Thanks to @firsttable we took a trip to @1900restaurant and oh my god! It has been one of if not the best experience we've had to date! Booking was super easy on firsttable.ie very straight forward. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Kevin who was fantastic for the whole night. helped us decide on what was best suited for us and recommended this dish! Pan Fried Hake €22.50 Potato Gnocchi, Spring Vegetables Ragout, Burnt Leek. ( Burnt Leek, this needed it's own section. The leek tasted like the nicest crispy onions I ever had in my life! RESEARCH METHODS

PLAN: Creating a platform beneficial to both restaurant establishment and go-ers. Driving traffic through great promotional limited time offers at slower points of service. Targeting 18- 30 yr olds situated in and around the Wellington CBD.

Research methods will include competitive testing, teardowns and comparative analysis (triading) of pre-existing restaurant related digital services such as Firsttable, Tripadvisor, The Entertainment Book and Concrete Playground. Interviews with key users/stakeholders: general public, those who run food outlets and other outfits such as the Restaurant Association, generating affinity diagrams, personas, user journeys & scenarios and literature review/secondary research to determine desirables features that could also sit within the app i.e. booking system, reviews, menu and other info. 

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS I investigated the online presence of First table, Trip Advisor, The Entertainment book, Groupon, and Concrete playground, determining their Strengths and Weaknesses and Threats and Opportunities for the service I would be creating. 

INTERVIEWS I identified two main stakeholders - business and customer. I then prepared interview guides for two select groups - business owners and/or managers (business) and customers in the 18 - 35yr old range. 

AFFINITY DIAGRAMMING Following these interviews, I laid out an affinity diagram to identify key themes and user needs.

LITERATURE REVIEWS / SECONDARY RESEARCH I also did some secondary research to determine gaps in the market

PERSONAS From the above, I created personas inspired by a popular meme - ‘The Starter Pack’

SCENARIOS Scenarios sat along these personas.

PROTOTYPING I began quickly wireframing by hand potential designs. I also used the Marvel tool to create a low fidelity clickable prototype and then moved into Figma for high fidelity mock-ups to be used for user testing.

TRIADING

I chose the triading method to quickly gain insights into peoples perspectives of existing deal service websites. My aim was to find out what is important and why, to get to their core needs and desires without influencing them with my own bias during interviews and see how existing services fit into their lives. 

At the end of each interview, I showed each participant the following screen:

Had a gorgeous meal @sherwood_queenstown to celebrate my daughters first day of work (she's 10, it's a newspaper run!) Thankyou @firsttable for making it possible for a family of 4 to 'dabble' in all the culinary awesomeness that Queentown has to offer! We started with pāua & pork, venison tartare & this beautiful salmon gravlax with beetroot. Yes, the kids ate it all! Homemade sourdough, falling apart pork belly & a delectable lamb dish finished us off, accompanied by @aurumwineslucie Pinot Gris which I love! We also love it here because the kids can play in the rolling vegetable gardens & sit by a stream, or there is ping pong & darts!
