Bardø's Camera Rig

For some time I enjoyed taking screenshots in Sims 4 more than actually playing the game, but something that always bothered me, was that there is no real photo mode like in other games. Sure you can get far with the cinematic cam, but even the cinematic cam is limited (can't rotate the camera and thus not take 'vertical' or tilted screenshots) and sometimes its just buggy (messing up rotations, clipping objects while moving the camera). I was looking for mods, that would add a better camera or an object that would work as camera, but I had no luck. So some day I found out, that you could set camera points while being in first person mode and it would save everything I could ask for. So instead of mods or objects, I figuered out, that sims would be the perfect camera and after messing around for some time I created a rig for blender, that is 95% accurate and now I want to share this rig, to help this community to create even better screenshots, than it already does.

So how does this work?

You need:

- Blender

- Sims 4 Studio

- Basic knowledge of creating poses and exporting/importing poses from/into posepacks.

- Download the rig and extract it from the zip and move the files of the tray folder to your own tray folder.

- Open up a pose in blender, delete the already existing camera and append the camera_rig + camera into the scene. If the rig looks like on the first thumbnail, then you did it right.

- Move the camera_rig so, that it wouldnt be in the shot later.

- Now move the camera by moving the 'b_neck' bone of the camera_rig.

- If you want, you can rotate the 'b_neck' bone, to rotate the camera

- To get a preview of the shot, just press 0 on the numpad and then alt+F10. If you're playing Sims 4 fullscreen, press alt+F11 aswell. Make sure you don't see the rectangle of the camera by zooming in, but stop zooming in as soon you don't see the rectangle anymore.

- If you have 'b_neck' still selected, you can move and rotate the camera, while being in preview. Press 0 to leave the camera, press alt+F10 to get back the interface and press alt+F11 to leave fullscreen mode.

- As soon you are happy with your shot, LocRot the camera_rig, just like you would with every other rig and save.

- Make sure every rig is saved separately and import them into your posepack. I always put a 'CAM' behind the name of the pose with the camera_rig.

- Get into the game. Open your gallery items and add the sim "CAMERA RIG" to your household (enable custom content). The sim CAMERA RIG will act as camera.

- Let the camera-sim pose the 'CAM'-pose. Depending on how much the 'b_neck' bone was moved/rotated around, the camera-sim might look completely messed up, thats totally fine.

- Now get into the first person mode (shift+tab), don't move around with your mouse or zoom in ( if you did, just press ctrl or re-enter the first person mode).

- You should see that the view is kinda like the preview in blender, but the FOV is not right. Don't worry you did nothing wrong.

- Now you have to set a camera point by pressing ctrl+5/6/7/8.

- Leave the first person mode and move the camera-sim away or make the camera-sim pose, if the sim is supposed to.

- If every sim is posing like they're suppose to, get into the cinematic cam by pressing tab and press shift+5/6/7/8.

- If you did everything right, you should now (almost) see the same shot, you saw in blender.

- Take screenshot.

Yes, because these are the people who are chairing the Earthshot Prize and have positions of power outside of Earthshot as well. Like, these aren't just faceless people, they have names and are openly associated with Prince William and the Earthshot Prize. If they were just nominees or "sources" maybe that would be more dubious, but if you Google them, you can find pictures of Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac with William and other members of the BRF.

I don't think they would be wasting their time talking about Harry and Meghan's Netflix documentary without William, or someone he trusted at Earthshot, giving it the okay. You're not just allowed to run your mouth to the press on a whim if you're associated with a royal charity, usually, these things are planned out or briefed beforehand.

i got into the fandom at the beginning of this year and literally all I heard about dream before was negative. the big thing i was aware of (and the cheating but who cares) was the pride donation thing. i feel like that got spread very widely on twitter specifically. the way it was for me was that i got into corpse, watched some videos of him hanging out with karl, googled karl and found out he was on the dsmp and figuered that i should maybe finally check out this dream guy i keep hearing about

the pride dono thing still upsets me so bad ITS SO FUCKING EASILY FACT CHECKED 😭😭 so so so stupid and such bullshit ugh twitter is such a shitty platform everyone on there hops on bandwagons w zero critical thinking or fact checking

L’Escala - Barcelona - Mequinenza

Tuesday morning dawned drizzly and overcast again. Poor Jose got drenched cycling to pick up Tessi to take her to Figueres for a service. I faired much better and went to a spin class before crash tackling the rest of the washing and packing up of the apartment. I have to say though trying to get sheets and towels dried on a day like today is no mean feat.

In the afternoon we did manage a break to watch Tour of the Alpes. Later in the afternoon the new bed was delivered and around 5-6pm the weather cleared up.

Of course Wednesday dawned a glorious day to see us off! Today we had a few mishaps and cock ups. We left a little bit later than expected (and Jose was being abused by the delivery men because we were loading Tessi in front of our apartment block). Then we stopped for petrol and Jose decided to check the tyre pressures. We had finished and I was ready to guide him out and saw another motorhome waiting to do the same so I hussled Jose along. This meant I was handed the phone to put the address of the parking station in. Not realising there were two parking stations I just saw an address and put it into google maps.

So we get to the outskirts of Barcelona and get a turn wrong, which meant it took us ages to twig to the fact that we were headed to the wrong place. Long story short we then had a drama when we reached the right parking station and were over an hour late to meet Sam and Isi for lunch. Thankfully they were enjoying the sun and a drink so weren’t at all phased.

We then spent a very pleasant afternoon catching up over lunch. The only downside was the wind in Barcelona which seemed to have lots of grit and god knows what in it as we were all sneezing and coughing and it got in your eyes.

Late in the day we strolled back to pick up Tessi and started our drive towards Madrid. Jose already had a campground in mind and that was where we headed. It’s been fun to be back in Tessi and on the road again, but apologies I need to clean the windows as the picture quality isn’t great.

As we weren’t 100% sure how the day would go we hadn’t booked at the campground. We arrived a little after 8.30pm and there was no one in sight or answering the phone numbers on the door. The gate was however open so we have parked, had dinner and are now sitting up in bed. We’re assuming we won’t get evicted in the middle of the night, but who knows.

first of all thank you very very much for your interest. it’s very important for us to have allies in other countries, because we will need you to help us.

Here’s a little list of how you can help us Catalans from outside Catalonia!

1. Stay informed and talk about it with your friends.Spread the word, amplify our voices. Let the world know that human rights are been violated against the Catalan people. You can read trustworthy news in English on Col·lectiu Emma’s website (they’re a non-profit org that works to tell the world the situation of the Catalan people), and the newspapers Vilaweb and CataloniaToday.

Share information about what’s going on on your social media, so more people can see it.

Here’s some Facebook pages in English (some of these sometimes post in other languages as well): ANC USA / ANC England / look for ANC + your own country or city, Col·lectiu Emma, Americans for Catalonia, Vilaweb News from Catalonia in English, Catalan News.

Twitter: ANC International, Catalan News, Col·lectiu Emma, Vilaweb English.

2. Send letters to the political prisoners or those on exile. They’ve been there for months and have expressed many times how encouraging letters are what keeps their hopes up in their hard situation, and since they aren’t allowed internet nor anything like that in jail, letters are their only way of communication. I’m sure that getting a letter from someone from outside Catalonia will make them very happy. Learn more about the prisoners in the website Us Volem a Casa (in English, Spanish, and Catalan)

Here are their addresses in jail. It’s very important that you write your whole return address and that you don’t include anything more than paper inside the envelope, because the jail staff uses any minimal opportunity to not deliver them their letters.

3. If you can, consider donating to the main non-profit organisations fighting for the rights of Catalan people and the liberation of the political prisoners.

Òmnium Cultural: an independent organisation that since 1961 has helped to promote the Catalan language and culture (even during the dictatorship, when Catalan was strictly banned! These people have done A LOT), social cohesion, and these last years have leadered the independence process. Their president, Jordi Cuixart, is imprisoned by the Spanish government in Madrid since October 2017, without a trial, and only for having organised a peaceful protest. Click here to donate. The website is in Catalan so I can guide you throught it: you have to write the amount of euros you want to donate and click “següent” (“next”) and fill up your details (you can use google translate).

Assemblea Nacional Catalana (ANC): the most important pro-independence organisation. Their president, Jordi Sànchez, is also imprisoned under the same circumstances as Òmnium’s president. Together with Òmnium, they have been organising the protests, informative talks, prepared a lot of things to make sure everybody could vote in the referendum, pressuring politicians to listen to the people, etc. They have hundreds of volunteers in every area. Definitely the best pro-independence organisation. To donate, pay in what you want in the account number you can find in their website.

Association of the families of the political prisoners: the prisoners are kept in Madrid, far away from Catalonia, which prevents their relatives from being able to afford to visit them on the jail’s visit days. The relatives have organized in an association called Associació Catalana pels Drets Civils. All the donations go to paying for the travel expenses to visit their relatives in jail or exile from time to time, and a smaller part to providing for the prisoners’ children in the cases where they can’t live with only the salary of 1 parent. For international donations, this is their bank swift code: CDENESBBXXX. And inside Spain’s borders it’s ES71 3025 0001 1814 3359 2190.

Plataforma per la Llengua: an NGO that works to promote the Catalan language. They do a great job in helping immigrants learn the language and get more integrated, and also help older people (who were raised during the dictatorship and so can’t write/read their mother language) learn Catalan. This is not directly linked to the politics you’ll hear about on TV, but after 300 years where Spain has been constantly trying to suppress our language, still speaking it is a revolutionary act. And it makes the fascists angry. Here to donate.

4. Get organized. Check out if there’s an ANC or CDR organization in your country, city or region, and get in touch with them. Volunteer if you can, or sign up to known when they’re planning events so you can help or at least attend.

In your case, anon, since you’re from the UK maybe there’s events you can attend to support Clara Ponsatí, one of the exiles who is in Scotland.

5. Send letters to the European leaders and ask them to make a move. The European Union shouldn’t allow one of its member states, Spain, to commit such human rights violations. In this PDF, made by Associació Catalana pels Drets Civils, you will find example letters you can use written for each leader in their country’s language. Here’s some addresses:

Cute Airbnb and Salvador Dali.

So yesterday morning we left our cute Airbnb to head towards another cute Airbnb. We ended up driving all the way to Girona to get there for a late lunch, just some basic salad and steak and potatos. We sat on these Cathedral steps whike the most beautiful busker played violin. It was magical.

We walked around for a bit and almost went into a museum/church thing but decided to come back another day and do it properly (we had paid parking and still had to drive to our place for the night) so we got gelato and just explored the rest of the streets. Again, for the game of thrones fans, Girona is the streets of Bravos!

So we headed over to our Airbnb, which is a 3 story old building in a tiny mediaeval village, right next to a church. It's got alot of rooms (apparently when it's full there's like 27 people here; and only 2 bathrooms) but we got a ground floor one with these gorgeous stone walls and a pallet bed. I'll put some photos of it because it's so rustic and authentic. After we settled in a little bit we drove back down to a nearby town to see the food options... It wasn't great so we hit the supermarkets. And I say supermarkets as there was literally 6 huge (mostly ALDI style) supermarkets all in the same block. I will touch on this subject more at the end of the trip but we were able to get some great seafood and a local seasonal vegetable called calcot (like a big sweet spring onion)

So we headed home (finding we did have some company in the big house afterall, but they were really nice) and cooked up a big saffron seafood soup with grilled cheese toast and salad. It was so yummy.

In the morning we slept in and took it easy, but ended up going out for a late breakfast as there were some people around cleaning and doing maintenance work on the place. So we drove to a town called Olot and literally went to the first restaurant we walked past. It looked pretty fancy but wasn't expensive. We had a duck cannelloni with bechamel. Grilled calcot with a romesco sauce. Rabbit in garlic oil with potato's. And local sausage with Pau beans (local to Catalonia) and salsa verde.

It was delicious! It was really great to have a proper Catalan meal. And only 28euro

So to walk off all this food we hiked about 20mins to the top of a (non-active) volcano (1 of 4 in the area) with a crater in the top. Wasn't huge but it was cool.

Then we drove about 40mins to a town called Figueres, where we went to the theatre-museum Dali, as in Salvador Dali. It was truely incredible. Very busy at the start. We got a little annoyed as there were a lot people, in particular school kids, who were pretty inconsiderate, and just couldn't seem to put their phone down and actually look at the art.... But that's a rant for another day. The building was several levels all circular around a circular open courtyard in the centre.

Apart of the ticket included entry to Salvador's jewelry work which are items made by a jeweller based off of his designs.

We spent almost 2 hours there all up.

So then we tried to go to a place nearby called Castell de Sant Ferran, which was a military castle with these cool walls in this star like shape. Unfortunately it closed alot earlier than google said so we just walked around the edge of it. It was very windy but a good walk. We had heaps of soup leftover from last night so we just picked up some extras for dinner and headed home.

We grilled up the calcots we'd gotten yesterday, cooked up some silver beet and had the soup with grilled cheese toast again. Perfect meal.

Barcelona: Food, Day Trips & Boating Naked With Priests

The streets of Barcelona – mainly the ones that barely show up on Google Maps – know me and have led me to some of the most outrageous people, some of the most choice cava, and some of my most reckless travel moments. There was a midnight in Barcelona where I biked up Tibidabo with a sex worker and poet, and an afternoon where I ended up naked borratxo on a boat in the middle of the Mediterranean, looking at what I swear had to be the beginnings of Africa with a guy who said he was a priest and a computer coder who slept beneath me in the hostel. There’s definitely more in the city for me to discover, and as soon as I touch foot to Catalonian earth again, I’ll go a bit deeper.

These Catalonian streets have led me to create these lists to get your trip started.

FOOD:

1. La Alcoba Azul: Carrer de Sant Domenec Del Call, 14 The Caipirinhas are the second best I’ve had in the world – the first being mine – and after eating every pork-less thing on the menu, it’s important I tell you there are no bad decisions. Eat inside the restaurant if you want, but outside is much better.

2. Can Margarit: Carrer de la Concòrdia, 21 Damn shame what I did to that rabbit. This recommendation came from Bella, my Spanish seatmate on the quick flight from Lisbon. She promised I’d love it, based on how I went on and on about the foods I loved most in the city we’d just left. We met outside the Poble Sec metro station and walked over, hands tight on our pockets, praying no one pickpocketed the money we’d need to eat.

3. Picnic: Carrer del Comerç, 1 Traveling with a vegan is, in some cities, one of my least favorite things to do when the hunger comes. It always means we gotta look a little harder for bites. All other times, they’re fine. Especially when it comes to sharing food – they don’t touch mine. Poor Lavonda! But she was a good sport, and “I’ll find something on nay menu” became her mantra. Picnic had everything for everyone and brunch food is never ever ever a bad idea. Best thing I had: pancakes with crème fraiche and fried green tomatoes.

4. La Pepita: Carrer de Còrsega, 343 “There’s always a line. Trust lines,” the drunk priest said. I trusted the drunk priest, shot him a WhatsApp message to see if he’d join, but when he didn’t answer, I assumed he was hugging a less-than-fancy Barcelona toilet. I walked from my hostel in Passeig de Gracia and joined the line. A party of three was at the front, so I told a few jokes and it quickly became a party of four, sitting inside, eating The Golden Pepita, Marinated Salmon, Roasted Octopus, and Roasted Artichoke with Blue Cheese. Feeling swollen as hell, we walked next door to…

And because you’re like me and believe in having a drink in every new city, stop by Casa Bacardi and learn the history of Barcadi while sipping a mojito – or whatever you drink.

Figueres: (1:44 minutes) To be honest, I didn’t find much to do here except eat fartons, drink warm chocolates, frolic in fields just below mountains, and have my mind blown by the absolutely must-see Teatre-Museu Gala Salvador Dalí, the museum of Dali’s work designed by Dali himself. Do yourself this favor.

Costa Brava: (Stay til sunset) Catalonia’s coastal region stretches from Blanes to the border of France. This drive is perfect in warm months, stopping every so often, long enough to at least dip a toe in. Take in the breeze, passing through Alt Emporda, Baix Emporda, and Selva. Thank me later.

And when you’re full and your eyes have seen as much as they can possibly take in one day, I hope you fall in love with someone who teaches you to Flamenco in the middle of the Gothic Quarter around 2am while you’re both drunk on the cava, wondering where to find small fried fish.

WHERE I’VE SLEPT & WOULD SLEEP AGAIN:

I don’t feel the need to go into detail about how great these places are individually. In each of them, I’ve made new friends, made travel partners I vibe well with, drank plenty of beer and tequila, and solidified my belief that most people are good. Each of these places were located in extremely safe areas and each were in walking distance to everything I wanted to see (I also love to walk, so everything is walking distance to me). I recommend each of these places, but only if your energy and vibe are as dope as the true travelers I know.

Bezos and Zuckerberg Take Their Pitches to Washington

WASHINGTON — Two of the technology industry’s leading figures descended on Washington on Thursday as their companies face growing political pressure.

The executives, Jeff Bezos of Amazon and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, showed up for different reasons, and in different places. Mr. Bezos led a morning event at the National Press Club, announcing a commitment by Amazon to be carbon neutral by 2040. Later, Mr. Zuckerberg met with President Trump and held discussions on Capitol Hill about election security, privacy and other issues.

But their presence in Washington highlighted a shared need to try to reshape the public debate about their companies. Amazon and Facebook, as well as Google and Apple, face a variety of broad investigations into their power and influence.

This week, lawmakers held two hearings that focused largely on the industry. One was on the spread of extremism online. In the other, lawmakers urged the country’s top antitrust regulators, who were testifying before them, to be aggressive in their oversight of tech companies.

Senator Josh Hawley, a Republican from Missouri, said it was time for the companies to be more upfront with the public.

“We’ve had a lot of talk from Facebook, and we have a troubling pattern, when they’re up on the Hill, of them saying things that turn out to be either very misleading or at the end of the day it’s just not true or they just don’t follow through on it,” Mr. Hawley said.

Amazon, in addition to the scrutiny from regulators, has faced increasing criticism from its own employees, many of whom say the company needs to do more to combat climate change. More than 1,500 are expected to walk out of work to push their case on Friday, a day of planned climate-related strikes around the world.

The workers have prodded Amazon on three issues: that the company have zero emissions by 2030, that it stop offering custom cloud-computing services that help the oil and gas industry find and extract more fossil fuels and that it stop giving campaign donations to politicians who deny climate change is happening.

Mr. Bezos outlined a plan to reduce the company’s carbon footprint, and instead of joining existing alliances working on climate change, he announced a new effort, Climate Pledge, and said he would push other organizations to join.

To help meet its goal, Mr. Bezos said, Amazon is ordering 100,000 electric delivery trucks from Rivian, a Michigan company in which Amazon invested $440 million in February.

Mr. Bezos introduced the Climate Pledge alongside Christiana Figueres, who was an architect of the landmark Paris climate agreement while at the United Nations. To limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) above preindustrial levels, the world’s total emissions of carbon dioxide must be reduced to net zero by around 2050, climate scientists have said. Mr. Trump withdrew the United States from the accord in 2017.

“Whatever Amazon does does not stay within Amazon,” Ms. Figueres said. “It has a much bigger impact.”

But Mr. Bezos punted on many of the workers’ specific demands. Amazon would still continue to sell its cloud services to the oil and gas industry, he said. And while the company is taking a “hard look” at whether its political donations are going to “active climate deniers,” Mr. Bezos stopped short of saying the company would not give them more money in the future.

“We’re going to work hard for energy companies, and in our view we’re going to work very hard to make sure that as they transition that they have the best tools possible,” he said.

Emily Cunningham, a designer at Amazon who helped organize the walkout, praised Amazon for taking action on climate change. But she said the employees would proceed with their walkout plans on Friday and continue to press on these issues.

“Climate leadership is not compatible with actively helping fossil fuel companies extract oil and gas faster,” she said. “Scientists say that to avoid catastrophic warming, we must keep fossil fuels in the ground.”

Many other tech companies, like Google, have also made environmental promises. Amazon’s impact on the climate is more complicated than the impact that many of its tech peers have, in part because of its vast operation moving products into and out of its warehouses and to the doorsteps of customers. The data centers at the heart of its cloud computing services also need power to stay cool, and those services help customers in many industries, including energy companies.

The company’s annual carbon footprint is about 44.4 million metric tons — the equivalent of almost 600,000 tanker trucks’ worth of gasoline — according to data it released Thursday for the first time, after what it said was years of complex analysis.

That takes into account the production of Amazon’s own brands, like its Echo devices and AmazonBasics batteries, but apparently not the manufacturing footprint of the other products it sells. Walmart has pushed suppliers to be more accountable for their emissions.

Emissions from a retailer’s supply chains are typically 10 to 11 times the emissions of its own operations, said Bruno Sarda, the president of CDP North America, a nonprofit that pushes for more environmental disclosures and commitments at companies.

He said Amazon’s carbon footprint put the company “in the top 150 or 200 emitters in the world,” alongside major energy companies and heavy-industry firms.

Mr. Zuckerberg came to Washington to meet with lawmakers who have raised numerous concerns about Facebook. It was his first such visit since April 2018, when he testified about privacy and the spread of disinformation on the social network.

“He also had a good, constructive meeting with President Trump at the White House today,” a Facebook spokesman, Andy Stone, said in a statement on Thursday. Mr. Trump later wrote on Twitter that he and Mr. Zuckerberg had a “nice meeting” in the Oval Office.

The get-togethers began on Wednesday night, when Mr. Zuckerberg met with Senator Maria Cantwell of Washington, the top Democrat on the powerful Commerce Committee, which is trying to pass consumer privacy legislation this year.

He dined that night at Ris, a restaurant in downtown Washington, with a group of senators convened by Senator Mark Warner, a Virginia Democrat and one of the company’s most outspoken critics.

“The participants had a discussion touching on multiple issues, including the role and responsibility of social media platforms in protecting our democracy, and what steps Congress should take to defend our elections, protect consumer data and encourage competition in the social media space,” said Rachel Cohen, a spokeswoman for Mr. Warner. The group also discussed Libra, Facebook’s controversial cryptocurrency.

Mr. Zuckerberg is scheduled to meet Friday with Representative Jerrold Nadler of New York, the Democratic chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and Representative David Cicilline, Democrat of Rhode Island, according to two people familiar with the matter who were not authorized to speak on the record. The antitrust subcommittee led by Mr. Cicilline is investigating Facebook and other tech giants — and recently requested some of Mr. Zuckerberg’s communications.

On Thursday, throngs of reporters and photographers trailed Mr. Zuckerberg as he visited the offices of several lawmakers, including Senator Mike Lee of Utah, the Republican chairman of the Senate’s antitrust subcommittee, and Senator Tom Cotton, Republican of Arkansas.

Senator Hawley of Missouri said he had told Mr. Zuckerberg that Facebook should sell both Instagram and WhatsApp to address privacy and competition concerns. Facebook recently announced plans to integrate those services more directly with the rest of the company.

“I think it’s safe to say that he was not receptive to those suggestions,” Mr. Hawley said.

I just recently passed my driving test and I'm completely taken away by the prices I've saw for car insurance on my parents Astra, I'm getting prices up at 7K. President Donald Trump said he would withdraw the U.S. from the Paris climate pact, saying it favors other nations at the expense of American workers, a move that angered European allies, corporate executives and religious leaders.

“We are getting out, but we will start to negotiate and we will see if we can make a deal, and if we can, that’s great,” Trump said Thursday, arguing the pact benefits China and India. “And if we can’t, that’s fine.”

Trump’s announcement spurns pleas from corporate executives, world leaders and even Pope Francis who warned the move imperils a global fight against climate change.
