Tumblr media
There's something enigmatic about going on a date after a break-up.
Maybe it's the way your stomach flutters when plans are set in stone, or the way your lips inevitably curl upwards when you swipe your makeup onto your face to the beat of your getting-ready tunes.
Or maybe, it's just because it's not with Miles.
Your heart twists within itself at the very mention of his name, or at the mere thought of it— that's for sure. Anything that had to do with him in the slightest had your stomachs in knots, the bitter taste of acid playing on your tongue when you dwelled on the past of your former relationship.
It was his fault, that’s what you had settled on. Mostly to deny the fact that your chest locked whenever you saw him in public, or whenever he would come into your job during the morning time, ordering the same chocolate muffin and coffee that he always bought.
And you had to act like it didn’t bother you, although it did, for a while. You always called him “Mr.” when you saw him in person because the hurt restricted your mouth to even fix itself to say his name.
But months passed, and you were sick of coming home from work and falling asleep to the sound of your own tears hitting the pillow, accompanied by constant rewatching of old videos and pictures that you and Miles had accumulated over the past two years.
As long as your relationship was, you knew that it would be hard to get over him if you just sat around and sulked all day for the rest of your life. You caught yourself opening up the App Store and downloading multitudes of dating apps, at first— just for fun and games, until one guy that you matched with came into your work.
Sebastian was extremely different in relation to Miles. He was taller, buffer, and owned the deepest of emerald eyes, which seemed to always sparkle when he was under the opiate of light. He was kind-hearted and tender and often told you how beautiful you were when he had the chance.
He had the thickest of caramel curls and was two years older, as well, which definitely appealed to you because you assumed he would be more mature then your former lover. He introduced himself one day when you were working, sliding a twenty across the old oak counters as a “tip for your excellent service.”
Ever since he had became a regular at the shop, you would often go out with him after your shifts would end, which halted the amount of times you would see Miles at work, which you used to your advantage.
As completely horrible as it sounds, you didn’t really have a strong intention to fall for Sebastian. He was cute and you were pretty and he liked taking you out, especially to lunch, which you viewed as free meals with a close friend. Until he started to hug you and place his hands on the curve of your waist when you walked down the street, thick and veiny hands kneading at the doughy flesh of your sides from time to time.
You didn’t intend to fall for him until he kissed you on the cheek that night that he took you on a picnic and asked you to be his girlfriend. And when he looked at you with his deep, viridescent eyes, you couldn’t say no. You had fell for him, so you nodded your head and whispered a ‘Yes’ as he pressed his lips onto yours softly, so gentle and tender, like he was afraid to hurt you.
Eventually, time stretched to today, where you were celebrating your one-month with Sebastian. You were surprised you held out this long, but day by day, the mere memories of Miles had faded from your knowledge and you liked to keep it that way.
In current time, you tapped your phone with a freshly manicured acrylic, your other hand occupied with brushing away your setting powder that brightened up your under eyes. It was nearly six-thirty, and your date was at seven ‘o clock.
Sebastian claimed that he couldn’t pick you up because it would ruin an alleged surprise, but you just shrugged it off as you finished off your look with a pair of lashes and red lipstick.
You carefully smacked your lips and smiled in the mirror as you grabbed your purse and phone, swiping it open and texting Sebastian that you were on your way.
As you walked out of your house and got into your car, some unknown emotion was crawling through your veins that made you anxious. Something was going to happen— you were sure of it, but you couldn’t quite place your finger on it. So you just set the feeling aside and sped over to the steakhouse that your date was being held at, paying for a valet parking spot and taking a seat at your table.
And that’s when you got the text.
[from] seb <3: Hey sweetheart. I’m running a little late, is that okay with you?
You felt a sigh tumble past your lips. There wasn’t really much you could do other than just deal with it, so you informed him that it was all alright and that you would just order an appetizer to hold you over.
You were doing fine until you saw a figure outside the large glass windows that faced the front of the restaurant. It was someone in an all black suit, with two braids running down their back. And you would’ve suspected it was someone else until you look at the shoes that they were wearing— that being a pair of limited edition Jordan’s.
It was Miles.
Chambering up from your slumped position in your chair, y you watched as he spoke to some waitress about something, expressing his feelings through his hands. You felt a scoff hitch in your throat— he’s never that expressive, so clearly something was up.
Wait.
Why should you care?
You have a boyfriend.
But something was still wrong, you could feel it.
Your eyes fixated on him as he walked towards your table, and your blood immediately ran cold when you saw him smirk at you, pulling out the reserved chair in front of yours, taking a seat on it. He folded his hands on top of the table, cocking his head to the side, “Nice to see you again, mi vida.”
“Don’t.” You warned shakily, shifting in your seat in full discomfort, “Leave. I won’t ask you again.”
“This chair was a lil’ empty before I got here, don’t you think, ma?” He questioned you, picking up a menu as his eye scanned the contents of it. “What you gon’ order? I’ll have whatever you have.”
“Morales.” You spat, venom laced within the mention of his name as your bracelet-clad wrist slammed against the table. It doesn’t phase Miles, though— his stoic expression still remaining, playing on his strong facial features.
Miles scoffs, a sarcastic and playful grin residing on his lips, “¿Que pasa, mami? You ain’ miss me?”
“Why are you doing this?” You questioned, but your inquiry is provided with no answer. Instead, Miles sets the menu down and looks at you with intense eyes, fire reigning in their irises as he speaks.
“I’m not gon’ sit here and front, Y/N, but that new, shitty excuse for a man you call yo’ boyfriend?” He tuts, “He not the one for you.”
You give him a disgusted look, “I can’t believe you would say that.”
“It’s just the truth. I’ve seen all the pictures on Instagram and whatnot, and sure, y’all cute. I’m not even tight about it- but y’all just don’t look right together. And he prolly not who you think he is-“
You immediately stand to your feet, hands grasping either sides of the table as you lean in close to the man in front of you— so close that your noses are practically touching. “You shut the hell up.” You hiss, “You have no right to come here and give me a piece of your mind on somethin’ that don’t even effect you. So you get up, and go home, or I’ll make it happen my own damn self.”
There’s a pause of silence for a moment before Miles chuckles at you, leaning back in your seat. Your teeth sink into your bottom lip so hard that it ought to draw blood, but you’re doing it to prevent the provoking of you screaming across the restaurant at him. He looks up at you with hard eyes, licking his lips, “Aight. I’mma let that slide, because you prolly hurt, and I understand. But I’m tellin’ you that he ain’t no good. I’ve seen it. I know. I ain’t come here to win you back or nun- I came here because I actually care, but you can’t seem to get that through your thick skull.”
Something about the way that his sentences roll of his tongue push you to believe that he isn’t lying. You back off, crossing your arms, “If you claim to know all this, then what is he hiding?”
“Come outside with me.” He says, standing up and heading for the door, just like that. And you follow him, because you know that his statement was much more of an order then a question.
It’s late now, the moon shining over the sidewalk that you and Miles both walk on. He grabs your shoulders and moves you to the inside, switching so that he’s now walking closest to the cars. Your heart pumps with anxiety and your mind is swirling with questions that your mouth can’t seem to form. All you can muster up is, “Why are you here?”
“I’m not tryna hurt you, hermosa,” he starts, exhaling before he continues on, “But I just can’t see you with him. I knew I made you upset and shit and that’s on me, I know, but after you left, everything you do seems to make me so sad. And I can promise you that that lil’ Sebastian dude is not gon’ treat you right.”
“You don’t know that.” You speak, continuing to walk until you realize that Miles has stopped. He’s standing in front of a window to another restaurant, and when you peek inside, your heart shatters at the view that awaits you.
It’s Sebastian, sitting with another woman who looks quite older than you are. There’s some sort of ring on the table and you assume it’s a promise ring, because it’s just in a simple box that’s from Pandora. You immediately tear up, and Miles opens his arms and engulfs you in his embrace, although it’s unwanted from you at first, he still does it anyway. You’re crying in his coat as he soothingly rubs circles on your exposed back, “I told you. I wanted to beat his ass but I knew if I did it without seeing you, you would be pissed off.” He then tucks his index finger underneath your chin, “I’m sorry, mami.”
You know he means it because it’s something that he rarely says. It’s always ‘his bad’ and ‘his fault’, but when he tells you that he’s sorry, there’s not a hint of untruthfulness in his statement.
“Why do you do this to me?” You sniffled, looking up at Miles with soft, reddened eyes, “Why are you the only one that seems to treat me right? I can’t get away from you no matter how hard I try.”
Miles’ hand trails up from your waist to your cheek, where he leans in closer to you, “Because you’re mine forever. Do you not realize that? Do you not realize that I would kill for you? I would burn down this entire planet if it meant that no one else could touch you. But you’re so hellbent on thinking that your somebody is some random on the Internet. And it’s not. It’s me, Y/N. I’m here.” His voice gets quieter as his eyes soften, “Don’t go. Please.”
“Fuck,” you cursed, sniffling with a small chuckle as you looked at him, “I left because you never told me the truth. You were always sneaking around and I thought you were with some other girl.”
“I wasn’t, mi princesa, I promise that to you.” He starts, “We’ll talk about it later, but I was only looking out for you. Drop this piece of shit and come back to me, mama? Please?”
You’re shocked at Miles’ demeanor. Usually he’s so nonchalant and laidback, but now here he is, begging for you to take him back in the middle of the moonlight. There’s not a bone in your body that even pondered about saying no, though, and the smooth kiss that follows his statement is more than enough confirmation that you belong to him, that you were his.
And if you were speaking truthfully, you always were.

"Who do u love" "I love Gyu"
Gamer!Beomgyu x roomate reader, non-idol au
Tags -- Fluff, irl games, Make out session, cuddles, cod, gyu is a rage quiter
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"WOOOO HEADSHOT" You could hear even if you were actually there. If was your lovely and oh so quiet roomate, Choi Beomgyu. The biggest nerd youve ever seen. He was dorky with his messy dark brown hair. If he wasnt busy playing games he was working or napping. Often falling asleep on the couch after watching a whole series of k-dramas. However dispite all of this, you found him to be darling. The chocolate haired boy never failed to put a smile on your face as he would smile at you when you brought him food during his midnight gaming sessions.
It was 10pm on a friday, which is a normal gaming beomgyu hour. You were at the gas station picking up some extra snacks for you and beomgyu. He paid just a little bit more then you for rent so it was the least you could do. You walked around the aisles, your phone lights up with a message.
beargyu !: "Can u pick up some sour patch kids plsss 🤤"
Y/n: "yes i can anything else ?"
beargyu !: "A MONSTER 👹"
Y/n: "original im assuming"
beargyu !: "u know me sm OK BYE"
You close your phone and pick of the sour patch kids and two monsters. Last time you only brought one beomgyu got mad because he didnt have one for the morning. Now you always get 2 monsters for him. You actually have a list on your notes app for all the stuff he gets from different places. Down to the amount of pickles he wants on his burger. You start heading back to the apartment. Its not far from where you and beomgyu live so you often just walk.
You get back home and place your keys down and kick off your shoes, placing the snacks on the counter. You could already tell he was playing Modern Warfare just by the noises the TV was making. You lay on the couch for a bit. Too tired to really move around. You were a sleepy girl, not much someone can do there, well besides sleep. Which is what you did for about 15 minutes before your phone was being blown up by beomgyu telling you to hurry up. For all he knew you were still at the Corner store buying him snacks. Sitting up and stretching for a bit, you got up to grab the snacks.
You made him some Mac n cheese so he could have real food and not just snacks. For some weird reason the owners if the apartment never thought it was a good idea to get a modern day stove, so it takes 25 whole minutes just for the water to boil a bit. and whole 40 minutes later, it was ready. You got the bowl of mac n cheese and his monster and knocked on the door before opening it. And there he was, your adorable roomate yelling at the TV because some kid shot him. Placing the food down on the table you tapped him softly. "Gyu i made you food so you dont starve yourself mk?" He looks at you brightly as if you were a genie from a bottle and closes his game. He never liked to game and eat, something about the food being too good he doesnt do his best. "Thank you! Your the best, omg you even got the right shape for the noodles. Its like you were made for me" He says, smiling widely before taking a big bite of the food. All you could do was smile.
Once he finished he put his bowl away in the sink then headed straight back to gaming. By now it was almost 12 and beomgyu was still gaming away. Yoy thought too bring the sour patch kids he asked for. Putting them in a bowl so he doesnt have to dig around for them, and removing all the yellow ones. Beomgyu never liked the yellow sour patch even though you loved them. You brought the candy to beomgyu, as he turns to look at you as he flashes his one of a kind smile. It makes your heart flutter like it always does. "Y/N you have my candyyy ugh howd you know i was craving them right now" He ask but its not really a question, you just smile and giggle. "Im just magic" you said to him "You're welcomeee" you say leaving the room. "Thank you, love you" He replied. Which made your heart stop. You had always had a little crush on Beomgyu if it wasnt clear as day. He was exactly your type and he was major cute. You never wanted to act on it though incease he didnt feel the same and one of you would have to move out because of your feelings.
You chose not to think about it. Maybe it just slipped out, Friends say i love you all the time, he probably wasnt even thinking. You scroll through your phone for about half an hour before you hear an angry scream and a door slamming, along with a very pouty beomgyu. He sits next to you pn the couch with a loud huff sound. "Oh no what happned" you say with a sorry look. "Some 12 year old just killed me in overwatch, he was actually cheating and he got the play of the game!" Poor gyu you thought for a bit before he laid ontop of you. He always does this when he loses a game. He comes to you with that adorable pouty face and cuddles you. "Is there anything i can do to make you feel better" you said softly, messing with his hair. It goes quiet for a bit and you think he's fallen asleep when you here. "You could kiss me" What. The words leave his mouth and all of a sudden your at a loss for words. He just said you could kiss him, AND IT WOULD MAKE HIM FEEL BETTER? "Only if you want me to.." you say softly in return. And that was all beomgyu needed before he shuffled up and planted a quick kiss on your lips.
Both of your faces turned red, beomgyus ears turning the same shade as well. Next thing you knew, you kissed him, deeper and more passionate this time. He returned the kiss putting his hands on your waist. Wrapping your arms around his neck. Your lips moved in sync with one another. Passion and romance filled the room. Beomgyu licked your lips as a way to ask to add tongue to the kisses, and you happily open up your mouth a bit to let him in. These kisses last for what seems only a fee minutes, but you both stop due to the fact that air is needed to be alive.
"Idk ive just always had feelings for you" he said softly, "I mean how could i not, your so pretty and sweet, and loveable. Your eyes are so soft, and you always seem to just know me its amazing." He lets his thoughts run free from his brain to his mouth. And you dont mind. "Like you get me food and hold me when in sad, you never judge me. You take out the yellow sour patch even thought i do like them, i just tell you to take them out so you can eat them because i know theyre your favorite. But i told you i didnt like them once, and that was 6 months ago" You couldnt help but giggle and give him another kiss. "Oh gyu your so silly, thats one of the main reasons i fell for you" you say smiling and plant a kiss on his forehead. You were so happy, nothing else was said that night as you and beomgyu fell asleep on the couch, not caring what back problems came the next day

Her First White Christmas
Pairing: Timmy x Reader
Warnings: None. Just pure fluff and Christmas joy!
A/N: Wrote this last night in one hour.
Her First White Christmas
When Timmy heard that y/n had never had a proper traditional Christmas it nearly broke his heart, but y/n just shrugged her shoulders “We couldn’t afford a proper Christmas, daddy was always working but it didn’t pay very well. Momma had to stay at home to take care of us. So there was only one income coming into the house.” Timmy looked at her with sad eyes as he listened to her playing with her hair.
“We didn’t care so much about the presents but we would all sit on the couch with a blanket and watch Christmas movies, with some treats. My favourite Christmas movies were the ones where the snow would fall and the place would be white and sparkle like diamonds on the ground.” She smiles snuggling into him, Timmy looked at her and tilted his head furrowing his brows. “Wait, you’ve never seen snow except in a movie?” She shook her head, “I grew up in California baby.” He nodded absently playing with her hair.
Living in New York City there was always a guarantee it would snow, especially during Christmas. So if he planned it perfectly his y/n would have her first white Christmas, and he would make sure she would get it.
They were out Christmas shopping and y/n went off on her own to get Timmy’s gifts for both his Christmas and his birthday and Timmy went to get hers.
Timmy was checking his weather app religiously checking to see when the snow would arrive in New York, a snowstorm was on its way to New York City on the 20th of December and would last all through Christmas time. Normally it would be awful but Timmy was excited, finally his plans were coming together perfectly.
Over the next few days they did the Christmas, watched Christmas movies, they put the Christmas tree up choosing a white one instead of green and decorated the whole apartment. Timmy looked in every dvd store in New York searching for the movies she watched with her family as a child and bought all the treats and snacks and they snuggled together watching all of the movies, they wrapped all the gifts they got and put them away and baked Christmas cookies.
When the time came for the snowstorm to arrive, Timmy had pulled down all of the blinds and drew the curtains the night before, using the excuse it was to keep the place warm during the night, but he wanted to surprise her with the snow outside.
The next morning he woke up early and peaked out his bedroom window and smiled, he slid back into bed beside her and began kissing her shoulder to wake her up and rubbed his hand up and down her side and whispered her name “Baby, wake up. There’s something I want you to see.”
She hummed as her eyes fluttered open and she turned to look at him smiling blinking a few times. “Good morning, my sweet.”
She sat up, stretching and looked around, “Why’s it so bright?”
He smiled and took her hands in his signalling her to stand up and follow him.
She followed him into the living room rubbing her eyes as he stood her in the middle of the living room, as he walked hurriedly to the large bay window and smiled grabbing the cord “Merry Christmas, Baby!”
She gasped feeling her eyes go wide as she placed her hands over her gaping mouth as she saw all the white powder along the window sill. She squealed and ran over to the window looking down at the street below coated in white.
“It’s like a winter wonderland out there!” She turned to see his wide smiling face and jumped into his arms giggling. “We’ve got a snowstorm over Christmas.”
He chuckled against her neck, holding her tight against him.
They moved apart and she looked out the window again smiling like a small child, as he watched her look at every building she could set her eyes on, “If you want to get dressed and wrapped up warm we could go outside?” She turned smiling wide and nodded her head and ran back into the bedroom to get organised.
An hour later after showering breakfast after Timmy insisted they eat first they walked downstairs onto the snowy white streets of New York City just as the snow was starting to fall again. She ran outside holding his hand and looked up at the grey sky as the snowflakes landed on her head and in her hair, she giggled and jumped around before bending down and picking up a handful of snow in her gloved hand, feeling the texture.
“Thank you!” She turned to him smiling and wrapped her arms around his waist.
“For what?” He asked looking down at her,
“For giving me my first White Christmas”
He smiled and pecked her lips gently and held her close
“Happy White Christmas, my Queen!”

Downtown Winter Nights | Bucky Barnes (7th Day of 🎄)
Tumblr media
(Credits to the owner of this pic!)
I wrote another little somethin’ for y’all! I hope you enjoy! 🩵
Christmas Masterlist <- check out my other holiday fics!
~~~~
“Well, it’s not called the “Windy City” for nothin’, that’s for sure.” Bucky commented as he wrapped his scarf around his head and covered face. We stepped off of the CTA train and walked hand in hand outside, feeling that familiar cold breeze of downtown Chicago hit our faces. “C’mon, it’s not that bad. You grew up in New York.”
“Doll, it’s colder here than back home. I’m more worried for you.”
“It’s only 39°F. It’spractically 40! That’s considered warm here.”
“Yeah and back home it’s..” he quickly pulled out his phone and opened up the weather app. “.. it’s 48°F.”
“It could’ve been colder. We’ve had worse.”
He shook his head and stopped in his tracks, turning to face me and adjusted my hat to help keep my head warm. “I just don’t want you getting sick, sweetheart.” My heart fluttered as he took off his scarf to put around me, but I held my hand up stopping him. “Bucky, I’ll be fine – I promise. I grew up here, I’m used to the harsh winters.”
“But you haven’t been here in a few years.”
“I know what to expect.” I smiled and grabbed his scarf, reaching up and wrapping it back around him. “Honestly, seeing you without a scarf would make me feel colder, if that somehow makes sense.” I chuckled. “Just wear it. For me?”
He furrowed his eyebrows and pursed his lips, slowly nodding. I smiled and grabbed his scarf, bringing his head down close to mine and planted a kiss on his lips. “C’mon, let’s go check out Millennium Park. That’s where our tree is located.” He smiled and grabbed my hand in his, letting me lead the way.
We passed by so many stores that had beautiful window decorations that made Bucky want to stop for a moment and check them out, just like many other individuals did to admire the work that went into it. I took out my phone and snapped a few photos of him as discreetly as possible before we continued our way and made it to our destination.
There, people stood behind multiple booths selling their goodies to the people of Chicago. Christmas music played and the smell of baked goods wafted through the air, making me excited to try what people are giving away. I stood next to him, linking our arms together as we waited in line to buy ourselves some hot chocolate.
“I bet this booth is gonna end up being the most popular. This is the one way you got to help stay warm.”
He bought two cups and handed me the first one before grabbing his. We walked off and decided to stand (more like lean) against a rail, overwatching people ice skating in the middle of the park. I brought the cup up to my lips and took a small sip of the hot liquid. “Mmm..” I moaned in delight, savoring the taste of chocolate once it hit my tongue. “Yep, this is how they get ya.” I chuckled. “Once I finish this, I’m gonna want another.”
“Told you.” He laughed and took a sip of his drink. I held the cup in my hands and softly smiled to myself. I’ve been wanting to show Bucky my hometown ever since we got together and what better way to show him than during the holidays. I used to come here when I was younger with my family and we’d just walk around at night and admire the city lights.
Sure, it’s been some time since I’ve done this, but it still feels and looks the same. I heard the snap of a camera and looked up at Bucky, noticing he had his phone in his free hand with a grin on his face. “Smile!”
I laughed and shook my head, covering my face with my other hand as he continued snapping photos of me. “Nooo! I bet I look ridiculous! Delete them!”
“Doll, you’re the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen! You took photos of me. Seems only fair I do the same.”
“You noticed?”
“I did, now smile for me baby.”
I giggled and brought my hand in front of me and puckered my lips, as if blowing a kiss to the camera. “Beautiful.” He looked down at his phone and scrolled through the photos, admiring his work. “I really love this one.” He stopped on the picture of me smiling down at my hot chocolate. “You look cute.” I felt my cheeks heat up with affection towards this man I get to call mine.
“C’mon, let’s go check out that 45 foot tree you’ve been dying to see.” He smiled as I linked our arms together once again and followed him to the biggest tree in the park. People of all ages stood around it taking all kinds of photos. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone,swiping to get to the camera and asked a random person I could find to take a photo of me and Bucky.
They nodded and grabbed my phone, getting ready into position to take a picture. He wrapped his arm around my back and pulled me close to him, while my hand held up the cup of hot chocolate. We both smiled as the flash went off on my phone, snapping a picture.
“Here you go!” They walked towards me and handed me back my device. “Thank you so much!” I quickly went to photos to look at the picture as Bucky walked up to me. “How’d it turn out?” I smiled at him and put my phone back in my pocket.
“Perfect.”
He smiled back at me and turned to his side, something immediately catching his attention.
“Hey, doll?”
“Yeah?”
“Can you get us some food? I just gotta go do somethin’ real quick, I promise. I’ll be right back.” I nodded my head as he quickly reached into his pocket and pulled out a $20 from his wallet and handed it to me. “Go nuts, baby.” He smiled and began walking away. “Where are you going?”
He walked backwards so he could face me and still go to wherever it is he’s planning. “Can’t tell you yet. You’ll find out.” He winked and then he was gone before I could question him further. I looked down at my hot chocolate and drank the last of whatever was left inside. The cups aren’t that big anyway, so it wasn’t a lot. Once that was done, I threw it away in a bin nearby and sighed.
I just shook my shoulders and glanced around the many booths before finding what I was looking for and quickly stood in front of the man selling one of Chicago’s most talked about dishes. Since we’re in the Windy City, I figured he should at least try the all famous Chicago hot dog. A poppy seed bun, mustard, relish, chopped onions, tomatoes, peppers, a cucumber spear and just a dash of celery salt – mmm! There isn’t anything better!
“Thank you! Have a good night!” The man spoke as he handed me back my change so I could put it away. I grabbed the two hot dogs and smiled. “Thank you – you too!” I walked away and took a moment to look at where Bucky went, but couldn’t find him. I walked until I found a bench to sit down on as I waited for him. I felt like I looked like a complete fatass right now. Here I am, with two hot dogs in my hands and one of them already being bit into.
“Hey!” I heard Bucky call out to me as he found me and sat down on the bench. He leaned in and kissed my cheek as I smiled against him and handed him his hot dog. “Thank you.” He took it from my hands as I turned my body towards his as he took a bite out of his food.
“Where did you go?” I asked. “Mmm… I uh..” He chewed his food and licked his top lip as he pointed behind me. “.. Saw somethin’ real cool…” I tried to look at where he motioned to, before he shook his head and lifted his hand to my face. His fingers softly gripped my chin and turned my attention back towards him.
“Uh – uh, let’s just finish this first. I don’t want you to try to figure it out before I show you.” He smiled and took another bite of his hot dog as I let out a chuckle. We sat there watching as people continued to crowd the tree and take photos. With each bite, my mind continued to wonder about whatever “cool” thing he saw. What could he have seen that I didn’t?
I know I haven’t been here in a while, but was there something different that I just didn’t notice before? Did the city of Chicago add somethin’ new since I’ve been gone? Most likely, if I’m being honest. It is a city.
“I know your head is just racing with what my little surprise could be.” He laughed and scrunched up the wrapper in his hands, finished with his food. “Once you finish eating, then we’ll – ” I plopped the last bit of hot dog into my mouth and scrunched up the wrapper.
He just looked at me with an amused smile as I dusted off my hands and swallowed the last remaining bit of food in my mouth. “Done.”
“Damn little lady, you sure can put it away.” I laughed and playfully hit his shoulder. “Shut up.” He stood up and held his hand out for me to take. I slid my hand in his as he lifted me up and grabbed my garbage along with his and threw it away in the trash bin. “Alright..” he tilted his head to the side as if to say ‘let’s go’. “Follow me.”
He grabbed my hand in his and led me out into the streets of Chicago. There, a few feet away, a horse carriage waited to take its next passengers on a trip. I slowed down for a moment as he looked back at me, his smile not leaving his face.
“You didn’t..”
He nodded.
“I did.”
I bit my lip to try to stop the smile forming on my face as he led us both to the carriage. He held up his phone to show he had purchased a ticket and the man in the front seat nodded. “Hop in.”
I stepped inside and sat down on the seats, Bucky following right after me as he sat next to me. We got ourselves comfortable and then we were off. The stomping of the horses hooves hitting the streets of Chicago echoed as the city lights twinkled in the night sky.
“What do ya think, sweetheart? You like it?” He asked as I smiled and nodded my head. “I love it!” He cuddled up closer to me and wrapped his arm around my shoulders, my hand instantly reached up so I could intertwine our fingers together. “This was so unbelievably sweet of you to do this.”
“Anything for my best girl.” He leaned in and kissed my temple. “You know I love surprising you.” I looked up at him and noticed a little white flurry had landed on top of his head, a telltale sign indicating that it had started to snow.
“And here it comes. It’s gonna be a bitch to get home now.”
I laughed and snuggled up to him. “Ahh, we’ll be okay. It’s not fat snow.” The view almost looked like I had ripped it out of a Hallmark movie with how slowly the snow was falling and the Christmas lights hung on every street corner. He lifted himself up a bit and reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone.
He opened the camera app and held it up so we could both be seen on the screen. “Can you please smile for the camera, baby?” I looked up and smiled widely as he snapped a photo. He leaned down and kissed my cheek as I let out a laugh, thus resulting in him taking another. After a few more, we decided we were done for the night and he put his phone back into his pocket.
“You know, I gotta say, I’m really happy you brought me here.” He smiled down at me. “Really?” he nodded and glanced up at the twinkling lights. “Even though it is 39°F and it’s colder here than it is back home.. but all things considered though, I had a lot of fun tonight.”
“I did too.”
Once our carriage ride was came to a stop, we both knew it was over. We looked around and noticed we were right back where we first started. Bucky hopped off first and quickly turned around and stretched his hand out towards me to help me climb off. “Such a gentleman.” I took his hand as he helped me down.
“I can’t have you accidentally falling on my watch.” He laughed as I playfully rolled my eyes as we began walking away. “Hey, that was one time. That extra step on the stairs had it out for me.”
“Oh, of course it did, sweetheart. That’s why you had Tony install rails.”
“I’m your damsel in distress. I need my knight in shining armor to catch me and if you’re not there, my rails will be.”
“Well, not all rails are trustworthy. Someone even break apart and let you fall..” I gasped and hit his shoulder. “I thought we said no trauma dumping this week!”
“Sorry! Sorry, I forgot!”
The Beauty Inside (2015) Review & General Thoughts
That’s right, I’m reviewing a K-Movie and not a K-Drama.
As a disclaimer, I haven’t seen the original American web-series from 2012 nor the K-Drama that resulted from this movie, so I’m reviewing this movie as it’s own entity and not on how good of a remake/adaptation it is.
As always, this is going to be spoiler free!
Tumblr media
Genre(s)
Romance • Fantasy • Melodrama • Drama
Ratings
Rated PG on Viki, rated as 13+ on MDL, rated PG-14 on tubi and YouTube
Where To Watch/How To Watch
Viki • iQIYI • Prime Video • tubi • YouTube • Kocowa+ • Prime Video • Freevee • Rent for $3.99 or Buy for $6.99 on Apple TV • Pluto TV
(You can watch it FOR FREE on Tubi, Youtube, Freevee and Pluto TV with ads, as well as, of course, your favorite illegal streaming site of choice)
Note: I live in the United States, so the only platforms that I have access to and know for sure currently have this movie available in the region are the ones listed, but it’s possible other regions have apps that have this.
Synopsis
This movie is about Woo Jin, a man who designs furniture for a living. An unusual man, Woo Jin wakes up every morning with a new body, which can be any age, gender, race or nationality.
Accustomed to his supernatural “illness,” he lives a relatively solitary existence aside from his childhood best friend who he works with and occasionally visiting his mother.
When he meets Yi Soo one day at a furniture store, he instantly falls in love with her. After visiting her as different people for several days, he eventually musters up the courage to ask her out. Staying up for three days in a row in order to stay in the same body, he dates her and she ends up falling in love with him.
Review
This movie is really good! If you’ve been sitting on this movie wondering if you should watch it, I’m going to have to tell you that it’s very much worth watching (and doing so again and again!)
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, so much so that I wound up rewatching it immediately after finishing the first watch of it!
All of the actors who played Kim Woo Jin did a truly great job of creating a consistent character for him, which really must have been challenging considering all the actors who play him only do so for such an incredibly brief window of time. The only one who lasts more than a day is Park Seo Joon.
Han Hyo Joo was AMAZING, she absolutely nailed her role and it’s so easy to see why Woo Jin fell in love with her character. I feel like this movie really allowed her to show off her various talents as an actor because she had great chemistry with each of the different Woo Jin, she spoke in three different languages (Korean, Japanese, and English) that she is proficient in, and did a fantastic job of making her character come to life and be someone the audience can sympathize with and fall in love with too.
The OST is really good (in my opinion) and nothing really felt too out of place or anything.
I love the message(s) of this movie, which boil down to “love is love” and loving someone for who they are on the inside and not based on their outward appearances. It’s nothing particularly novel, but it was certainly tackled in novel way!
General Thoughts
This movie went to theaters in my country on my birthday eight years ago and I really wish I had been into K-Dramas and stuff back then because I soo would have watched this and would have thoroughly enjoyed it. It might even have been one of those things that made me realize that I’m bi lol
Anyway, this movie had a lot of cute, sweet moments and I always love a couple who bond over a shared love of something (furniture, in this case). There were so many scenes that made my bi heart flutter!
For being technically a heterosexual movie, this is incredibly bisexual/pansexual and I’m quite sure it was fully intentional to be LGBTQIA+ because the font coloring for the movie is rainbow:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which, I loved by the way. Love a good rainbow gradient colored font. But also they didn’t at all shy away from having some GL scenes in there! Han Hyo Joo really had such amazing chemistry with all of the actors in the role of Woo Jin, which helped make it that much more believable that they were all the same character.
Tumblr media
As for the OST, I definitely came away from this movie wanting to hear “True Romance” by Citizens! over and over again:
Advice(?)
Definitely make sure to grab some tissues, there’s some scenes in this movie that will definitely make you cry!
Additionally, once the credits roll, don’t go away! This movie actually has a mid-credits scene, no spoilers, but it’s a nice little wrap up and worth sitting through the credits a little longer for!
Exploring the Difference Between Web Development and App Development
Tumblr media
Hey there, tech enthusiasts! So, you've heard about web development and app development, but you're not quite sure what sets them apart? Don't worry, I'll break it down for you in simple terms!
First things first, what exactly is web development? Well, think of it like building a house on the internet! Web development involves creating websites or web applications that can be accessed through a web browser, like Google Chrome or Safari. It's all about designing, building, and maintaining websites that people can visit and interact with online.
Now, let's talk about app development. This is like building a cozy little home on your smartphone or tablet! App development involves creating mobile applications that are installed directly onto your device, like games, social media apps, or productivity tools. It's all about designing, building, and maintaining applications that people can download and use on their mobile devices.
So, what's the difference between web development and app development? Here are a few key distinctions:
Platform: The biggest difference between web development and app development is the platform they're built for. Web app development services focuses on creating websites or web applications that are accessed through a web browser on desktop computers or mobile devices. App development, on the other hand, focuses on creating mobile applications that are installed directly onto a device and accessed through an icon on the home screen.
Technology: Web development typically involves technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for creating the front end (what users see and interact with) and languages like PHP, Python, or Node.js for creating the back end (the server-side logic). App development, on the other hand, often involves languages like Java or Kotlin for Android development, Swift or Objective-C for iOS development, or frameworks like React Native or Flutter for cross-platform development.
Distribution: Web applications are usually accessible to anyone with an internet connection and can be accessed through a web browser without the need for installation. Mobile applications, on the other hand, need to be downloaded and installed onto a device from an app store like the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
User Experience: The user experience of web applications and mobile applications can be quite different. Web applications are designed to work across different devices and screen sizes, so they often have a responsive design that adapts to fit the user's device. Mobile applications, on the other hand, are specifically designed for use on mobile devices and can take advantage of features like touch screens, GPS, and push notifications.
In conclusion, while web development and app development share some similarities, such as creating digital experiences for users, they also have key differences in terms of platform, technology, distribution, and user experience. Whether you're interested in building websites or mobile applications, both fields offer exciting opportunities to unleash your creativity and make an impact in the digital world!
Story under cut
Tumblr media
          Once back home, you both relax for a moment, music playing in the background softly. Then you were unpacking the bags. Showing Eddie how to use the new technology of the washer and dryer. To wash things from the thrift store. Smart washer and dryer, ones Blair insisted that they were a necessity because she forgets to flip over the loads without the stupid app.
          You left him to do it himself after you gave him a brief showing of knobs and buttons. Starting some easy pasta for dinner. Eddie wandered back into the kitchen and watched you for a moment with a soft smile before eyeing the black bags on the counter, not unpacked. He bit his lip to contain his smile as he slowly dragged on to him. He honestly didn’t know whose was whose, but he was hoping it was your bag. A soft glance in, and he cheered mentally, odds were in his favor.
          He slowly took out the items, a rose-shaped thing, a basic dildo, a sensation gel it seemed, then he saw the one he assumed was your replacement. Box adverting all the specs, Eddie could feel himself heating up just thinking about easily he could replace, your little replacement. Then pulled out a few unexpected items. Lingerie, silky red lace, he swallowed hard trying to not picture it on you or he’d be hard with his next breath. And the last two; were toys he knew were meant for a couple. He’d eyed the exact ones when you were first off with Ket.
          “Eddie!” you cried, humiliation flushing through you. “That’s clearly my bag!” you rushed over and start putting the items back.
          “Sorry, I was too curious. Did Ket talk to you into all that?” Eddie couldn’t help his simper as you gathered the bag behind your back and you nodded shyly. “Hey it’s okay, I’m sorry, but also you did say you’d show me. Now you don’t have to, I just did it myself. But I do have to ask,” he chuckled when you looked at him with a glare that had no heat to it. “That panty vibe, have you ever used one?” you shook your head no. “Well, I’d be willing to, uh, use it with you,” he gave you a lopsided smile with a tilt of his head.
          The smile he had was so fiendish it made your breath quicken. “Eds,” you whined softly. “S-stop teasing me, please.”
          “It’s hard not to when you look so good when I do,” he reached out to cup your face in both of his hands. “And knowing I made you this hot. Your sweet eyes,” he groaned in the back of his throat. “You’ve gotta tell me to walk away, or I’m ‘bout to kiss ya.”
          “I don’t kiss on first dates,” you muttered but gave a shaky exhale when he noticed you glance at his lips.
          “I’m happy to be an exception. Rules are meant to be broken, sweetheart.” He’s dangerously close and you can’t keep your eyes off his tantalizing plush lips. “Besides, I’m gonna be your last.”
          “Last?” you whispered, sighing as his warm breath fanned over you.
          “Last first date,” his lips almost touching yours. “Last everything and a few first,” he slots his lips to yours as soon your eyes flutter close at his proximity. Ripples of affection rolled through your flesh, leaving goosebumps in their wake. You weren’t too sure if was your moan or Eddie’s, or hell maybe even both of you did. Eddie’s hand trailed to the back of your neck, tenderly shifting your head to deepen the kiss. Velvet lips glided against yours as you dropped the bag to grip onto him. Needing the purchase as you felt your knees wobble.
          One hand balling into his shirt to bring him closer and the other pushing into his hair. Eddie dropped a hand to your hip to bring you flush to him. You gasped as your back hit the wall, you hadn’t even noticed him backing you up. You could feel his smile in the kiss causing you to giggle as the kiss got sloppier and became pecks. Quick presses of his lips all over your face until you give a breathy laugh.
          His hands dart to tickle you, one to your side and the other to your hip. You squealed and squirmed against him, trying to escape.
          “Eddie!” you gasped for breath when he pinched you slightly.
          A sinister chuckle is all you got before you were giving him slurs of stop stop stop. He bit his lip before resting his hands on your waist. Staring into your glossy eyes from unshed tears from laughter.
          “You’re so sexy.” He breathed softly before kissing you chastely. Hands lovingly following the shape of your figure.
          “If you say so,” you sighed happily, pushing your burning face into the crook of his neck.
           “Oh, I do, Angel,” Eddie pulled you back from the wall a bit to embrace you tightly.
           “So, my last everything, huh?” you mumbled at his neck, lips brushing against his skin there.
          “If you’ll have me. Whatever doubts, worries, or fixed ideas you have already about how this should go with us. Just sweep them away, please. Because this-” he embraced you harshly, laughing when you wheezed a bit before loosening his hold “-it feels s’right. Can barely hold myself back right now, but I want to, to show you. Show you how much I want to cherish you.”
          “Eds,” you pulled back to look at him. “We just met, and yea you can do whatever you want. But jumping into a new world and into a relationship before you’ve even had time to be alone. Before we’ve gotten to know each other, truly. That doesn’t seem healthy.”
          “I need you. You need me. Can’t we just leave it at that?” he sighed sadly then pouted as you pulled away from him. “Sweetheart?”
          “Blair said that to me,” you lamented. “After one of our big fights on my insecurities.” You backed up more when he took another step towards you.
          “So what? It’s true for me as well.”
          “How much of what you’re saying is you? How do we know it’s not just Blair’s memories, her love from those memories, just seeping into you? So now you only think you want me.”
          Eddie took a large step toward you, grabbing your hand and putting it to his chest. His heart was hammering against your palm. “Even if that was true. You did this to me, just by kissing me, laughing with me, that didn’t come from memories. I have never felt like this, my body has never felt like this with anyone in my life. Not the way I do with you. Don’t get paranoid about Blair’s recollections in my mind. I stole a sweet line from one, but I don’t mean it any less.”
          You looked down at your feet, allowing Eddie to pull you back to him.
          “I loved getting to know you through her eyes, but I don’t need them. I can ask her to take them away. Then I can make fresh ones with you. Please, pretty girl, don’t discount my feelings because I plagiarized something.”
          That got you to giggle and you felt Eddie relax at the sound. You hugged him back. “You really feel that comfortable with me?”
          “Never felt so natural from another being. Only from my hobbies. Fantasy game and playing guitar, but you, I just need to be near you. I feel on top of the world.”
          You nuzzled your fervid face back into the curve of his neck. “I feel like I’m gonna catch fire. So, zip it, don’t know if I can take any more compliments right now.”
          “Pfft, like you can talk. Spouted like 10 rapid-fire compliments at me while on our date. Talk about unfair standards, sweetheart,” he huffed playfully while rubbing your back.
          “Shit!” you pulled back from Eddie in hurry, rushing to the stove and then draining the pasta. Eddie chuckled softly as you tried the pasta and made a face. “Okay, so, um, it’s overcooked. Someone distracted me.” You stuck your tongue out at him.
          “Worth it. What else we got that’s quick?”
          “Microwavable stuff, check the freezer, I’m gonna dump this mush.” You sighed.
Tumblr media
          You were nearly in Eddie’s lap while helping him set up and figure out his phone. You glared at him a few times; you could tell he was playing dumb sometimes. Leaning closer and closer to you.
          “I think I got it all.” Eddie leaned back, from you, back into the cushions, relaxing a bit. “Man, this is cool.” He said while staring at the screen, scrolling through band info on the internet.
          “It can get addicting though, so just make sure you’re not on it all the time.” Eddie nodded in response. “Oh, do you wanna text the guys from GameDen to get deets on their campaign; when you can join and all that?”
          “Yea,” Eddie sat forward to have you watch him do it. “Just say who I am and ask how they are first, right?”
          “You can do the small talk or you can just be like; Hey this is Eddie, we met at GameDen. You said I could join your party. Can you let me know when? So, I can have my character ready.”
          “You’re good,” Eddie teased, typing out what you said. “You don’t like the small talk, do you, in text?”
          “Not really. Not in general. Rather just get to the point. I don’t text a lot, mainly because the only person I would bother to text, lives with me. I usually just call, because my boss and parents don’t like texting because they’re older. If I’m on my phone. I’m reading, watching something, scrolling through memes, or a social. I send a lot of memes and TikToks to Blair. It’s how I mainly communicate with her. I just see something and think of her, so I send it to her.”
          “Will you send me some?”
          “If you’d like.” Eddie nodded at you with a smile before looking back to his phone. “They haven’t replied?”
          “No, does it take a while?”
          “Sometimes, if they don’t respond. You have the other numbers, don’t worry.” You patted his thigh before standing up, stretching a bit. “What you wanna do, hun?” you looked down at him.
          “Think I wanna go play my guitar a bit.” He glanced up at you, not missing the slight sadness in your eyes for a moment. But it was gone in a blink, he stared at the fake smile you plastered on.
          “That sounds great. We can call it a night. I gotta get ready for bed anyways. Goodnight Eds, see ya tomorrow,” you started to walk off.
          Eddie quickly got up and grabbed your arm to turn you to him. “Everything okay?”
          “Yeah?” you titled your head confused.
          “So, I just imagined that flit of sadness when I said I wanted to play my guitar? And where is my goodnight kiss?” he huffed it all out in a quick breath.
          You propped up on your tippy toes to kiss his cheek. “G’night.” Your brow furrowed when he still didn’t let go. “Are you okay?”
          “No, tell me what’s wrong? We just started dating and you’re already hiding things from me and I don’t like it.”
          “Dating?” you murmured softly.
          “Did my confession of how you make me feel make you think otherwise?”
          “I just didn’t want to assume, usually putting a label on something, ends badly for me. I get too attached, clingy.”
          “I asked if you’d have me. But fine I’ve got no issue with you clinging to me, Angel. Will you be my girlfriend?” he smiled at your flustered state while you nodded. “Words, sweets.”
          “Y-yes. If that’s what you want.”
          “Oh, it is.” He encircled his arms around you. “Just so you know, I expect morning and nightly kisses. Real ones.” He seamed his mouth to yours savoring your soft whine. Barely pulling away, so his lips would brush against yours as he spoke. “Now, tell me what you were sad about with me wanting to go play guitar?”
          “Didn’t want the date, or night, to end. Just wanted to stay with you. But you deserve alone time and it is late, so…” you trailed off and glanced over your shoulder to your room. “So, I was just going to go to bed. Well maybe read a bit then bed. I’ve got work in the morning anyways.”
          “We’ll have other dates, better ones, this isn’t the end. Do you wanna go get ready for bed then come to my room while I dick around? You can read on my bed until you’re sleepy enough.” Eddie couldn’t help his little amused huff at your bright smile and quick bob of your head.
Tumblr media
          Eddie had changed into some loose pants and was shirtlessly lounging on his bed. Back barely touching the headboard. Headphones on to hear his guitar while playing with the adaptions and equipment you bought him. He left the door open for you and smiled when he saw your figure there. But gave you a confused look when you were in far more clothing than he’d seen you in before to sleep.
          He pushed down his headphones to talk to you before you could reach the bed. “What’s with all this?” he gestured to you.
          You looked down at your body confused. You were in a long sleeve shirt and comfy sweats. “What you talkin’ ‘bout?”
          “Are ya really going to wear that to sleep?” he raised a suspicious eyebrow at you that disappeared into his fringe.
          “No?”
          “Then what’s with the getup?”
          You giggled softly. “Eddie, I don’t wear anything to bed. I just pull on whatever I can reach when I wake up.”
          “Shit, sweetheart, you can’t just say things like that.” Eddie gripped at his heart before slumping back on his bed.
          “You asked!” you tittered before sitting at the foot of his bed.
          “How am I supposed to behave knowing my voluptuously hot girlfriend sleeps naked just down the hallway from me?!” Eddie whined.
          “Pffft,” you giggled. “Not like we both don’t have toys and good imaginations to handle it ourselves.”
          “Wait, no, you said you didn’t have a good imagination, that’s why you don’t play D&D.”
          “I didn’t expect you to remember that,” you stammered.
          “Well, I did, now level with me. What do you mean?”
          “Ya know, to get off, I’ve gotta think of something. Reading helps, I can just replay those spicy scenes to ya know, get there, finish. I don’t really have a good imagination; I just reuse things or think up something I want.”
          “Woah, what, what?! You read porn?!” You squeaked at his shocked tone. “Little Precious Angel, my ass! What do you read? Show me.” Eddie gently yet quickly put down his guitar and headphones. Then crawled down to you. Chortling as you stuttered and shyly tried to hide your phone.
          “Eddie!” you squealed as you tried to keep hold of your phone. You let go and he flopped back with the prize and gave a victorious shout. “Not like you can unlock it and find it anyways,” you grumbled.
          “No, I saw your code when you showed me Rainbow in the Dark. But you’ve gotta tell me where you read.”
          “Eds, no! You don’t need to know. Just find your own porn.” You tried to reach for it.
          “Unless you’re offering to make me a few videos or make a film with me, I don’t care. I wanna know what you’re reading, you little scamp. I can’t believe I thought you were this sweet innocent thing. Angel,” Eddie mocked with a cackle while unlocking your phone.
          “Y-you,” you were beyond flustered by this conversation.
          “Where? Which app is it?” Eddie started thumbing through the apps on your phone. “I’ll open every single one until I find it.”
          “You won’t find it like that then,” you muttered, you took his confused face as an opportunity to grab your phone. “Haa!” you triumphed then shrieked as Eddie gripped you and wrestled you to the mattress. Pinning you down, knocking the breath out of your chest. All this talk and now him basically manhandling you with unforeseen strength, you whimpered.
          Heavy breathing was the only sound in his room as you both stared into each other’s eyes. Eddie’s body was arched over yours, his hands still affixed to your wrists. “Jesus Christ,” he groaned before leaning in to graze his lips against yours. “Shit, how did I get so lucky?” he whispered, mainly to himself before gingerly lying his body onto yours. “This okay?” he asked sheepishly.
          “Uh-huh,” you mumbled before lifting your head a bit to capture his lips again in a sudden burst of confidence. You hummed into his mouth when he teasingly brushed his tongue against the seam of your mouth. You let your head fall back to the bed and Eddie followed, claiming your mouth again desperately.
          Eddie didn’t mean to, but he rutted his growing hard-on into your hip. Stopping himself when you whined at it. “Shit, sorry,” he panted.
          “S’okay, Eds, but maybe we should calm down?” you tugged at his grip on your wrist.
          He tightened his hold. “Tell me what you read.”
          “Just smut, like sex,” you muttered before looking away.
          “What it’s all just vanilla sex?” he teased.
          “No, no, it’s um, fuck, Eds, you don’t know about this stuff and I don’t wanna talk ‘bout it. Because it’s so mortifying to admit it for me.”
          “Babe,” he cooed tenderly. “I’d never judge you; it’d probably just turn me on.”
          You sputtered for a moment before coming to the realization Eddie isn’t going to let you go until you told him. “Okay fine,” you heaved. “So, you know how people like things, create things from liking that thing?” he nodded. “It’s usually called a fandom like you’re a fan of that thing, you find the community for it and you just create together.”
          “Like that artwork of me on one of the t-shirt booths in the mall?”
          “Yes, exactly. Stranger Things has its own fandom. That shirt would be fanart, and with drawing, there is also writing. Fanfiction, stories of the characters, but there are reader-insert stories. When it’s a story with a character or multiple and then you are able to just, kinda, put yourself into the story.”
          You could see the gears turning in his head, piecing it all together. “So, you read smut of characters you like, written by other fans?” You give him a stiff nod and swallowed. “What characters?” your breath got caught in your throat for a moment at the sudden desire in his eyes.
          “Y-you,” you were barely audible. His eyes widened at your admission.
          “Been reading about having sex with me? Then you remember those works. And use the memory to then masturbate to me as well?” you pressed your lips together and Eddie couldn’t help the swell in his chest. “Is that common, fanfiction?” he was trying to downplay the hammering of his heart. Block the idea of you writhing on your bed at the thought of him.
          “Y-ya,” you cleared your throat. “I think so at least, Blair, too.”
          “Cool, cool, coooolll,” Eddie droned until you started to giggle. He pecked a kiss on your nose and let you up. “Is that what you were going to read in here?”
          “Maybe fluffy stuff, but likely not, I have a book I’m trying to finish, I just keep forgetting about it.” You gave him a dry chuckle.
          “What book?” Eddie reclaimed his spot at the headboard and resituated this guitar onto his lap.
          You started going on about what you’ve read so far. Eddie gave you his attention, asking some questions here and there. And when you trailed off, you two just smiled at each other.
          Eddie put his headphones back on and you started reading your book. Occasionally Eddie would nudge your hand with his foot. Laughing childishly when you’d drop it and give him an unamused glare, blowing kisses at you.
          Although the next time he went to do it, you had fallen asleep, he watched you for a moment before glancing at his watch. The new one that linked to his phone, he’d forgotten what you called it, but he liked it. You’d picked it out and a badass chain to connect to the face plate.
          “It’s almost 9,” he whispered to himself. Eddie chewed his lip for a moment. Carefully getting up, hanging up his sweetheart, and placing the headphones on the desk. Eddie so wanted to just try and get you up the bed and cuddle with you. But maybe that was too soon, he’d already pushed so much today. He just worried if he didn’t just do what he wants, you’d sense it, you’d try to pull away.
          Goddammit, is this what love is? Just being so damn nervous all the fucking time? Scared to screw it up, worrying about all the trivial things? No, no, Eddie was just jittery. Jazzed up, he’s so happy. Fuck he’s so lucky. Love-struck and feeling like a damn pre-teen around this gorgeous thing. One that loves him back. Lying in his bed. Has made herself cum to the simple thought of him. No one could compare to you. You’re sweetness, you’re unselfish nature. He wants all the mundane cliché bullshit he hated before. Morning kisses, checking in on each other, going on dates, getting married, maybe a nugget or two, holidays, vacations, Jesus Christ. He just wanted everything with you.
          Eddie took a deep breath to relax his mind. Shaking you gently. “Angel,” he called out softly. When your eyes fluttered ever so slightly for him, he smiled at you brightly. “You fell asleep, we should go to bed. You’ve got work in the morning, right?”
          You bobbed your head slowly before sitting up. “Yeah, sorry, I’ll let you be and go get some shut-eye. Or I could accidentally bake myself,” you joked dryly while standing up.
          “You never told me, well I also never asked. What is it you do for work?” Eddie firmly held your hand, leading you back to your room.
          “Head Baker, Pastry Chef, Kitchen Manager, whahaveya, whatever it is. I handle just about everything in the kitchen and I work closely with the owner. A sweet old woman named Evie, no kids of her own. I might get to own it someday. I mean I basically do everything but the ordering of supplies and accounting. Or at least that’s how it feels.” Eddie was shocked. Mainly at the level you were at in your life. But also, how you were so coherent with your words, yet were nearly stumbling just down the hallway.
          “You’re amazing,” he let out a soft chuckle. “Do you manage all the people too? Like employees?”
          “No, Evie handles all that, I can’t be an axe man. Makes me wanna cry, I mean unless they like piss me off. I have the power; I just have never used it. Evie also handles all the café, coffee, beverage stuff. I make all the food and keep the kitchen in pristine order.”
          “That’s still a lot. Do you like it?”
          “I love it. I do worry about owning it. Don’t know if I could make it stay successful. So, I’ve just been slowly helping out with more responsibilities. Hiring more staff, to give over some of my current responsibilities. It’s a bit stressful, but I mean if I could own my café, it’d so be worth it. Not having a boss anymore. Granted Evie is amazing, but I mean she only comes in like once a week if that, makes bank, and doesn’t answer to anyone else. I mean like besides like bills and helping me and staff when needed. I would love that, the freedom.”
          “You’re so cute when you’re rambling yet almost dead asleep on your feet.” Eddie barked out a laugh when you stuck your tongue out at him. “Go to bed Angel, I’ll bother you tomorrow.”
          “You could never be a bother, my love,” you extended your head for a kiss. He eagerly scooped down to claim his goodnight kiss.
          “I’m gonna hold ya to that,” he muttered against your lips
          “Good,” you pulled him down to deepen the kiss for a moment before pulling away. “Night handsome.”
Mobile Application Development
In an era defined by technology, mobile applications have become a cornerstone of communication, entertainment, and business operations. With the rapid proliferation of smartphones and tablets, the demand for mobile apps has surged, compelling businesses and developers alike to embrace mobile application development (MAD) as a strategic imperative. This blog post delves into the intricacies of mobile application development, exploring its evolution, core components, methodologies, and the future landscape of this dynamic field.
The Evolution of Mobile Application Development
The journey of mobile application development dates back to the early 1990s, marking the inception of mobile software. The introduction of Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) in 1999 set the stage for the development of mobile applications for feature phones. However, it wasn’t until the launch of Apple's App Store in 2008 and Google Play in 2008 that the mobile application market truly began to flourish. These platforms democratized app distribution, enabling developers to reach millions of users globally.
Over the years, the evolution of mobile operating systems has played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of MAD. The rise of iOS and Android paved the way for sophisticated app development frameworks and tools, leading to the emergence of native, web, and hybrid applications. Each approach presents its own set of advantages and challenges, catering to diverse business needs and user preferences.
Core Components of Mobile Application Development
Mobile application development encompasses various components, each vital for delivering a seamless user experience. Here are the key aspects:
1. User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) Design
UI and UX design are critical for engaging users and ensuring ease of navigation within the app. A well-designed UI should be visually appealing and intuitive, while UX design focuses on optimizing the user’s interaction with the app. Understanding user behavior and preferences through research and testing is paramount in this phase. Considering that mobile screens are significantly smaller than desktops, designers must prioritize essential features and a streamlined flow to enhance usability.
2. Development Platforms and Technologies
Selecting the right development platform is crucial in the MAD process. The primary approaches include:
Native Development: Building apps specifically for a particular operating system (iOS or Android). This offers superior performance and access to device features but requires separate codebases for each platform.
Cross-Platform Development: Utilizing frameworks like React Native, Flutter, or Xamarin to create apps that run on both iOS and Android with a single codebase. This approach reduce development time and costs, though it may come with some compromises in performance.
Web-Based Applications: Mobile web apps are accessed through browsers on mobile devices. They are easier to maintain but may not provide the same user experience as native apps.
3. Backend Infrastructure
The backend infrastructure is responsible for handling data storage, management, and communication between the app and server. Cloud services such as AWS, Firebase, and Azure simplify backend development by providing robust hosting solutions, database management, and scalability options.
4. APIs (Application Programming Interfaces)
APIs facilitate communication between different software components, allowing apps to utilize functionalities from external services. For example, an app might use a payment gateway API to process transactions securely, enhancing the app's functionality without extensive internal development.
5. Testing and Quality Assurance
Quality assurance is paramount in mobile application development. Comprehensive testing methodologies, including functional, performance, usability, and security testing, are essential to identify and rectify issues before launching the app. Given the myriad of devices and operating systems available, cross-device and cross-platform testing ensures a consistent experience across different environments.
Methodologies in Mobile Application Development
The development process can vary significantly based on the chosen methodology. The two most widely adopted approaches include:
1. Agile Methodology
Agile emphasizes flexibility and iterative development, allowing teams to adapt to changing requirements throughout the development lifecycle. By breaking projects into smaller, manageable sprints, development teams can release points of functionality incrementally. This approach facilitates immediate feedback from stakeholders and users, leading to timely adjustments and refinement.
2. Waterfall Methodology
While somewhat traditional, the waterfall methodology remains relevant in certain projects. It follows a linear approach where each phase must be completed before the next begins. This structured model works well for projects with well-defined requirements. However, its lack of flexibility can be a drawback in a fast-paced environment where user needs may evolve.
The Future of Mobile Application Development
As technology advances, the landscape of mobile application development continues to transform. Several trends are shaping the future of MAD:
1. AI and Machine Learning Integration
Artificial intelligence and machine learning are enhancing user experiences by personalizing app functionalities. From chatbots to predictive analytics, integrating AI capabilities can improve customer engagement and streamline operations.
2. 5G Technology
The rollout of 5G technology promises faster connectivity and reduced latency, enabling the development of more sophisticated applications. This new standard will allow for more immersive experiences, such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) applications, which require high bandwidth.
3. Internet of Things (IoT)
As IoT devices proliferate, mobile applications will play a crucial role in managing and interacting with these interconnected devices, creating more integrated and efficient systems for users.
4. Sustainability and Ethical Development
With the growing emphasis on corporate responsibility, developers are being urged to create sustainable and ethical applications. This includes optimizing for energy efficiency, ensuring data privacy, and considering the long-term impact of technology on society.
Conclusion
Mobile application development is an ever-evolving field that demands innovation, technical expertise, and adaptability. As businesses continue to recognize the importance of mobile apps in driving engagement and revenue, the need for skilled developers and strategic development methodologies will only grow. By understanding the core components and embracing emerging trends, stakeholders can navigate the complexities of mobile application development and create impactful solutions that meet the evolving demands of users and the marketplace.
As we look to the future, the convergence of technology, user expectations, and ethical considerations will undoubtedly shape the next chapter of mobile application development. By following this guide, you’re not just launching an app—you’re stepping into the dynamic world of on-demand services with a product that could potentially revolutionize the way people book rides. So, are you ready to take the leap?
4oIn today’s fast-paced world, on-demand services are the norm, and the taxi industry is no exception. Apps like Bolt have revolutionized the way people book rides, offering convenience and efficiency at the tap of a button. But what if you want to create your own taxi booking app and bring your innovative ideas to the market? The good news is, with the right approach, you can launch a taxi booking app like Bolt in just one week. Here’s how.
Day 1: Market Research and Ideation
Understanding Your Market Before diving into development, it’s crucial to understand the market you're entering. Research your target audience, analyze competitors, and identify gaps in the market. What features do existing apps lack? What can you offer that will set your app apart?
Defining Your Unique Selling Proposition (USP) Your USP is what makes your app different from the competition. Whether it's superior customer service, faster ride times, or lower costs, define what will make your app the go-to choice for users.
Day 2: Setting Up the Technical Foundation
Choosing the Right Technology Stack Select a technology stack that will support scalability and performance. For a Bolt-like app, you'll need:
Frontend: React Native or Flutter for cross-platform compatibility.
Backend: Node.js or Python with Django for server-side logic.
Database: MongoDB or PostgreSQL for managing user and ride data.
APIs: Google Maps API for navigation, Twilio for SMS notifications, and Stripe for payment processing.
Hosting and Infrastructure Choose a reliable hosting service, such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, to ensure your app is secure and performs well. Set up your servers, databases, and cloud storage to handle user data and app functions.
Day 3: Designing the User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX)
Wireframing and Prototyping Create wireframes to map out the app’s structure. Focus on a user-friendly design with easy navigation. Use tools like Figma or Adobe XD to develop a prototype that gives a visual idea of what the final app will look like.
Focusing on UX A smooth user experience is key to retaining users. Ensure that the booking process is intuitive, from choosing a pickup location to tracking the ride in real-time. Incorporate feedback loops to keep users informed at every step.
Day 4: Development and Integration
Building the Core Features Start with the core functionalities:
User Registration and Login: Implement social logins and simple email sign-ups.
Ride Booking: Develop a module where users can select pickup and drop-off locations.
Driver Matching: Create an algorithm that matches users with nearby drivers.
Payment Gateway: Integrate secure payment processing options.
Integration of APIs Integrate essential APIs for maps, payments, and notifications. Make sure they work seamlessly with your app's backend and frontend.
Day 5: Testing and Quality Assurance
Conducting Unit and Integration Testing Test each component individually (unit testing) and then test how they interact together (integration testing). Look for bugs, crashes, and performance issues.
User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Involve a small group of potential users in testing the app. Gather feedback and make necessary adjustments to ensure the app meets user expectations.
Day 6: Deployment and Launch Preparation
Setting Up App Store Accounts Prepare to launch your app on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Set up developer accounts and ensure your app meets all guidelines for submission.
App Store Optimization (ASO) Optimize your app’s listing with relevant keywords, compelling descriptions, and eye-catching visuals to ensure it’s discoverable by potential users.
Pre-Launch Marketing Start building anticipation with pre-launch marketing. Use social media, email newsletters, and teaser videos to generate buzz around your app.
Day 7: Launch Day and Post-Launch Activities
Official Launch Deploy your app on the app stores and make it live. Monitor the launch process to ensure everything goes smoothly.
Gathering User Feedback Encourage early adopters to leave reviews and provide feedback. Use this input to make immediate improvements and plan for future updates.
Post-Launch Marketing Continue promoting your app through digital marketing channels. Offer promotions or discounts to attract new users.
