The Gobo Project: Part 7

Gobo gains his luscious locks 😌

Since I made his hair pretty long I have decided to go with the original design of Gobo (aka purple cardigan gobo aka no eyeliner gobo)

here's my wally puppet - in action!!!

as you can see, he isn't perfect - his mouth is a bit odd and his hair isn't big enough - but i'm very proud of him all the same! using lots of time, energy, felt, and love, i sewed up this little fellow in a few hours... and considering how he's my first real puppet (as opposed to a sock puppet), and how he was made with a non-standard method (not an inch of foam in his fuzzy body!), i think he turned out just delightful!! don't you? :)

spent 4 hours calculating what Wally's made out of using only his weight and height in apples while listening to "i like bananas because they have no bones" and lemme tell you that is an experience

Made my Shin Godzilla, Kamata puppet for the Anime Fair that January. Hence why I was so busy.

I've gotten into the craze of making a lot of puppets out of cheap materials recently. I used to do that as a kid with that one DVD about how to make a princess out of a shampoo bottle and a dragon out of milk cartons.

Posting all the photos I took of the work below.

My mom and sis helped me out a bit in the process too.

I have nobody to talk with about that so ayyy tungle time

I went in to alliance raid roulette as per usual, not expecting much out of the norm (the norm being Crystal Tower, of course)

But nope, I got Puppets' Bunker

Which I just unlocked and haven't been to

So I was completely unprepared and lost and died so many times

I started getting more and more overwhelmed by the second of it, and then when I started getting lag and DCd on the last boss? It just broke me

I'm glad people in the alliance were so supportive and reassured me all is good after my many apologies

But I felt so guilty the whole time

And then I sent friend requests to the people in the alliance, but now I'm feeling like who'd want to talk to the critter who made such a fool of itself, repeatedly, confessed of getting Hella overwhelmed, and then "hey uh wanna be friends?"

One person (omg even 2 now) already accepted it though but I'm not sure why and I'm definitely not feeling able to reach out to them because of pure SHAME

thinking about puppet tattoo parlors. A wall covered in so many different thread colors to choose from - swatches of different types of stitch for different textures / effects. modified handheld sewing machines for tattooing with multiple settings for the different stitches. individual needles + embroidery thread as stick n pokes...

My first fleece covering didn’t go so well, unfortunately… i am not too great at sewing… but look, look! This head is only getting better!

I can’t wait to put on the eyes!!

Interesting idea, but difficult in the long term. You have to have a damn good puppet in the first place, and even then it won’t be easy to play games and talk at the same time with a puppet

I have given that some thought already. Having a full character on camera playing a game live isn't really a thing you can do with only two hands. You either end up with hands that don't actually work, or not enough hands that do work. Even with an assistant helping I haven't been able to come up with a good way to make it happen.

So I figure I could try working around that by finding some entertaining non-gaming things to base a show around.

But if games absolutely had to happen I could just switch to a static caroon of the character's face. I probably could work out how to make a super basic vtuber rig that's a still image with lip flaps. It would probably be more interesting to have it switch to a shot of the character's hands using the controller so you still get some performance coming through. It would be simple enough to just handwave it all with some kind of jokey "I have this condition where only one of my hands work when you can see my face." I've got some options I could try out.

As far as the puppet itself goes, I have a guy for that. (It's me I'm the guy that's a thing that I do.)
