#firemountaingems Though not a stone--or gold!--this manufactured "gemstone material" is known by many names: "aventurine glass," stellaria, gold star glass, monkstone or monk's gold. The final two names refer to the urban legend that #goldstone was created accidentally by Italian monks in the 1600s. There are earlier samples, however, including a smooth amulet from Iran that dates to the 1100s to 1200s. The earliest written reference to the material we call goldstone, however, is Vincenzo Miotti of #Venice being granted exclusive license by the Venetian head of state (the Doge) to create this sparkling opaque glass. It has been linked to the medieval art of alchemy almost from its creation. A deep red variation--called haematinum or purpurin--may have been made by the #Romans, with the recipe getting lost during the #DarkAges. Modern goldstone can be created either with #copperflecks or with other metallic compounds such as #cobalt #manganese or chromium oxide. These are used in goldstones made using colors (respectively) such as purple, blue and green. #kbrownjewellery

I am 100% out of neck space. But it’s ok, I’ve felt content with my necklace situation recently.

And then my scarab was like “thanks for the break from being beaded, we needed the reset, but it’s time for a new form”. And so on to Firemountaingems I go.

And now Wepwawet wants a necklace.

And Sobek wants a necklace.

DID Y’ALL NETJERU MISS THE PART WHERE I HAVE NO NECK SPACE.

I don’t get it. Do they want me to sell them or something? But it feels like they want me to wear them, they feel personal. But I can’t wear them! If I do all my other necklaces will get worn less, and I’m sorry but my other necklaces are shens and they, being inhabited, get priority.

Sigh. Maybe I should just. Make them and see what happens.

The Wep one is distinctly what some people might call a “star jackal” necklace. Wepwawet with a dark rippling coat and the cosmic abyss swirling behind (and inside) him.

The Sobek one feels like it’s leaning Sobek-Ra? A simple design with dark speckled green spotted with bright sun orange, with a big sun focal. But Sobek himself has solar aspects so idk there.

My scarab has always felt like it’s somehow Wepwawet’s, so I was using a lot of the same themes from Wepwawet’s personal necklace in that. But I wonder if I should break away from thaaaaat. I was adding lighter browns (for his less main-shrine aspects) and lapis (to kill my wallet for his regal and general divine aspects). But being Shemsu-Ankh is not just about Wep.

Not sure how to expand or alter the idea though. The scarab has always wanted Wep themes. I can’t include themes for my full line up because it is (or certainly will be) too damn big, the necklace will end up too busy and full of conflicting energy. And to just theme it on being Shemsu-Ankh itself, while on point, seems to go against what the scarab wants.

Maybe I could break down the themes in my Ankhhood and my line up to a smaller number of common key points. That might work. My last beading lasted me quite a while and I feel like this one’s going to last longer so I want to get this Right.
