Nes sound similarity is too good to ignore. It SHOULD be canon. Think of the comedy, Sarah!!!)

Thinking about how each of the Archeron husbands would be a crying mess watching their beloveds walk down the aisle and it’s making me hella emotional 😭

Rhys’s lips are trembling so hard and he’s trying to wipe his eyes as fast as possible so he doesn’t miss a second of his Feyre darling beaming at him.

Cassian is sniffling so loudly (“It’s the flowers.” he wails) and Nesta’s smile at his antics is the only thing keeping him from breaking down completely.

Lucien has to take a few deep breaths before he turns around and it’s those silent, joyful tears streaming down his face and Elain’s giving him a warning look through her own teary eyes because he if doesn’t stop, she’ll start crying and then the feelings will overwhelm them both.

And they’re all so happy and so excited to spend the rest of the lives with their loves 😭

Feyre and Rhys are very adamant about getting reader pregnant- they try as often as you let them, and they're both firm believers that an omegas pleasure increases fertility

Your scent changes slowly, but once it's noticeable the two of them are all over you, constantly scenting you

Doctors visits are a weekly occurance for you, sometimes twice a week if one of them is fussing over a symptom you're having (usually Rhys)

Morning sickness is no joke, and one if not both of them are always there, holding your hair back

If one of them leaves your side for more than an hour or leaves the house, they bring you back a gift or treat.

Once you start having cravings, Feyre and Rhys go above and beyond to get you what you need- including cooking or baking for you (well, Feyre sits on the counter with you and looks cute/gives you aaall of the attention while the two of you watch Rhys)

When you sleep, Rhys and Feyre sleep on either side of you, Rhys closest to the door. They keep one hand on your bump at all times no matter which position you sleep in.

Once they can hear the baby's heartbeat, Feyre spends at least a half an hour with her ear to your stomach listening every day. When Rhys is feeling stressed and tired, the two of you curl up on a couch together, with you sitting on one end (with a pillow, of course) and Rhys laying with his head on your lap and an ear against your tummy.

They become even more protective, even going as far as to growl at any alphas that enter your bakery, until you finally break and put an end to it. They grovel a bit, and tone down their aggression towards everyone who comes within ten feet of you.

Once you start nesting, Feyre is always with you. She helps you do everything, coaxes you to eat and forces you to bathe even if she has to drag you from your nest (as much as it hurts her to hear you cry). Rhys brings replacements of fabrics every few days, and they switch them out while you're asleep. Rhys brings food for the both of you, and anything he thinks of that you might want- from cute stuffies to books to tea and treats.

You start having emotional outbursts after a couple of months, mainly over your alphas- how cute, pretty, sexy they are, if they get you something you cry about it until they hold you and stroke your hair.

When you're finally in labor, Feyre and Rhys are absolute messes. They take turns sitting behind you and supporting your body, but for every tear you shed, they shed one too (or more).

I'm just obseeeessed with these threeee I'm so excited for everything about this series! I can't wait for possessive, jealous Feyre and worry wart Rhys. I love them so much alreadyyy and I haven't even written them yeeeet

Goodness, me too Anon. What really gets me is just imagining the two greatest Illyrian warriors sitting cross legged on the floor in front of their nephew, cacooning themselves in their wings and then popping their heads out with goofy expressions because it makes Nyx laugh 🥺

Or of Feysand version where Rhys has Nyx in his lap and he wraps them both up in his wings, giggling conspirationally to each other as Feyre calls "where did Rhys and Nyx go?" only for both of them to jump out and "surprise" her while pulling silly faces.
