Ok, I'm really feeling like talking about Destripando la Historia, this time in english. Mostly about its take on Persephone's rapture.

I have seen debate about the interpretation of this myth, if it is about mother-daughter love or if it is a romance between Hades and Persephone and about a young woman getting free from an helicopter parent. And DLH takes both takes and mix them.

Destripando la Historia is a spanish series of parody songs, usually tackling folcklore a pop culture, but the last few years they are more known for their Gods pantheons series, right now they have Greek, Nordic and Egyptian. They are praised for being educative, catchy and funny. The Gods songs are usually from said God point of view.

Hades Song tells Persephone's rapture as a sort of romance, Hades was lonely, Zeus gave him Persephone, she enjoyed her time in the underworld and wasn't thrilled on going back to her mom, so the pomegranade thing is implied to be consensual. In the song Demeter is made fun of, yet so is Zeus and Hades himself.

Then comes Demeter song, and that song manages to be one of the sadest and solemnest of the whole series, the only reason it's not the number one is because of Baldur's (nordic mythology) song. Is about Demeter being constantly stepped over and how Persephone's rapture was the last straw, it all happened behind her back and she's on her right of being mad, hammy and sad about it.

And being their point of view, it made sense it would be so different. To Hades, Demeter was overreacting, to Demeter Zeus and Hades were being massive assholes. And in future song Persephone is seen hanging with both of them, her husband and her mother, just fine.

It would be left to see what is Persephone's take about it, since she doesn't have a song yet. But I trust that she will just make fun of them both, bcs DLH!Persephone has gremlin bastard energy and I love her for that.

Gleb started his own band called The Matrixx (at first known as Глеб Самойлоff + The Matrixx) where he got to do and write whatever he wanted. He experiments a lot. The first few albums are dark -kinda like Marilyn Manson- and very political. The rest are more about stories mixed with lots of techno. In this playlist you'll find:

Now let me introduce you to Король и Шут (The King and the Jester) a punk-rock band that mixed in some russian folckloric sounds and rock. All the lyrics have some magical/horror twist somewhere. Sadly one of the singers Mihail Gorshenov died in 2013. The other singer Andrey Kniazyev has his own band called Княzz (Prince) but I didn't listen much of it since I feel like something's missing also the last formation of the band renamed themselves Северный флот (Siberian flot after one of the songs) and still play some old songs and new ones. Recuerdos y definiciones en el Día del Folclore

Hoy se celebra en todo el país, el Día del Folclore con el objetivo de rescatar las raíces del pueblo argentino, no solo desde la música, sino también desde sus costumbres y tradiciones.

La primera vez que se utilizó el término “folklor” no fue precisamente por un argentino, sino por un ingl��s llamado William John Thoms en el año 1846.

Hoy la duda reinante acerca del término surge a la hora de escribirlo, si bien se puede utilizar “folcklore, folklore o folclore” la Real Academia Española recomienda utilizar “folclore”.

En nuestro país el Día del Folclore se celebra desde 1960, cuando se llevó a cabo el Primer Congreso Internacional de Folclore, justamente el 22 de agosto.

 Para hacer referencia a esta fecha, acudimos a referentes nogoyaenses de nuestras costumbres y de nuestra música.

En el año 2012, el recordado Beto García obsequió a quien escribe estas líneas, un grato momento, cargado de definiciones acerca del folclore.

Dueño de un kiosco y una forrajería, en el umbral que separa el barrio sur del centro, don Beto se encargó siempre de rescatar el cancionero popular y las costumbres criollas, como así también musicalizar alguna que otra compra con su guitarra rindiendo homenaje a su ídolo musical el Chango Rodríguez.

Don Beto Garcia jamás perdía el sentido del humor a pesar de entablar temas serios en sus charlas, tal es así que cuando se le preguntó si él había nacido en Nogoyá, respondió: “no, yo nací en el hospital”. 

García comenzó su camino por el folclore en la década del 50 en los festivales barriales de Nogoyá, “antes se realizaban los festivales en los barrios según el santo que tenían, por ejemplo estaba el festival de San Roque, de San Blás o de Santa Teresita” recuerda.

“A algunos de ellos me invitaban pero en otros me presentaba yo solo, era en las épocas de las nacientes del folklore argentino, siempre que hubiera un micrófono y un grupo de vecinos festejando yo me presentaba con mi guitarra, interpretaba algunas canciones y hacía cuentos cómicos camperos” recordaba por el año 2012 en momento que se realizara una entrevista.

El folclore “nos enseña mucho, a través de sus letras, nos deja lecciones de vida nos transporta a diferentes regiones del país, nos enseña la cultura de nuestra tierra. Desperdiciamos tiempo escuchando música importada de otros países y nos olvidamos de lo nuestro que tanto nos enseña. Hay un tema folclórico para cada fecha patria de nuestro país, nos muestra la historia de un paraje, de un río o de una región”.

Don Beto ya no está, pero dejó una huella marcada en la historia nogoyaense, no solo por su constante rescate de las costumbres criollas, sino también por brindarnos un espacio que disfrutamos y disfrutarán las siguientes generaciones como es el “Paseo Los Puentes”.

Con un mate, una historia y una canción

En la actualidad, una propuesta radial recorre desde hace 29 años “la geografía musical del país”, tal como reza el slogan del programa.

Conducido por Hugo Duré y acompañado por su hijo Yamil, Folclore y Algo Más rescata historias, anécdotas y paisajes relacionados al cancionero popular.

Duré explica que el día del folclore tiene que ver con una publicación extranjera, cuando un anticuario inglés dedicado al estudio de las cosas viejas, se le ocurrió que debía existir un término para englobar lo que se conocía como antigüedades populares, que hasta ese tiempo se denominaban así a las danzas, a las supersticiones y las coplas, “entonces este anticuario William John Toms propuso el termino folclore, es decir la sabiduría del pueblo”.

“Pero también, un 22 de agosto de 1865”narra el conductor radial “nacía el gran investigador oriundo de Gualeguay, don Juan Ambrosetti, fue además antropólogo y alumno de Florentino Ameghino. Se dedicó a investigar leyendas y supersticiones recorriendo muchos lugares de nuestro país. Por eso casualmente también se fija el 22 de agosto como el día nacional del folclore, en homenaje a Ambrosetti como padre de la ciencia folclórica argentina y además como elemento importantísimo de la investigación de la historia argentina, tal es así que el descubrió el Pucará de Tilcara, lugar del norte de nuestro país declarado patrimonio de la humanidad, que permitió conocer la vida los pueblos originarios antes de la llegada de los españoles” detalla.

Para Hugo Duré “el termino folclore es muy amplio, no solo se limita a la música y la danza, justamente hablando de la música no podemos decir que es puramente folclórica, debemos decir que es música con raíz folclórica o con proyección folclórica, porque lo puramente folclórico sería lo anónimo, pero ahora la música ha traspasado barreras digitales e incluso tiene autores de música y letra, o sea que ya no es anónimo. Incluso cuando eso anónimo se proyecta en una obra de teatro o se escribe en una partitura, deja de ser folclórico para pasar a ser de proyección folclórica, pero debe estar claramente identificado sin perder la esencia porque si no se desvirtúa” explica.

“El folclore sin perder su esencia originaria, se va adecuando a los tiempos. Y no es solamente la música y  la danza, son muchos elementos que forman parte del folclore, es lo que identifica y define un lugar o una aldea, por ahí no nos damos cuenta, pero nuestra misma tonada provinciana la que identifica y define a cada provincia, algunas más marcadas que otras como los cordobeses y correntinos, también forma parte del folclore, como así también los dichos, los refranes, las coplas, las supersticiones, la leyendas y las fiestas populares” mencionó el conductor radial.

DANI PEREZ IBARBUREN: Nació en la provincia de Mendoza en el año 1983. Inició su carrera musical por el año 1996 cuando formó parte del movimiento de murgas y batucadas Mendocinas, en paralelo estudiaba guitarra y canto, a sus 14 años compuso su primera canción denominada "Ya Veras".

Participó en proyectos musicales como Vim Iuventis, Soluble, La Nueva Guardia LNG (banda de electropop mendocino) y Camino Al Pachacuti.

Actualmente suma su voz al trío folclórico ¨Romería¨ e integra La Banda de Rock indie Pop “Tengo Otro Plan”.

A su vez se desempeña como Coach Vocal y profesor de Canto dictando talleres en el Teatro Independencia y en Aulas Para el Tiempo Libre (UNC) entre otros espacios.

EL VÁZQUEZ: La música de El Vázquez y Los Paisajes parte de la canción como hecho fundamental de su propuesta. Canciones ligadas a la historia del pop-rock argentino: pop de guitarras, rock de canciones con la melodía vocal como estandarte.

Con una lírica está atravesada por historias mínimas de amor y desamor y por el paisaje (mezcla de naturaleza, historia y política) como acercamiento al folcklore norteño, las letras de El Vázquez son parte fundamental de la identidad del proyecto.

El Vázquez es además artista visual, diseñador, músico y gestor cultural formado en las universidades nacionales de Tucumán y Córdoba.

The Patasola is a folcklore figure of the people of Colombia.

Legends that were created in the period of the Spanish conquest sprawled over the rural country and got shaped into monsters and curses. The Patasola is most likely the result of one of this medieval fairytales stained by the violence of this period. This legend tells the tale of a maiden who was accused of adultery and therefore was condemned to die in a fire pit but when her captors came for her, she scaped but not without a big fight in which one of the man cut her left leg. After this the woman screamed and wailed and everybody else in the square saw how she went leaping into the forest, her spirit now protects the rural areas of the country, hunting the hunters and everyone who dares to damage the trees.  

I'm working on an adaptation of this myths from my country. Soon I'll post more info.  This is a fiction work loosely based on some realities in my country.
