Fixing Bumble's Bad Writing, and Tom's Death
Alright. There is nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. We all know the issues.
Here is how I make this somewhat better.
Bumble doesn't get told to go back to Tom in the rewrite. She is a kittypet, and enjoys her life, and doesn't want to leave it. Bumble liked her life before this new cat was in it.
So, Bumble wants to learn how to fight. Just a few moves. Nothing too complicated. All she wants to do is defend herself, and stay for a few days!
Cautiously, Grey Wing agrees, and brings Bumble to Tall Shadow. Turtle Tail is insistent on helping, and keeps talking about how "Bumble can't defend herself, she needs our help!"
Tall Shadow almost refuses when she finds out that Bumble was front paw declawed by a previous owner. Then Bumble body-slams her into the ground, and Tall Shadow goes "Alright. You can stay for a little bit."
Then Tom follows Bumble, confused about where she went. I made him visit earlier, due to drama.
He encounters Clear Sky early on, who tells him what amounts to "fuck off", finds the moor, smells Turtle Tail, and finds Grey Wing reflecting (imagine the "i was so distressed i spent the while afternoon listening to soft rock while cross-fading" clip from gumball).
Grey Wing takes one look at him, remembers Bumble, and leads him to the camp, and loudly talks about how HEY, THIS IS TOM, HE USED TO LIVE WITH BUMBLE! DOES EVERYBODY REMEMBER BUMBLE? BUMBLE IS A SHE-CAT LIVING HERE WITH NUMEROUS SCRATCHES FROM TOM! TOM WANTS TO MEET TURTLE TAIL, WHO IS PREGNANT WITH HIS KITS. TOM CARES ABOUT TURTLE TAIL, JUST LIKE HE DID ABOUT BUMBLE, WHO HE GAVE SEVERAL INJURIES!
Just about everybody realizes what's going on, including Tom, and Bumble walks out and threatens him, chasing him away because holly hell what happened to Bumble who didn't stand up for herself.
All the while Tall Shadow is going "YASS QUEEN, YOU GO GIRL!"
Anyway, after that Bumble goes back to her Twolegs, and that's generally where her arc ends. She goes to Limbo, and I am being sucked into a Bumble x Tall Shadow black hole, this is now rewrite canon.
After that, I'm unsure about how I want to kill off Tom. I sort of want to keep his canon death, as a reminder that even horrible people can do good things, but I'm also toying with the idea that Bumble tackles him into the gorge.

Do you know any diseases or conditions that would cause increased aggression, clouded judgement, and eventually kill? Feeling bored and trying to find a way to kill off Bramblestar in the Firemask AU, considering rabies but if it showed symptoms Bramble wouldn't last that long.
I would avoid mental conditions since you plan on making him kill due to it because that would likely upset people, so maybe he is poisoned?
Wolfsbane, among other things it does, causes confusion and mania if it reaches the brain. Perhaps he survived other stuff, like heart affects, because of his several lives?

now I want to make cloudtail deaf in the firemask rewrite.
Tumblr media
I think it would also be a way of explaining why Cloudtail didn't like Clan life so much when he was an apprentice (if that's similar in your au), because Clan life does not do well to accommodate him, and it's frustrating

Chica from fnaf
An interesting option! FNAF is gonna be fun, especially since nobody knows what's going on, so I get to interpret my own way!
I immediately knew that scratch was a good suffix option. Well, if immediately is defined as in five seconds.
And for prefix, I went for the low hanging fruit.
Chickenscratch! An accurate description of my handwriting! And the name for warrior cats Chica!
So, now we get to the story.....oh, the story.....
Chicken, a little loner kit, was easily enticed by the friendly cat offering some shelter, and help finding her parents.
It was a quick end. The 'friendly cat', burying her himself, muttered under his breath.
"Hmm.....Chickenscratch, then. Darkness hear your name, and Stars accept you into their shelter until I can bring you back."
Hey, that was a good name! That 'friendly' loner didn't deserve to be the one to give it to her. Chickenscratch, using kit logic, used the idea and then gave herself the name.
She was just a kit. Chickenscratch found friends, those who the 'friendly' loner had also killed. Some of them had even visited another world, and told stories of a tom named Freddywhisper and a she-cat named Bumble!
In a couple years, Chickenscratch found the corpse of a cat. Killed by head damage, but....
She reached out for the body, and suddenly, she opened her eyes. But she could see the others! Whirling around, curious about what she had done, but Chickenscratch didn't care. She felt...alive.
Joy sparked in her heart. They could get revenge.
That's when it all began.
--
I hope you enjoyed the story! I didn't realize it had drifted into that format, but that's what happened, and I'll roll with it!
Freddywhisper is a clangen cat I thought was really pretty, and Bumble is actually Firemask AU Bumble!
As always, if you would like more elaboration, or want another character to be turned into a warrior cat, please send another ask!
I'll see you next time!

My Firemask AU masterpost has info about Limbo, but there's a hyena.
I can just imagine Firefeather going "yeah there's a hyena. The kittypets call him snickers. He's friendly"
Everybody who isn't DayClan going 0_0 what the fuck is a hyena
I love that concept oh my void-
Also I did a read through of the firemask au and consider me interested! I love wc aus that change the story!

Made a character generator for Waterfall! (firemask rewrite version of tribe of rushing water)

Text
Waterfall (Tribe of Rushing Water)
This was tough. I'm sure you know the problems with the Tribe, if you don't, look it up. It's easy to find. For the rewrite, I'm using Waterfall to show a contrast, to say "Actually, RELIGION SOMETIMES GOOD"
I like one word names, and so I went with Waterfall for the rewrite name.
Waterfall stays around the same area, and was started after cats began to help each other. Sympathy for the old, the weak, and the young bound together the early members of Waterfall. An old cat born without a leg would teach a younger cat with the same disability how to climb the fastest, while two other cats watched the sky for danger. Abandoned kits would now have somebody to cling too at night, instead of sobbing alone and scared.
In Waterfall, you catch prey for yourself, then turn to the others, devoting your free time to helping the ones who need it. It's held together by common decency.
And then, the Endless Walkers (Tribe of Endless Hunting) appeared in dreams, in their own mountain afterlife (related to Limbo but I need to flesh that out). They appeared to Tech, Bunchy, and Hemlock, three former kittypets who joined Waterfall, and guided them along the way to properly form Waterfall into a society. The kittypets, along with a few other cats, formed a council for Waterfall, making decisions and basically doing cat democracy.
Unlike StarClan, the Endless Walkers are straightforward, telling cats what they need to do for the best outcome. They will not let their descendants suffer needlessly in anxiety and stress.
The queens name their kits in similar ways to the canonical Tribe, but it's one worded names, and it's after the first thing they think of. For example, if Brook looks into the eyes of her kits and thinks of a leaping wildfire, she may name them something along those lines, such as Wildfire, Grace, or Danger.
Speaking of Brook, I'm going to give her, Stormfur, and Feathertail their own separate posts, but Feathertail dies in a similar way, the traveling cats stay a little longer at Waterfall then in the canon tribe, resulting in Brook expecting Stormfur's kits, portrayed similar to an accidental pregnancy between two eighteen year olds, and not as a sort of 'white dude falls in love with native girl' thing.
By the time they're about to leave, Brook is all that Stormfur has left. Silverstream is dead, Feathertail is dead, Stonefur is dead, Crookedstar is dead, and for all he knew Greystripe is dead as well. Add that to kits, and somebody he actually loves and somebody who actually loves him, and it's not surprising he chose to stay. Waterfall is great at supporting parents, and even if he didn't want to raise the kits, plenty of cats would take them in there. Stormfur also had fears of history repeating itself, and his kits being considered 'half-clan', so add trauma too.
Waterfall and the clans help each other, for the often complained about "tribe gets borders' storyline, it's really just Waterfall wanting better battle tactics to get some rouges to stop attacking their cats, and in return they introduce psychology to the medicine cats, with coping skills, herbs, and diagnoses to help out a cat with something like ADHD, anxiety, autism, or depression, etc. And that's very helpful for both sides, as Waterfall needs the fighting skills, and life is made extremely better for the clans.

[Insert Prefix Here]Kin
There's a word that throughout the rewrite, plenty of cats use. It's made up of a certain prefix, and the word "Kin".
It is used in many different forms, but you usually use the prefix of the cat you wish to honor and is related to you or your mate.
Tigerstar the First broke social conventions and called himself "MistKin" and "NightKin", instead of "PineKin". Though Pinestar left, he was still a leader of ThunderClan, and all the leaders deserve respect unless condemned to the Dark Forest.
When Firemask confessed to Sandstorm, he called himself "RedKin", representing Redtail. He now had a defense against anybody questioning Firemask's place in the clans, saying that they are questioning the choice and honor of Sandstorm, and by extension the honor of Redtail. If an ancestor:
Hasn't done anything bad enough
Attained a high rank
Died honorably
Then it is very bad to question that honor.
He used this as a way of irritating Tigerstar AND as a way of getting Cloudtail into the clans, leading to a quote that I really like. "This kit is kin of my sister. He is FireKin, and by extension he is RedKin." (Saying without saying that he's going to be really difficult unless Tigerstar let Cloudtail into ThunderClan).
When Darkstar the Second (Darkstripe went to SkyClan, it's a very long story) died, he visited Limbo first and Skystar claimed him as "SkyKin", basically blocking StarClan from damning him to the Dark Forest.
Brokenstar used "RaggedKin" when exiling Yellowfang, and she almost attempted to murder him right there.

Dark Forest Politics
So, in this AU, the Dark Forest has politics. There are three main factions that have formed by the time of the first arc.
BoneClan
BoneClan is made up of the cats who wish revenge. They hate the clans, and StarClan.
Notable residents are Thistleclaw, Maggottail, Houndleap, Claudrat (OC) and Silverhawk by the time Rusty joins the clans.
Notable future residents are Tigerstar, Brokenstar, Hawkfrost, and Darkstripe.
BoneClan has a sort of rotating leadership, with five cats making the decisions. The leadership rotates when a cat beats one of the leaders in a fight.
The Minders
The Minders are a group who wants to make the Dark Forest better for everyone, and stop all of the violence and disagreeable acts that are occurring.
They are lead by Frey, formerly known as One Eye, one of the oldest members of the Dark Forest.
Notable residents by the time Rusty joins the clans are One Eye, and Frecklewish.
Notable future residents are Juniperclaw, Mudclaw, Stumpytail, and Clawface.
The Deepfallen
The Deepfallen act as a sort of mutual defense pact, where no matter what they are obligated to defend each other from attack.
They do not have a leader, and their founder is the subject of much debate.
Notable residents by the time Rusty joins the clans are Mapleshade (don't worry she's still evil), Sparrowfeather, and Redtree (OC)
Notable future residents are Redwillow, Deerfoot, and Tangleburr.

The Evil Firestar AU, or the Firemask AU, is a warrior cats alternate universe
Everything goes as normal, but when Rusty joins the clans, he is apprenticed to Tigerclaw (who is very unhappy about it). Ravenpaw is the apprentice of Bluestar. Meanwhile, Mapleshade is very interested in this new kittypet in ThunderClan (who starts talking his way in and out of trouble and saying very radical ideas about unifying the clans), and begins teaching him how to lie in the DF. There's a subplot of DF politics, but mostly things go as normal. Firepaw manages to convince Tigerclaw not to kill Ravenpaw for finding out about Redtail, and the apprentices all get their warrior names after rescuing the kits from ShadowClan.
Firepaw is named Firemask for the darker orange mask around his eyes.
Tigerclaw ends up killing Bluestar, and naming Darkstripe as deputy. Firemask kills Darkstripe. During that time, Cinderpaw has her accident in a trap that was set for Firemask. Tigerstar acknowledges the game has begun, and after that Swiftpaw and Brightpaw end up attempting to lead the dogs to Tigerstar. They fail, and both are badly wounded, Tigerstar killing Swiftpaw and leaving Brightpaw to die. Firemask and Ravencall (Ravenpaw's warrior name) bring her to the RiverClan border, telling her to run.
Firemask starts his own little group of his supporters.
With great reluctance from everyone involved, Cloudkit is brought to ThunderClan. Firemask starts worrying, and this gets worse when Graystripe and eventually Sandstorm leave for RiverClan (Sandstorm was going to have his kits, and didn’t want them to grow up there). After the TigerClan merges with ShadowClan, he stuffs deathberries in Tigerstar's prey, and that takes his second to last life. Then BloodClan attacks, along with RiverClan and WindClan. This time Scourge doesn't really care about taking over the forest, he just wants to kill Tigerstar. In the midst of the battle, Scourge and Firemask kill Tigerstar a second time, and the TigerClan cats are matched into the RiverClan camp.
Firemask manages to convince Leopardstar not to exile him, and gets passive aggressive nine lives. He is forced into picking Greystripe for his deputy (Ravencall was his first choice). He's not pissed, but not overjoyed at it.
He sort of reconciles with Sandstorm, and that's how the first arc goes. Mapleshade is clowning on Thistleclaw at the end.
That's the basic summary of the first arc, but there is a lot that I didn't go into.
This is the masterpost for those changes!

StarClan Guides
Oh, this is fun!
StarClan can appear in dreams as sort of advisors, to guide them along the best path, and help them out with some troubles. Or...guide them along their own individual agenda.
Some examples of this are...
Skystar. After SkyClan was driven out, his worldview did a hard pivot, and he practically turned against StarClan. It's surprisingly often that a cat will go "huh...i think that should change-" "HI MY NAME IS SKYSTAR, WANT HELP?". This behavior mostly stopped after SkyClan died out, due to Skystar attempting to murder Thunder in rage. He was exiled to Limbo, and it takes a lot more power to dream into the real world from there than from StarClan. (As Scourge can tell you...*hint hint*).
Snowfur to Spottedleaf. I'm going to make my own post about Spottedleaf's Heart, now Spottedleaf's Life in the Firemask Rewrite, but the TLDR of it is: Snowfur gets angry and so does Mapleshade, Snowfur becomes an accessory to a 'murder' that basically all of StarClan condones.
Riverstar to Frostpaw. I will elaborate once ASC is completed, but it's fun.
Crookedstar to Jayfeather! The phrase "StarClan Guide" is taken more literally this time, and Crookedstar ends up teaching Jayfeather about his powers, given knowledge by StarClan and wanting to help out before anybody else messes it up.
Of course, there are many other examples that I have yet to reveal. But that's part of the fun!

Psychiatry in the Clans
This is fun.
So, after the clans help Waterfall during the borders storyline, Waterfall helps them back, introducing the concept of mental disorders, therapy, and treatment for mental disorders to the clans.
This is flawed, as they are cats, so they diagnose by symptoms. The symptom itself is the disorder to them, not the culmination.
Here's the list of what Waterfall considers to be disorders, and the symptom they accompany. Many of these fall under the diagnosis of "Haunting Disorders", where it seems like something else is haunting you, eg: intrusive thoughts. Tell me if any of these are offensive to other people with mental disorders, as I will gladly change them.
Owl-Mind is what they call insomnia, named after owls, seen during the night.
Self Haunting is their term for intrusive thoughts, as cats have described it as "It's not something else. It's me. But it's not mine."
Full Mind/Stuffed Mind/Multiple Soul is the term for what is described on wikipedia as "the presence of two or more distinct personality states", and can be summarized as the word for DID.
Haunted by Nightmares/Haunted by Daydreams is what Waterfall calls disturbing dreams during the night/flashbacks during the day, it's also a term for when somebody has specific triggers connected to trauma.
Weighted Paws is the term for executive dysfunction, and from personal experience, it fits.
Weighted Soul is the term for fatigue induced sadness/very bad brain fog/feeling like you've been drained of energy.
These are the major ones, but there's a lot of other terms that cats use because that's what it feels like for them. The clans are confused at first, but since they're basically a PTSD support group, they're generally okay with it and recognize themselves in those terms.
For treatment, it mostly comes down to coping mechanisms and accommodations, herbs are rarely involved. If a cat thinks another is having a nightmare, they'll nudge them awake and stay with them if the cat doesn't say no. For a cat who's becoming worried about their thoughts, another will distract them with some tasks or something that makes them happy.
Some things aren't even seen as disorders. For an example, hyperfixtations are just thought of as "Oh, that's just how they are! Nothing wrong with that."

Limbo
I am excited about this, as Limbo is a concept I created back when I was much worse at writing but still holds up in my eyes.
Limbo is also called "The Endless Cold", as it is perpetually leaf-fall there. It is a sprawling expanse of territories, many times larger than the lake or the forest. Surrounding this is thick fog, which only certain cats can go through.
When new cats arrive, Limbo expands, and the fog pulls back to reveal more land.
Kittypets, loners, and rouges go to this afterlife once they die. If a clan cat rejects StarClan but isn't evil, this is also where they may go.
Limbo is a sort of second chance. You can never die, but wounds take longer to heal, and the worse you were in life the weaker you are in Limbo.
Prey is semi-scarce, but it's there. You can't have kits, but adoption is common there.
Of course, this isn't without a guardian.
A massive beast roams the land, welcoming newcomers and stopping those who might try to take over this land.
A hyena. The kittypets call it Snickers.
The land itself is alive.
Limbo has no worshippers, the closest thing would be The Sisters, who's blood carries a strong bond with the afterlife.
There are plenty of residents from the canonical warriors series. (TW for some horror)
Tom did not follow StarClan. When he died, he woke in a lonely land, able to count his ribs. He's still lonely.
Bumble also did not follow StarClan, and roams the land caring for the kits there, helping them feel loved instead of lost and alone..
Scourge did not follow StarClan. Even fully grown cats run away at the sight of this walking skeleton.
Cody did not follow StarClan. She thought of the clan cats often throughout her life, and learned tidbits of information from others in her death, becoming a healer that would ease the pain of wounds.

Consequences
Firemask does not get off scot free. In the end, he is Firestar, with Greystripe as his deputy. But....
He lied to the clan, and for a long time, was seen as a cat who was a follower of Tigerstar, and a loyal follower. The clans have a difficult time trusting him, and it's often that after the Battle of TigerClan Leopardstar and Tallstar are untrusting of Firemask's ideals.
His relationship with Sandstorm is capital F fucked. For all Sandstorm knew, her mate was complicit in the murder of two apprentices, without shown remorse, and in many other terrible acts committed by Tigerstar during his reign. Sandstorm understands that Firemask genuinely thought he was doing it for a good cause, but by this time he has murdered several cats out of his own volition. Sandstorm doesn't trust him around Leafkit and Squirrelkit for the longest time, and although they eventually have a decent relationship, it's never at the level it could have been.
That's just the start.

Clan-Exclusive Ranks: ThunderClan
In the Firemask Rewrite, I'm giving all the clans a sort of exclusive rank. This sprang from when I was thinking about Jayfeather, and if he should remain a medicine cat in the au, and had a wonderful idea.
ThunderClan has "Medical Assistants". Cats with enough training to stabilize wounds, keep an injured cat alive, and not make things worse until the actual medicine cat arrives. These cats often go with battle patrols, or go on duo patrols to watch for cats that need help.
Jayfeather started this when he was complaining to Leafpool about how normal warriors should have some training as medicine cats, so they can keep cats alive, and Leafpool went "That's actually a good idea" and Firestar said okay, Leafpool checked with StarClan and they said okay.
Medical Assistants don't hunt very often unless the clan needs it, and otherwise are considered normal warriors. They do not commune with StarClan.

Nightsong (Nightheart) Changes |
His name is now Nightsong, because this version of Bramblestar had an idea and thought it was good.
Nightsong's beef with Sparkpelt is exacerbated by the stress of him feeling like his home is falling apart, and everybody is pretending it's fine, and many issues.
He has ADHD, and the RSD that accompanies it causes plenty of issues.
As for NightSun, I'm going to do a whole other post on that, but I'll just leave it at "Nightsong asked to fake date so he could join ShadowClan, Sunbeam agreed, and they end up adopting and coparenting."
He has a fight with Sparkpelt that made choose to leave, about his name choice and disillusion with ThunderClan.
