Pet Tech Market Latest Trends, Future Development Outlook and Demand Analysis to 2028
Pets have long been an integral part of human life. From dogs and cats to other pets like birds and fish, companion animals have started to become an increasingly common feature in households worldwide. This trend has gained even more traction during the novel coronavirus pandemic, with over 9 million dogs having been acquired by households in the U.S. since the onset of the crisis.
In recent years, several efforts are being made by prominent technology companies to address these issues using the power of technology, creating a favorable outlook for the pet tech market, which is set to exceed USD 20 billion by 2028, as per a study from Global Market Insights Inc.
Pet technology encompasses everything from solutions to enhance animal health, to smarter surveillance, to automation of regular pet-related tasks such as walks, powered by the rise of advanced technologies like AI (artificial intelligence), big data, and robotics.

USD 75 million investment in Embark Veterinary for personalized DNA-based testing platform
For pet owners, ensuring optimum health and wellness of their pets is a critically important consideration. Market leaders like Embark have identified this need and developed a response in the form of new standards for personalized veterinary care via DNA-based digital insights.
In July 2021, Softbank revealed its interest in this digital-based dog DNA testing solution, by leading a Series B funding worth over USD 75 million, with other participants including Slow Ventures, F-Prime Capital, Third Kind Venture Capital, Freestyle Capital, and SV Angel, among other.
Touted as the largest Series B round for a pet-tech start-up to date, the funding was intended to provide support for Embark’s broader target of expanding the lifespan of dogs by nearly 3 years over the course of the decade.
USD 40 million seed funding in The Vets for tech-enabled at-home veterinary care
In recent years, there has been an increase in demand from pet parents for solutions that would facilitate preventative care and health checkups for pets within their own home environments. Furthermore, the ever-increasing burden of veterinarian burnout has also prompted business entities to develop novel at-home veterinary care platforms that not only help practitioners form stronger relationships with pets but also provide healthcare to pets in stress-free environments.
To that end, tech-enabled pet care platform The Vets received seed funding worth almost USD 40 million led by PICO Ventures, Target Global, and Bolt Ventures, to revolutionize pet care by bringing together at-home care and technological advancement. This investment was meant to be a way for The Vets to enhance its pet healthcare platform, facilitate more precise healthcare forecasts and diagnoses, and analyze pet health trends based on parameters like breed.

USD 15 million investment in Fitpet for better companion animal healthcare services in South Korea
The South Korean pet industry is growing at a rapid pace as pet ownership continues to gain popularity among the Korean population, which has enhanced the demand for healthcare-focused pet-tech solutions. In response to this, pet care firm Fitpet received significant attention for its companion animal healthcare solution, from pet owners and investors alike.
In May 2022, the firm received an investment of almost USD 15 million from BRV Capital Management. The funding was earmarked by the company as a means to set up a pet insurance service, with an aim to create a more reliable and efficient ecosystem of veterinary care and establish a strong companion animal health database to transform the lives of pets as well as their owners.
Global Pet Tech Market growth will be positively affected by the notable presence of reputed organizations, such as Actijoy Solution, CleverPet, Inc., Dogtra Co., FitBark Inc., Garmin International, Inc., Halo Collar, IceRobotics, Ltd

Beat the Heat: Exercise Safety for You and Your Pet!
Be prepared for the summer heat and make sure your best workout buddy stays happy and healthy!
Tumblr media
Lisa’s Top Tips to Beat the Heat with Your Pooch!
1. Work out in the morning or evenings when the temperatures are at the lowest!
2. Be conscious of the DC heat index and restrict exercise with your dog during the hottest weather.  Take your dog for a quick walk and then workout in doors! Too much exercise in very hot weather can be dangerous.

*Avoid places where the heat is magnified and there is no access to shade- like the beach or a concrete or asphalt area. Your dog’s paws offer minimal protection against high ground temperatures. Walk your pooch on grass to keep core body temperature low.
3. Keep an eye on your pet and be prepared to cut your workout session short if you notice thick saliva, heavy breathing or lethargy. Heat emergencies for both pets and humans can have devastating consequences.
4. Always make sure to find shade for your dog on your walks! Without shade, your dog can quickly overheat. It is dangerous for your dog when he or she can't get out of the sun.
5. Invest in a baby pool for your dog during hot weather. Baby pools are an inexpensive and easy way to cool your dog down.
6. Bring Water with you every time you walk your pooch – not just when you are exercising!
***Emergency measures to cool the dog must begin at once if you notice any signs of heat exhaustion or dehydration. Move the dog immediately out of the source of heat and into a cool area of the house. CAUTION: Cooling too quickly and especially allowing the body temperature to become too low can cause other life-threatening medical conditions. Even if your dog appears to be recovering, take him to your veterinarian as soon as possible. He should still be examined since he may be dehydrated or have other complications. Prepare for a workout by freezing water in bottles, or place ice and a small amount of water in several resealable food storage bags, and then wrap them in a towel or tube sock. Place them on the floor for your pet to lie on.
When to Cancel Outdoor Exercise Based on the Heat Index
A high heat index can warn you to restrict activities to prevent heat sickness. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) says that the risk of exertional heat sickness is raised when the heat index is above 82 F (28 C) for people exercising for over an hour.
At a heat index of 82 F heat index they recommend canceling competitions and continuous activity.
At the 86 to 90 F range, the ACSM recommends canceling athletic activities for less-fit and non-acclimated people and limiting the duration and intensity for fit and acclimated people.
A value over 90 F should prompt cancellation of athletic activities for everyone, and is an indicator you should plan a different workout rather than a long walk or run outdoors.
If you are trying to decide whether to walk or run outdoors, check the heat index to see whether it will be below 90 at the time you will be doing it. If your route doesn't have shade, factor in another 15 degrees to the heat index.
If the heat index is too high, Walk or jog for 5 minutes and come inside and perform this workout below!
Perform each exercise for 30 seconds. Between each set, play catch with your dog for 30 seconds – and you can run after the ball, too! (If your pup isn’t interested in catch, then perform jumping jacks between strength exercises!)
Warm-up: Glute Bridges and T’s 20 each!
1)   Wall Sit, 1 minute (toss a ball to your pooch while you are sitting!)
2) Squats
3) Alternating Renegade Rows
4) Alternating Rear Lunges
5) Tricep Push-ups
6) Sumo Squat Jumps
Cool-Down: Walk to a shaded area (if not there already) and perform static stretches for each body part (chest, triceps, shoulders, back, glutes, quads, hamstrings).  It is vital that you bring your heart rate down gradually for safe recovery and to allow your muscle tissue to be repaired.
Remember: Always break for water when needed! -even if inside!

Fun & Easy Fitness Tips For You & Your Pet!
It’s REEDiculously easy to fit in exercise and feel better when you let your pet help!
1. Take the stairs with your pooch! Climbing steps together will sculpt your legs and help both of you burn calories.  Skip a step as if you were lunging to build great glutes!  Use the stairs in your home or building- It’s that easy!
2. Strength Train Before Cardio for the Both of You!
Everyone wants to lose weight, but many think it’s all about the cardio.  It’s time to change that mindset! Before you do cardio with your pet, perform strength exercises together first! The more muscle you have on your body, the more calories you burn at rest!  Use your own body weight to lift in your home if you do not have equipment, and you will have instant accountability (your pet)! Then you have everything you need to get a great full body workout at home with your best buddy!
Tumblr media
3.  Stretch like a cat! Have you ever noticed how often cats stretch? Next time your cat stretches, stretch with him or her! Stretching improves flexibility and mobility, and it also reduces injuries from wear and tear as you age and stay safe at home. Hold your stretches for at least 15 seconds. For a stretching Zoom video workout, Contact Lisa today!
4. Voice your positive thoughts! You’re always telling your pets how much you love them, but how often do you tell yourself?  It may sound silly, and it’s a difficult time right now, but the more you voice your positive thoughts (for example: how you feel and tell yourself about your body) the more you will want to take care of yourself by working out and eating healthy at home! Spend as much time caring for yourself as you do your pet. Over time, you will begin to change your outlook on life and will make working out a part of your lifestyle - just like walking your dog!
5. Drink more water! Water is essential to your health and happiness!  Remember if you are already thirsty or see your pet panting, you are both already dehydrated. Both of you sip it up before you are thirsty!  Drink a glass of water and fill up your pet’s bowl before every meal, and before, during and after your workouts together!
6. Track It… and Move Together! When you take your pets for walks, journal and track it together.  You are going to join them in achieving an extra step, an extra flight of stairs, or a stretch. And when they stop, you continue -for example: Every time they stop, perform 10 squats, the next time they stop- Stretch!  Every little bit counts! The more conscious and present you can be to do an exercise when they stop to sniff/etc, the better you will feel and the more calories you will burn and you’ll begin to fit in exercise when you lest expected it! YAY YOU!
Pick one of these tips and begin your fitness, health and happiness challenges with your pets! Taking small opportunities to implement any of these small healthy habits make very big impacts.  You and your pet will be looking good and feeling good from the inside out!

Workout With Your Buddy and You’ll Both Get REEDiculously Fit!
If you missed Lisa on The Pet Show with Dr Katy WJLA, Watch it HERE!
1) Stretch and roll like a cat or dog!  Have you ever noticed how often cats and dogs stretch? Next time your pet stretches, stretch with him or her! Stretching improves our flexibility and mobility, and it also reduces injuries (from tight hips, back, and neck caused by sitting in your chair at work or in your car while driving). In addition to stretching, use a foam roller! It will relieve tight muscles and help with repair and recovery for a nagging injury. You could even use it as a warmup or post-workout tool for recovery!  Contact Lisa today and she will send you a FREE “This is How to Rock & Roll” Guide!
Tumblr media
2) Strength Train then Take the Stairs!  Perform strength exercises inside first then run the stairs with your dog! For example, perform my bodyweight 100 strength circuit of 25 squats, 25 push-ups, 25 dips and 25 ab twisties. Then, go take the stairs with your dog!  You could even skip a step to use more muscles to get gorgeous glutes.  *You will burn calories from fat when you perform strength before cardio.
Tumblr media
3) Watch your portion sizes to lose weight together!  Develop healthy eating habits by measuring and weighing out proper portions for you and your pet.  Just like you measure an exact amount of food for your pet, measure your portions on a kitchen home food scale. Since the average adult eats 92% of whatever he or she puts on their plate, portion control is vital to losing or maintaining a healthy weight.
Tumblr media
4) Voice your positive thoughts!  You're always telling your pets how much you love them, but how often do you tell yourself?  It may sound silly, but when you voice your positive thoughts to yourself, you will begin to see and feel the results, like losing weight, staying fit, and loving your body. Positive self talk will also help you keep your promises to exercise—for yourself and your pet!
Tumblr media
Small healthy habits make very big impacts. The more goals you reach together, the better you will feel and the happier you will both be!
