Quilt Block Mania - February is Maker
Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Maker!
This is my fifth year participating in QBM, and I hope you’ve enjoyed my free block pattern each month! If you’ve missed any, the patterns for previous months are available in my shop.
To learn how to get my free pattern, see How Do I Get the Free Spool and Bobbins Pattern? at the end of this post.
With a theme like Maker, of course I’m going to focus on quilting! So I decided to pattern my block using two indispensable quilting tools—thread and bobbins!
I call my block Spool and Bobbins. It uses regular piecing techniques. I hope you’ll make my block and tag me on social media @inquiringquilter!

Quilt Block Mania - January is Party
Welcome to my stop on the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. Each of the designers participating in the hop are sharing a block pattern inspired by this month’s theme, which is Party!
This is my fourth year participating in QBM, and I hope you’ve enjoyed my free block pattern each month! If you’ve missed any, the patterns for previous months are available in my shop.
To learn how to get my free pattern, see How Do I Get the Free Happy New Year Pattern? at the end of this post.
With Party as the theme, my thoughts immediately went to New Years. It’s not that I party much, but my dh and I do participate in my daughter’s New Year’s Eve celebrations. She and her friends gather from all around for a weekend of fun—playing video games and board games, watching movies, exchanging gifts, and catching up. This used to happen at our house and so we’ve had the privilege of watching them all grow up over the years.
Now the party has moved to a home my daughter is renting, so there’s no real need for us to attend except that we are now a much loved part of the proceedings. This year we visited for a few hours, ate dinner, exchanged some gifts and toasted the new year with some champagne. It was soon time for us to return home and to leave the merry making to the kids (they continued chatting and joking and playing video games.)
I call my block Happy New Year. It uses raw edge fusible applique techniques. I hope you’ll make my block and tag me on social media @inquiringquilter!
