The cops hit Alan with a damn car, threaten to shoot him, and their recruitment of him is treated as a happy ending.

Fistina's promised reward for doing her time in prison is the opportunity to become a cop, promised after helping save the day.

Kevin- someone abused and groomed by a group of cops- his 'good' future consists of either being a cop running around foiling the plots of the group that abused him and others over and over because the cops decided nothing concrete could actually be done about them, or being a cop running the 2.0 version of the group, depending on how you interpret the line.

And here, loves, we see a small sample of how the copaganda of the B10 sequels includes the tying of becoming a better person or even just proving you aren't a bad one to involvement with law enforcement, alongside some 'bad apple' arguments- that the wrongs cops do is justified/an honest mistake outside of a few 'bad apples' that they want to deal with but just can't effectively for some reason.

You mentioned a long while back that Kickin' Hawk was "born" during the events of the episode "Outbreak". While it's kinda obvious that Ben must've been there, which of the Omnitrix brothers were present during the events of that?

And given Fistina's Galvanic Mechamorph form was the same color as Malware, I can imagine that led to some anxiety for the bros.

The aliens present were Wildvine, Walkatrout, Pesky Dust, The Worst and Mole-Stache.

And yeah, Wildvine was pretty put off by Fistina's Mechamorph color-scheme. The others not quite as much, since none of them has personally met Malware.

Unearthed Revision - Chapter 2 Notes

If you haven’t read Chapter 2 of the Unearthed Revision, read it here! This post is gonna have some behind the scenes details and minor spoilers for the chapter it’s about.

Chapter 2 is similar to the first in the way that I’ve reread and modified it so many times it makes me want to scream looking at it again. If you look at something enough times as a creator you get that... Oh well. I still like chapter 2 as it fleshes out the plot a bit more and further introduces the characters.

Minor spoilers ahead!

Ben purposely didn't turn his locator off when he flew from Plumber HQ. Once he landed at the library, he considered doing it, but decided against it. It's one of many cries for help Ben displays throughout this story. In the Revision, Rook mentally acknowledges this as a possibility instead of it slipping Ben’s mind.

"The Plumber’s hand hesitated on the handle. ‘I know how to calm him.’"

Rook's hesitance is more than just being worried for Ben--it’s him showing doubt both in himself and what Max told him to say (telling Ben the issue will be quickly handled). Since Rook isn’t the main character I don't put as much emphasis on it, but it's pretty obvious that most of this doubt about himself is because of/towards Ben. Ben isn’t very textbook as a person so it’s more for Rook to figure out.

The library mentioned in this chapter was initially something I mentioned/used in a roleplay with my friend Rin.

It's not important to the story, but I always figured the fight that introduced Ben to this library to have been with Fistina.

Mr. Browl almost wasn't an Arachnichimp. I almost made him a Florauna (Wildvine), Gourmand (Upchuck), or even an Incursean (Bullfrag) but landed on Arachnichimp (Spidermonkey) because I thought the idea of four-eyed glasses to be amusing. Also, his mentioned accent is implied to be because of his native tongue, but as I only speak English and not Arachnichimp-ish, I pictured him as having a Bosnian accent like my grandpa.

I won’t say now, for spoiler’s sake, but the forged note has something pretty important about it that’ll be called back to later. (Once I get to that chapter, I’ll say what’s up in its respective note post.)

Ben's spelling/shorthand in his notes is maintained on purpose. I almost considered writing all the notes physically myself for some extra pizzazz but never did. I also like showing Ben's eidetic memory (though contrasted with his ADHD involved memory struggles) by having him remember the Transylian species by name but struggle with the spelling itself.

"...his nails digging into the exposed skin of his arms, the reddening marks at home with the long healed scars scattered on his skin."

The scars are both implied to be from this same gesture and because of past battles.

The Rewrite has some big changes to Rook, including emphasizing how despite being a bit of a foil to Ben, he’s learning things the same time Ben is. I headcanon them to be either the same age or have a short age gap of maybe a year after all. So, alongside Rook learning both the language and culture of the place he's working, he's also learning about people overall outside of his native culture. Ben's the easiest for him to understand since they spend so much time together but he's still struggling despite it. After all, everything is in a constant state of change, especially people.

*TenTen:

Species: Sotoraggian

Homeworld: Sotoragg

Abilities: Enhanced durability and agility. Suit contains laser guns, an energy buzz saw, an energy whip, a jetpack, missiles, grenades, flash bombs, paralysing bombs, laser discs, a laser sword and energized knuckles.

Weaknesses: Susceptible to strong smells without helmet.

Feats: Momentarily resisted gravity manipulation caused by a Galilean, and energised knuckles stopped an Arburian Pelarota.

*Dartshot:

*Species: Quillians

*Homeworld: Hystriverm

Abilities: Paralyzing and sleep inducing quills, enhanced strength, durability and agility, and can stop pulse to play dead.

Weaknesses: Quills can be glued to head, and only has a limited amount,

Feats: Can jump through a boarded-up window, can survive being hit by a car and thrown several miles, quills can pierce cement, knock out a Talpaedan, and, if all are used at once, can knock out a To’kustar.

*Iron Fist:

Species: Acrosian

*Homeworld: Acrosia

Abilities: Enhanced strength and durability, detachable head with mechanical body, and hands can detach from body to move on their own and act as a grappling hook or fly with rocket boosters.

Weaknesses: Body will fall apart under high pitched noises.

Feats: Can survive getting punched by Fourarms, can tear through Wildvine tendrils, hand can momentarily keep up with XLR8, and is heavy enough to keep him in place by stepping on his tail.

*Prowler:

Species: Zaroffian

Homeworld: Sangerosia

Abilities: Enhanced strength, durability, agility, and ultrasonic whistle

Weaknesses: Whistle can be stopped by blocking “gills”

Feats: Can punch a hole in a brick wall, can wrestle with an Appoplexian, survived an explosion caused by a crashing spaceship, and can dodge laser shots.

*Harshmallow

Species: Lewodan

Homeworld: Lewoda

Abilities: Flexible and stretchy body, flight, electromagnetism control, and skilled in hand-to-hand combat.

Weaknesses: Electromagnetism can interfere with nearby electronics.

Feats: For a time, can hold their own in a fight with an Appoplexian.

*Vomiteria:

Species: Limax

*Homeworld: Sarcodix

Abilities: Shapeshifting, elasticity, regeneration, duplication, immunity to fire, enhanced strength and enhanced speed.

Weaknesses: Body is frail and squishy, and water contact is fatal.

Feats: Can keep pace with a speeding golf cart and keep it in place by holding onto it.

*Snotty:

Species: Protost

Homeworld: Myceto

Abilities: Elasticity, regeneration, enhanced strength and speed, and gelatinous body allows limited shapeshifting.

Weaknesses: Vulnerable to energy attacks.

Feats: Can tear apart metal easily, and can regenerate from remains small enough to be invisible to the naked eye.

*Mermaim:

*Species: Thalassian

Homeworld: Thalassia

Abilities: Enhanced strength and durability, and can change legs into a fish tail.

Weaknesses: Can only survive outside of water for 1 day every 5.22 years.

Feats: Can throw around the minions of Vulkanus with little effort, and can survive water pressure strong enough to kill a human.

Abilities: Large size, can sense mana

Weaknesses: Size makes them an easy target.

Feats: Can bite through cars, wrestle with a Vaxasaurian, and can survive being blasted by lasers and acid.

*Species: Pythoran

*Homeworld: Squamophide

Abilities: Acidic spit and enhanced strength, durability and agility.

Weaknesses: Lack of hands makes holding objects difficult.

Feats: Acid can melt through metal and can survive being crushed between two cars.
