Fluff: 2. “Stop looking at me like that” “I can’t help it, you’re just so beautiful” w/ Nolan Patrick
Tumblr media
Honeymoon
It's our second day of our honeymoon and we are currently in Amalfi, Italy. I woke up before Nolan and quickly but quickly, making sure I didn't wake up Nolan made my way to the sitting room which was attached to our room. I grabbed the book off the coffee table and then headed out to the deck.
I didn't even hear Nolan creep his way quietly onto the deck until the lounge chair beside me made the floor boards of the resorts deck creek as he sat down. I look over and Nolan stops himself from fully sitting down, seeing he disturbed me from my book not meaning to, to make his way over to plant a kiss on my forehead but I lean my head backwards so he can connect his lips with mine instead.
"Mornin' beautiful" he says as he pulls away and plops down on the lounger beside me.
"Hi" I smile back closing my book and setting it on the table beside me
"Keep reading, we don't have to go just yet" he assures me.
Today we had plans to hike the coast then afterwards go down to the beach and relax but I really only felt like doing the relaxing part, even though the hike was my idea.
"Can we just go down to the beach and relax instead?"
"No hike?"
"Nah" i say as I stand from my spot, "I'm going to get changed, then we can head down to the restaurant for breakfast" I tell him leaving him out on the deck.
I quickly get changed into a simply white bikini then slide on some light wash jean overalls before grabbing my crochet purse and sliding on some flip flops before heading back out to the deck.
"Ready?" Nolan asks me with a smile and I nod smiling back at him then grab his hand before we leave our villa. We walk hand in hand to the resorts little restaurant to grab a quick bite to eat before heading down to the beach.
The hill was steep and my flip flops were becoming uncomfortable between my toes so I slide them off and began walking barefoot down the rocky road
"What are you doing?" Nolan laughs watching me cautiously walk on the rocky ground
"My feet hurt"
"Well get on my back then" he laughs
"I'm fine" I say being stubborn
"Alright then" he says laughing slightly. As we continue walking down the hill I look over and catch Nolan staring at me grinning as he watches me struggle down the hill.
"Stop looking at me like that" I say to him smiling as I shake my head
"Like what?"
"You're staring at me with a huge grin on your face"
"I can't help it, you're just so beautiful" he says making my cheeks burn red, even married to the man he can still manage to make me blush
"Stop" I say covering my face slightly
"Are you blushing?" Nolan asks me teasingly
"Don't you dare tease me for blushing, rosey cheek boy"
"Hey!" he laughs out
We make it down to the beach and dress down into our bathing suits before I decide to put my feet in the water to heal them from the walk. Nolan races behind me as I made my way picking me up and running me down into the water.
When he drops me I hang on tightly to his shoulders so I don't fall, but instead I lower my self into the water. "You're lucky" I say to him splashing him as I let out a slight giggle
"You're right" he smiles down at me bringing me in close and kissing my lips.

However, crafting that perfect escape can be daunting amidst the myriad of choices and considerations. Enter tailored travel packages—your gateway to a vacation that’s not just a break from routine but a journey tailored specifically to your tastes, interests, and desires. Whether you’re an adventure seeker, a luxury aficionado, or a culture enthusiast, discovering your perfect vacation is just a few steps away with customized travel solutions designed to suit every style best travel agency in kochi
The Magic of Personalized Travel
The essence of a truly memorable vacation lies in its ability to resonate personally with you. Generic travel packages, while convenient, often miss the mark on delivering an experience that feels unique and special. Tailored travel packages, on the other hand, focus on creating an itinerary that aligns with your individual preferences, ensuring that every moment of your trip is both enjoyable and meaningful.
Personalized travel is about more than just choosing a destination; it’s about crafting an experience that reflects who you are and what you seek from your time away. It involves curating every aspect of your journey—from the destinations and accommodations to the activities and dining options—so that they perfectly match your style and expectations.
Finding Your Travel Style
Before diving into the world of tailored travel packages, it’s essential to identify your travel style. Different people have different ideas of what constitutes the perfect vacation, and recognizing your preferences can help in designing an itinerary that will truly delight you.
1. The Adventure Seeker: If you thrive on adrenaline and new experiences, your ideal vacation might include activities like hiking, scuba diving, or zip-lining. Imagine exploring the rugged terrains of Patagonia, scaling the peaks of the Swiss Alps, or embarking on a wildlife safari in Kenya. Tailored packages for adventure seekers often include guided tours, equipment rentals, and accommodations close to action-packed activities.
2. The Luxury Traveler: For those who seek comfort and indulgence, luxury travel is about pampering yourself with high-end accommodations, fine dining, and exclusive experiences. Think private villas in the Maldives, stays at five-star resorts, or dining at Michelin-starred restaurants. Tailored packages for luxury travelers focus on providing the ultimate in comfort and exclusivity, with personal concierge services and bespoke experiences.
3. The Culture Enthusiast: If you’re passionate about history, art, and local traditions, your perfect vacation might involve immersive cultural experiences. Explore ancient ruins in Greece, attend a traditional tea ceremony in Japan, or take a culinary tour through Italy. Customized packages for culture enthusiasts include guided museum tours, cooking classes, and tickets to local events.
4. The Relaxation Seeker: Sometimes, the best vacation is one where you can simply unwind and rejuvenate. For relaxation seekers, the focus is on finding serene locations and indulging in wellness activities. Picture a stay at a tranquil spa resort in Bali, yoga retreats in Thailand, or peaceful beachside relaxation in the Caribbean. Tailored packages often include wellness treatments, meditation sessions, and luxurious accommodations designed for ultimate relaxation.
The Benefits of Tailored Travel Packages
1. Personalized Itineraries: One of the most significant advantages of tailored travel packages is the creation of a personalized itinerary. Travel experts work closely with you to understand your interests and preferences, ensuring that every aspect of your trip aligns with your vision. This means no more sifting through countless options—your itinerary is designed to deliver a seamless and enjoyable experience from start to finish.
2. Exclusive Access and Unique Experiences: Tailored packages often include exclusive access to attractions and experiences that aren’t available to the general public. Whether it’s a private tour of a historic landmark, a special dinner with a local chef, or early access to a popular event, these unique opportunities enhance your travel experience and create unforgettable memories.
3. Stress-Free Planning: Planning a vacation can be time-consuming and stressful. Tailored travel packages alleviate this burden by handling all the details, from booking flights and accommodations to arranging transportation and activities. This allows you to focus on anticipating and enjoying your trip rather than worrying about logistics.
4. Expert Guidance and Support: Travel experts bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, offering valuable advice and recommendations that go beyond what you might find in travel guides. Their expertise ensures that your trip is well-planned, and their support is available throughout your journey, providing assistance if any issues arise.
5. Cost-Effective Solutions: Contrary to popular belief, tailored travel packages can be cost-effective. Travel experts often have access to exclusive deals and discounts, and by bundling services, they can provide value that might not be available when booking components separately. Additionally, personalized planning ensures that you’re investing in experiences that truly matter to you, avoiding unnecessary expenses.
How to Create Your Tailored Travel Experience
Creating your perfect vacation with a tailored travel package begins with a few simple steps:
1. Identify Your Preferences: Start by identifying what you want from your vacation. Consider your interests, desired activities, and any specific requirements or wishes you have. This will help in crafting an itinerary that aligns with your vision.
2. Consult with a Travel Expert: Reach out to a travel expert or agency specializing in tailored packages. Share your preferences and any specific requests you have. They will use this information to design a customized itinerary that meets your needs.
3. Review and Refine: Once you receive your proposed itinerary, review it carefully. Make sure it includes all the activities and experiences you desire, and make any adjustments if needed. This is your opportunity to refine the details and ensure that every aspect of your trip is just right.
4. Enjoy Your Trip: With your tailored travel package in place, you can look forward to a vacation that’s designed specifically for you. Enjoy the personalized experiences, exclusive access, and stress-free planning, knowing that your perfect getaway is ready to unfold.
Your Perfect Vacation Awaits

Tumblr media
Why Choose a Private Villa on the Amalfi Coast?
Unmatched Luxury and Privacy
Staying in a private villa on the Amalfi Coast offers a level of luxury and privacy that is unmatched by hotels or resorts. These villas often come with private pools, expansive terraces, and personalized services such as private chefs and chauffeurs. The seclusion allows guests to fully relax and enjoy their surroundings without the interruptions often found in more crowded accommodations.
Immersive Local Experience
Private villas provide a more authentic and immersive experience of the Amalfi Coast. Many villas are located in charming towns like Positano, Ravello, and Amalfi, allowing guests to live like locals while enjoying stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. The unique architecture and decor of these villas, often featuring traditional Italian designs and modern amenities, add to the overall experience.
Customizable Experience
One of the biggest advantages of staying in a private villa is the ability to customize your stay. Whether you want a villa with direct beach access, a hilltop retreat with panoramic views, or a historic home filled with character, there is a villa to match your preferences. Additionally, personalized services such as bespoke tours, cooking classes, and wellness treatments can be arranged to enhance your stay.
Top Locations for Private Villas on the Amalfi Coast
Positano
Positano is arguably the most iconic town on the Amalfi Coast, known for its pastel-colored houses cascading down the cliffs towards the sea. Private villas in Positano offer stunning views of the town and the Mediterranean. These villas often feature beautiful gardens, infinity pools, and direct access to the beach. Staying in Positano also means easy access to high-end shopping, fine dining, and vibrant nightlife.
Ravello
Ravello, perched high above the coastline, is famous for its panoramic views and lush gardens. This town is ideal for those seeking a more tranquil and refined experience. Private villas in Ravello often boast large terraces, beautiful gardens, and proximity to cultural landmarks such as Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. The serene atmosphere and breathtaking views make Ravello a perfect retreat.
Amalfi
Amalfi, the town that gives the coast its name, is rich in history and charm. Private villas in Amalfi often feature traditional architecture with modern comforts, offering a blend of old-world charm and contemporary luxury. Guests staying in Amalfi have easy access to the town’s historic sites, such as the Amalfi Cathedral, as well as beautiful beaches and excellent dining options.
Praiano
For those looking for a quieter and less touristy destination, Praiano is an excellent choice. This charming fishing village offers stunning views and a more laid-back atmosphere. Private villas in Praiano are often situated on cliffs, providing spectacular sea views and sunsets. The town’s location between Positano and Amalfi makes it a convenient base for exploring the entire coast.
Features and Amenities of Amalfi Coast Private Villas
Spectacular Views
One of the defining features of Amalfi Coast private villas is the spectacular views they offer. Whether overlooking the sea, cliffs, or charming towns, these views are often a highlight of the stay. Many villas are designed to maximize these views with large windows, expansive terraces, and outdoor living spaces.
Private Pools and Gardens
Private pools and gardens are common features of luxury villas on the Amalfi Coast. These amenities provide a perfect setting for relaxation and enjoyment of the stunning surroundings. Infinity pools that blend seamlessly with the sea, lush Mediterranean gardens, and outdoor dining areas are just some of the features you can expect.
Luxurious Interiors
The interiors of Amalfi Coast private villas are designed with luxury and comfort in mind. High-quality furnishings, spacious living areas, fully-equipped kitchens, and elegant bedrooms create a home-away-from-home atmosphere. Many villas also feature unique architectural details, such as vaulted ceilings, arched windows, and intricate tile work, adding to their charm and character.
Personalized Services
To enhance the villa experience, many properties offer personalized services. These can include private chefs, housekeeping, concierge services, chauffeurs, and even private boat rentals. Whether you want a gourmet meal prepared in your villa, assistance with planning excursions, or transportation to nearby attractions, these services ensure a seamless and enjoyable stay.
Tips for Booking a Private Villa on the Amalfi Coast
Start Early
The Amalfi Coast is a popular destination, and private villas are in high demand, especially during the peak season from May to September. To secure the best villa for your needs, it’s advisable to start your search and booking process well in advance. Early booking also often comes with the benefit of better rates and more choices.
Define Your Preferences
Before booking, clearly define your preferences and requirements. Consider the location, size, amenities, and services you desire. Whether you prioritize proximity to the beach, breathtaking views, or a specific town, having a clear idea of what you want will help narrow down your options and make the booking process smoother.
Read Reviews and Do Research
Reading reviews from previous guests can provide valuable insights into the quality and experience of staying at a particular villa. Additionally, doing thorough research on the villa, its location, and the services offered will ensure that you make an informed decision. Trusted booking platforms and agencies often provide detailed descriptions and photos to help you choose the right villa.
Consider Transportation
Transportation can be a key factor in your villa experience. Some villas are more easily accessible by car, while others may require a bit of walking or even boat access. Consider how you plan to get around during your stay and whether the villa provides parking or transportation services. Having a rental car can be beneficial for exploring the Amalfi Coast, but some may prefer the convenience of arranged transportation.
Check for Additional Costs
Be aware of any additional costs that may not be included in the initial booking price. This can include cleaning fees, security deposits, or charges for extra services such as private chefs or chauffeurs. Understanding the full cost upfront will help you budget accordingly and avoid any surprises.
Making the Most of Your Stay
Explore the Local Area
One of the joys of staying in at Amalfi Coast Private Villas is the opportunity to explore the local area. Take time to visit nearby towns, beaches, and attractions. Enjoy leisurely strolls through charming streets, dine at local restaurants, and immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the region.
Enjoy Local Cuisine
The Amalfi Coast is renowned for its delicious cuisine, and staying in a private villa gives you the chance to enjoy it to the fullest. Consider hiring a private chef to prepare traditional Italian meals using fresh, local ingredients. Alternatively, visit local markets and try your hand at cooking in your villa’s fully-equipped kitchen.
Take Advantage of Villa Amenities
Make the most of the amenities offered by your villa. Spend relaxing days by the pool, enjoy al fresco dining on the terrace, and take in the breathtaking views from your private garden. If your villa offers additional services such as spa treatments or cooking classes, be sure to take advantage of these to enhance your experience.
Plan Day Trips
While the villa provides a luxurious retreat, the Amalfi Coast offers plenty of attractions worth exploring. Plan day trips to nearby towns such as Positano, Ravello, and Amalfi. Consider taking a boat tour to explore the coastline from the sea, visit historic sites, or hike the famous Path of the Gods for stunning views.
Relax and Unwind
Above all, remember that your stay at Amalfi Coast Private Villas is an opportunity to relax and unwind. Take time to enjoy the peace and tranquility of your surroundings, disconnect from the stresses of everyday life, and savor the beauty of the Amalfi Coast.
Conclusion
Staying in at Amalfi Coast Private Villas offers a unique and luxurious experience that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty and charm of this stunning region. From the breathtaking views and luxurious amenities to the personalized services and local experiences, a villa stay provides the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. By choosing the right villa, planning your stay carefully, and taking advantage of all the Amalfi Coast has to offer, you can create unforgettable memories and enjoy a truly exceptional holiday.

The best luxury hotel chains in the world
Service and quality are everything for those lucky enough to have the money to splurge on a five-star hotel. Whether you want a chic hotel in central Paris or a luxurious hideaway tucked away in the South American jungle, there are hotel chains that own the best hotels on the globe. Here are the top luxury hotel brands in the world.
Tumblr media
St Regis The St Regis brand began a century ago when John Jacob Astor IV opened a hotel on New York's 55th Street. Tailored service is essential here and in the rest of the group. It currently has over 40 luxury hotels and resorts around the world. Every place from Moscow to Mauritius, Bangkok to Bora Bora has one thing in common: the guest comes first. Tradition and timeless class combine with modern technology and sophistication to create something extraordinary.
Hilton Does the famous model and singer Paris Hilton ring a bell for you? She is the great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, who in 1919 founded the homonymous hotel chain, which also owns other brands in the sector. Present in 106 countries, it has hotels in the most strategic points and the major airports. Business people highly appreciate her. In Italy, the famous Rome Cavalieri Hilton, which dominates the city from the hill of Monte Mario, is one of Rome's most beautiful terraces.
Tumblr media
Four Seasons The Four Seasons has surprisingly humble beginnings for such a major luxury brand. The story began in Toronto in 1961 with the opening of what appeared to be, at least on the surface, an unremarkable motel. Yet, the company's exceptional standards have ensured its rise to its current industry-leading position, redefining hospitality over the years. According to the Four Seasons, the golden rule is "treat others as we would like to be treated ourselves." A long-standing commitment to innovation also sets it apart. It was the first to introduce hair dryers to its guest rooms, offered dry cleaning long before any other hotel, and in 2015, it flew guests in the hotel industry's first private jet.
InterContinental The InterContinental brand is synonymous with quality. This exclusive hotel group offers luxurious services, sumptuously designed rooms, suites, fine dining, and spas. Whether traveling for business or pleasure, seeing the name above the door is a reliable indicator of the luxury you'll find. With hotels in all the best locations – New York, Paris, London, and Hong Kong – the only tricky thing will be choosing which one to book.
Rosewood A rising star at the top end of the market, Rosewood now has over 3,000 rooms worldwide. The chain was founded in 1979 in Dallas, Texas, but can now be found in as many countries as Cambodia, Italy, China, and the United Kingdom. Each property reflects the underlying "Sense of Place" philosophy that draws on the destination's unique history, architecture, and traditions. A key feature at select resorts is the Sense Spa, whose treatments draw heavily on local ingredients and practices.
Tumblr media
Ritz-Carlton The Ritz-Carlton was the brainchild of celebrated hotelier Cesar Ritz, who managed the Ritz in Paris and the Carlton in London. After he died in 1918, his legacy remained, revolutionizing hospitality in America with the opening of the Boston Ritz-Carlton in 1927. The Ritz-Carlton group was born in 1983 with the purchase of that Boston hotel and rights to the name. Today, it's a luxury hotel brand owned by Marriott, operating 91 locations in 30 countries.
Aman The history of this hotel chain is recent and particular. It was born from the desire of the Indonesian entrepreneur Adrian Zecha to build a villa for his holidays on the island of Bora Bora. Not settling for little, he made a structure with many rooms, various services, with a vast garden, and he estimated that it was too much to enjoy alone. He then founded the company today, with a handful of very select luxury hotels, 32 in the world, guaranteeing unique and costly experiences. A room in an Aman hotel can cost as much as buying a house, but it will give you "sovereign" affairs, which, as the hotel motto states, "you only have once in a lifetime."
Fairmont Hotels This luxury hotel chain was born in the 19th century in Canada as an offshoot of the colonial railway corporation! It was necessary to provide accommodation for travelers and workers who worked on the immense railway lines of the country. From those makeshift hotels, already at the beginning of the 20th century, a chain of high-quality hotels was established, present in major Canadian cities and beyond. Mandarin Oriental
The luxury hotel chain that bears this name derives from the history of two chains and eras. The Oriental Hotels were founded in the 19th century in Thailand by an American entrepreneur who went bankrupt in 1910.
On the other hand, Mandarin was born in 1963 in Hong Kong, with entirely different needs, namely to make luxury an opportunity. It was the Mandarin that was the first to have worldwide success, to the point of recovering the old hotels of the Oriental line and unifying the two names into a single brand. Today this company supplies hotels mainly in Europe and Asia. They are also present in China, although with a different word ( Wenhua Donfang.
Six Senses Hotel&Resort This luxury hotel chain is a far cry from the stereotype of the hotel for the rich. They are undoubtedly expensive and high-class hotels, but they arise from a noble need: always respecting the environment. The beginning was that of wellness treatment resorts, with some associated rooms.
Then the brand was successful, and by focusing on eco-sustainability, it established itself in the world, even in the luxury one! In recent years, in addition to resorts, Sex Senses has also begun to manage actual hotels, where the wellness center is just one of the many high-quality services offered to the customer.

Kerala Road Trip
Tumblr media
Walking in Munnar’s tea plantations
The Verdict: We felt Kerala was not bad, but overhyped, egregiously overpriced in December, and not worth the opportunity cost of traveling to a country with good tourist infrastructure (potable water, good roads, access to information for travel planning, decent affordable lodging, competent customer service, etc.).
Why Kerala? We needed to be in south Kerala in late December for a wedding and wanted to tack on a ~week-long vacation somewhere warm and nearby. We had originally hoped to travel to Sri Lanka but changed plans due to the political situation there in 2022. We loved our trip to the Maldives after the last time we were in India, back in 2019, but figured we should try somewhere different this time. Traveling somewhere further like Thailand, Bali, etc. seemed too far/tiring. So we decided to spend our week exploring different parts of Kerala, a state we have long been intrigued by given its renowned progressive politics and high literacy rate, the famous backwaters houseboat scene, and my interest in seeing south India, which I have never visited despite having been to India ~15 times.
Trip Overview:
Tumblr media
Kovalam: Beach town at the southern tip of Kerala. We started by spending 4 nights here specifically for the wedding. It was fine, but not a place we’d go out of our way to visit. Since we were only there for the wedding and didn’t do any tourist activities, we won’t focus on Kovalam in this post.
Tumblr media
View of the water from Leela Kovalam, the resort we stayed at
Alleppey/Kumarakom: Alleppey (aka Alappuzha), on the west coast of the state, is the most famous area for taking a houseboat on the Kerala backwaters. When we were planning our trip around August, about 4 months in advance of our travel, we had a really hard time finding a decent houseboat with reliable reviews so we opted to skip this. (Our friends found a ~$400/night houseboat on Airbnb that had great reviews and they really liked it). Instead, we stayed nearby at Kumarakom Lake Resort, a very nice but crazy expensive luxury resort. [4-5 hour drive from Kovalam]
Tumblr media
On a sunset boat ride on Kumarakom Lake
Thekaddy: On the eastern side of Kerala; known for Periyar National Park, a tiger reserve where it turns out nobody ever sees the tigers. We had planned a half-day hike in Periyar with the hopes of seeing wild elephants and other wildlife, but unfortunately missed the tour. We stayed at another ridiculously expensive resort here, which wasn’t anywhere as nice as Kumarakom. Thekaddy is skippable. [4 hour drive from Kumarakom]
Tumblr media
Traditional dance performance at our hotel in Thekaddy
Munnar: In the northeastern corner of Kerala, Munnar is known for its scenic tea plantations. The scenery really did deliver, but everything else about our experience here was so poor (the process of trying to book a hotel, get information about activities/tours, find safe restaurant food in town, constantly getting ripped off, commute times, safety on the crowded and winding roads) that we cannot recommend it. [4 hour drive from Thekaddy]

Walking on a tea plantation in Munnar
Kochi: We ended our trip at Kochi airport, from which we flew to Mumbai. We had the chance to spend a couple hours in downtown Kochi, which was compact and charming, but didn’t have time to check out other neighborhoods.
Kumarakom Lake Resort
Tumblr media
Inside Kumarakom Lake Resort
We spent 2 nights here and the experience was basically perfect. It was about as similar to the Maldives as anywhere I’ve been -- standalone villa with a private plunge pool, charming decor, gorgeous views of the lake, 5-star service, delicious food, activities like yoga, pottery making, etc. Even though it was so comfortable, in my opinion the $400/night room rate is still completely egregious for India. You can travel to Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Scotland, etc. and stay in beautiful hotels that are less expensive and easier to get to from the western world (the drive to Kumarakom from Kovalam was long and uncomfortable). I wouldn’t go out of my way to come to Kumarakom unless I already needed to be in Kerala for some other reason. If you are here, then yes, it is a lovely property to visit.
Tumblr media
Note: We stayed in a villa, not a houseboat, because reviews of the resort’s houseboat stays did not sound great.
Tumblr media
Nearby Activities
On the drive up from Kovalam, our driver recommended we stop at Jatayu Earth Centre, which has a cable car up to a massive sculpture of a famous bird from The Ramayana. I’m not big on tourist attractions or cable cars in third world countries, but it was actually pretty cool. If you’re staying at Kumarakom Lake Resort, I’d scurry along to make the most of your time there, but if you don’t have anywhere to be, this could be a nice stop.
Tumblr media
Walking around the Jatayu monument. The dedication to “women’s safety and honour” is a specific reference to The Ramayana storyline.
Thekkady
We spent 1 night at Spice Village, an “eco-resort” in Thekaddy. Like Kumarakom Lake Resort, it was also egregiously expensive and had delicious food. The room was a standalone thatched hut that was pretty nice inside, if not Kumarakom-style luxurious, and the activities were interesting -- a traditional dance performance, cooking demonstration, and nighttime walk with the onsite naturalist, whose fascination with plants, insects, and animals was truly contagious. Unlike Kumarakom Lake Resort, the service was not particularly attentive or helpful and we felt less insulated from the discomforts of traveling in India (i.e., sewage smells in certain parts of the property, thumping music from a neighboring resort late into the night, the room safe didn’t work, etc.). We wouldn’t travel all the way to Thekkady just to stay at this resort.
Tumblr media
We saw quite a few spiderwebs on our nature walk at Spice Village.
Nearby Activities
Our driver advised us to stop at Deepa World, a spice plantation, where a tour guide who spoke decent English took us on a 20-minute walk and showed us different spice plants. It was only INR 100 (like $1.20) per person and it was actually a really neat experience, especially as we then kept spotting a lot of these spices growing in the wild around Kerala.
Tumblr media
Our tour guides in Kerala were consistently excited to point out cardamom pods growing in the wild.
Although we unfortunately didn’t get a chance to visit Periyar National Park, my sense from reading online reviews is that we didn’t necessarily miss too much.
Munnar
The tea plantations were so beautiful and lovely to walk through, but the experience of staying in Munnar was really not great. We stayed for 3 nights at Fragrant Nature Munnar, a supposed 5-star hotel that surprised us with its dilapidated condition, lackluster service, and yucky food (I honestly didn’t even know that Indian food in India could taste bad until we stayed here...). Finding lodging in Munnar was a frustrating process because it was difficult to understand which hotels are actually good (this one had just as good Google ratings as hotels that we later learned are actually decent) and when we did get leads on “good” hotels, they tended to be unresponsive, unhelpful, and/or scammy during the booking process. I even asked for leads on Reddit, and the responses indicated that a lot of Kerala hotels’ online reviews are fabricated by the hotel owners and therefore aren’t trustworthy. Everything was extremely expensive around Christmastime -- as context, our Munnar lodging was significantly more expensive and probably less nice than a Motel 6 in the rural U.S. While we weren’t specifically looking for luxury stays -- especially after breaking the bank in Kumarakom and Thekkady -- we just wanted a place that was clean with safe and decent-tasting food (very important because in Munnar you’re totally dependent on your hotel for your meals). The difficulty of finding this was a huge turn-off and is frankly a huge reason I would not recommend visiting here.
Tumblr media
A waterfall we saw in Munnar
Nearby Activities
While Kumarakom and Thekaddy were basically about the resort experience, Munnar is all about the gorgeous natural beauty that is available for all to enjoy, regardless of your wealth/ability to stay in a luxury resort. And what is specifically unique about the views here are the stunning tea plantations!
Our favorite activity of our entire Kerala trip was a half-day hike booked through Viator (Mountain Hiking through Munnar Tea Plantation, operated by the Munnar Tourist Information Office). Not only do we generally love hiking, but we had a chance to walk through gorgeous tea plantations unlike any landscape either of us has experienced. There were vibes of Hobbiton, Vietnamese rice paddies, and the lush Scottish countryside. If after reading this post you for some reason still decide to travel to Munnar, we highly recommend doing such a hike!
Tumblr media
On the tea plantation hike
The other activity we tried in Munnar was a “Jeep Safari” that our driver told us we’d really like (hard not to believe he wasn’t getting a kickback from the tour operator). We got driven around to some waterfalls, a scenic viewpoint, and a dam, none of which were really that great. It was also very overpriced for India (US $50 for a 3 hour tour, at least half of which was spent just being driven around). We do not recommend it.
Tumblr media
Jeep Safari scenic viewpoint
In terms of other activities, we read about recommendations to visit Eravikulam National Park and the scenic viewpoints at Top Station, Madupetty Dam, and Echo Point. These are all extremely popular destinations among Indian tourists and given the crowds, long commute times, and middling reviews we read online, we decided to skip them.
Logistics
As I referenced in the Munnar section, planning the logistics of our entire trip to Kerala was a real pain -- far more difficult than anywhere else we have traveled. There was very limited information available online and the Indian travel agents we got connected to during the planning process were unprofessional and unresponsive, so we ended up choosing our hotels based on recommendations from family friends and online research (which obviously didn’t work out well for Munnar). We learned that booking directly through the hotel’s website is the most expensive option (though probably the least painful, as you don’t have to deal with time zone differences, language barriers, and the general annoyances of dealing with Indian customer service staff). However, there tends to be a substantial discount if you contact the hotel directly. And apparently you’ll get an even lower rate if you go through a travel agent. Which brings me back to finding it awful to try to work with Indian travel agents...

The Amazing Amalfi Coast
Italy's Amalfi Coast is a huge tourist mecca for millennia, and once and for all reason. This small part of southwest Italian coastline has caught the imagination of humans for generations. Indeed, Capri, a small island off the coast, was a popular resort during the Pompeii and amalfi coast tours from Rome  time of the Roman Republic. Emperors and governors built massive villas and estates there. Emperor Tiberius permanently relocated to Capri to run the vast Roman empire from his villas until his death higher than a decade later.
The island of Capri and the famous Blue Grotto make an excellent kick off point for a comprehensive investigation of the region. Popular trips with limited time usually begin in the city of Naples, that visitors can take a hydrofoil directly to Capri. After a couple of days on Capri, a shorter ferry can get you directly to the mainland, to the quaint town of Sorrento. I absolutely fell in deep love with this town when I visited as a teenager. Rome was too big, Naples was smaller but still a bit too large, Capri was too small and isolated due to the island nature, but Sorrento was just right. A quiet put on the Tyrrhenian Sea, Sorrento is replete with dramatic sea cliffs, luxurious hotels, and innumerable kinds of Limoncello. If you're vulnerable to wandering, you can also find fantastic little isolated hole-in-the-wall eateries where you will have the best food you have ever endured in your complete life.
Mid-way between Naples and Sorrento are the famous ruins of Herculaneum, Pompeii, and the impressive Mount Vesuvius. In 79 AD the volcano had a catastrophic eruption, and these neighboring areas were destroyed and completely buried in over 60 feet of ash Car service from Rome to Amalfi coast. The whole process took only 2 days. The towns remained untouched and completely buried until their accidental discovery in the 1700s. Due to the rapid and complete ash burial, the entire site is remarkably well preserved. Pompeii offer visitors a snapshot into what life might have been like in a Roman coastal town at the height of Rome's grandeur. I recall that the colors on the wall mosaics were still very vivid. The city merely seems 100-200 years old, not the 2000 years of age that it actually is. Yet the plaster casts of victims fleeing the town, have been trapped and engulfed in ash and flame, are sobering reminders of the human tragedy that occurred. Pompeii had a population of 20,000 during the time, and Herculaneum had nearly 4000. With little warning, and little chance of escape, many people lost their lives in the ensuing disaster.
Another highlight of the Amalfi Coast is, obviously, the coastline itself. Tiny, winding roads are frequented by absurdly large bus drivers who seem to understand every inch of the road. They pilot their buses at top speed with inches to spare on either side. I recall being quite impressed with both their finely honed driving skills and their obvious lack of fear. The jagged cliffs drop a huge selection of feet to the sea, but these were not bothered in the slightest. This truly is a stunning landscape.
From the coast, many Italy tours will send you via bus to points north, almost certainly Rome. You can see the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel, explore the Colosseum in the town center, and walk the numerous piazzas. You may have just experienced the quintessential trip to southern Italy, and seen the sunny coastline in most its glory. Odds are, you will undoubtedly be back for more.

History of the Creed - Part 1: Assassin’s Creed 2
So… I’ve decided to do a marathon of my favorite game series, Assassin’s Creed (minus [probably] the first one) because Valhalla (which I’ll not buy until one year after its release) and some part of me decided that I should review them.
But wait a minute… I hear one you saying. Don’t you have over 250 Doom WADs to check?
Well, yes. But then again we kind of like to pile on new idea after another to do when there’s an opportunity. There is still the Galaxia WAD in make for one of you who liked my WAD reviews but I believe that the AC reviews will take a lead for now.
Also the reason that I’m not reviewing Assassin’s Creed 1 is because now when I think about it, it doesn’t sound that good as it was.
You are having a PTSD attack over flags, Templars and “side missions”.
Okay, let’s talk about something else. What I’ve decided to do is to play these games in a semi-completionist style, in other words: if there are some side activities in missions, I am not expecting to replay them to get it all 100% because I would go nuts restarting the mission/control point every time I failed this one, specific side activity. But the rest as in: all collectibles, side missions and places to clear? I’ll do my best to do them all… Even Odyssey…
I’m fucked.
But enough of that. Let’s talk about the game that is proclaimed to be the best game in this series.
ASSASSIN’S CREED 2 (The original PC release in Europe: March 5, 2010)
youtube
PLOT
It is Italy in the early Renaissance times. You are Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a young lad from a family of nobles who’s head of the family, Giovanni, is an Assassin. One day you find it out when your father and brothers are imprisoned and the next day they end up executed so you swear revenge on those Templar MoFoes for what they did.
Ah, revenge, the good, old plot device that never gets boring when it’s done right. And by being done right I mean when it has a nicely written characters. And that character is Ezio. I mean, who doesn’t like him? This motherfucker oozes with charm and personality. And Roger Craig Smith only solidifies it. He even gets a good character development. Example: When Ezio kills the guy who betrayed his family, his next goal is to run away to Spain with his mother and sister. After living two years in his uncle Super Mario’s villa, training under his eye and reading about Assassins and Templars, while still wanting to escape Italy, he’s now having a doubts about this plan and not until the harsh talk with his uncle decides that he’ll help destroy the Spaniard’s band of goons and get a revenge on him.
The secondary characters are fine but that’s it. They are perfectly okay with few of them standing out like Leonardo da Vinci (seriously, your best friend is Leonardo. Fucking. Da Vinci.). The villains are also just okay. Some of them have a personality of a Saturday cartoon villain, some of them are more dimensional. Rodrigo Borgia however goes to the former group. I mean, I don’t find him terrible at all, it just I wish he were better. But props to Manuel Tadros for playing him. He did a very good.
Oh yeah there is also some stuff in the modern times. It’s not bad but it basically exists only to move the plot forward and give us a reason why you can see the stuff from the past. But hey, the Desmond Saga is still better than this Initiate bullshit of the modern days plot.
GAMEPLAY
Assassin’s Creed 2 is basically the first game on steroids. You assassinate targets, you sometimes run using your parkour skills and sometimes fight with the enemies. There are some new stuff when you care this to Assassin’s Creed 1 like: Being able to use two hidden blades at once, healing yourself with medicine, shooting enemies with your loud hidden pistol, using smoke bombs, throwing money on the ground (LEAVE ME ALONE YOU BARD HYENAS!) and poisoning people, making them go apeshit (which I used only once in this run, in 13th sequence to be exact). Asides from the regular guards and archers there are three new types of enemies: Brutes, the heavy armored fatsoes, Agiles that can dodge your regular attacks and Seekers, who have a long ranged weapon and can easily find you in a haystack. You can also buy new, better weapon/armor and a bigger sacks for your knifes/medicine/poison. There is also a notoriety meter. When you fill it to 100% the guards will automatically be suspicious when you are in their line of sight. You can decrease it by ripping off posters, paying off heralds and killing the witnesses.
However, in spite of all of this crap that was added, this game feels easier than the first one. It’s not like it’s somewhat major con for me (I would rather play the game that is too easy than too hard) but I can understand some of you have a big problem with that. Imagine this: in theory, when you are spotted, you must use your abilities to run away from the enemies and use combat only as the last resort. But then I ask: why should you do that?! You are so powerful, you can destroy the entire Venetian army in 10 minutes! You are getting more durable and powerful with each sequence! Agiles can die by one counter attack! You can steal Brute’s/Seeker’s weapon, then one-shot them and then use their weapon to one-shot another fool who’s stupid enough to attack you! The fights are that easily! Sure it’s kind of tougher than I remember but still! Even if you don’t want to fight, smoke bombs helps you tremendously in both running away and fighting. Not to mention the enemies being stupid and that they couldn’t catch you most of the time.
Changing slightly the subject, you can also hire mercenaries/courtesans/thieves to help you distract guards. They are pretty helpful in missions, both the main ones and the side ones but outside of them they are rather useless because... well... I already explained you that.
Remember how in the first game you couldn’t swim? Well, now you can do this and use gondolas. Personally, however, I felt like I was faster on my own than on a venetian mini-boat.
ACTIVITIES
There is many stuff to do in this game. Like much more than you think. You can for instance buy paintings, collect money from chests/codex pages/feathers, find glyphs and solve their riddles, (like in previous game) you can climb on viewpoints to reveal a huge chunk of map, deliver letters, race to beat the best time of members of the guild of thieves, beat up unfaithful husbands, collect 6 seals to get Altair’s armor and fund for renovations of many buildings in Monteriggioni. Most of this stuff gives you more and more money every 20 in-game minutes by increasing the town’s status (which you have to withdraw from your villa).
In other words, the predecessor of your typical, modern, Ubiconic game. Personally I enjoyed doing these stuff but be warned; if you want to go after feathers, check a guide on their locations (same with Monteriggioni’s roman gods’ statues). I know at least one guy who went insane after trying to find the last one in Tuscany.
Liquid Bogan (in the background): F̴e̸a̴t̸h̶e̵r̵e̵s̷ ̶a̴r̷e̵ ̵l̴i̸f̵e̶,̴ ̶b̶r̸o̷t̷h̸e̸r̶.̸ ̶W̷e̵ ̶m̵u̵s̴t̴ ̸c̷o̸l̴l̴e̴c̸t̵ ̷a̸l̸l̷ ̸f̸e̸a̶t̷h̴e̶r̴e̵s̵,̶ ̷y̵i̵s̵?̶
He’s definitely fine.
THE GRAPHICS AND SOUND
This is where it turns into mixed-bag. While the sound effect are still very good, the graphics however, didn’t age well. Sure, the landmarks still look awesome and I love some of the details like the fact that some dust from buildings comes off when you climb but the character models… I don’t think they survived the time after the game’s release. The textures look sometimes blurry as shit, facial animation looks from time to time wonky, it looks especially bad in cutscenes. Then again, I don’t think people liked how they looked even in 2009 since I remember watching a review from my native country and the reviewer said that the character models lack polish when you take a closer look.
The soundtrack though… Jesus. Like, what can be said about it after so many people said earlier? There is a reason why people are calling it one of the best soundtracks in video games of all times. I would choose you three of those worth a listening but asides from the first three in the official soundtrack (for obvious reasons) there is too much to choose. So, here’s the whole bloody soundtrack.
STABILITY
Even though I played the PC version (and I heard that the PC version was a mess at the beginning) I didn’t really had many problems. Framerate was constantly smooth and I didn’t notice any drop in it. There were however 2 nasty bugs. The first one crashed the game when you have to choose if you want to play the memory or not; it happened at least 3 times. The second was when trying to assassinate Antonio Maffei and that monk fucker decided to noclip himself into the tower. Like- What the- WHAT THE FU-
Technical Difficulties.
Maybe it was because I paid the nearby herald. I don’t know.
SUMMARY
Despite its graphics getting somewhat dated and the game being kind of buggy, Assassin’s Creed 2 is still a fantastic game and I fully recommend it to you. Check it for yourself (if you haven’t already) and while at it, tell me your opinion about this game.
Thank you all for reading this long-ass review and I’ll see you next time.
Bye!

The Amazing Amalfi Coast
Italy's Amalfi Coast has been a tourist mecca for millennia, and once and for all reason. This small section of southwest Italian coastline has caught the imagination of humans for generations. Indeed, Capri, a small island off the coast, was a popular resort at that time of the Roman Republic. Emperors and governors built massive villas and estates there. Emperor Tiberius permanently relocated to Capri to perform the vast Roman empire from his villas until his death higher than a decade later.
The island of Capri and the famous Blue Grotto make a fantastic starting place for a thorough investigation of the region. Popular trips with limited time usually begin in the city of Naples, from which visitors can take a hydrofoil directly to Capri. After a couple of days on Capri, a smaller ferry can take you right to the mainland, to the quaint town of Sorrento. I absolutely fell in love with this town when I visited as a teenager. Rome was too large, Naples was smaller but nevertheless too large, Capri was too small and isolated because of its island nature, but Sorrento was just right Car service from Rome to Amalfi coast. A peaceful place on the Tyrrhenian Sea, Sorrento is replete with dramatic sea cliffs, luxurious hotels, and innumerable kinds of Limoncello. If you should be susceptible to wandering, you can even find fantastic little isolated hole-in-the-wall eateries where you may have the most effective food you've ever endured in your whole life.
Mid-way between Naples and Sorrento would be the famous ruins of Herculaneum, Pompeii, and the impressive Mount Vesuvius. In 79 AD the volcano had a catastrophic eruption, and these neighboring areas were destroyed and completely buried in over 60 feet of ash. The whole process took only 2 days. The towns remained untouched and completely buried until their accidental discovery in the 1700s. Due to the rapid and complete ash burial, the entire site is remarkably well preserved. Pompeii offer the customer a snapshot into what life could have been like in a Roman coastal town at the height of Rome's grandeur. I recall that the colors on the wall mosaics were still very vivid. The city merely seems 100-200 years old, not the 2000 years old so it actually is. The plaster casts of victims fleeing town, have been trapped and engulfed in ash and flame, are sobering reminders of the human tragedy that occurred. Pompeii had a population of 20,000 at the time, and Herculaneum had nearly 4000. With little warning, and little potential for escape, many individuals lost their lives in the ensuing disaster.
Another highlight of the Amalfi Coast is, obviously, the coastline itself. Tiny, winding roads are frequented by absurdly large bus drivers who seem to learn every inch of the road. They pilot their buses at high speed with inches to spare on either side. I recall being quite impressed with both their finely honed driving skills and their obvious insufficient fear. The jagged cliffs drop a huge selection of feet to the sea, but they certainly were not bothered in the slightest. This truly is a wonderful landscape.
From the coast, many Italy tours will send you via bus to points north, most likely Rome. You will see the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel, explore the Colosseum in the city center, and walk the numerous piazzas. You will have just experienced the quintessential trip to southern Italy, and seen the sunny coastline in every its glory. Chances are, you will soon be back for more.
