I’m not just talking about the ability to run 3 miles. Your #cardiovascular health is vitally important to your whole wellness picture. More than resistance training (in my opinion), #cardio training has a magic ability to improve your health. For those of you searching for your beach bod, I will share this truth: cardio is absolutely essential for body recomposition. You want to #looklean? Get your heart rate up! I’m so emphatic about getting your health right, that if you send me a PM, I’ll help you design your own cardio program! - never done a regular cardio routine - too busy to get back into a routine - I want to run again, but I don’t think my body will let me. Now, when I say cardio, I don’t simply mean running on a treadmill (FIRST image). I’m also referring to more fun stuff, like plyometrics and hurdle drills (SECOND image). Cardio doesn’t have to be monotonous; you can vary the pace and intensity with #intervals. Not interested in doing cardio? Had a tough couple of dives today. Strong currents, reached some limits, got cramp, and came out with pounding headache from the oxygen restriction.....the whole time I was reminding myself that this is all valuable experience. I can learn from this. It will make me a better diver. Why else have I done the qualifications if not to improve and see progress??
A year or so ago that would have been a pity party for one 😂🤨 but now I know I don't do any growing in my comfort zone, so I stopped hanging out there so often 🤙🏾 Don't get the wrong idea - I BLOODY LOVE diving, but I'm trying to make a point 😎

Relaxing Oceanside after a workout in Hawaii! Today we are throwing it back and talking about how we stayed fit during our Hawaiian vacation!⠀ ⠀ When we travel, most of the time we stay at Airbnb‘s that do not have gyms attached. So, we research gyms that have drop in passes and hours that fit when we are looking to workout. We drop into CrossFit gyms since they are used to strangers popping in and they are everywhere. (If you’re here in Lahaina check out @lahainacrossfit) On this trip we were also able to use a friends key card to get into a hotel gym for free which was nice! If all else fails, pack some resistance bands and do a workout in your room or outside in a park. We have done this multiple times. We love mixing it up and tend to try to visit different gyms everyday while traveling, but you don’t need to! Make it simple! It doesn’t have to be expensive, and it can be short, but plan your workouts into tour trips like you plan your meals or your activities and you will be so glad you did! ⠀ ⠀ For more tips on booking gyms while you travel, check out our January blog series! People often ask us how we travel so much or how we afford to travel. So here’s our short answer: 1. We make travel a financial priority. We have a travel fund, we plan our yearly travels in advance and set up a budget long before we go. We do take spontaneous trips here and there, but we stay within our means. What can you give up in your budget to be able to put $100 a week in your travel fund? A few coffees and meals out with friends? Think about it! 2. We find the time and make the time. On the weekends we don’t have to work, we make plans to travel. To our own city, to the beach, to the next town over, anything to fuel our fire and sense of adventure. We love taking “24 hour destination trips” where we find a cheap flight somewhere and stay for the day. It’s less than $200 to fly to Mexico from our airport so our last short adventure was there! Check out a city or trip you can take that is doable within a short time frame like a weekend so you don’t have to miss work and use travel apps to find budget deals for flights to get you there! 3. This is what we love. People spend money on their house or their car. We don’t have TV and live in a cheaper apartment because we don’t spend our time there. We want to see the world so we put our money there. If you want something, you will figure it out. Looking at trying to shift to a travel lifestyle but don’t know where to start?
