The real Albedo and the prototype Albedo are synthetic humans alchemically created by “Gold” Rhinedottir as part of her Primordial Human Project. The Fellflower Albedo is a mutated Cryo Whooperflower made by the prototype Albedo during the event.

Not me and my online sister making up theories about that one Albedo event which already passed

Okay so I told my online sister my theory on the fellflower Albedo (or as we call him: Dorian) and smol whopperflowers and why they are so aggressive towards people (mainly humans) because she needed some “flowerbedo” lore. 

I have heard a few rumors about him being Rubedo’s creation (I didn’t get to play the event because I was busy completing Albedo lore quest) so I thought that he created flowerbedo to acompany him but the plan backfired as soon as flowey attacked him. But it gave him an idea to send his creation to destroy Albedo but this plan also backfired because instead of attacking Albedo himself flowey went berserk and attacked people Albedo knew. Why flowey went berserk more than once if he was an experiment? Well the answer is simple: Rubedo used real whopperflower DNA. Whopperflowers have feelings but they built up hatred for humans few generations ago. Due to generational trauma new whopperflowers develop fear which turns into aggressive behavior just to protect themselves including the fellflower created by Rubedo. The best part of this theory is that Dorian is being understood by Albedo even though they had to battle and Albedo decided to set him free.

Small demand from my sister to Hoyo: Next Albedo event must be about him adopting little whopperflowers.

The Snowy Past, Act 2

My favourite part of this event was when Albedo and the Traveller started planning to track down the imposter, but then Albedo got interrupted and they forgot about that and went to have dinner and then Paimon thirdwheeled their painting date and they just didn’t bother to do it after that.

Anyway,

Right, so, the most frustrating part of this event is that the bones of a decent horror/mystery event are right here, and the game aggressively decides not to engage with it. It shouldn’t need to be said that the interesting part of a mystery is trying to solve the mystery, but not only do we not investigate alongside Albedo even when he starts suggesting he should, Paimon even says that we did investigate Dragonspine during the 5-day timegate... off-screen.

So, this event is not a mystery. It is something weird happening, us hanging out with Eula, Amber and Bennett instead of investigating, then Albedo showing up, stabbing the culprit, explaining what happened and then the game has the audacity to show us how much cooler the event could’ve been but they couldn’t be bothered writing it because sitting around a campfire cooing over how smart Albedo is and how tsun Eula is was just so much more worthwhile. And to be clear, that is what we discuss. We took turns going around the campfire talking about each other, not really to each other.

This was like, half an event. This was the ‘the problem’s solved now, right?’ phase of a horror novel before things kick into overdrive. Helluva cliffhanger. That said, I don’t actually know if the event’s over or not. The ending cinematic feels like it’s the end, but Albedo also gave us the now-traditional ‘lets meet back up in a few days!’ that indicates a timegate. We’ll see?

Incidentally, the time we spent with the characters wasn’t really well-spent either, and it’s not like Eula, Amber or Bennett had any great story presence. Despite her entire concept being someone that’s shunned by the commonfolk, Eula never has to deal with any difficulties with the Adventurer’s Guild in this event - rather, the game reiterates her character traits exist without really doing anything with them. Amber is pretty obviously an accessory to Eula because she does even less, and Bennett... well, uh, I actually don’t know why he’s here? At all? His bad luck never played a factor that actually mattered. We just talk about it. 

“Bennett is unlucky but we’re cool with it!” “Amber’s grandpa is missing!” “Eula is tsundere!” okay, but what narrative purpose are you guys serving. Seriously. I could’ve switched these three out with any other Mondstadt characters and nothing would’ve changed.

Worst is on Albedo’s end - we know he’s whipped as hell for the Traveller, but it was very strange watching him talk about how he likes the atmosphere of the others in his campsite when the last time we saw him he abandoned the party twice when we were stranded in the middle of the ocean because he didn’t find them interesting or didn’t want to deal with them. I was expecting him to be rather antisocial or visibly uncomfortable they were there, but Mihoyo really doesn’t like showing their characters in any kind of negative light, huh?

Anyway, I liked how the Traveller just kind of admitted to staring at Albedo’s neck often enough to recognise the imposter and a) they didn’t say anything about it to the group? and b) damn Traveller, why you lookin’- (well, this whole revelation wasn’t really logical. It was meant to make the Traveller look smart, and also segue into Albedo’s little monologue about.... glasswork and artificial life. Also some implications about Kaeya there, but whatever.)

I would’ve liked a mystery event where Albedo’s imposter(s) tried to sabotage his life wrapped up with the horror of Dragonspine, but this was just aggressively boring.

i love susbedo because nobody knows anything about how he thinks or feels or anything. like obviously he wants to replace albedo but like why? is it instinct, is it to prove himself, does he even want to replace albedo at all??? i dunno. i just know that when we saw him in that last cutscene, the way he walked away just made me so sad. i think its hard to be deemed inadequate and have no other chance for redemption. he has to do things this way because there was no other chance for him. nobody would accept a failure if they knew he was one, so he just has to pretend that he's not.

(im also aware that it wasnt susbedo with the traveler + party but let me ignore flowerbedo for now. that man stupid as hell)

The plant gasped a little as he was kissed by one of the ones his creator told him to eliminate but he couldn't bring himself to do it as he was deemed a failure upon being defeated, his body shivers a little before he gave a gentle kiss on their cheek before speaking.

"Thank...you...this is nice of you...sorry for hurting...before...was following orders...I'm a failure now....creator will destroy me if I return..."
