Hey. I’m a Shadow fictive and your analysis resonated so. Sorry for fictive-dumping on your post.

The thing with me and Sonic is we have completely different philosophies. We are both strong and have strong moral compasses. I guess we both have trauma, in our own ways. The thing is, my trauma defines me (kind of, it’s complicated, you let it go but it always stays with you, etc). Sonic is who he is regardless of trauma, kind of. He does what he does because that’s who he is, whereas I do what I do as a conscious choice. I refuse to let the world ignore the darkness, he refuses to let the world forget the light.

Basically, he’s a force of nature, I’m the ultimate lifeform.

BUT! i don’t think that’s possible because of how shadow and knuckles differ from each other and how their rivalry operates!

son/knux is a sort of dudebro silly and cute rivalry that’s purely just them messing around where little to no harm or moral compass is involved. they’re friends who make fun of each other and rough house

son/shad is a uh… ego competition? maybe something deeper like some weird thing about them both having the same abilities while simultaneously having contrasting personalities? idk depends on interpretation/depiction, but it’s not like son/knux. completely different

son/knux rivalry doesn’t have any personal meaning they’re just goofing around! <3

how i would personally go about it is sonic and shadow would have to go through (another) life and death event together or some kind of emotional journey to dissect where their dynamic comes from, perhaps parallel stuff that happened in sa2. sonic and shadow slowly, but surely find out “hey this guy ain’t that bad!!” and it just goes from there. their dynamic wouldn’t be all dudebro but their rivalry won’t disappear neither. shadow isn’t like knuckles at the end of the day. it’s hard for me to put it in words but like??? they would just be friends?? they would be snarky and stuff but in a completely different way idk..

i’m bad at character analysis i give up all three of them should just hold hands idk what to tell you. go figure it out urself
